2nd Street District

Hello Everyone, I hope & pray all is well. So... I continue to walk & attempt to heal recent Trauma. I can only speak for myself but, I'm Grateful To GOD for allowing me to live Downtown Austin. Austin is one Beautiful City & Being Able To Walk It Everyday...I can't help but To Find A Deep Sense Of Peace. 💯 I mean look at what I get to see, feel, hear, & Witness With My Own Eye's! Though it is a shame that the heat is dangerously hotat times...👈🏾I walk as early as I can however...5 miles is going to take a little time. 🤫😲😳😳😲🤫 Every Picture You See, Is From My Personal Camera...It Is Literally The World As I Get To Experience It! As I See It ! Good & Love....🙋🏾‍♂️❤️To The World/🌍

Cool place and lots of places to eat,shop, and explore! Everything is walkable and close by. Lots of areas to chill and just relax. Nice photo opportunities too

There are lots of fun things to do around here! If you’re visiting from out of town you’re not far from “bat watching” on the Congress Avenue Bridge. This takes place at sunset 🌇 at Lady Bird Lake/Town Lake. Another fun thing to do with kiddos is visit Toy Joy. It’s a local toy store that has been around since 1987 and you’ve definitely never seen one like it! For a quick bite or drink: La Condesa! It has a festive atmosphere!

Update 2025 - downtown Austin is still beautiful, Cap Metro drivers still nice and people are friendly. Beautiful street lighting in downtown Austin's 2nd Street district. Great weather and ambiance.

If you've been to the Into the Wind store in Boulder, then like me you might not be super impressed with Toy Joy. Overall I got a sense of kitsch that you might or might not appreciate. But, this store does have a large variety of oddball toys that can entertain you for about 20 minutes, and you might find something interesting or weird to buy.

Very nice area to shop and walk around. I suggest you do some research on where to park before you visit.

The shopping is great wether it's for the Ms. Or the kids there is something for everyone including yourself! I like to toke up and hit the candy store with the kids and get a bunch of Scooby snacks.! The Ms. likes to go to all the stores can't blame her! There are some great restaurants to visit when the shopping makes you hungry! So go down and enjoy what Austin has to offer in the district.
