"This is a great Theater District option, as evidenced by the friendly wait staff (many of whom are cued up for their big break on Broadway) and great cocktails (hilariously named after Tony Award winners—we like the Patti Lupomegranate and the Orange Julius Andrews). The dinner menu focuses on American cuisine and changes seasonally to accommodate locally sourced vegetables, but the brunch is also really great."

44 & X - Review - Hell's Kitchen - New York - The Infatuation

"44 & X is an expensive restaurant on 44th and 10th Avenue with white tablecloths and people eating sirloin and sea scallops. 44X is good for a dinner with your parents or when money isn’t a thing and you just want a really nicely cooked piece of fish or a cocktail that’s named after a broadway show (“Mean Girls ‘Burn Book Bubbly’” and “Aperols in America” to name a few). On the weekends though, this place turns into a busy brunch spot for the younger, neighborhood crowd. They have a separate Broadway-actor-themed cocktail list for brunch." - Hannah Albertine

OMG! What an amazing delight to my senses. The food is visually appealing and once you take a bite you are in for a ride of savory and creamy and sweetness. I could taste clear blue waters in my lobster taco. It’s was a sweetness and the sauce was so complete it perfectly balanced. My entire meal was one amazing surprise and gift rolled into one after the other. Please try eating here it’s an amazing experience!

Located in Hell's Kitchen, we found a piece of heaven! Truly knocked us out last night! On a friend's recommendation, we made reservations and gave it a try. As soon as you step through the door, you realize you're in for an unforgettable dining journey. The atmosphere is great, and the service is A+. Thank you, Steven! We selected Scallops as our starter. Devine!! Every last bite was a tiny piece of heaven. For entrees, I went with the house special, Branzino, and my dining partner chose the chipolte and citrus marinated pork tenderloin. We're still debating on who had the more delicious dinner. Unbelievable flavor medley in both dishes. We were too full to indulge in desserts, so we're headed back for a second meal here on our 4 day visit!

I went to the theatre and needed a place to have dinner with friends. The first restaurant that came to mind was 44 & X. We were greeted with a friendly smile as soon as we walked through the door and seated immediately. The service was great, food presentation and portion size was impressive. Lots of flavor. This restaurant does not disappoint even after 25 years. It was nice to see Scott again. Looking forward to going back.

I had a large potion of salmon, served medium which was, by itself, dry and without flavor. The accompanying vegetables were tasty. You may find it helpful to know that it is exactly across the street from a Target store.

This restaurant is exactly my type of vibe. I love it for several reasons, but the top two are the location and the amazing brunch. Nestled in a prime spot, it offers a delightful ambiance that's perfect for a leisurely meal. The terrace provides a lovely view, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The brunch menu is fantastic, with a variety of delectable options. My favorite will always be the Eggs Benedict – they’re perfectly cooked with rich, creamy hollandaise sauce. The omelette my partner had was also really good, fluffy, and packed with fresh ingredients. However, the service wasn’t the best. For some reason, it’s hard to find a place in NYC with consistently nice service. Despite this, I really appreciate the friendly and attentive staff, who contribute to the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere when they’re on point. It's an ideal spot to unwind, whether you're having a casual brunch with friends or a special meal with loved ones. I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Definitely coming back soon!

Visited 44&x for pre-theater dinner and we were not disappointed…the food, the atmosphere, the service was everything! It was the perfect place to catch up with friends over shared plates and light bites. The menu was extensive and innovative yet approachable for every palette…there’s something for everyone! The owners are delightful and paid attention to each table, which is rare to find in a manhattan restaurant these days. We will definitely be back! Thanks Scott!!

Goat cheese, short ribs, chocolate souffle is all I have to say. So good!! It was worth it! The service was awesome and they were polite and attentive.

Yelp
Solid brunch spot, especially for a large group in Manhattan. I've dined at 44 & X a few times, each time had been with a table of 6-10. Each time it's seemed like there was at least one other table of the same size. I think they do a great job at accommodating larger tables, even on pretty short notice. I only took photos of my husband's food and my own to not disrupt my fellow diners but the full table enjoyed their food. My husband got the Vermont cheddar greens with fresh herb eggs with sausage. I got the scrambled eggs with mushrooms, bacon and potatoes. Everything tasted very fresh with quality ingredients. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the berries were sweet despite having them in January.

Yelp
44 & X is a Hell's Kitchen staple! I've been here countless times over the years and never had a bad experience. The staff is always so kind (and good looking) and the food always delicious. They are just so consistent. Love that they still wear the fun Heaven and Hell t-shirts! Since I've been here many times over the years, I knew when we arrived we were being greeted by the owner Scott, who is a total gentleman (and pretty funny). He kindly welcomed us in and sat us at our table for 5. The waiter promptly came over to take orders and was great all evening checking on our needs. If I see short ribs on a menu, I get them. Here they were perfect - tender, juicy, and falling apart. It was served over a bed of smoked gouda mashed potatoes. I could have had a second serving despite being so full because it was that good. One friend had the same as me. There were also 2 steak frites and one filet mignon. Everyone loved their food. I had the Sancerre Les Cailottes which was superb. I will also reference a visit here this past summer where I almost ordered the short ribs, but the waiter said if you always order that get something else, so I tried the pork tenderloin with goat cheese polenta and apricot chutney. If they have that on the menu when you go, it is just as delicious and I would recommend it as well. I live nearby and everytime I walk past at brunch or dinner time they are always packed which is a testament to their reputation after all these years! They also have a side door where you can see into the kitchen and I love to stop and watch the cooks do their thing. Its amazing what they can crank out in such a small space. Side note - they had a sister restaurant down the block 44 1/2 which I still miss to this day!!!!

Yelp
Business dinner and we arrived at 6:50 for a 6:45 reservation. It was such a nice evening, we sat outside on the patio, which was excellent. The service was EXTREMELY slow. It took about 25 minutes for our drinks order to be taken. Then another 15 for the drinks to come. When they came we ordered some appetizers. Being vegan, there was pretty much nothing on the menu I could eat. Though the waiter made a notation, nothing was offered as an option for an entree. The group ordered for appetizers Terrine of Roasted Beets and Goat Cheese, Goat Cheese and Pistachio Soufflé, Raviolo of Maine Lobster, Maryland Crab Meat. They all said it was delicious after the 20 minute wait. Next for entrée, the orders were Buttermilk Fried Chicken, a Salmon special, Grilled Braised Short Ribs, Blue Crab Fritter (appetizer), and I got the Chopped Mediterranean Salad. Everyone devoured their food saying each of them was excellent. My salad came out and it was not what I was expecting. Mostly cucumbers that were cubed with onions and olives. The dressing was bland, and I like bland, but was expecting a bit more. I ate half and my colleague at the other half. I cannot say I will go back for that. For dessert I had the apple pie but cold and with no ice cream and it was good. the others shared the pumpkin brioche bread pudding saying it was very rich but good. I give it only 3 stars because the service was extremely slow, he outdoor seating could be more comfortable with better furniture and, mostly, in this day and age, a restaurant should have vegetarian/vegan choices so that everyone can enjoy the experience.

Yelp
Solid 4. Short version: Food: 5 Service: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Facility: 2, maybe 3 Here's the breakdown - A neighborhood gem in the heart of Hell's Kitchen, 44 & x has been around a while. An upscale, American restaurant, they pride themselves on "reinventing American classics," and to that, their menu is solid whether you come for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Price points are higher than average, and the service and food are aligned with the price point so the value is present. On a recent visit, we sat outside for dinner and brought out-of-town family with us. With impeccable service, we ordered a few drinks, appetizers, dinner, and dessert. The "Tequila for Elephants" cocktail, a blood orange-grapefruit margarita was a favorite, and the mezcal-mango based "Smokewood" cocktail was also good too. They also have a solid wine list. For an appetizer, we got the goat cheese and pistachio soufflé , made well and with balanced flavors, we practically licked the plate clean. (Okay, not really) For entrees, we really enjoyed the ancho chili rubbed pork tenderloin and the sautéed halibut, which was served with vegetables in a medeira emulsion. The fallen chocolate soufflé dessert was the perfect ending to the meal , satisfying that want for a little sweetness balanced out with a Tahitian vanilla gelato. Presentation of tableware, service points, and food were all great, too, however, the overall restaurant could use a little love as it's dated and showing its age for such an upscale and elegant place. If they were to invest in the space as much as they invest into the food and service, it would easily be a 5 star experience.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with a friend. The interior decor was beautiful and elegant. There was a sleek, fancy vibe to the place. Also, the restrooms were so pretty, lit up in hot pink with candle lights and pink roses all around. I ordered the Pistachio crusted Tilapia, served with roasted sweet potatoes, caramelized brussel sprouts, zucchini, shiitake mushroom, topped with Maine lobster jumbo crab ravioli. The size of the Tilapia was generous with a tasty delicate and nutty pistachio crust. The fish was tender, flaky, and well seasoned. The ravioli was perfectly cooked with plenty of flavorful lobster crab filling. The vegetable medley was fresh and soft. All of this was in a creamy, rich sauce. My friend had the Rack of Lamb crusted with sweet potato and hazelnut. This came with wild mushroom, artichoke gratin, and grilled asparagus. I really enjoyed this, as the lamb was wonderfully succulent, juicy, and slightly crispy on the edges. The sauce was savory and full of flavor pan juices. For dessert, we shared housemade cookies and petits fours. There were 2 of each, so it worked well. We started with the Strawberry Macaron, which was fruity and had a nice chewy consistency, but tasted more like raspberry. Next, we tried the Pistachio and Apricot Cake, which was similar to marzipan and satisfyingly sweet. The Chocolate Crunch Cupcake was rich, deeply chocolate-y, while the frosting was velvety and simply delightful. We had the Lemon Curd Tartlet last, which was light and refreshing with a yummy crunchy crust. Service was wonderful. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, as well as knowledgeable about the menu. Prices are a little on the higher end. I was sad that it had just changed to Spring, because they no longer had the Sticky Toffee Pudding dessert. I would like to return to try the Short Rib, Breast of Duck and hopefully Sticky Toffee Pudding will make a comeback.

Yelp
Went for dinner and this time was very impressed with both food and service! The restaurant was super accommodating to our accessibility needs and didn't blink an eye when friends who had told us they weren't coming started showing up out of nowhere and joining our table. Super laid back for an upscale place, super appreciated. My sea bass, recommended by lovely waiter Jose, was phenomenal. My friends were also very happy with their meals. I think dinner is stronger than brunch here. Lots of seating outdoors including a ramped and heated cabana in the street.

Yelp
One of our favorite brunch spots in the area. The interior is very warm and friendly with white table clothes. Service is quick - though sometimes a bit too eager to get you out when it's busy. The brunch portions are large - though at their price point they'd have to be. My favorite highlight are the mini muffins they bring instead of bread.

Yelp
Came to this place for lunch on an odd day around 2:30 PM. This place is very beautiful. Inside prices are very reasonable and the food is amazing and so is the help and all their staff , I highly recommend this place if you're in the area I will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
had heard good things about this place from a colleague, but it didnt meet my expectation. maybe it's a brunch menu, but i was not impressed with the food offered. The staffs are really friendly, but we sat at the patio there are homeless walked by begging for food, the staffs were just standing right next to our table not doing anything. I have to admit that they do have really cute drink menu with broadway name twist. and pretty big selection of brunch. I tried their crab cake dish, and the crab cake was disappointing. does not have chunks of crab, instead, more flour inside , and it only came with one medium size crab cake which is about the size of the egg, most of the plate only just filled up with potatoes for $27. I dont see the value of it.

Yelp
We had an AMAZING dinner here. First off, the staff couldn't possibly be more friendly and welcoming. We had theatre tickets and the staff was so accommodating to us. We started with delicious cocktails and a pistachio and goat cheese mousse. Amazing. Then we enjoyed the sole and the lobster salad. Wow. Seriously. Wow. The restaurant decor is simple and lovely. This is a MUST TRY.

Yelp
There is a lot of potential here. It's a great space and the menu was very enticing. Everything sounded amazing. We also had great service. I appreciated some of the little touches. For instance, the basket of mini muffins prior to our meal. We didn't order drinks but the tables around us did dnd they look nice. I ordered coffee and our waiter continued to refill to without prompting (always appreciated) The food itself looked great but the taste were lacking. I ordered the Eggs Royal (basically a lox Benedict) with roasted potatoes. There was a lack of flavor and seasoning. It was beautiful but bland. However, my eggs were perfectly cooked (jammy) My husband had the herbed eggs and cheesy grits. The eggs were under seasoned. And tough. No fluffiness. The grits didn't feel cohesive. The cheese was just melted on top in a slab.

Yelp
Came here for a work dinner and the staff was amazing. Their drinks are great and the food was plentiful. I would say the mahi mahi was a little tough to eat but the risotto made up for it.

Yelp
44 & X can best described as New American Cuisine. What first caught my attention were the brown T-shirts that the servers wore. The front says "Heaven" while the back reads "Hell." Pretty funny, yet appropriate as they're right on the corner of 44th Street and 10th Avenue right in the middle of Hell's Kitchen. It' was a party of 6, unfortunately our group couldn't be seated indoors when there was already a reservation for 6 at the same time. Our group was the only ones dining outside and it was extremely hot and uncomfortable being fanned with hot recycled outdoor air. I will say, I love the ambiance and decor both indoors and outdoors, for sure next time I will want to be seated inside. For my first time here, I was previously recommended by a local to try out this place for dinner as it's really popular and a must try. My work colleague had also suggested we all meet up this past Wednesday afternoon for early dinner. If you're familiar with Broadway Shows, their cocktail menu has references to popular musicals that are in season or popular shows from the past. They also change their food menu seasonally, so you may or may not have the same dish twice. I ordered something that I usually like to eat, For starters, I picked their roast chicken quesadilla with pico de gallo and avocado relish. Another person in the group also ordered the same. For my main, I ordered the pan seared filet mignon with potatoes au gratin. Me and the others in the group was surprised by the size of my filet mignon! For what I picked, both were really good! The portion size was very large, I didn't eat my carrots, nor did I eat all of the potatoes, much so I could have had leftover vegetables to take home. Javier was our server, he was pretty darn good at what he does here. While the entire menu both drinks and food menu looks good, I'm already interested in coming back to try out more. None of us got dessert because we were all full. It's always a scene here in Hell's Kitchen. Dressing up is optional, but if you want to impress your friends and dinner company, why not?

Yelp
The food was extremely mediocre and the drinks were over priced considering how water downed they were. Definitely not coming here again, plus the owner is a Zionist

Yelp
Gayle and I recently got together with her friend Glenn who lives in NYC, but worked with her at the Contra Costa Times several years ago. She hadn't seen her Jewish friend for years, but soon after we sat down outside at 44 & X Hell's Kitchen, they easily picked up where they left off. We met for what turned out to more like a Happy Hour before Glenn and a out-of-town friend of his headed over to see a revival performance of "Little Shop of Horrors". The cocktail menu was clever, featuring names taken from famous shows. I enjoyed my Tequila Mockingbird, while Ginberly Akiimbo and Shucked-Up were also ordered. Service was friendly and attentive and as maybe a couple hours effortless flowed by, other delicious food (Hamachi Sashimi, Goat Cheese Souffle, Roasted Chicken Quesadilla, a Starter Special and finally the 44&X Cookie Plate) came and disappeared. It was a fun evening out. The only downside was that we walked with Glenn and his friend over to the Theater to see if we could get tickets, but unfortunately they were sold out. Maybe and annual Theater trip to New York is an idea we need to explore to remedy this bit of disappointment? At the same time, the big highlight for me that evening was Glenn turning to me saying: Are you Jewish? You have this Aura about you that way! I was thrilled, while Gayle was stunned! The background here is that I'm a convert (since 1980) and over the 18 (Chai) years I've known Gayle, I've heard "You're not really Jewish" from her way all too often. Maybe so in Orthodox eyes, but I'll gladly insight like this any time!

Yelp
My daughter and I had a pre theater dinner here on a Saturday night. Even at 5 pm, it was busy and just continued to fill as the night went on. Every table was full and as soon as one group left, another took their spot. It is beautiful designed. Simple, yet elegant. The tables are REALLY close to each other, as is common in NYC, but you almost feel like you are on a double date with the table next to you. You can chose to pretend you don't hear each others conversations, or engage with each other. We tried a little bit of both. Our waiter, I want to say Mark (I'm so sorry if I got it wrong), was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Even as busy as he was. The food was superb. Maybe our best meal in NYC this trip! The soup of the day - a version of Cream of Asparagus and celery with some shell fish was amazing! It took all my self control to not pick up the bowl and lick it clean. I had the halibut which was perfect! My daughter had the pan seared filet which was also perfect. The desserts - a flourless chocolate cake and my daughter's 4x4 was to die for. Honestly, there was nothing bad or even subpar. I will definitely be recommending 44 & X to people looking for a great meal in midtown area!

Jon R.

Yelp
The guy behind the bar, Adriano, who took our orders and served us couldn't communicate or understand us easily, and ended up serving and charging us for things we didn't order. We tried flagging the mistakes, but the communication barrier was rough and we ended up just letting it go and paying the bill. When it was time to check out, he rushed us sporadically, coming and going multiple times before finally letting us pay. This interaction in particular was pushy, blatantly rude, and embarrassingly unprofessional. Overall decent food but pathetic service.

Yelp
I hadn't been to this restaurant in quite a few years but decided to have dinner here again. The restaurant is still very cute. Food was pretty good! The bartender was very nice and made a great drink. The waiters and restaurant staff were very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely have dinner here again soon to try more of the menu.

Yelp
Came here to eat a nice dinner on my last night visiting New York. I ordered the filet mignon which came with au gratin potatoes and 2 larger sized carrots. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was pretty good. Potatoes and carrots were good as well. My server was nice and friendly. I also enjoyed sitting outside on the patio where they had my chair facing the street for people watching.

Yelp
Yum! Such a pretty and quiet atmosphere and food was delicious! Love the abundance of fresh veggies added to every dish. I had the Lobster taco and the sole - I recommend both! My friend had the scallops and pistachio tilapia - both excellent too! Ran out of time for dessert but the menu looked awesome - I def want to come back and try one.

Yelp
We spent the first half of our meal pondering what "44 & X" meant, only for one person in my family to realize that it was "44th and Tenth", as in the intersection that this place is located at. THEN we were like "why do their shirts say hell on one side and heaven on the other" and I was like IT'S BECAUSE IT'S HEAVEN IN HELL'S KITCHEN. Anyway, that's just in case you, too, were wondering. My family came here for Mother's Day brunch, and we were super lucky to be seated. The space is really beautiful and open and the natural light comes in in a way that makes you feel like you're in this huge pavilion. The food is for sure on the pricier side, but I went with the french toast which came to $18 (definitely one of the more reasonable numbers on the menu). What I liked about the toast was that it was a generous portion AND it came with ham. I'm the type of person who likes to balance the sweet with the salty, and usually that means I have to order eggs or something on the side, but in this case I didn't! I should mention though that the ham tasted stale. The toast itself was surprisingly airy but still rich. However, I like choice. I love syrup but I love choice. I think they put the syrup on for the sake of presentation, but because they put so much of it on, it was able to seep into the toast and make it entirely too sweet (and not to mention soggy) for me. Big fan of the space itself, but not sure if I'd actively recommend going to brunch here.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place on a random Saturday afternoon while stuck in crazy NYC traffic. Been going back ever since. I've had brunch, lunch, and everything in between. Always love the food here!! Service is always top notch, and I've never had to wait. To top it off, the bathroom is super cute !!!

Yelp
My husband and I came here for my birthday dinner after a day at Sandy Hook beach. We had no reservations, no plan, and this place spoke to us after we parked to find dinner at 10:30pm. We sat in the lovely and romantic outside area. We loved watching passers by who seemed going to and from performances. The staff, but in particular our waiter Andre, were so attentive, kind, and on it. My husband ordered a delectable fried chicken (we make this at home and are pretty picky!) and I had a top notch short rib dish with Gouda mashed potatoes. Yummm! Our drinks were not only fun to order with the current broadway show titles; but absolutely perfect. My martini had a roasted marshmallow on top! We ended the meal with a fun and genuinely sung happy birthday song and strawberry shortcake desert that was the perfect portion. A+ we will be back!

Yelp
Whenever I pass by this restaurant during my daily evening walks, I always see it packed and always try to put a note in my head that I must check it out. Today I did with some friends visiting from out of town and must say loved the food. Even though I made a reservation for inside, my friend insisted we sit outside in this chilly weather. Definitely a cute place, and the food was delicious. We ordered the mahi-mahi, sea-bass, scallops, Dover and the burger. Minus the burger all of our mains were great. The desserts were great too. Forgot to photograph everything but overall the experience was great and looking forward to coming back to try the other dishes.

Yelp
My breakfast was great... I ordered the silver dollar pancakes with blueberry butter and sausage. And REAL maple syrup.. it was a stack about 5 smaller sized pancakes yet I could only eat half.. very tasty, fluffy enough to perfection.. they had tiny muffins at the table, still warm. Enjoyed a cranberry one.. the staff were fantastic, they kept refilling our water glasses, love that..never had to ask.. definitely stop by if you're in NYC..

Yelp
We went on a slow rainy Sunday evening. The service, therefore, was excellent. The drinks were prepared well. I had the filet mignon. It was one of the best steaks I have had. The portion was large as well. This restaurant is warm with tall ceilings. It is a romantic place. Which makes the meal that much better. I would visit this one. It's all good.

Yelp
Met some friends here for a Sunday brunch before seeing a show. It's a nice place and very lively. I liked the decor and the layout. It wasn't too crowded when we got there but it was packed when we left and it was loud. We were seated quickly at our reservation time and took a quick look at the menu. The service was very efficient but I wouldn't say it was warm. The food came out quickly....we arrived at 12:28 and were seated at 12:30 and we had the food on our table at 12:41. Like I said... it is very quick! I had the crab cake, which was just okay. It was very bread-y. I would have been fine if it had been smaller but more crabby. Poached eggs were great. Also, they brought a basket of muffins and those were tasty. We were finished before 1:00 and got the bill and paid and were out of there shortly afterwards. Overall it was a decent experience and the food was fine but it felt a bit like being on an assembly line. If there was more of an "experience" I would rate this higher but it was a very impersonal dining situation.

Yelp
I'm so sad to see the negative reviews because I had the best time here. Everyone was so nice and the food was so yummy! Even the muffins for the table were good! French toast was crispy and fluffy and not soggy. Eggs were perfectly poached. We got a dry piece of ham but we were given a new order right away.

Yelp
Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4.5/5 Food: 4/5 My friends and they had a great time at brunch on Sunday. It was raining, so we all had to cram indoors. The table of 2 next to us was so close that they may as well been part of our party of 5. Despite that, the service was fantastic and the food around the table seemed to be well received. I ordered the herbed scrambled eggs with cheesy grits which was good/solid. I would definitely like to come back and try a different dish. But definitely had a great time with my friends and enjoyed our brunch time get together at 44x10.

Yelp
Food wasn't good the staff was nice and the atmosphere was nice. The casar salad was good but who can mess that up

Yelp
Came here on Sunday night foe some drinks and shareables. The interior is super cool, their drinks were amazing!! We tried their mezcal drink with jalapeño, tequila drink with rose and the manhattan. All were so good. We also got their goat cheese with pistachios appetizer which was great and their hamachi which wasn't that good since it was bitter.

Yelp
44&X has a great thing going with the Mediterranean chop salad, all creamy feta and firm, mildly pickly hearts of palm. And a pretty okay thing going with their very sharp-cheddared and layered mac and cheese, though it was on the cusp of too al dente for me and even gave a few crunches. But then, under the crisp curl of its tasty sea bass, lay a broth that tasted like a swimming pool. All chlorine. The broth was supposed to be mussel and saffron, which is an incredibly brave broth to attempt given that both spoiled mussels and cheap saffron can taste like chlorine. So if you're going to offer that combination, better make sure you've got a tight handle on your ingredients. Because the broth ruined everything. I could only eat the food that was above the broth line - everything else was unsalvageable. I didn't want to admit to my dining partner that her favorite restaurant had done this, so I asked for a to go box. They gave one to me but didn't seal it. So when I got home, my whole purse was coated in chlorine mussel saffron broth. Will the broth's influence never end?

Yelp
Been here for dinner and love the menu especially all their fish dishes . Every time I pass the restaurant, it's always buzzing no matter what time of the day . I've been wanting to try their brunch and finally did on Sunday . As usual , the hostess is welcoming and attentive. Because they're busy , as most restaurants, your party doesn't get seated until the party is complete . There is a bar are where one can wait. I had some salmon sort of Benedict with some potatoes . I must admit , I'm not much of a brunch person hence i can fully comment other than the fact that it tasted good . My favorite part was the "bread" they serve at the table which are mini muffins (and they' are delicious ). Our server is also friendly which made the dining experience more fun ! I'll be back for dinner ..

Yelp
We had a WONDERFUL brunch here! It was just a few blocks from our hotel and we were lucky to get an outside table right at 11A when they opened. They were busy! They serve everyone some to die for small muffins to start. They were spectacular! I had an excellent spicy virgin Bloody Mary. I had the huevos rancheros but also ordered a side of potatoes to share. It was quite a bit larger than expected and I didn't manage to finish either. Their huevos is made with scrambled eggs but the waiter mentioned this in advance so I wouldn't be unsurprised. I'm not sure how they make their scrambled eggs but they were so fluffy and silky. It came with a lovely warm tortilla wrapped around a serving of perfect guacamole. My teen co-diner went for the burger but it was HUGE! It was served on an English muffin but the burger, muffin and toppings was so large she could barely take a bite out of it. The fries were super crispy and hot. The plates coming to neighboring tables made me wish I could come back a few more times! We finished it off with a perfectly made cappuccino. The inside was beautiful. If I came again I'd try for a reservation and a table inside.

Yelp
I came here for New Year's Eve and I have been here before and here is my review. Ambience: The place is packed and airy and classy. It is centrally located on the corner and you can't miss it. The stuff is constantly on the go and working very hard. The tables were very close together because it is such a popular place so they're packing people in. Food: As a vegetarian, I was happy with my food selection. I started with a salad and it was a big salad then I had the pistachio soufflé, which was amazing. I should have had this as my entrée instead of a starter. I also had a delicious mac & cheese, and it was just too big for me .

Yelp
I've heard 44 & x Hells Kitchen was a great brunch spot but I honestly thought it was OK. Went on a Saturday and had late brunch so not that many people were there because the kitchen closes at 3pm I think? I do like decor and it is bright but I thought the food was OK and the portion as well. It wasn't something I would die for (got the salmon benedict). The service was OK as well. Took a while for the server to get our drinks.

Yelp
First time coming here! Food was good! I had the Mac and cheese, it was very good but pretty rich due to I believe truffle. Everyone in my party seemed to enjoy their food. Service was very good although I do wish they would have refilled my coffee but also realize I didn't ask. We sat outside which was lovely!

Yelp
Stopped by for brunch last Saturday and i had the Stacks of silver dollar pancakes, Blueberry butter, and Vermont maple syrup. I skipped the breakfast sausage that it normally comes with. The pancakes were so so soft and good!!!! The Blueberry butter was heavenly! I personally do not like a lot of syrup with my breakfast, so if I had known they'd drench the pancakes with the syrup, I'd ask to get it on the side. But the syrup definitely looked better on top for the picture My friends had the Maryland crab cakes, Hazelnut brioche French toast, and smoked salmon. Everyone loved the food! Would love to come back again and try their other food and drinks!

Yelp
Fun selection of drinks! They also have outdoor dining. It's a solid spot for a date and usually looks 3/4 full most nights. Worth checking out even if you don't live in the area.

Yelp
This is our go -to place in the theatre district! We have tried others from time to time, have been disappointed and with post-pandemic prices have decided that experimenting just isn't worthwhile. 44 x Hell's is so hospitable from the first moment, welcoming lights, friendly host, servers who all want you to have a good time and know you have a curtain time to make. And they still serve significant amount of decent wine. Always so many choices of fresh food, well prepared, great combinations. The owners have worked hard to create and sustain a terrific restaurant to come back to all the time !

Yelp
New York City, NY 44 & X Hell's Kitchen has to be one of my favorite restaurants that I have been to. Not only does it have such a fun and summer-y atmosphere, the food is some of the best I have had at a restaurant and the menu is also very creative. As an appetizer, we ordered the Goat Cheese and Pistachio Soufflé. When I read the word "soufflé," I was imagining puff pastry enclosing the goat cheese. But to my surprise, the soufflé was just made of warm goat cheese that was so airy, it seemed more of a thick foam. I took an endive that had balsamic glaze on it, placed some of the asian pear slices on top, and spread the goat cheese over it. Such an amazing appetizer, I could have ate the whole thing by myself. The crunch of the endive, along with the tangy pear and warm goat cheese made each bit a wonderful experience. For my main course, I ordered the Orange Dusted Main Lobster, which is not listed as a salad on the menu, but that's how the waiter described it to me. It was one of my favorite meals eaten at an American restaurant. The vegetables that the chef chose all complimented the lobster very well, not to mention the slight orange flavor I got from the lobster - how creative! The fava beans were the second most interesting part of the dish (after the orange dusted lobster), as they were so soft and melted in my mouth. I have never seen these types of beans as part of a vegetable medley before. My dad ordered the Crispy Sea Bass, which in my opinion, had a very salty and fishy taste to it. However, he really liked his choice. My mom ordered the Pistachio Crusted Tilapia, which had an interesting addition on top of it: a jumbo crab ravioli. I couldn't figure out why a single ravioli of a different seafood was added on top of the fish, but I really liked it. Now, the dessert. Absolutely amazing. We ordered the Banana Split, which is an unusual order for my family as we tend to veer towards a chocolate-based dish, but the waiter was so adamant that the Banana Split was the best so we gave in and decided to give it a shot. Best decision ever. The banana had a brûlée on top of it, giving it a sweet crunch to contrast its mushy texture. Pair that with a small bit of the toasted marshmallow and any one of the three gelatos included, and you have a bite made from heaven. I initially thought that the homemade marshmallow would make the dessert way too sweet, but it was actually perfectly made, as it simply added a nice chewy texture. To tell you how much my parents and I enjoyed this restaurant, I asked them which of the 3 entrees they liked the most. Everyone said that their own was the best - and that's exactly the kind of restaurant you want to go to, because everyone leaves the happiest they can be. We even started debating why OUR dish in particular was better than the others. I have to come back to this restaurant and try something else because not only are there so many options but I know for a fact all of it will be delicious. 20/10 recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
In a nutshell: Pretty from the outside kind of restaurant you always make a mental note to checkout at another time... only to be utterly underwhelmed when you do. GOOD Fast to be seated, although the restaurant was not busy as they never are on Monday nights, I always appreciate it even if gently nudged to seat on the bar... NOPE, I want to have a dining experience after waiting to be here for so long. The young attractive waiter uniform (and the rest of the waiters for that matter) are just slim fit shirts and jeans to feature their body... for me is evident the clientele they're looking to attract. The service was adequate, I'm going to have to start questioning my latest habit of asking waiters for their recommendations assuming they eat there and can give a frank opinion based on my dietary restrictions... this time, it didn't work out. Nonetheless, it was an adequate service, not as splendid as one would expect from a restaurant that charges 5 stars prices for "cuisine take" on rather ordinary American dishes. BAD The wine tasted worst than a waterdown drink because all the ice melted, I have tried 5 dollars a bottle TJ rosés that have actual taste than this insipid spirit. After having the wine with the food, even the meal couldn't save such bad drink. WORST I ordered the terrine as an appetizer and that was enough for me to cut dinner short and ask for the check. I did ordered the macaroon sample to go, only the lemon shortcake bites and the chocolates were good, but not good enough to compensate with the bland and soggy macarons overall not worth the price. The terrine flavors and temperature were lukewarm, in the way is served you're not a 100% sure on how to eat it, then you have a lot of what you don't like and not enough of what you do. For the pretentiousness of the menu prices, one would expect getting more out of your money if not for the overall dining experience... no good music, no ambiance, bland food served by a t-shirts & jeans wearing staff is just a big NO.

Yelp
I really love this place. The menu is huge like a Greek diner, but everything is tasty, hot, pretty to look at, and -- unlike the rest of Manhattan -- the portions are huge. I can only comment on the fish dishes -- the salmon is buttery and delicate prepared medium. The salads are crunchy. The ambience is very high end Hells Kitchen. Proudly gay and fierce. The waiters are uniformly hot and charming. Highly recommended for locals and visitors alike!!

Yelp
Adding dinner review to this! Popped by on a Wednesday for dinner with my boyfriend. Place wasn't packed which was really nice. Waiter was super attentive and the waiter was super attentive. The dinner menu was sooo good - pricey but goood! To start we got this goat cheese, pistachio soufflé was incredible! so soft and airy. The smoked salmon was delicious, just wish the sauce was a bit thicker so it would stick to the salmon bite better. The chicken my boyfriend got was also really good. Loved this place, glad i came back for dinner as well.

Yelp
Ate a delicious meal at 44 & X last night. Just came for late night cocktails and a lite bite after the show. The staff was so attentive and it was a great night to sit ouside. The strawberry salads, truffle Mac n cheese, scallops and icecream were all a hit. So many special cocktails to choose from and we all enjoyed the ones we ordered. The owner Scott even came by and sat with us, could not have been friendlier. I highly recommend.

Yelp
What a cute restaurant. Love the decor. Service was great and they wear shirts that say "Heaven"; when asked, they'll tell you that you've found 'Heaven in Hell's Kitchen!' I think they're right! Ordered the short ribs, which were to die for. Two pieces served on some mashed potatoes. Didn't even need a knife to separate the meat, it was that tender.could have used some veggies, but still the best short ribs that I've ever had! Ordered the gelato plate primarily for the espresso gelato, which was delicious. Served with a couple pieces of meringue, which was a nice touch.
