25 Iconic Atlanta Restaurant Dishes to Try

"Hit the takeout window at Java Saga for a Taiwanese-style hot chicken sandwich that comes in four levels of heat: lifeline (mild), crypto (hot and numbing), octane (very hot), and predator. Each sandwich is topped with Java Lava Saga sauce and sweet pickles served on brown sugar milk toast. Order coffee or tea drinks or a mango smoothie to curb the heat. Owner Alvin Sun is relocating Java Saga to the former Master Bakery space on Buford Highway in Doraville soon, the same complex as I Luv Pho." - Beth McKibben, Eater Staff

Yelp
Sooo good. Fresh food- delicious! Look forward to go back for brunch! The fried chicken is homemade taste.

Yelp
Ordered from here with high hopes. I got the Southern Surf n Turf. The fried fish was really good, a little tough, but good. The chicken wings were not salted at all, and neither were the black eyed peas or garlic mashed potatoes. Overall quite disappointing esp if you've had good southern food.

Yelp
They are really cookin in this kitchen!!! It's solid Southern Cuisine/ Soul food Searched online for a place to eat, Found this place and drove here. Went Inside and was told to order online from my phone. Well it's a good thing that after traveling there was some charge left on my phone. Had to go back inside to inform them of an issue with their site: Every side they offered wasn't listed/available with the meal i wanted. They told me to leave a comment in the notes/comment section saying what sides i wanted. Hopefully they've fixed that by now. Overall they were friendly people. Thought about eating there. There are a few tables outside that are shared with other businesses in the area. Speaking of the area, I almost passed by this place. It's in a little plaza that's not busy and i wasn't sure if they were open. Little did I know they have a steady flow of customers and it's all take-out so ppl are in and out quickly.... I enjoyed my food. The wings were good and deliciously seasoned! I'm glad they were whole wings as opposed to up North where a "wing" is just a section of the whole. I was a fan of the sides but that's a matter of taste. Yams were a lil sweet. Black Eyed peas were yum.. I've never had Cornbread stuffing other than Stovetop, so I enjoyed that. Jury is still out on the Mac and cheese. It was good, but I would need some more to tell if I liked it or loved it... Imma try the greens next time. This trip I was just hungry and definitely not thinkin about a vegetable... I don't even think they take phone orders, which is okay to eliminate any errors in your order but Now that I know the process, order online, pay, and pick it up, it should be simple and Everything should go smoothly for an enjoyable meal from Southern Kitchen & Grill! A few notes extra I've gathered: -Because all orders on done online, if they are out of something and you order from someplace other than their site. they still haven't figured out the best way to communicate that with the customer. But if you order from their site, they will call you. - If there is ever an issue with the food (I'm sure it's only a rare occasion) their only resolution is to replace the food, not realizing/recognizing your sacrifice of time and/or efforts to get the food - If you're like me and still carry cash, that's not gonna help you here. I like using cash, but since everything is done online they take most forms of payment other than cash Once you get the hang of it, you will enjoy!!!

Yelp
Let's start off with the customer service. The customer service was on point and very great . The food is the disappointment. It's take out only , there's no seating inside . You have to order everything online and they only take cards only I spent $61 I ordered the 2 piece catfish with Mac n cheese and yams I ordered the banana pudding and strawberry crunch cheesecake my boyfriend ordered the chicken sandwich The yams was straight oil , no cinnamon or sugar a huge disappointment The Mac n cheese had no seasoning whatsoever. It was the most blandest Mac and cheese I've ever tasted in my life. I would've personally preferred Kraft Mac n cheese at this point. The honey cornbread muffin was alright . The fried fish was cooked to perfection and was the best thing out of all the food. Did everyone forget how to make homemade banana pudding ??? You know the one that starts with whole milk and eggs on the stove ? I am so tired of boxed banana pudding . Strawberry crunch cheese cake was great no complaints. Overall I feel like I caught this restaurant on a bad day and I would try them again but on someone else dime. I wasn't happy with my food at all .

Yelp
Their price points are way off for what you get. The food, while not bad, is mediocre or sometimes just above above mediocre at best. $25-$35 for basic type dishes (meatloaf, fried chicken) and $9 for basic type sides (mashed potatoes, grits, peas/beans) for small portions. Even with the average quality and taste, the prices could be justifiable if the portions were large, but their not. Also, this is not a restaurant, it's a food kitchen they sell food directly out of so it makes it even more puzzling that their prices are so inflated. There's no bottom line for all the extra requirements or expenses that come with with an actual restaurant. Typically in these type business models, prices are a little less because of that. It's literally a take out spot. I've had the fried fish, fried chicken wings, greens, mac and cheese, green beans, cornbread dressing, banana pudding. I'd love to give this a better review bc again, their food is slightly better than average making it reliable, but that with the portion size and zero dining/restaurant experience just makes their prices grossly unjustifiable. Spend your money on a standard takeout meal (single serving entree and two sides and drink) elsewhere or if you're going to pay $50 for a meal, at least get a experience/vibe, higher end quality/taste or larger portions for it elsewhere. If they right sized their meals and/or prices... this place has potential for consistent 4-5 star reviews, and probably people ordering from the a lot more often, including myself.

Yelp
I've ordered from this place twice now and have not been disappointed either time. The food and service is excellent! I enjoy food from Matthews and Magnolia Room, but Southern Kitchen blows them out of the water as well as probably most of the competition in the area when it comes to take-out comfort food. Keep in mind this is an online business. The first time I ordered here, I went through GrubHub. My other half really wanted to try the brisket. So we ordered that and a whole mess of sides (mostly for me LOL, I'm such a sides and sauces person with every meal). In any case, when I arrived I found out they had run out of brisket, but the young man helping me told me they didn't have a way to contact me via GrubHub. Even though my hubby really only wanted the brisket, I had my heart set on the sides. So I agreed to try a sampling of the other meats instead. They boxed up some catfish, plain fried wings, and a smothered turkey leg in place of the brisket we had ordered. The young man was so nice to package everything very securely and offered to bring the order out to my car when it would be ready. Excellent communication and customer service here! My mom ate the turkey, which she said she really enjoyed and looked very flavorful and moist. My other half and I worked on the catfish and chicken and sides. And let me tell you, everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection! It's rare I'll order from somewhere and be happy to try everything a second time. There was no "bad" dish. Every last dish was amazing! I called a second time to order after that and the young man who picked up said they can do phone orders but you'd probably have to bring cash down or do cashapp which I don't have on my phone. So basically you can order from their website, GrubHub, or Uber Eats like I did yesterday. There might be other platforms, but those are the ones I know of. Their website didn't work for me the past times I tried to order from them. Just yesterday I ordered all my favorite sides again and some lemon pepper wings via delivery. I got the sweet potato cheesecake for dessert which was so delicious and creamy with a perfect, cookie-like crust. I forgot to mention, the first time we also tried the strawberry crunch cheesecake also. They have a great dessert menu full of cheesecakes, pies, bread pudding, etc. I think my favorites from the menu have got to be the baked beans, dressing, and mac and cheese. They had run out of dressing yesterday, but on Uber Eats they responded quickly so I could pick a different side which was nice. I'm very picky about baked beans as I grew up on some really awesome homemade ones from my mom, but these are mouthwatering. They are the perfect mix of sweet and spicy, and I love that they use ground turkey in them. Seriously, don't sleep on this place any longer if you have been! It's worth every penny, and according to Yelp, you are also supporting a family owned and operated, veteran owned and operated, small, black business. So what are you waiting for? I know I'll be back soon. Thanks for the awesome food and service, Southern Kitchen!

Yelp
My partner and I ordered for pickup tonight and overall, extremely impressed. If half stars were allowed, I believe a 4.5 would be more appropriate. The catfish was really the star of the meal, fresh, crispy, and well seasoned. Cornbread was to die for, wish we ordered a double order! My order consisted of the Cajun corn and the tomatoes & okra while my partner ordered the 6-cheese Mac and broccoli cheddar casserole. The only thing that truly held this place back from 5 stars were really mac and broccoli casserole: mac was a little dry (assuming because it's prepared in bulk and sitting) and broccoli in the casserole could've been fresher. Nonetheless, we did enjoy the meal very much overall. We will absolutely be back! Restaurant is in a mall with other restaurants in the Prep building, you can't miss it. We ordered online and food was ready in no more than 15 mins, hot. Staff went above + beyond. Last, do not sleep on the pineapple lemonade!!!

Yelp
I found out about this place a few months ago and decided to finally give them a try. I was craving some soul food this past Sunday and they were bookmarked and nearby. I was familiar with the the set-up having visited the another restaurant in this location. It may throw others off, bc it the outside looks a warehouse. But there are several restaurants in building. I wasn't sure if they took cash beforehand, but when you walk in, you order by kiosk (they have two). The staff did greet me and had a little friendly banter with me. I didn't ask, but it seemed like credit/debit only. Once you place your order, you go back to your car and they will bring it out. There is some minor outdoor seating, but it's not evening/night friendly due to minimal lighting. I must say, I was a tad disappointed. I ordered the 5 wing dinner that comes with 2 sides. The wings were not super big. I thought 5 would be a lot, but it wasn't. The seasoning was ok...slightly bland and not as crispy as I'd like. I ordered mac and cheese and collards. The collards were delicious. And they were cooked with smoked turkey, so it is friendly for the non-pork eaters. The mac and cheese was ok. I felt it need a pinch of salt. The meal also came with a honey cornbread muffin. It seemed a little overcooked and also bland. All in all, my meal was just ok. I did find it to be a bit pricey for the taste. That meal is $18 before tax and tip. Not sure if I will try them again bc of the price point vs. flavor.

Yelp
Not happy with order at all. I should have known something was off when I didn't see actual cooking going on. I ordered the fish meal. And the fish was literally warmed up left over; So dry, hard, need some additional old bay or something. The laziness is ridiculous. Like it takes 6 minutes to fry fish. Thankfully I only spent like 12 bucks. I will never go here again....ever.

Yelp
It's too expensive to be mediocre. I spent $30 on a veggie plate, and everything was nasty from the Mac and cheese to the yams. I couldn't even eat the collard greens. I ran into a lady sitting outside eating their chicken and waffles as I was walking into the burger joint next door, and she was disgusted with her meal as well. How do you mess up a waffle? It looked all rubbery, and the wings were tiny. Tragic. They need a whole new chef. Don't do it, reconsider.

Yelp
I came across this place on Yelp after an appointment. I was headed back to work, and wanted to grab something good for a coworker and I. I wish I could have paused to take a picture, but the food was amazing! My colleague even enjoyed it. Good size portions, and great seasoning. This is a great take out spot for a quick soul food meal! We ordered two 5pc fried chicken wings with two sides. We tried the green beans, sweet potatoes/yams, mac and cheese, and potato salad! We loved them all. The sides were all packaged separately and pretty hefty portions. I can't wait to try again. Maybe next time I'll get a picture.

Yelp
I've been curious about Southern Kitchen for a while now, after frequent visits to surrounding restaurants. So on a whim, we stopped in for lunch one Friday and we were pleasantly surprised. Service was on point! As soon as we entered, we were greeted warmly and promptly helped. It was fried fish friday (woohoo!) so we ordered the daily special of the fried fish and of course, I had to see what their bbq was all about with the Pit Master Trio - because sometimes you just gotta go big or go home. Everything was delicious - although I think I preferred the fried catfish over the bbq meats. I did appreciate how tender the ribs were, and you really didn't need much sauce on the meat for it to go down easy. I really enjoyed the sides, as well! That broccoli and cheese casserole (I believe that's what it was called...) was my favorite. Can't wait for the next Friday I have free to pop in for lunch!

Yelp
Very disappointed!! I drove 21-miles to get to this restaurant. I ordered Turkey wings and dressing. I added two sides,, collard greens and black eyed peas and muffin. They scorched my Turkey wings so baddddd that even the inside of the wing tasted scorched and it was dry. I don't think ive ever had a dry flat on Turkey before. The collard greens had a little too much garlic in them. My dressing was super dry even with the two teaspoons of gravy they provided in a ramekin. The black eyed peas were good. My man ordered fried catfish creamed corn and rice and broccoli casserole. His was good with exception of the casserole. Did i mention i was disappointed... The fact that they gave me that burnt "A" Turkey wing was disrespectful and shows poor customer service. Not to mention our food total was $48. My side of collard greens were in a small container like the other sides; however, the container wasn't even half full. I would not recommend this restaurant and it is takeout or delivery only

Yelp
Cool spot right off the highway. Pick up only. No dine in. Food was prepared on time and tasted great! I ordered: Chicken tenders Cornbread Mac n Cheese Collards Their BBQ sauce was tasty. The tenders weren't over cooked so it was nice and juicy. Ha! Cornbread was addictively good. Mac cheese was straight and the collards had a kick. They were open late so I would order again. Especially if I'm craving their menu items.

Yelp
I had been craving southern cooking since I ate the last of my Thanksgiving leftovers so I get on yelp to search soul food near me. I come across Southern Kitchen & Grill, read the reviews and I'm set. I will be trying it next time I order out. I decide to order Saturday evening 12/3 and let me just say, I'm a little disappointed. I decide on the turkey wing meal and add Mac n cheese and collard greens. The stars of the show was the dressing that comes with the turkey wing and the collard greens. Greens were nice and Smokey and flavorful! Dressing was flavorful and thick (how I like it). The Mac Mac cheese was just ok (I make better). Now on to these dry turkey wings. They so wrong for selling a customer this dry piece of meat. It was so dry I barely could eat it and you know it's dry when I can't even eat the wing tip (rolls eyes). Overall, I'll probably pass next time I decide to order soul food out. You can tell how dry the wing is by the photo. So disappointed cause I was looking forward to writing a great review. Customer service was really good and staff was friendly! Total cost of meal: about $32

Yelp
I was very disappointed about the food, on Friday 3/19. I have been bragging about the food in the past, order here a lot, but this time it didn't go well with me or my family. The fish I asked to be fried extra. It was, but the majority of the fish was bread. The ribs were super dry, the collard greens didn't have any seasoning, and the mac and cheese was dry and burned. The desserts were the only thing that was delicious. I had a large order, and again disappointed. I'll try again on another day. I know this isn't how this restaurant cook.

Yelp
My cousin ordered food & got me fried chicken. It was delicious. She got a catfish plate & loved it. I will definitely return.

Mimi J.

Yelp
Ordered thru GrubHub and the food was just ok at best. I ordered the fried chicken & fish combo with two sides (Mac & Cheese and Cornbread Dressing) and the Strawberry Shortcake Cheesecake. To start the cornbread muffin was dry, the cornbread dressing was under seasoned and they didn't include enough gravy so also dry. The fried chicken was bland and hard however the fried fish and strawberry shortcake saved the meal. Fish was seasoned and fried well & the cheesecake was tasty. Maybe I caught them on a bad day but I'm not willing to spend another $80 to find out.

Rick J.

Yelp
Driving through Atlanta and stopped by this place based on Yelp reviews. First thing: you have to order ahead and pay online. No cash and there's a service fee. That being said, at first I thought $20 for chicken tender combo meal??? But it was a lot of chicken tenders. Easily can split that for 2 people and each would get a side. The collards were good but the potato salad was to die for. I believe they snuck some bacon in that recipe. I'd go back just for that. Now the criticism. We thought the chicken was over cooked. Outside was hard and rubbed the roof of my mouth raw. It was definitely hot when they put it in the styrofoam as it melted the two boxes together. Maybe wrap some foil around the tenders to prevent that? Also, you should consider making your own ranch. That prepackage stuff is garbage. I'd go back, just know it's not a dine in place.

Yelp
Could have missed this place driving by as it's in business park with a group of other pop up industrial kitchens. They are takeout only with online ordering only, as I learned. Seemed like the locals were well versed in the drill as there was steady traffic even after 7pm on a Sunday night. I opted for the the catfish with sides of garlic mash and collard greens, joined by their cornbread muffin. The entree was made to order as the fish came out with a heavenly light crisp coating and spot on flavor. It was perfectly flaky as catfish can be over cooked turning it into rubber. Garlic mash was fluffy, I could still sense the crunchy bits of fresh garlic and collards were tender with bites of smoked turkey for additional flavor. Not to be missed if you're in the Atlanta area, bring a huge appetite, you won't be disappointed, it was indeed Sunday supper at Momma's.

Yelp
I did not feel like cooking but wanted a good southern meal! They didn't disappoint at all! Wings Seasoned and cooked perfect, Mac n cheese, and green beans were really tasty

Yelp
My oh my this was certainly a winner and we will be back! One of my co workers recommended this spot for lunch. At first glance everything sounded delicious so I had a bit of a struggle choosing. I'm not sure why but the ribs were calling my name and i'm not even a big ribs person. The ribs were delicious and so was everything else! For sides i had the mac n cheese and broccoli casserole. The casserole was seriously drool worthy and I do believe that the cornbread was the best I've ever had!! My teammate got the surf and turf combo with mac n cheese and green beans and had no complaints. We had a plethora of desserts - red velvet cake, peach cobbler cheesecake and pineapple upside down cheesecake as well as some lemonade. We. Ate. It. Alllll. I can't wait to bring my husband here soon! My only constructive criticism is that I think they should offer lunch portions since the portions are HUGE and prices are on the high end for lunch. I'd gladly order more often if this was an option.

Yelp
food is cool. prices are NUTS. they've doubled prices on everything. lost a customer.

Yelp
I really like this place. It's in the area off of 85 north access road called "Prep", which seems like a lot of commercial kitchens that serve to-go food. Some of them, like Farmhouse cafe, I think you can actually dine in. But I appreciate Southern Kitchen because I can order online through their website (so they don't have to pay those delivery service fees) and conveniently pick up or have it delivered. There is plenty of parking out front so I have never had an issue with that. The catfish is the only entree I've tried so far, and it is delicious! The 6 cheese macaroni?! Fire!! The honey butter cornbread muffin?!?! Love it! The only thing that I didn't care for were the green beans, they were too salty for me but I'll just try a different side next time. They also have cakes/pies for sale that look heavenly but I haven't tried those yet either. Will do for sure though. The employees are really kind and friendly and I think they had a 100 health score! I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
OMG! When I say I was impressed!! The customer service is outstanding from ALL of the staff. The were so welcoming. My friend kept raving about this place so we just had to go check it out! One thing that stood out to me was that the person in the from went above and beyond with customer service and the staff all said that you in unison to us when we left out of the restaurant. The place is very clean! All the staff had on mask, gloves and hairnets! We got drinks a meal and desert. The food was good. The dessert was delicious! We had the pineapple lemonade, it was good. All the food was fresh!

Yelp
First of all let's get j to the packaging. 11/10. No mess at all whatsoever. The wings were great but those collards, macaroni, & yams????????? The stars of the show. Very hospitable and speedy service. I will be back again!

Yelp
I was referred by a friend to Southern Kitchen & Grill. Their Blackeye peas were great!! I went on a Sunday so the staff informed me they were out collard greens. I ordered two pies but only received one. The one pie I did receive in my takeout order was Cinnabon Cheese Cake which was delicious!! The beef brisket I ordered was very good as well. I will be going back to try their collard greens & a different cheese cake which they did have large variety of flavors..

Dahlia R.

Yelp
Absolutely not! No flavor, everything is tasteless. We ordered meatloaf, Mac, mash potatoes. Greens, black eye peas, dressing, corn bread muffins and a smothered turkey wing for $80 on uber eats. Waste of money and we were extremely disappointed. My gravy for the turkey wing was EXTREMELY watery and not thick like a normal gravy for a turkey wing should be. I took a bite of the corn bread muffin and literally spit it out. How do you mess up corn bread? It tasted like cardboard. My boyfriend took a bite of the dressing and also spit it out. We ate a few bites of what we could get down but honestly nothing was appetizing. I'm not a fan of over salted food but NO seasoning is crazy. Maybe it was a bad day for this place so try it at your own will. But the food is highly over priced for the quality, taste and portions. Very disappointing

Yelp
I ordered a Chicken Tender meal with fries and broccoli casserole, and a strawberry shortcake, for a total of $32. Not cheap, but based on the ratings I figured it'd be worth it. When I got back to my hotel I noticed that my fries were missing. Major bummer!!! I also noticed, and was surprised, that the chicken tenders were nothing more than the run of the mill frozen-then-deep-fried variety. Nothing special there, def not hand breaded, or spiced. I called the place to let them know and as I was explaining the situation I noticed it was oddly quiet at the other end. After asking "are you there" about five times, I finally had to hang up the call. I then called back again and the women who answered the phone told me that on the last call, she "put me on mute" to go get her manager and that's why it seemed like no one was there. Huh? Then just unmute the phone! How crazy. So, I went on to explain the situation again and after another long, awkward silence, she came back on the line and said they had my French Fries, will I be coming back to get them. No! I will definitely not. I already came out to get my $32 dinner. I'm certainly not going back out again for some cold, lymp Fries. As I was explaining why I wouldn't be coming back, the line went silent again. Again, I repeatedly asked, is anyone there? Finally after several more minutes of silence, I hung up the phone again. Basically, this place is a joke. I hope the owner reads this, and then with my $32 takes a good hard look at themselves to determine if they're in the right line of business.

Yelp
Babyyyyy. Let me tell y'all. I actually went to Brunch at this place called Bermuda Bar in Duluth, the food was not doing anything for me and I really didn't car for there menu so I decided I wanted fried fish. Like really really bad! I looked at the reviews first obviously and decided to drive 20 min to see what it was giving. When I tell y'all I smashed my plate before I made it to my destination, it's the gospel truth! The staff was very friendly. The place isn't huge. It's actually an extension of Prep kitchen, which I'm totally in support of. But they have every kind of cake like Caramel Crunch, Sweet Potato Cheesecake, And I opted in for Strawberry Crunch Cheesecake. I really couldn't decide because I was balling on a budget so I just got one side. But I will most definitely be back. The got greens, beans, potatoes, tomatoes you name it! And make no plans after that because your sleepy after your done. But definitely a must try. 10/10 I recommend. And get a Mamas Mix lemonade. Your welcome.

Yelp
The fried chicken plate was extremely good! I've been looking for a really good soul food place near me and I'm beyond happy that I've stumbled upon this one. Everything was seasoned so well and tasted like it was made with love. I also had the strawberry shortcake for my dessert and when I checked in my bag they added a mini piece of Bundt cake in it, which is double the dessert :) Before ordering , I even called to make sure they were still operating (everything is funny with Covid) & the lady who answered was extremely sweet & the guy who brought my food out on arrival was so nice. It's nothing like great food & great customer service. I will deff be going back & adding this restaurant to my list of good eats to frequent.

Yelp
My husband and I pulled up at this restaurant after a brief online search of the closest Southern Style restaurant and were a bit surprised there were no other vehicles parked in the parking lot. He went inside to inquire only to find out it's an online ordering only and pick up- it's not a sit down restaurant! Lol at us not reading the description online properly before heading out! We sat in the car and ordered online: he ordered fried catfish with rice, collared greens and smoked Turkey, and I ordered ribs, rice, and collard greens with smoked Turkey. We both ordered corn muffins as well. Can I tell you that in less than 20 minutes we saw a young man walking from inside the restaurant towards our car beckoning to speak to us. We rolled our windows down, he confirmed our orders and told us it's ready and he will take it to us! I was shocked it was ready so quickly and became suspicious that it probably wasn't done to perfection. Boy oh boy was I wrong. Once home, we dove into the bag and sorted/shared our meals each sampling the others order. The catfish was well seasoned and well done . The ribs were the same! As for the corn muffin, moist, lovely and not dry at all. We weren't too fond of the collard greens and smoked Turkey but ate it anyways, I ate more of it than my husband did, lol. Our overall experience with the service and the food was excellent! We will definitely be ordering from them again since we are staying in ATL for the entire month of August - our first visit here in ATL btw, and definitely won't be our last. We will be back soon and we will definitely be ordering food again from this restaurant! Great job team!

Yelp
This place surf n turf will change your life! Yes, change your life! It was crispy and seasoned well. The food was moist and flavorful. The pound cake was pretty good, but the pineapple lemonade juice is very tasty! I recommend this to everyone.

Yelp
The sides were delicious. The wings were way overdone. The barbecue pork and brisket were delicious. I wouldn't give them an average score of 4 1/2 though.

Yelp
Yuuuuuuum! Stumbled upon this restaurant online and came straight to Yelp to bookmark it lol. We did take out since we live in Douglasville and I had the hubby go pick it up. We ordered the following: Order 1: Chicken Wings Meal - This was my meal and it was on point. From the chicken to the sides. Included: Chicken Wings Meal with Baked Beans w/Ground Turkey, 6 Cheese Macaroni, and a Brown Butter Honey Muffin Order 2: Southern Surf N Turf - The hubby had this and enjoyed it. And....he actually ended up putting food in the fridge. So that means the portion beat the hungry husband test. Of course I tasted his sides and they were good. I prefer my candied yams on the sweeter side, but these were still good. Included: Fried Combo (Chicken & Fish) with Candied Yams, Collards With Turkey (Mixed Greens), and Brown Butter Honey Muffin Okay and of course I ordered an extra muffin for me lol and once I few they had peach lemonade...I had to get a gallon. And I'm glad I did... bomb And... saving the best for last.... that freaking Sweet Potato Cheesecake. Phew....I see why it's a top seller. Can't wait to try something else.

Yelp
I eat here often the food is normally good. I went on Friday ordered two fish meals when I arrived home my fish & candy yams was burnt. This is what turned me off with this business I called left them a message letting them know to call me back because my food is burnt I live 15 minutes away. Not one manager called back to apologize for the food I couldn't eat. They lost a customer I will not support a business who doesn't give good customer service.

Yelp
I ate here for the first time, and let me tell you that they did not disappoint! I wish I took more pictures but I finished my food too fast lol. Anyways, I ordered the 2 pc fish with their garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans. Everything was hot, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Also, I'm their banana pudding was delicious! Not to mention, the guy and lady that were in there were professional and nice!

Yelp
Total nonsense...I ordered via Uber eats. The banana pudding...wasn't it was whip cream. Rename the dish because there wasn't a lick of pudding or bananas. It was some whipped cream and square shaped cookies. The cheesecake/peach cobbler...same...it was whip cream. Turkey wings didn't have any season and looked like they were boiled. Dressing was gritty. Greens...tasted like glory greens! Never again. Pure shame

Yelp
First time visiting yesterday. Ordered catfish which was seasoned well, candied yams, which were not done, they were so hard I had to throw them away, the mac and cheese was fair, the seasoning was off for me. Not my ideal of good southern cooking. The portion sizing was good and the order was ready when I arrived.

Yelp
Gave this a second chance and I will say the catfish was much better. Breaded and fried to perfection. I wasn't in the mood for Mac n cheese (or wasting $) so instead I got the fried cabbage and collards. The cabbage was delicious though- I loved it and the collards were not dry this time around and had a better overall flavor. I asked for them in a separate container like the owner suggested. Idk if I have bad luck with this place or what but my cornbread muffin, which I was looking forward to bc I loved it last time, wasn't fully baked (pic below). I didn't notice it til I got home ready to eat and was not driving all the way back to get another one. Finally, my curbside experience was MUCH better than last time. They answered the phone the first time I called and the lady brought out my food shortly after. It would be nice if they comped the items that were undercooked or mis-cooked bc I cant keep throwing away money (muffin and Mac n Cheese from last time)

Yelp
You have to order online for pick up or delivery but when I tell you this is a hidden gem. The shrimp and grits was really good. And the cheesecake. Pick one they are all good

Yelp
This was a back up choice as I'm back again wanting catfish lol. Their catfish isn't bad, the flavor is different from the last place I got catfish from. Different in a good way, I prefer their flavor, but the pieces were hard to chew because they were almost too hard. I think a fresher batch might be 5/5. I liked the string beans, but their yams weren't my favorite. My bf said the Mac and cheese and collards green were okay. The strawberry crunch cheesecake looks better than it looks; that was a big disappointment for me. Service was great though.

Yelp
I ordered delivery so I can't comment on the establishment itself. My delivery was securely sealed upon arrival. The food was pretty good and the portion size lasted me 2 days. I ordered the 5 wings, two sides, muffin and sweet potato cheesecake. Chicken wings- smaller sized which I prefer over those ginormous, steroid looking wings. The flavor was decent, they could've been more crispy. Candied yams- nice portion for a side and yummy. Cornbread dressing- Gross! Good sized portion though... Muffin- it was supposed to be a honey muffin, but it was dry and not sweet. I've had better from a box. Sweet potato cheesecake- Nice sized slice. Not too sweet, tasted good. Overall, it was a decent attempt at soul food. I'd recommend trying them for yourself. I personally won't return.

Yelp
Im very disappointed. Drove from Duluth reviews say the place is pretty decent. 35 dollars later..... brisket dry gave me very little. Potato salad had hard chunks in it that I almost chocked on. Went back in to trade for corn bread dressing it was burnt & disgusting. Oh man im so sad yams was decent smh . I will never be back rather eat wendys.

Yelp
I ordered fried chicken, yams, macaroni and cheese and banana pudding. Everything was seasoned well but the chicken was cooked a little too hard, almost like jerky. I would go again but make sure I check my bag and food before I leave.

Yelp
I randomly googled soul food restaurants near where I was while at the park and this location was listed. It was only 10 minutes away, I decided to give it a try. It's location is on a frontage road but really easy to navigate. They are practicing social distancing and only allow 3 people in the restaurant at once and they being your food to you once your order is complete. The Atmosphere: Very friendly staff! Ayesha was warm and friendly and greeted me as soon as I came in. She is one of those women you can tell "can cook"....as we say in the south. The other members of her team were equally friendly. They have limited seating outside, but quite frankly with food like this, you want to take it home and eat it...like you want to eat it lol! The Food: They offer a variety of southern comfort food ranging from smothered turkey wings to fried catfish filets. I chose the latter. The catfish was seasoned very well and cooked in fresh oil, because I went late in the evening, some of the sides were sold out. I was able to get dressing and broccoli/rice casserole. Both were very delicious. For dessert I had banana pudding. It was delicious and prepared using the chessman cookies. The Price: The price point is very manageable. I included a picture of the menu. Entree prices start at $10 which is very economical for the area/location. Portion Sizes: Very generous portion sizes. This isn't my last visit! I look forward to trying the other items on the menu.

Yelp
staff seems a bit rude and the mashed potatoes have a weird texture, the fish was cool
