I came here in the summer one night after someone I'd been crushing on, said "thanks, but no thanks." I knew I was taking a chance going to a bar alone, because that can unfortunately be unsafe for women. It was a weeknight and I went there because a couple people had raved about their Gruner. The night I went, they were out of that, so I had the house white wine. It was ok. Wasn't great but I didn't hate it. Anyway, it was about 95% men and judging by the way they seemed to all know each other, I'd guess it's like that often- on weeknights at least.
I wanna give 5 stars just for the music- 90's rap, maybe a little hip-hop and not all radio rap either. But I can't because when I went to the outside area, some visibly drunk dude started going on about what he wanted to do to me. In case there are any rape culture enthusiasts reading this, no, this harassment was not asked for or invited.
Obviously, the bar can't have a "no assholes" policy but he was stumbling, which meant he was being served even though he was visibly drunk. I'm not trying to throw them under the bus, but when alcohol is involved, lines need to be drawn. And this guy scared me. I left before I was ready to because of him. That being said, I might consider going back (with a group) because I'm pretty sure they're Black owned and the music was great and for those reasons, I might consider giving them another chance. Idk.
I would just be careful especially if you're going there on a weeknight as a single woman, since guys like him feel more comfortable harassing women in environments where men outnumber women. Unfortunate that some grown men will not take responsibility for themselves, know when to stop drinking or learn what "consent" means. Really wanted to give 4 or 5 stars but I can't. Just giving a heads up to people since I didn't get one beforehand.
