Jerk Chicken Pop-Up Wadadli Opens a Cafe in Bed-Stuy - Eater NY

"Wadadli A.M., a small cafe that opened in Bed-Stuy this summer, starts smoking its meats around 9:30 a.m. most mornings. ... Hughes and his team are churning out some 750 pounds of chicken each week. ... An order comes with rice and peas, plantains, a couple of lettuce leaves, and a squirt of jerk of scotch bonnet sauce ($13)." - Luke Fortney

Yelp
This place was a great "underground" neighborhood location filled with great energy and grown up vibes. In the midst of being there we were told they were to be shut down (for no valid reason, than being black owned) so the positive energy and history had a heavy presence. The place was filled with respectful hardworking individuals that you can tell had some great times in this establishment. The only complaint is they were serving premixed drinks, which isn't my cup of tea, but to support the culture we accepted it. However the DJ (DjMrLover) made up for it, he had the room on fire. Hopefully this place can find a way to open up again. If so we shall be back.

Yelp
I've been back a couple of times, in the last few years: sometimes in the day time and evening. Overall, its a good spot to come solo or with friends - whether it is packed or not. I think it is way better during warm weather so that you can also sit outside, if you like. If you come during times when they have a DJ, those experiences are generally good. Bed-Vyne is a nice neighborhood watering hole.

Yelp
It's like I kinda don't wanna review this place because it's such a Beautiful gem. But you gotta give respect where it's due. The vibe is perfect, music is always what you want to hear and the people are on brand with all of that. This is the perfect work in with friends or even by yourself if you just want to to have a nice time.

Yelp
A night of bar hoping in the area & we ended up here, decent beer list .. I usually stick to beer since it's easier & harder to go wrong w the options. Good music playing , this place has a good vibe nice to hang out , get drinks , dance a little & just simply chill out.

Yelp
This place always has good music and a nice vibe. The drinks have become too expensive. I paid about $45 for two sangrias :/

Yelp
Good wine & a nice vibe in the middle of Brooklyn.... On those random nice when you may feel the need to hear music & catch a little vibe Bed Vyne Brew is the place to go. I've been here dozens of times, the music is always on point & most nights they have a live Dj. They are stocked with a wide variety of wines but if it's been a real ruff day & you're in the mood for something a little stronger checkout their margarita...

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times so far and I really enjoyed myself each time. In my opinion, there is a nice vibe about it when it comes to the crowd, the bartenders, and the DJs on set as well. It's one of those places where everyone is too busy having a good time to do anything other than have a good time, whether it's a laid-back low-key night or a turnt-up, let-loose kind of night vibe going on. As far as I know, they only offer beer and wine which is a pretty good look since the drinks taste good and are a bit different. Each DJ I've experienced was really good and able to move the crowd, and at times took requests for songs. The bathroom is what it is and ain't what it ain't. Always a good time at BVB, thus far.

Yelp
. Great vibes, beats, nice little outdoor patio spot in Bed Stuyv. Super friendly amicable crowd, can pull up and just jump on convos or strike up one with a mellow cool stranger. Nice collection of unique, tasty beer and meads; cool helpful bartender.

Yelp
The 2 bartenders yesterday Sheena & Shanele were freaking awesome. Great customer service & the way they were managing the crowd. EXCELLENT‼‼‼. Love this bar. So hype that I got put on to y'all. 5/5 EASILY‼‼‼

Yelp
The vibes is everything in this atmosphere. Bed Stuy is on the map for sure. TAE is everything.

Yelp
All you need to know that this is the most poppin spot of the summer! Jerk chicken pop up grill, DJ spins with music that falls on to the street and BIG a$$ sangria's!!! Go here!! Everyone else does...
google avatar

Cho-Hee S.

Yelp
If I lived in the area this would be my go to spot! Great music and drinks. Bar tenders were nice and patient in helping me figure out what I wanted. Music was Caribbean, rap, and good dance hits.

Yelp
I've been to this place three times (the first time by accident - but stopped in because it just felt right!) and the music and service never disappoints. This is an amazing neighborhood bar with a lot of flair and great music. Happy hours consist of house wine for $8-9 and beers and there's a bbq stand right outside with meats and sides- though they seem to close shop around 5/6. Did I mention I love their music? I sat here through 4 rounds of wine just shazaming the music and now I have a new playlist. Also, I love how cozy they make this place. Met some really cool dudes and ladies here - overall a friendly, diverse, racist-free vibe zone. Plug walk!

Yelp
Chill vibes, good beer, friendly bartender. What more could you ask for. They do carry a few bottles of wine for the beer unenthused. For the beer lovers, they seem to draw in more IPAs. I didn't see any lagers or pilsners, but the bartender recommended a few ales that were along those lines. I went with a Belgian ale that was tasty and 6.9% ABV at a HH $6. Sweet deal. It's dimly lit with wooden fixtures and makes for a cozy stop with some good music as a bonus.
google avatar

Marcias A.

Yelp
The vibe started at the door! The DJ didn't miss a beat. The crowd was in constant motion. Will definitely be back in attendance.
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
Black owned bar. One of two in the bed-vyne chain. There is a front room with a bar and DJ & a back room with wooden benches for a more intimate vibe. You can have food delivered to you while you're here so it's pretty cool. Interesting beer and wine selection in the front but good.
google avatar

Melissa S.

Yelp
Super cute place! We went at night and got a flight of wine. All delicious lol i don't remember the names tho. The food was different but still good. I would love to come back during the day to see the different menus and atmosphere.
google avatar

Keilon L.

Yelp
It is always a pleasure to come here!! I keep forgetting (drinking too much to remember) to review. The bartenders are one the biggest draw that makes this slightly intimate space amazing. Chanel is the homie. She keeps the vibe and spirits high. Then Nori is also pretty cool too. They keep a nice rotation of seasonal brews that are typically amazing. They're generous with allowing you tastings to figure out what exactly you want to drink. They also have respectable house wines and not just crap that they put their own label on. After 8-9pm on Thursday - Saturday you're likely to walk into a party with DJ. There's never really a full time here.
google avatar

Cheyenne B.

Yelp
Took me a while to get here since living in Brooklyn. Black-owned bar that lives up to all the hype. Love that your able to chill on the street. Can get very crowded and jam packed. Men can be men and grind up on you as you move throughout the club, but if you tell them to back off they do. Kind of a basic wine and beer selection, and the prices are a little expensive for the selection. Also, getting a small plastic cup of wine wasn't the greatest. Definitely pre-game before hitting this up, definitely a vibe you're looking for though once you get there.

Ben R.

Yelp
Some non responsive attitude that didn't gel well with our hard working group of moms. Next time I go there I hope things are even more amazing at this kiss and don't tell hotspot owned by community leaders to the 6th degree!!!!! Ooh ... la la!!!!!
google avatar

Nate F.

Yelp
Though unsuspecting, this is one of those places that's a guaranteed good time. Especially during the summer time when the outdoors area is a good option. You just know it's going to be good music being played, no pretentiousness. Warning: it can get packed and tight on a weekend night when the crowd swarms in after midnight. Just a place to go to let your hair down and indulge in the vast variety of beer selection. Thumbs up
google avatar

Yelp
I like brew... been coming for years. But there's a clear distinction when ur "white crew" is there vs the regular crew... why can't I leave my tab open when the white crew is there??? Explain that to me please.

Yelp
Funky. Rustic. Chill. Date spot. Smooch in the corner in the back type of place. Dj Is awesome. I was able to dance the night away to a range of different music. Craft beer selection is not extensive but it does the job. The Bartender is amazing. I remember when she bartended at a local bar in the past. She has always been personable and attentive. I wish the chairs were bigger and had back support. These tiny seats hurts my tiny bottom!
google avatar

Yelp
It has been a while (obviously) since I have been here...I forgot to review so here we go! I honestly loved the vibe! Small place and good beers! The bartender was super nice...can't wait to go back!

Yelp
The brew kicks ass. Came here recently to enjoy a beer and some good times. Accidentally went to the Bed Vyne Cocktail first--which I'm sure is also a nice place--so be careful if you're meeting someone at Bed-Vyne and ask which one. The brew is fairly small. They've got a small outside elevated area, in case you want to enjoy your beverage outside and/or have a smoke. Inside, what you see is pretty much what you get. A long bench seating area against the left wall and some seats at the bar. There's also a open area in the back where you can stand and drink or dance. I suggest both just not at the same time. They're killing it with the music here. You'll get some good dance tunes and some great hip hop. Always feels good when Mos Def comes through the speakers. This was a Friday night, and while it was busy, I never had to wait more than a minute or two to get drinks. The bartender was friendly and attentive, which is always appreciated. If you're in the area, I'd def recommend stopping by.

Yelp
I cam her on a Thusday night with friends. This is a low-key bar with friendly staff. This establishment offers a wide variety of wines and beers. The music wasn't my cup of tea. Overall, a very chill venue. I would come back again.

Yelp
The sangria was really good. The music was great, the vibe was right. Will have to go back sometime for the beer.

Yelp
I was looking for a great local space for our baby shower which was a brunch..and turns out Bed-Vyne Brew was the spot. Norie and his team were amazing and very easy to work with. Accomadating, helpful, fun, professional. The space was perfect for my 30 guest as well as tables for food (which were washed and ready). ...the Washrooms were clean alsways a plus (important for the 3 small kids and Moms there) The space was bright with natural light, cool, great seating areas for conversation, and a real B-stuy neighborhood feel. Now for my birthday...

Yelp
If you are seeking a chill watering hole in the heart of BK..here's the spot..I'll post a video as that tells the story better than words....love!!

Yelp
This is a cute little establishment hidden in Bed-stuyversant part of town. Personally I never travel out here due to the areas crime issues, but after finding this place which I filmed in I'm more inclined to visit again. I'm a wine enthusiast that changes over to a wino after 6 drinks making this place the perfect spot for me. The location is quite small/contained but is very economical in nature. The low roof provides a cozy man cave like feel to it. The bar is small but is packed with a wide range of wines, ciders and beers. The unique aspect of the DJ area really draws me in especially with the clear liquor panel next to it. This panel of course leads to another store that sells liquor but the combination that is created between these two stores really draws my cinematographer eye. Overall a cool vibe and great place to visit during opening hours. (Just a note I was here for filming and not during the functioning of the actual store. I am mainly talking about the visual aspects I've seen)

Yelp
Another Black Owned Business that deserves all the support it gets! So I went to Brew before outdoor dining became a thing and everything was take out. My friend and I got the red and white sangria. I'm normally a red-wine type of person but the white sangria was delicious. They had a jerk stand on the side of their bar serving up some authentic jerk chicken with a variation of sides. DJ was spinning tunes for majority of the day so everyone for the most part was outside, social distancing, drinking their vino/brew, and catching a vibe. Definitely recommend this spot!

Yelp
Great local wine bar which also features a short but sweet selection of craft beers. A gathering spot for local writers and artists. Both staff and patrons were warm and welcoming to me.I look forward to returning on my next visit to the Stuy.

Yelp
My friend was always raving about this place so I desperately wanted to check it out. We came in on a Sunday evening around 9 o'clock on Labor Day weekend. The vibes were were incredibly positive and laid back which was created by the dim lighting and old school hip hop playing. I originally ordered an IPA which ended up running out of by the end of the night. There is limited seating outside as well as inside and it got fairly crowded; therefore you can be forced to mix and mingle which was actually very nice. No food is served here which is kind of a bummer is you're looking for a snack which your drink; however, they seem cool with you bringing your own as my friend had tacos delivered from a place near by. There was also what seemed to be a Grill Master parked outside selling food as well on that particular night. The one downfall for this place is that there is only 1 bathroom which created very long wait times which obviously sucks when you have to go. So you should probably get in line before you feel like you actually have to go. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my time at Bed-Vyne Brew and hope to return very soon.

Yelp
Nori! Nori! Nori! Probably one of the most friendliest bartenders I've ever met. He went above and beyond his duties as a bartender and I'm very appreciative. I came in there with a friend the other night sounding like some crazed drag queen with a sore throat and after drinking one beer, i just couldnt do it. I asked for a hot toddy. He made me a make shift hot toddy (as they are a wine and beer only establishment) and it worked, it was awesome (the measures that he took to make it was very appreciated). Besides having such an outstanding bartender, this place is pretty dope. They have a cute frontyard area, a spacious seating area/dance floor with a huge projector in the back, straight down (good for watching games, fights, etc.) I would love to return to check out the dance nights - see you guys soon! Thank you

Yelp
Okay, I know I usually review food but sometimes you just got to appreciate and recognize local businesses. First, welcome to Brooklyn, specifically Bed Stuy. While I'm born Crown Heights chick, I do love the vibe and flavor of Bed Stuy (why is is called that? Google it). Both Bed Vyne Brew and Bed Vyne Cocktail have the Bed Stuy flavor. Good DJ's, good wine, cool people, and this combination makes it all good. Admittedly, Brew gets very packed which is when I mostly make my exit but I do enjoy supporting both. Oh, did I mention they also have a wine store?
google avatar

Regina R.

Yelp
This place has a very low-key, chill vibe with great music! The first time I visited, was earlier in the day, around 7pm and it served as a perfect pre-game spot. The bartender was extremely friendly, the candles made the ambience a vibe. Def recommend for anyone looking for a chill spot to enjoy beer or wine and vibe out to music.

Yelp
I was thrown off by the hardcore German techno playing at 4 in the afternoon... as well as the group of German/Scandinavian dudes who looked like they had just stepped off the set of GOT or some other medieval tv show. Are you sure this is BedStuy? BV Brew is a cozy, laid-back spot to grab an afternoon beer. Nice selection of craft beers and ciders on tap. Several wine options (from the wine shop next door of course) available as well. Very limited, no frills chips/popcorn type nibbles. Interior is dark, woody with a large window looking out onto a small fenced-in patio area (presumably open in better weather) and the traffic on Tompkins. Friendly, prompt service (although I did come at a slow time of the day). All in all, fairly unique neighborhood craft spot for the immediate area and would certainly come back. Would love to see a couple more interesting nibbles to wash down with my beer. And maybe a bit less German techno.

Yelp
The owners of the well-regarded Bed-Vyne Wine smartly thought to open a beer garden right next door (actually, privately connect to) their wine shop, and thankfully they've done so pretty impressively. Bed-Vyne Brew offers a variety of beers - foreign and domestic, ales and ciders, stouts and odd flavorings, and more. I've now been there three times and enjoy that they offer so many choices, usually 9-10 a day, though I do at times question the selections...but then 'to each is own.' Much like the wine shop the owners and staff are generally genial. The environment at first comes off as cavernous, which is cool, as the aesthetic of the spot adds to its beer garden feel. This is perfect execution on their part. With that, my only negative are some of the barmaids. My gripe is that the ones I've dealt with do not know how to do a good 'pour' which leaves your beer very frothy, and quite frankly wastes the stores beer stock. That said, the owners/managers to a damn good pour. All in all, this is a great new neighborhood spot that while has been pretty hipster occupied, is welcoming to all. I'm sure their upcoming Oktoberfest event will attract even more folks to the business. Check 'em out.

Yelp
Friendly service and well-curated beer selection. I'm the opposite of a wine expert, but I liked the Vinho Verde that I tried too. The patio is dog friendly and we've made this a regular Friday night stop on our walk back from the Herbert Von King dog park. People there have usually been friendly too; we've struck up conversation with people lots of times. There's a DJ going inside which makes for a fun vibe and I've always liked the music when I've been in. Wouldn't be good if you needed a super quiet environment. Would work for small groups (I've seen small bday parties there), just know that there isn't really designated seating to reserve as far as I can tell.

Yelp
Gorgeous and thoughtful bar tender even on a busy Saturday night on her own, great music and cool vibes. I don't want to recommend it because I want it all to myself but they deserve your business.
google avatar

Britt W.

Yelp
You want everything BK, it's here. Best Music in the city. I have visited numerous times and it's consistent. Nothing better than wine, vibes, and then the Lobster Roll food truck.
google avatar

Yelp
This is my favorite location to listen to music. The people who come here are generally happy folk. I'm sharing spots this winter with good music, Brooklyn Music.

Yelp
I like to consider myself a staple here, mainly cause anytime that I roll up to this amazing bar I end up having the best time! This can be on a Friday night, Saturday during the day, Sunday evening, it does not matter!! This place is always poppin and the people and bartenders are TOP NOTCH!

Yelp
I came here in the summer one night after someone I'd been crushing on, said "thanks, but no thanks." I knew I was taking a chance going to a bar alone, because that can unfortunately be unsafe for women. It was a weeknight and I went there because a couple people had raved about their Gruner. The night I went, they were out of that, so I had the house white wine. It was ok. Wasn't great but I didn't hate it. Anyway, it was about 95% men and judging by the way they seemed to all know each other, I'd guess it's like that often- on weeknights at least. I wanna give 5 stars just for the music- 90's rap, maybe a little hip-hop and not all radio rap either. But I can't because when I went to the outside area, some visibly drunk dude started going on about what he wanted to do to me. In case there are any rape culture enthusiasts reading this, no, this harassment was not asked for or invited. Obviously, the bar can't have a "no assholes" policy but he was stumbling, which meant he was being served even though he was visibly drunk. I'm not trying to throw them under the bus, but when alcohol is involved, lines need to be drawn. And this guy scared me. I left before I was ready to because of him. That being said, I might consider going back (with a group) because I'm pretty sure they're Black owned and the music was great and for those reasons, I might consider giving them another chance. Idk. I would just be careful especially if you're going there on a weeknight as a single woman, since guys like him feel more comfortable harassing women in environments where men outnumber women. Unfortunate that some grown men will not take responsibility for themselves, know when to stop drinking or learn what "consent" means. Really wanted to give 4 or 5 stars but I can't. Just giving a heads up to people since I didn't get one beforehand.

Yelp
Great cider, awesome service! went here for a date and now we're DATING (can u believe it). can't wait to go back!!!

Yelp
If I lived in Brooklyn, this would be my spot. Decent crowd, great drinks, nice vibe, good music

Yelp
Have only been during happy hour, so I don't have a great sense of what the place is like late-night, but I love this place. Real into craft beer myself, so have really enjoyed their selection and prices. Real chill place, great music, bartenders are super friendly, and I've always since a great mix of folks. I don't think there's a kitchen, but likely you can bring in food if you check in with them first. Unsure, though. Oh, and believe it or not, it's a craft beer bar in Brooklyn that's NOT a gentrified hipster zone! This place is run, operated, and frequented by people that live and care about this neighborhood. This last point is THE most important to me. It helps that the place is also genuinely great.
google avatar

Andrew K.

Yelp
Recommendation: Good happy hour to stop by on your way out to dinner in the neighborhood. Drinks: A good selection of somewhat local and other small breweries on tap. I've never sampled the wine selection here, but have shopped at the store next door which had some delicious reds at a great price point. Ambiance: It always seems like a good crowd here (caveat: I've never been when the bar and outdoor space are terribly crowded but do roll by consistently on my bike and vibe outdoors always seems good). The outdoor space is in the front and side so you do get a view of the goings on on Tompkins and at the event space across the street. Location: Well positioned along the budding Tompkins restaurant corridor. Bed-Vyne is worth a stop for an outdoor beer or wine after work.

Yelp
Cool bar, good music, maybe some ska. It was busy on Saturday night without being uncomfortable. There's no liquor, just beer and wine. We liked the beers and wines. Good service too
