Really loved the Haitian inspired shrimp lettuce wrap appetizer. My wife really enjoyed her goat combo plate, and I feasted on a delicious Mama's Creole Fried Chicken. I'll be getting the Guava juice mocktail every time I go to Tap Tap. Staff had genuine friendliness. Great vibe. We live in the neighborhood and will be encouraging our neighbors to check Tap Tap out.

We just had a sumptuous and delightful meal. Excellent and friendly service in relaxed setting. Highly recommended; we'll be back.

Delicious! We were visiting Portland and our Vrbo was right around the corner. New to Haitian food but familiar with most Caribbean/Creole cuisines. The owner and staff were wonderfully warm and welcoming. The food was tremendous. The taro fritters were an appetizer standout. I loved my goat stew. My wife raved about the grilled snapper. My twin 13 yr old girls loved the roasted chicken and plantains. Will visit again next time we're in town.

Delicious meal here. Pork combo plate was amazing - the pikliz is one of the best things I've ever eaten. Very unique flavors. Nice and clean inside with really beautiful art on the wall Service was good. Food does take a bit. Worth it though.

The food the chef-owner and his mom and even a visiting friend/artist of all the in-house art were warm, friendly and couldn't be nicer! Our friend who had been there a few months ago highly recommended this place n since I'm the only one out of the three of us who has not tried Haitian food we thought why not an added adventure to the already fun day (we're a group of 3... 2 from Seattle n 1 from Boston) We had the fried taro from appetizers, the chicken pate l, the beet n potato salad, the perfectly grilled pompano and green savory plantain - n we ordered more taro sticks n pates to bring home as well! Ohhhh n chef makes his own hot sauce!! Look out for it! It's delish!!! We brought some home too... ok we bought six bottles home lol!

This is a wonderful place to come to for drinks and apps. The drinks here all look spectacular and the appetizer menu is where I think the value and flavor is at. We came here as a family and weren't sure if the good is family style or per person so we ended up ordering way too much and it was a lil spendy. So if I were to do it over again, I would maybe stick to their appetizer menu that has some great choices and flavors. I also don't drink but my step daughter had a drink and it was a beautiful island looking thing and will have you dreaming of carribean beaches and sunshine. I had the Fried Yucca as an appetizer and it was sooooo good. I ordered the chicken and was trying to keep it healthy as they offer fried or baked. The dark meat leg was good but the breast was huge and as a result, it wasn't as juicy as I had hoped for. We also ordered the Diri Blan which was an eggplant stew with beef and we had one with goat. Probably could've shared just one of these. We also had some lettuce wraps and some other items but I honestly can't remember the names of them for the photos. I will have to try to look it up and add that. The service here is so friendly and the owner is just the nicest guy and I hope he prospers.

This is my 2nd visit to this restaurant. So satisfied with their food - Delicious, fresh and prepared very nicely. We bought multiple bottles of their delicious homemade hot sauce because it will go well with many dishes. The people at the restaurant were very hospitable and kind. The restaurant space is modern, spacious, clean and comfortable. The art installation by Marco Saint Juste was impressive. We will be back!

Holy cow!! Completely blown away - there wasn't a single dish I had that wasn't spectacular. The goat stew, creole chicken, and tap tap cups were amazing. What a hidden gem!

I visited this restaurant as part of a weekend visit with a group I work for every once in a while. Upon arrival, our large group was instantly seated. Shortly after, our server came around to take our drink orders and even made suggestions on drinks based on what you like. Afterwards, the food started pouring. Someone made selections of dishes for the entire table, so I didn't really look at the menu. The food was served family style and you would grab what you like. So much food came out! So much! And all was very good. The only thing I personally did not like was the fish as it tasted way too much like the sea. But that was just me, you may like it. One issue we encountered was each dish coming out at a very slow pace. Which meant we digested the previous food and became full. We eventually had to say no more as they kept bringing out dishes and we were stuffed to capacity. The owner (I believe) did come out to apologize as they didn't have as much staff that night accommodate our large party. But all in all it was a great time and I would return!

This place should never be empty. What an absolute gem of a dining experience. The food is amazing, a celebration of flavor that makes you happy to be alive. I live in California and now I will probably commute to Portland at least 2x a year just to eat here. It's that good!

We enjoyed the drinks, appetizers, entrees, and ambiance. Could easily talk longer about the well spiced and creative yet probably adequately traditional food. Nevertheless we felt treated as we went there at about 5pm before the dinner crowds. Besides not every day is a waiter also a humble but distinguished painter.

Yooo, this place is so incredibly delicious and as far as I know only the second Haitian restaurant in Portland (they also have a food truck). They are still opening so you'll have to be patient while everything comes together but such great service, super kind owner, really cool space. Even eating the leftovers is really great. Definitely a new must try place in Portland.

This will be the some of the best food you will have in Portland! If you know, you know. The food and the service were amazing. I had Mama's Creole Chicken with diri ak djon djon (black rice with peas). It was served with pikliz (Haitian fermented cabbage) and homemade sauce. Please visit, you will not be disappointed!

Came to this lovely restaurant with a group of friends and I gotta say I had a fantastic time! The owner was incredibly welcoming and had fantastic suggestions to share to us newbies to try! He was very pleasant to talk to and offered nice conversation. It was a lovely introduction to Haitian food. The food was incredible and I would love to come back sometime. My friends and I got to try a few of the things on the menu, we shared family style and all agreed that the food tasted great. We devoured it all. Glad to say this is one of the few places that actually really deserves a 5 star.

My only other experiences with Haitian food have been dinner at Kann (quite a high bar!), buying jarred pikliz (good on so many things!), and making my own epis seasoning at home (keeps well in the freezer and I use it for cooking black beans). All that said, I loved my meal at Tap Tap Cuisine. The appetizers were standouts -- I would make a meal out of the plantain cups and meat-stuffed pastries if I went on my own! My partner and I also shared two main dishes, the homey baked chicken and perfectly cooked grilled snapper. Absolutely use their homemade hot sauces and pikliz, and buy a bottle of hot sauce to take home while you're at it. So good. We also ordered some cocktails, my favorite of which was a tropical, passion fruit-y mocktail spiked with some Malibu.

Incredible food and service. 10/10. Get the Akra Peyanm (fried Taro). It's a traditional dish made by the bartender Alex's mom and it was so delicious. Will be back again!

I love the restaurant for Tap Tap. The owners were so sweet, humble and gracious and the food was absolutely amazing and so fresh. The interior was clean, and the ambiance was calm and inviting. I don't even know where to start. The Tap Tap cups -- we did the pork ones and it was the perfect amount of spice to give them a little kick after you bite into them. The pork was seasoned to perfection. Our all-time favorite appetizer was the Akra Peyanm. I could have eaten these all by myself. Crispy, fried light and seasoned incredibly. There's a house made sauce that is offered for dipping but I didn't need it! So so good! The pates were good -- a mix between an empanada and a Jamaican patty. You can't go wrong with either beef or chicken. They're super juicy and you can tell that the pastry dough is made fresh. The fried snapper is beyond amazing. I've had a lot of fried fish in my life and from all over the world. This dish is the best I've had. Seasoned delectably, and just explodes with flavors in your mouth. Wow, wow, wow! The baked chicken was flavorful as well and paired nicely with the diri Djohn Djohn and legumes.

One of the best restaurant meals we've had all year! Be sure to try the fried taro, it is amazing!

You guys. Do NOT miss this place. One of the best meals we had in PDX! The taro root was delicious and the Djon jon was out of this world!! This is Haitian comfort food and the people are the icing on the cake. Loved this family and their cooking!

The space was nicely decorated and visually inviting. The service was super friendly + very attentive. We tried the plantains with pork and piri piri slaw and the fried taro root appetizers. Both were delicious. We split the goat and black mushroom rice entree. The goat was mild and expertly cooked, very moist. The rice had a nice bounce in the bite which was pleasing. They have a fun drink menu. We will go back for sure!

My first experience of tastes from Haiti. Delicious food, with interesting ingredients. The owners are delightful, and helpful with food choices. We'll be back to try more from the menu.

The food was amazing. First, it is so rare that you see Haitian cuisine, but they had all of the favorites...pate, bannann peze, diri djondjon. So good! Amazing Barbancpurt rum drinks. Wonderful service. Alex has opened an amazing restaurant with awesome food based on his mom's recipes.

Went for a birthday and we were treated royally. Manager/owner was very friendly, attentive, and fun. Cocktails were interesting and well made. I haven't had much experience with Haitian food but our party of 6 tried various dishes which were all excellent. Interesting, well balanced flavors all around, and they were happy to accommodate dietary needs. I'll definitely be returning. Support this vibrant space!

We visited the new brick n mortar after having eaten at the food cart on Williams before and were not disappointed! The service is so relational and we felt so appreciated for coming. The whole fish was incredible but everything we tried wowed us. Will be back for sure!!

Super welcoming and friendly. It's a beautiful upscale restaurant with authentic, family made meals. The only difficult is trying to figure out what you're going to get because it all sounds amazing. I got the hatian pate and tap tap fried red snapper. Amazing service, I should've left this review the first time but I had to make sure I left it this time.

I went here tonight for the first time with a bunch of my new book club friends. We had an amazing assortment of food for both vegans and meat eaters alike! We had a variety of food from the menu along with some delicious cocktails. My favorite was anything plantain related, and it was super filling and yummy. Wonderful server/owners explained all to us. I bought some hot sauce on my way out for my hubby. Can't wait to come back with more friends. Thanks!

Absolutely amazing experience! We ordered a little bit of everything off of the menu and loved it all! We loved the service, the ambiance, the drinks, and of course the authentic food. We will definitely be back!

Really enjoyed our meal here and will be coming back. You could easily make a meal out of just the appetizers - the fritters, pastries, and salads were all fantastic. For our entrees, we ordered the fried chicken and whole fish, both of which were outstanding. Most in our party prefer milder spice levels, and the dishes were perfectly seasoned for us. The house made hot sauce was great for those who wanted more of a kick. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. Although we didn't try the cocktails, I imagine this place would be perfect for a drink and some snacks, especially if you enjoy tropical drinks. Service was great and very friendly. Don't sleep on this Portland Gem.

Well I can definitely see my husband and I becoming regulars here! We went for the first time, which was also my birthday, the food and drinks did not disappoint! Everything we ate, we loved. The fried chicken and plantains were probably my favorite IF I had to choose! But the specialty cocktails we just as delightful. Super excited to have a place not far that is beautiful inside and has great owners and staff! Def coming back sooner rather than later!

Alex our server had a great sense of humor and was very helpful in explaining the best way to eat the dishes we ordered. The hot sauce they make in house is addictive! We ordered the plantain appetizer and the grilled snapper, and both were presented beautifully. The dining room was decorated very nicely as well. We will definitely be coming back with more people so we can try more items!!

Best 8 dollar breakfast in all of Vancouver. 7 days a week. Steak and eggs, French toast, chicken fried steak and eggs.

Ambiance, casual, open, well lit, nice bar area.i The Food was EXCELLENT! We had baked chicken that was so tender! Had pompano (whole fish) beautifully presented & tasty. We had the sweet potato appetizer: also excellent. Wine choices ok. Service was slow. Server apologized for the wait. He is delightful...clearly loves what he's doing. He learned from his Mom who helps in back with the cooking. We will return to try other things in the menu.

What terrific Haitian food, definitely better than Kann. The owners and staff are from Haiti and the food is great. I had the pamadoro, a meaty white fish from Florida and it was delicious. Served with fried plantain. A really wonderful happy hour, the whole menu is 20% off! Can't wait to go back and try more menu items, they have quite a few vegan options.

Delicious food. We had plantain cups, sweet potato dish and other vegetarian dishes and everything was so tasty. The hosts took special care and pride in the service and food. I am looking forward to going back!

Peak deliciousness and super bright flavors in a really cool space with lovely owners. We got the fried chicken which was super crunchy and flavorful with a nice dipping sauce, but the star was the rice and beans + legumes. Can't ask for a better spot to eat. Highly recommended.

Absolutely must try!! Amazing food, super fun and creative drinks, great ambiance, and the best people! We ordered virgin drinks (which were so creative, flavorful, and aesthetically on point) and tried a variety of their dishes, which they had plenty of vegan/vegetarian/meat options. The fried fish and chicken were my highlights. Absolutely will go back the next chance I get!
