Where to Eat Hearts and Blood in Boston

"It makes sense that Coppa has cured beef heart on the menu: Co-owner Jamie Bissonnette wrote a book about charcuterie, after all. Coppa is doing a beef heart pastrami; eat it on its own, or throw it on top of the smoked bone marrow pizza. Dang. Note: Coppa is doing a prix fixe menu on Valentine’s Day, and this won’t be available. But go the day before or the day after Valentine’s Day and eat this." - Terrence Doyle

Yelp
Great food with friendly service Had soppressata, zucca and broccolini for three people. I really enjoyed soppeessata (pizza) which was savory with hint of sweetness from honey. Zucca was good-olive was a great kick that went well with the overall dish. Broccolini was my favorite; it was not too strong nor bland. Seasoned well with grinded cheese and spices.

Yelp
Attentive service, romantic ambiance, and dinner reservations weren't too hard to get on a weeknight. Best dishes of the night: - Spaghetti Carbonara (Pancetta, Maine uni, egg yolk, black pepper, parmesan) - Beef Heart Pastrami - Coppa di Testa (Crispy braised pigshead croqueta, apricot mostarda, golden beets, grain mustard, cress) Good but not the faves: - Zeppole (Ricotta donuts, raspberries, yogurt, vanilla milk crumble) - Cavatelli (Chicken sausage, tomato broccoli sugo, fennel pollen, parmesan) They also make a delicious negroni and their lavender soda is very refreshing. Would absolutely come back to Coppa for more beef heart pastrami and carbonara!! One of the best meals of my visit to Boston.

Yelp
Really love this place as a cute South End eatery. It blends in nicely with the brick brownstones of the old Boston neighborhood and is excellent for a nice casual-nice date. We brought our 1-year-old and the staff treated us very well, giving us a spacious outdoor table and high chair. They were attentive and kept our waters filled. The mushroom pasta dish was a favorite of ours. Delicious, creamy, and super umami. Their Neapolitan-style pizzas are absolutely delicious, and actually somehow manage to avoid the super soggy center thats so characteristic of this style of pie (even though I know it's traditional). I am not an uni fan so we did not try their famous uni carbonara but it was clearly a hit since it seemed that every table near us ordered it! Quality italian food in the residential South End! Honestly what's not to love.

Yelp
I really liked this place. Cute and cozy inside and we sat very quickly with a reservation. We got the arancini, tagliatelle and the carbonara, as well at the salsiccia pizza and finished with the tirimisu. Arancini were crispy and cheesy, sauce was great but the entire thing wasn't mind blowing, just solid. The tagliatelle was probably the most "basic" dish of the night with well done pork ragu, probably would please anyone but again not mind blowing. The carbonara with uni in my opinion was stand out and very creamy and delicious. Uni adds that extra bit to take it to the next level. The salsiccia pizza surprised me because Im not a thin wood fire crust lover but this one was chewy and crispy but not burnt. The onions and shishito peppers were a nice touch and we did ask for honey to drizzle to take it one extra step and it was great. Perfect cheese to sauce ratio and really was the one dish I would come back for. The tiramisu was so unique because it has a layer of thick nutella that took it from a basic classic to a unique take and everyone at our table liked it. I am not a huge tiramisu fan but I did like it, just personally wouldn't have been my first choice. I think overall prices were reasonable with maybe the arancini and tagliatelle being a bit steep for what they were though i'd just skip those completely and something else if you want something more unique. My biggest qualm was the service being s bit chaotic, the server left mid- conversation at one point and just seemed very rushed. They even cleaned our table and asked us if we wanted dessert before we even got our mains which I know was an honest mistake but added to the feeling of being rushed overall. Won't claim this to be some of the best Italian in the city, but good option for some friends and family nights where you need a little something for everyone.

Yelp
Very kind waiter, but not the fastest service. Also sat by the door and was freezing which just made it a bit uncomfy night. Otherwise, great vibes inside. A very cute, little Italian shop in the south end! The food was solid, however not a lot of chicken sausage in the cavatelli for $28 is my complaint.

Yelp
So yummy, the food is pretty fast, delicious, and fun to share. Pretty generic decor but the white pizza was really oniony in a good way. Also the server was so nice she gave us a free donut at the end so we didnt have to split three donuts four ways

Yelp
What a great first impression visiting Boston! We came here for dinner our first evening in. Sat outside and enjoyed the weather and beautiful neighborhood. Service was great, our waitress was very kind and gave great recommendations. Everything we had was delicious, with the standouts being the carbonara and soppressata pizza. Delishhhh

Yelp
I don't think I could say enough great things. First off, Zeph at the bar was phenomenal. Quick and attentive without being overbearing. She was a wizard, making drinks, taking orders, cleaning, helping everyone. I was truly amazed. Into the food, the Celery Caesar may be the best salad I've ever had. Whosever idea it was to make a salad using celery instead of lettuce was a genius. Every bit was crunchy and flavorful. The dressing was great. The portion was enormous, but I had none leftover because it was so good. The pasta had lamb and was the best pasta I've had in a long time. So fresh and simple. I wish I had room for more because so many of their dishes sounded amazing. The restaurant is small (but cute), and even on Wednesday night was packed so I recommend a reservation just to ensure you get a spot. It's well worth the effort.

Yelp
We went on a whim because my friend had recommended it to me. On a small nook in the heart of south end, this spot is perfect for outdoor dining, indoor vibes, and a wide array of Italian food menu items.

Yelp
This is such a gem tucked away in the South End! We made a reservation for a weekend dinner far in advance and I'm so glad we did as this little place seems to be constantly buzzing with people. We were seated inside near their big windows facing the street, which ended up being such a cozy spot. Service was slightly slower than usual, but the staff were very warm and welcoming, even letting us taste some wine before getting a glass. To pair with some drinks, we ordered arancini and split a bowl of pasta and a pizza, which ended up being the perfect amount for us. Literally every dish here was mouthwatering and delicious.. I couldn't have asked for anything more. The tagliatelle pasta was probably my favorite and a must-try. The noodles were so fresh and the tasty, tangy sauce coated them perfectly. We ended the night with a tiramisu, which was also unreal. The portion was very large, but we had no problem licking our plate clean! I can't wait to return to Coppa!

Yelp
Coppa Enoteca... what can I say holy moly. The food there was phenomenal, the pizza was crunchy but also chewy the perfect crust! Servers were attentive and always took care of us, good timing to check in but also left us alone for conversation. The environment was intimate but the outside patio looked fun and inviting! definitely would come back again

Yelp
Was going to give this place 4 stars because the staff was nice and the food was great, but thanks to Juan who saved the day I need to give this place 5 stars. Service was pretty bad. I wanted to give the waiter the benefit of the doubt, but I couldn't find a reason to. He didn't check up on us at all and only when I found a pretty large piece of plastic in my pizza did he show up. They only give you an hour and a half to dine so I was so confused on the type of service we received which they took forever to get us drinks and food. Once we got our first round of drinks after close to 20 minutes of being there, we put in our food order immediately and it came out at a decent rate, but a bit slow. I wouldn't complain about the rate at which the food comes out because I'm normally distracted talking to my company, but when our drinks were finished and we're never asked if we wanted another drink you notice. Towards the end of our dining experience when I found the plastic in my pizza, our waiter then shows up and he sent Juan our way. I told Juan about our service, apologized and took very good care of us. I heard so many good things about Coppa and was confused by the service. I also noticed two women next to us which seemed to also receive similar service by the same waiter and wanted to get their opinion, but they were set to leave. We even sat at the bar which you typically get checked on often, but the bar tender never reached us or looked our way. Other than the rant on our waiter, as I said Juan took great care of us to make up for it and I'm also giving this place 5 stars because the food was my favorite thing we ordered was the squid ink pasta with clams. So tasty. The Morty pizza looked amazing and was told it was great, but I don't eat pork and couldn't have any. Was really craving to try their pizza so I had to put an order in for their white mushroom pizza. It came out well done and over cooked compared to the Morty and my friend told me it wasn't near as good as the Morty. I've gotta go back and get that Morty without the pork! Will definitely return and hopefully service is better.

Yelp
It's a cute restaurant but the food was not worth it. Carbonara was too watery and cavatelli was lacking flavor

Yelp
I've been to Coppa several times and always enjoyed! Recently I stopped in on a rainy Tuesday right about 5 for some post work libations. Normally the small space is packed to the brim but this day I got to enjoy a more quiet ambiance and a great view from a window seat. Fresh sliced charcuterie and cool atmosphere is a win, I'll be back!

Yelp
great place to catch up with friends and the outdoor seating area was also very cute. the service was nice and speedy. i though the food was nice, but not spectacular. the pizza was delicious, but the arancini wasn't my favorite. i thought the ribs were interesting but inconsistent. some parts were falling off the bones while other parts were dry. the ribs sauce did have a sour zing to it that i quite like. would go back for the vibes alone

Yelp
Came to Coppa from Connecticut to meet parents of our daughter's boyfriend for the 1st time (they were visiting Boston from overseas). There were 5 of us plus a dog, so outside dining was a must. Since they only have tables for 4, they added another chair. It was a bit tight & pushing another table together with ours would have been great as we saw others are a 2 table setup - so I guess it's possible if you ask. Great neighborhood with beautiful brownstones & lots of dogs walking by. Service was good - some things only came with 3 pieces & they readily added enough for all of us to have. Food was delicious. We tried a lot of things & shared. Olives, aracini , and salad for appetizers. Pizza - margherita (so good!) & the pasta - Campanella were my favorites. We also had the carbonara & tagliatelle which were good. Not huge amounts, but order different things & share. Oh yes - dessert. We had extremely delicious zeppole.

Yelp
I loved how cozy this place was, but with that being said you NEED a reservation especially on the weekends. There are not a lot of tables. To start we had a round of cocktails and tried a crudo appetizer - it was just ok. The real stars were the Soppressata Pizza and a truffle tagliatelle pasta that was on special. I was in carb heaven. Service was great - only complaint was being seated right by the door in February so it was a little drafty but overall a great time.

Yelp
Very cute neighborhood spot perfect for a romantic date! The vibes are right but the portions were a little small for the price. We sat outside and the service was good. The team was able to answer my questions about the menu and accommodate my friend who is gluten free. All the pastas looked fabulous! I got pizza and wish it was bigger. I will say skip the cheese starter - that was embarrassing

Yelp
Called Coppa on a Sunday afternoon after 3:30pm. I have been going to Coppa/Toro/Lil Donkey for years. Always excellent. I'm friendly with J/K even though they split and Tony M and I grew up together. Anyway, I called to check for availability and make a late lunch early dinner reservation for myself at the bar. I saw a pop up that was a Lebanese brunch and wanted to double check. All good, the gentleman that answered the phone said come on in, dinner is available. So I took the T then Uber to Shawmut and walked up. The restaurant was maybe 15% full. 2 tables outside, 2 inside, 0 bar guest with 10-12 open seats. The host was at the outside host stand so I walked in to the bar and took a seats on the end as to not take up seats for 2 or more people. I've been a bartender for 30+ years. Coppa is generally one of my favorites and I have always had EXCELLENT meals and service. Anyway, I sit and a female bartender says "You need to check in at the host stand" "We are very busy with reservations".....so, I stand up walk back out to the host stand and wait. No one else was there. The gentleman I'm assuming the person I spoke to because I recognize his voice is the host/manager. I said "Hi, I just called in....My name is....I'd like to sit at the bar and have a nice dinner and some drinks" Anyway; he finishes his call and types into his iPad gets menu and walks me back in to THE EXACT SAME SEAT I TOOK INITIALLY. The female bartender gives me a dirty look and I glance at the food side of the menu and decide what to order. I am starving and I usually start with oysters or crudo, salad or appetizer, then maybe a main or a pizza pasta desert and an after dinner drink. I love to eat and enjoy great wine and drinks. The bartender kinds of slams down a glass of water and asks me what I want to drink. Politely, I asked for a minute to decide what I will be eating and if I'm having a wine or a Spritz or some other apertif cocktail. Then 30-45 seconds pass and she asks me what I want to eat. Now, I'm heated. I politely again say "Give me a minute." I then say "Excuse me for a moment, I received a text and a friend may join me." I walked outside BOILING MAD. I took a deep breath and walked across the street to The Franklin Cafe and had the grilled calamari, hummus with bread, the Roast Chicken (Cod wasn't available) and the Chive Mashed (no spicy green beans), 2 glasses of wine. A really nice Rose then a Red Blend. I tipped $50 in cash plus rounded up the CC tip to the nearest even amount. I'm not in Boston often, though I have been to Coppa 50+ times. I really want to go back. The easy way this would've been handled would have been "Hi, Welcome to Coppa. Good Afternoon. May I offer you some water and a menu? Are you having a drink or thinking about joining us for dinner? At the bar or a table? Do you have a reservation with us this evening? Will it be just yourself dining!" 30 seconds Whoever "she" was, was AWFUL & RUDE! Then for sh**s & Giggles, I checked RESY! Check it out below

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of Ken Oringer + Jamie Bissonnette restaurants, and the range of food and ambiance they are able to achieve across establishments. Coppa is more cozy than their sister Faccia a Faccia on Newbury, but the quality of food is equal. The first time I went, I was seated outside late last summer which was so nice. Their patio area is small, but the entire restaurant is a bit crowded. I ordered the margherita pizza which was good! Definitely better than the average pizza, but still just baseline good. The second time I dined here, my party was seated inside (preferred because it was early May so not as warm yet) and the interior was decorated nicely. I ordered the polpette and seasonal gemelli pasta. The meatballs were very highly reviewed, and I really enjoyed them but were slightly on the salty side if anything. The seasonal gemelli pasta was amazing: pea shoots and peas, with pecorino and lemon. It was bright and the perfect spring pasta. I do love Coppa, but when I do recommend it to people, I always find myself adding "they really cram you in there!" And "some dishes are hit or miss in terms of value for what you order" but when it's a hit, they're very much worth it!!

Yelp
Love the ambiance at Coppa. Their pizza and pasta taste so fresh and are some of the best in Boston.

Yelp
Verdict: Neutral. Worth a try if you love Italian food. Price: $120 (excluding tip) for 5 dishes and a cocktail. Adequate for 2 men. Food (6/10): Traditional Italian way of cooking with some creative tweak. Coppa di Testa: Highlight of the meal with a harmonious blend of polenta and pighead croquette. Bone MarrowPizza: Standard ingredient mix, but a pleasing combination. Bucatini: Over-salted; sauce didn't adhere well to the pasta. Service (7/10): Nice Service. Attentive and timely. Ambiance (5/10): Tastefully decorated but feels cramped. Parking can be challenging.

Yelp
Yummmmmmm is alllll I gotta say. Stumbled upon this place as I was walking by and the fullness of stables, music and cool vibe drew me in. I was seated immediately and ordered the carbonara (absolute yum - thicky, creamy, eggy (not tooo eggy tho!), cheesy, aldente pasta), celery Cesar (which at first thought was weird but immediately fell in love after the first bite). I'm not exactly sure what drink I ordered but it was creamy, smooth, yum x a million and I may or may not have ordered 2 more. Yes that good.

Yelp
Wonderful service, great atmosphere, food was delicious! I felt very safe there with a gluten allergy!

Yelp
Came here on a weeknight with some friends who recommended it for nice Italian food in the South End. We sat outside on the patio on a warm spring evening around 8pm. We made a reservation ahead of time and were seated promptly upon arrival. We felt like the service was still good despite sitting outside where less tables were located. We split a bottle of red wine then ordered a lot of food to be shared family style. For appetizers, we went with the Asparagi, Arancini, and Peperone. The Arancini were my favorite! You can't go wrong with fried risotto paired with a spicy tomato sauce. For entrees, we split a Margherita Pizza and 3 pastas--Gemelli, Bucatini alla Vongole, and Spaghetti Carbonara. It felt like this was a sufficient amount of food for our group of 5 despite serving sizes being on the smaller side. I'd say the pastas were the best part! They were all delicious and unique. The Gemelli had braised lamb and sheep's milk cheese. The Bucatini was served as squid ink pasta. And the Carbonara was creamy and had pancetta mixed in. This dinner ended up being quite pricey but you are paying for nice food in the South End, so it wasn't too surprising. Part of me wishes we had each gotten our own entree instead of doing the family style route. Either way, it was still pretty good overall and we had a nice time!

Yelp
So amazing and you know it has the best quality! It was so delish! We loved this place! And the vibes were amazing!

Yelp
Went here on a "date night" after work this past weekend. All I can say is ... WOW!!! Also, when can I got back?! Went in having no expectations, as I have been disappointed in the hype of a few South End restaurants. So happy that this was not a disappointment but instead ... a delicious, pleasant surprise. First, my BF made a reservation, but they only had outdoor seating. He made it anyway cuz of the "warm" days we've been having, but it ended up being a rainy day. Before he could cancel, the restaurant called him to see if he wanted the indoor seating that just opened up. I am so appreciative and thankful that they called. Such great customer service!!! Second, the drinks and food were amazing!!! I got wine. I normally hateeeee getting a glass of wine at places because of the price and the weak pours, but Coppa surprised me with its generous pour ... so much so that I got a second glass. Hehehe!!! With regards to the food, I think they're considered "small plates", but the portions of good size. We still shared, but we didn't feel like we were getting scammed with the portions. The flavors of the dishes were extremely yummy and had a little extra pizzazz ... making me want more. I definitely recommend the salad and truffle pasta that I got. (See pix.) Downsides ... just that the place was so tiny ... and the tiramisu. Sorry. My BF really liked the tiramisu because he loves Nutella. It just wasn't my thing. Wasn't very tiramisu-y. With regards to the smallness of the restaurant, I get really claustrophobic, but this place was so amazing ... I'm letting it slide. Even the service was exceptional!!! No snobby vibe at all. We were given seats at the bar, and the bartender was so friendly and attentive. I hope she knows how great is she is!!! Also, there was a younger gentleman that was preparing some food in that same area. I think it was like his first or second day. He was working so hard and putting such care in what he was doing. I love to see that!!! Especially nowadays ... where it seems like no one wants to work. Anywayyyyy ... GO HERE!!! You won't be disappointed!!!

Yelp
Coppa is a small popular Italian tapas style restaurant located in the South End. They have about 10 or so small tables inside that are tightly packed together. The table that I had with my friends was uncomfortably close to the next table. The drinks were not that good. We ordered the Jungle Bird (rum, lime, and pineapple) and Lite on the Tini (vodka, apple liquor, and honey). The Jungle Bird was okay, but kinda basic. The Lite on the Tini tasted like drinking incenses or perfume. I was surprised at the quality and lack of decoration for these drinks since they were $16 each. For appetizers, we ordered the Arancini (stuffed fried rice balls) and Passato di Carote (roasted hummus). These were decent and they also gave us complimentary bread. For the main courses, the Capesante Di Mare (scallops, squid ink, and mussels) and Mushroom Pizza were good. It is all tapas style so the portions are smaller than you would expect. The Salsiccia Pizza was okay, but a meat lovers pizza from Domino's would've been better. The service was good, and our server was friendly and checked on us a lot. Of note, there is a 3% kitchen fee applied to all bills. Overall, with the high prices, bad drinks, and okay food, I think this restaurant is over-rated and there are better Italian options nearby.

Yelp
Still a 5 star experience. Came here for a meal before a concert and it was fantastic. Had the Fusilli Nero, with perfectly cooked pasta and generous amounts of crab. Cocktails were very good and service was efficient. Go to Coppa!

Yelp
4.75 stars but will round up! Came on a busy weekend night with reservations; before running the Boston Marathon! Service was friendly and timely. They did not rush you. Very home town vibe and wish I knew about this place when I lived in Boston for 3 years. The prices are high but the pasta and food are well worth it! 1) Spaghetti carbonara - Al dente to perfection. Loads of flavor and sauce. Very enjoyable with pieces of meat. 2) Tiramusu - Rich and good sized. Not too fluffy but overall good. I would come here again without hesitation!

Beau B.

Yelp
More interested in getting you in and out the door as fast as possible than allowing you to eat your meal.

Yelp
Great hangout place. Classic Italian dishes, mixed with newer take on certain dishes. We loved the outdoor ambience. They are also dog friendly! We had marinated mushrooms, anchovies, and a charcuterie board, and all three appetizers were phenomenal. For main course we had pasta, which was also delicious. The servers were great. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Hands down the best pasta I have ever had. The food was wonderful. We had an hour wait because of all the marathon traffic, and my husband agreed it was well worth it. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood. The staff were friendly and it was a wonderful experience. Best food we had while on our trip to Boston.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place since coming to Boston these past several trips ... staying at a nearby hotel so I could be in the area this time. Small place about 10 tables and seating at the bar Music is dope 90's hip hop etc ... gang star and common Jamie my server was friendly ... Started with the Kessler - vodka cocktail then the Negroni - gin cocktail ... strong but good had the Arancini- fontina rice balls ( 3 balls) which was very tasty Had my heart set on the fettuccine tartufo with black truffles .... In house made paste always awesome ... the dish was good ...wish it was a little more creamier or saucier. Would like to come back some day to try other pasta dishes or the pizza Dessert- Nutella tiramisu- shareable or can take home.

Yelp
Need to update this review since I went back and had a much better experience- more like I was accustomed to when this used to be one of my regular spots. Tables are still definitely tight, but that's most places in Boston and they do a decent job of moving the table and making sure you have enough space to enter your seat with the other row tables. If you have a party of 2 i would expect to be seated within 18" of another table. But it didn't really bother me this time. Also, I thought the meatballs and the insalata were very tasty. I will say the food comes out super quick so I would make sure you tell your waiter to course it out because you could be in and out in 45 mins otherwise. The meatballs especially must just be sitting ready because they were on the table less than 3 minutes after we ordered (again these were still great meatballs). I steered clear of the carbonara since it wasn't great last time, and i got the cavatelli which was very good. My wife got the bucatini and gave me a bite - that was also incredible. Service was also great, the waitress offered me a sample for a wine i hadn't tried before which was very nice. Overall much better service experience than last visit. 4 stars because while the food is good I think it's still relatively overpriced for what you are getting, and they add a 3% BOH fee and charge 7% for tax when it's only 6.25% in MA which is frustrating. They also present the bill with the subtotal amount that includes tax, and the tip line below which i believe is intentional to get customers to tip on the tax and BOH fee as well. They seem to be really focused on maximizing every last little profit which I get, but the result is a hit to the customer experience. I dont think I will be back anytime soon.

Yelp
First time coming to Coppa, it came highly recommended by a handful of friends. Located on a quieter street in the South End. The majority of the parking nearby was South End Resident Permit Only. I'd recommend figuring out your driving plans prior to arrival. There are a handful of parking garages within 10-15 min walking distance. Started off with some cocktails off the menu - Bad Romance and the Negroni. Both delicious. Server explained its "tapas" style due to the fact that the dishes were served once prepared. The meals were definitely sharable, but could also be entree sized. Service was great - it was FAST! Coppa had some outdoor seating, we chose inside because we knew it was going to rain. Smaller inside, so highly recommend a reservation. There are about 8-10 bar seats that were first come, first serve. Overall, would come again. Food was great!

Yelp
We loved everything we tried here! Our servers were great, the food was absolutely incredible (I can't even pick a favorite), and it was a beautiful day so we sat outside. I would recommend this place to any foodie. You'll try flavor combinations you've never had anywhere else! Great experience.

Yelp
Really enjoyed each visit here, particularly the pasta dishes. The following are my notes from a couple years back, posting for posterity: Sweetbreads amazing. Pork shoulder very nice, but the chicken sausage was honestly the star of that dish. Gnocchi was nice but somewhat milder than I hoped. Cured egg yolk didn't come through. Really the lovely flavor from the mushroom in particular seemed to elevate this dish. Good pizza. Looking forward to returning for pasta, sausage, and interesting bites!

Yelp
Wow, this place did not disappoint! This was one of the most recommended spots to eat in the South End by all ages. A 7pm reservation on a Friday took planning a few weeks ahead of time, but it was entirely worth it. The inside is extremely small with limited tables, but the music was great and despite it's elevated menu, it felt very relaxed. Our waitress was funny and did not rush us out. The cocktails were creative and delicious. The food sounded fancy, but still comfort food. We were told by friends to get the celery caesar salad and it was such a fun twist on a classic. We tried the squid ink pasta and it was unexpectedly incredible! And of course had to try a pizza as well. We got the Salsiccia and loved it. Portion size were small for Italian, but these 3 dishes were enough to fill 2 people and take some pizza home as left overs. Pricing was standard. This is one of those places where you want to try everything on the menu and I am genuinely excited to go back.

Yelp
Overall: 3.5/5 Ambience: 4/5, small space w small tables, adequately lit, plenty of ambient noise, a bit loud for a 1:1 date but perfect for small groups of friends Service: 4/5, attentive, we were seated at our appointment time one Tues 6p, prompt drinks, food within 15min of ordering Price: 3.5/5, on par with most of Boston, $16 drinks, $15 apps, and $25-35 pastas; $65++ per person for a drink, pasta, and split app/dessert. Enough to fill my friend and me. Food/Drink: 3.5/5 I acknowledge I tend to be picky of Italian restaurants, and Coppa did not live up to the hype. - Jungle Bird ($16): stand out of the night; delicious, rum-based, not overly sweet - Arancini ($15): 3; underwhelming, not enough cheese or sauce - Carbonara ($32): pancetta and uni cut through, but not enough, pasta was lukewarm - Bucatini Vongole ($28): better of the 2 pastas; tomato based sauce with mushrooms, rich in flavor - Tiramisu ($13): well-sized; unique in its addition of nutella; solid but not impressive.

Yelp
I came here for an early lunch with a friend. We weren't greeted at the front even though a host was sitting at the stand when we walked in. He was talking to someone and then walked away for a minute. The food was mediocre. The pasta wasn't hot, it was warm and kinda room temp. The pizza lacked flavor despite having flavorful ingredients listed. I felt the prices were higher than they should've been for the food.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in Boston. Its location, at a peaceful little corner on Shawmut Avenue in Boston, is the loveliest spot in the city. The staff are always immensely charming; I've been coming here for many years, either by myself or with my wife or with our two kids, or with our two kids and our dog, and never once have we felt anything but welcomed with open arms. The food and cocktails are impeccable. There's always something delicious for vegetarians to eat; hat tip to lapsed vegan Jamie Bissonnette, who still remembers what it's like to not eat meat and doesn't shortchange us. Thanks, Jamie.

Yelp
Really fun spot! It is really small so I recommend arriving right on time for your reservation because there isn't anywhere to stand. Delicious pasta and pizza, but surprisingly the oysters were one of our favorite bites! There were three of us dining and they kinda just pulled up a chair so one of us was in the main path of travel through the restaurant which wasn't great.

Yelp
Really small, cozy Italian restaurant- perfect for date night or dinner with friends! The pasta is all amazing (the pesto and bolognese are my favorites) and the pizza hits. Definitely recommend the sopresatta pizza which isn't too spicy at all if spice isn't your thing

Yelp
A South End institution that I've unfortunately only made my to now. While Boston historically does have bountiful Italian options, I've always felt they did not compare to any of the restaurants in New York. Coppa's perfectly al dente pastas on the other hand puts up a great fight. The Bolognese, Carbonara and Cavatelli were 5 stars while the Funghi Pizza was around a 3.75/4. I would have love to try the other pastas as well. Coppa easily ranks in the top choices in Boston!

Yelp
This is probably the best Italian food I had in Boston. Now you're probably saying: Bill S, aren't you a north end guy? I mean, I love having a healthy debate over who makes the best cannoli but pasta? I'll put it out there, most North End spots are serving boxed pasta. The pasta may come from Italy, throw red sauce on it and call it a day right? Arriving at Coppa Enoteca, the restaurant is set up for both indoor and outdoor dining. The menu choices look outstanding! I ordered a glass of red wine as well as Arancini which was delicious. Loaded with cheese and warm rice, this dish was an enjoyable first starter. I ordered the homemade Gemelli pasta for my entree. After my first bite, I can sum it up best. The North End restaurants has nonna in the back mixing meatballs, the food is rustic. The Gemelli I enjoyed the other night was a well executed, chef'd up dish. Homemade Gemelli tossed in a lamb Sugo sauce and black garlic cream has been evading my dreams. Come to find out, this Italian small plate dish is carefully created by James Beard Award-winning Chefs Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette. Coppa Enoteca, the space isn't a fancy spot with white tablecloths. There is a small bar and a few tables inside. Don't let that deter you from enjoying Boston's best kept secret. If the chefs read this, what's your choice, Mike's or Modern?

Yelp
This place is a gem! Located in a great part of the south end and the vibes are immaculate. The restaurant is on the smaller side so it is more intimate. The service was amazing! The waitress recommended the perfect dessert & put a candle on it to celebrate a birthday for us. The food is amazing. The arancini is some of the best I've ever had & the truffle pasta (Tajarin Al Tartufo) was a perfect portion and not too heavy. 10/10

Yelp
The food at this restaurant was all delicious, but the service was disjointed and we had dishes coming out not at the same time. I was finished with my pasta before my boyfriend got his dinner and then we ordered cappuccino with the dessert and the cappuccino came out way before the dessert. I want to give it a five star for how delicious the food was but the service could be much better. The server behind the bar was not the most friendly.
