The 10 Best Soup Dumplings In NYC

"456 Shanghai is another irreplaceable and long-standing Shanghainese restaurant in Manhattan’s Chinatown. It’s been around since 1963, serving rotund buns filled with pork as well as other dim sum staples and daily lunch specials. Their plump, thicker-skinned xiao long bao are some of the least expensive on the guide—you get eight pork soup dumplings for $5.50. That detail alone makes 456 Shanghai useful to know about anytime you want a satisfying meal for about two subway fares." - hannah albertine, nikko duren, carlo mantuano, molly fitzpatrick

The Best Soup Dumplings in NYC | Eater NY

"456 Shanghai Cuisine is probably the best soup dumpling bargain in town. Founded in 1963, it claims to be our oldest Shanghai restaurant. The dumplings are bulbous and perfectly formed, with a skin a bit thicker than usual, and a gravy slightly on the sweet side. At eight for $5.50, they’re the cheapest at this level of homemade quality." - Robert Sietsema

Where To Eat Outside In Chinatown

"456 is serving their Shanghainese food (including some very plump xiao long bao) at two outdoor tables in front of their spot on Mott Street. In case the tables are taken, you could always get your food to go and walk a block and a half to Columbus Park." - hannah albertine

Went here with a couple of friends and it was delicious. Amazing late night dinner find. Pan fried noodles were delicious although a lot of oil pooled at the bottom. Still give it a try though! Soup dumplings are always a classic here - hot, flavorful and super tasty! Stop here to get some great authentic eats!

Google
The food was absolutely delicious! We had chicken lo mein, soup dumplings, and sweet and sour chicken (with sauce on the side - our preference.) They have plenty of seating, good service, and the food came out in good timing and was very fresh and hot. We also received hot tea when we were seated. 10/10 recommend!

Google
I go with my husband ones a month to this restaurant. We tried a lot restaurants in Chinatown and this is the best for quality, tasting and price. Our best dishes are number 1, 15 and 143. The dishes are very big do keep in mind that when are you going to order.

Google
This is by far the best General Tso’s in NYC that I have ever had. Chicken is crispy and the perfect amount of sauce on it. Waiters were very professional and polite. Restaurant is very clean and AC works great. Highly recommend

Google
I came here twice when visiting NYC. Great food, fast service. The only thing that left sour taste in mouth - added obligatory “service charge” second time. We were family 2 adults 3 kids. First time they didnt charge extra and I happily left about 20% tip. Second time - they suddenly added 18% service charge. Not that I wouldnt leave a tip… but I would appreciate for parties of 5 it would be my choice. Never had experience like that with parties of 5.

Google
I come to this restaurant for the 3rd time. I like how they cook and cook dishes quickly. The waiters are friendly and overall the atmosphere is pleasant. The downsides are the dirty floors, the stairs have never been washed. And it's a bit strange that the toilet is next to the kitchen. You stand waiting for your turn, I'm the toilet, and two steps away they make you dumplings

Google
The food was ok we tried here 1. Vegetarian Dimsum 2. Dai-Lu Noodle In Soup 3. Earl gray shrimp 4. Earl gray chicken If you are a Chinese food lover you should try here.

Google
It was rushed as they were closing at 10pm food was OK not the best I've had. The starters came out after the main meal which was weird. They kept getting another table order wrong probably through rushing as it was near closing time. Not a great experience to be honest.

Yelp
3.5 stars seems about right to me. The pork soup dumplings were AMAZING - rich and filling of umami. The crispy shredded beef (also recommended by the New York Times) was fine but not very interesting. I'd probably have it as a comfort food if I lived in the neighborhood. Service was quick and efficient, and they seemed able to accommodate everyone on a Monday evening. Overall, I would absolutely come back for the dumplings - which, honestly, are a meal for one by themselves!!!

Yelp
Read a review that this Chinatown spot had some awesome soup dumplings, so decided to stop by. We visited on a Saturday evening (around 6:30pm) and while we were able to get seated immediately, I saw that it filled up within 30 minutes! Good to get there on the earlier side. We weren't that hungry so just ordered the Crab/pork soup dumplings and also the Shrimp with Salt and Pepper. Rice is an additional $1.75. The soup dumplings were very good- it was a lot meatier than I had expected, and the broth tasted nice and clean (sometimes it's a little too fatty). The crab meat is deep inside the pork so unfortunately didn't get much of a crab flavor, so next time I would just stick with the classic pork soup dumpling. The server had asked if we wanted the shrimp with or without the shell, which I thought was a nice touch- we got it without the shell. While simple, the dish was so flavorful with a spicy kick (sliced chilies mixed in with the shrimp.) The shrimp were huge and very meaty too. They will add a service charge if you pay with credit card, just fyi. A solid 3.5 stars

Yelp
Get the dumplings! And nothing else! One of the best things about traveling is being able to try food from all over the world, all over the world. The last time I had any sort of dumpling this good was when I was in Vancouver, and that is setting the bar high. It also helps that you get eight with an order, EIGHT! The price is also incredibly fair as well as they are around $7-$8, which is about $1 a dumpling. That is a great deal. The staff is also very friendly and will show you how to eat these, which you never see these days. Most just leave you up to your own devices, but here they want to see to it that the food you enjoyed, that they prepared, is eaten properly and thoughtfully. That is how you treat a customer. In addition, they offer lunch specials that are likely worth checking out. There is nothing wrong with some chicken, beef, white rice, and lo mein noodles as a meal if you want to go that route. So are the dumplings! Enjoy!

Yelp
If you're going to Chinatown, you need to visit 456 new Shanghai. The lunch special is a steal. For around $9 you get tea, soup, rice, and tour choice of dish. We also order the soup dumplings - really juicy and delish. Don't pass this place up.

Yelp
The highlight of my visit was the soup dumplings, which were delicate, flavorful, and filled with a delicious broth that burst with each bite. The menu offers a variety of traditional Shanghai dishes, each prepared with care and attention to detail. I also enjoyed the scallion pancakes, crispy and savory, served with a delightful dipping sauce.

Yelp
Tight spot to eat inside . Food are tasty which is good . Staff Service is alright .

Yelp
We came in around 7:30 on a Friday night. The place was pretty busy but they sat us immediately. Very nice and quick service. They bring tea for the table. So hard to just choose a few menu items! Amazing xiao long bao and peanut wonton. Reasonable prices and good atmosphere inside. Will definitely be back very soon!!

Yelp
FYI: I'm a huge fan of Shanghainese food This place is like a second home to me and has a spot on my "JBW Top Hits" list. The waiters all greet me with a friendly "Welcome back!" and I don't even open a menu since I know exactly what I'm getting: the pork soup dumplings, sauteed string beans (gan bian si ji dou), and vegetable dumplings (eat these as soon as they arrive, since the skins will get crusty the longer you wait). To be honest, these three dishes have been my tried-and-true go-tos for so long; I've ventured a bit into the world of sauteed dishes and such, but I keep coming back for these.

Yelp
Very authentic experience. A lot of people hate on the size of the restaurant, but this is New York people! It adds on to the authenticity, get over yourselves. Immediately sat and served tea while you wait. The food was f*cking amazing! Great portions for your buck! I recommend the #130 chow fun (if you're a meat lover like myself) It came with shrimp, chicken & beef. The soup dumplings are also a great dish. My Bf got the sesame chicken like if this was Panda Express but they were also delicious and a great portion size. All in all it was a 9 out of 10 experience.

Yelp
the food was almost inedible. Basic fried rice was terrible. string beans veggie dish soaked with oil... terrible terrible, terrible... never again. dumplings were so doughy... terrible food....

Yelp
Great food for a great price! Highly recommend the eggplant with garlic sauce as well as their Xiao long bao - very juice and for 8 decent sized pieces as well. One of my favorites in Chinatown and takes credit card too.

Yelp
We walked by here and decided to give it a try. Overall we had a great experience and thought the food was tasty. Hot and spicy wontons - 2 stars Lo mein beef- 3.5 stars Pan fried noodles pork- 4 stars

Yelp
I haven't had the chance to try their crab and pork soup dumplings, but their pork ones are outstanding. It's less than $10 for 8 of them, and they are the best soup dumplings I've ever eaten. I can't recommend them enough! Service is a bit slow, but they do a good job overall. I love the tea they serve with the meals too! They bring a teapot when they seat you. The ambiance is casual, and the space is small. You might be seated closely next to another table, but if you get there on the earlier side, you'll have more space.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place for a family meal. I've been here a few times and always ordered their pan fried dumplings. The vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff only add to the overall excellent dining experience.

Yelp
if you're going to be in chinatown, and you're craving chinese food this would be one of my recommendations! with its commitment to traditional flavors, high-quality ingredients, and excellent service, this restaurant is a must-visit :)
google avatar

Yelp
Ambiance was very casual and normal. Standard stuff. Food was also very average. Nothing special about the food and not particularly cheap as you'd expect in Chinatown. Food was decent.

Yelp
Great restaurant with authentic dishes from Shanghai and surrounding areas! Got couple classic Shanghainese dishes this time: Shanghai Kao Fu (Tofu): Love the spongy chewy springy texture of the Kao Fu (it's actually gluten, not tofu), very flavorful. Also enjoyed the various textures with the addition of Shiitake mushrooms and peanuts Noddle with Preserved Vegetables with Pork: Very flavorful broth, the preserved vegetables are just the right amount of savoryness and pickle*y texture (I don't like some of the other preserved vegetables elsewhere that are either too salty or too aged/mushy in texture). The noodles are thick with great chew to them. Sweet Eight Jewel Rice: how I miss this iconic traditional shanghainese dessert and it's a true rare find! So glad they have it here! It's sticky rice pudding with red bean paste filling in the center, dotted with various dried fruits (dates, raisin, cherry, etc.) pressed in on top and then doused with generous amount of syrup with osmanthus in. What a delight! The rice grains were cooked to just the right consistency/texture: sticky chewy while still retaining the individual grain firmness. All the ingredients just come together so well - so many going on at the same time and yet harmoniously! Would definitely come back to try their other dishes on the menu!

Yelp
A nice Chinatown option service authentic Chinese food and American Chinese food options. Their pan fried tiny buns with pork are better than Shanghai21's - bigger and topped with lots of scallions. Only thing that could make them better is more soup. Their soup dumplings are good and filled with soup although they're smaller and skin is a bit thicker than Shanghai21's. We also ordered the wontons in spicy flavor (w/ peanut butter) which were delicious and the Spicy Shredded Beef which was also good but a bit oily. Scallion pancakes here are crispy but could use more scallions and flavor.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this establishment on a rainy NYC evening and needed some comfort food to warm us up! With so many choices nearby, this establishment had the most other diners, so we thought we'd check it out. Unassuming dining room with plenty of seating! Nothing Instagran worthy about this location, but we'll let the food speak for itself! Service was very helpful and on top of things throughout our stay! We got the Fried Pork Dumplings and Hot and Sour soup. Both were delish! A perfect warming snack for the dreary adventure-filled day. I'd definitely come back for more of their options!

Yelp
Was craving for soup dumplings and xame here on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm. It was pretty packed but at least there was no wait time compared to other Shanghai restaurants in Chinatown. Ordered the beef pancakes, soup dumplings and one of the egg dropped soup. Soup dumplings was juicy but skin was a bit too thick. Love the beef pancake and soup! Waiters were very friendly as well

Yelp
Stopped by with a few friends while on a yelp guided dumpling tour throughout China Town (and some LES). Was probably our favorite spot of all! We ordered a variety of dishes, all tasting fresh and hot, with our favorites being the shrimp dumplings and the crab & pork soup dumplings (some of the best I've ever had). Also their homemade hot pepper sauce was bomb, and definitely complimented all of our dishes nicely. Staff was attentive and friendly! Will definitely be back and potentially try some of their other mouthwatering looking options.
google avatar

Chin T.

Yelp
We ordered the food to go, the servers were friendly. We had the steamed pork soup dumplings however, it doesn't taste as good, maybe it would be better if we dine in. We also ordered the chicken rice cakes and the fried tiny buns with pork. Maybe next time, we can dine in for the experience.

Yelp
Amazing food. Great service. Service was quick and friendly. While the space is slightly cramped, it doesn't matter , bc you're at 456. Soup dumplings are a must. Salt and Pepper Shrimp were fabulous. Little Italy is next door for dessert. You won't be disappointed unless you're looking for a high end dining experience. If that's the case, 456 is not for you. It's perfect as is. Enjoy.
google avatar

Melissa N.

Yelp
I came here specifically for the soup dumplings! The steamed pork dumplings were excellent. It was around $7 for eight dumplings. Great prices! I ate only the dumplings and drank the complimentary green tea. And that was enough for me because it was filling. BTW, check out their lunch specials. Overall, 4 stars.

Yelp
Visited this past week in Chinatown. We were walking around in 85+ degree weather looking for a place that was not cash only and stumbled upon this gem. The lunch special menu with specials for under $8 is what sold us. We ordered the crab meat and pork bun soup dumplings and omg, these were amazing. I ordered the shredded pork with dry tofu after being torn between two items (the waiter recommended this over the other). The tofu in this was amazing, it tasted like chicken. I wish I could make tofu taste this way at home...I think I'd eat more vegetarian if so. The pork was excellent as well, super flavorful. My boyfriend ordered the spicy double sauteed pork and this was so tender. The mushrooms in it were amazing and it had what I think were water chestnuts. I honestly don't know which dish I liked more. The lunch specials also came with hot and sour soup which was flavorful and better than any Chinese takeout I've had. Service was quick and the food came out even quicker. I also liked that they give you an entire pot of green tea. I'm already waiting until my next visit to NYC so I can come back for this spot!
google avatar

Jenny H.

Yelp
An old colleague and I came here for lunch. They have lunch specials and I have been here in the past. Decided to visit to see if quality are the same. We ordered scallion pancake, spicy pepper tofu beef and sesame chicken. Food came quickly and it was tasty and the portion is very fair. The leftover was enough for dinner. Pricing for lunch were about $9 each. Reasonable. I would continue to come here for a good lunch. This is a good everyday spot and will stay that way.
google avatar

Emi B.

Yelp
Sadly I used to love this place. They have the best spicy sauce!! - still the best, very good. Very good Shanghai Pan Fried Bun - still good besides that it used to be 8 for $5.95 pre-pandemic and now is 6 for $8ish I think. Spicy Minced Meat Noodle - ingredient is fine but the texture was over mixture with corn starch to fill the plate. Just don't love the texture. Sliced warm cucumber was odd. Meat and bean curd were good. Cold Platter: Jellyfish wasn't crunchy and too sweet. Spicy Cabbage was more like a Sweet marinated Napa Cabbage, just wrong. Hot and Sour Soup was a total failure like a bowl of thick sweet corn starch soup. I miss my 456.
google avatar

Davina G.

Yelp
The food was so amazing, other tables approached us to see what we ordered. My brother got the pork fried rice, cashew chicken and soup dumplings (pork/crab). I got the eggplant with garlic sauce and the Shanghai wonton soup with a few spring rolls. The eggplant was incredible, wonton soup broth was rich and flavorful and wontons were soft and tasty. I'd pass on the spring rolls which were full of raw cabbage and carrots, nothing great. Service was on point, friendly and clean restaurant. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
When you go to 4, 5, 6, order the 1, 2, 3. It's a gooood amount of food for two people. And it's all delicious. But everything's good. A friend of mine straight up got sesame chicken and rice, and even that was top-tier. This is good Chinatown eats.

Kristen A.

Yelp
Stumbled across this spot in Chinatown, had such delicious xiao long bao (soup dumplings)! The lunch special portions are very big, I could barely finish the sesame chicken with 1 other person. There's plenty of seating inside, and service is very quick.
google avatar

Sophie Z.

Yelp
Decided to give this place a try after our go to restaurant had a 2 hr wait. I've seen articles on 456 being top rated but thought it was a tourist trap. Still we decided to give it a try and see for ourselves whether the hype was real. Fortunately, we had a good experience. Service is fast here, servers expect you to order quick, eat and get it moving. We went with the soup dumplings, scallion pancake with beef, and shanghai fried noodle. The soup dumplings were a bit too doughy for my liking but the soup and filling was great. Scallion pancake with beef was also a bit too saucy which ended up making the pancake soggy. But overall the flavors were pretty spot on!
google avatar

Nicole J.

Yelp
So disappointing. The pan-fried noodles taste like the noodle chips that are used as a topping on salads, but stale and tasteless. It was served plain with a tub of brown sauce and vegetables on the side. The dumplings were also very bland and stale in nature, served with a very watery sauce on the side. Stopped here randomly because the restaurant was packed and had vegetarian options, but wouldn't return. Very subpar.
google avatar

Sean L.

Yelp
Roundup to 4 stars! Shrimp is good & better than other places! Dumpling, Salted Pork/Bamboo soup are above average but subpar than Joe's !
google avatar

Toni P.

Yelp
Went here for a quick meal when we visited the Chinatown, New York. Service is up to par and delicious food. Place is new and clean.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
Five stars to keep the place going and show my support. I only came here for soup dumplings but the soup dumplings were great. They had good flavor and were filled with the right amount of meat for the dumpling, although the dumpling itself wasn't too big. The dough of the dumpling was thin, as I prefer it to be. I do wish there was a little more soup in each dumpling. I also ordered the Singapore mei fun to go and it was good, even the next day. Great option for soup dumplings, wasn't any wait when I came on a Sunday evening.
google avatar

Elaine T.

Yelp
TIP: Although they do accept credit card, bring cash for a small discount. Pretty decent and fairly priced dim sum. I came as part of a party of 3 around noon Sunday and we were able to be seated right away. Service was prompt throughout, and our food came quickly. In order of preference we had the pan fried pork baos, pan fried pork dumplings, pork xiao long bao, and shrimp lo mein. The pork baos were my favorite by a long shot--they reminded of the Q-baos at Dough Zone. Although the flavor was good, the XLB wrappers were a little too thick. The lo mein was maybe the only item I wouldn't want to get again as it was so oily. Our total came out to $38 post-tip, which is affordable especially since we had enough leftovers to feed two of us for dinner. I recommend this place for a quick and cheap dim sum experience!

Yelp
Two words. Soup. Dumplings. They were the best thing I had tasted in a pretty long time. Seriously. I've only had soup dumplings once or twice before, so I'm not sure really how to explain why I like them so much, but I'll try. First of all, that sauce. It comes with this black vinegar ginger sauce that is just so good. How do I know it's black vinegar? It was so good I had to ask the guy working there. I mean, I don't know if I've ever had black vinegar before so maybe there's isn't _particularly_ good, but whatever. I loved it. And that sauce just went so well with the pork flavor from the dumplings. Biting into it and getting that rush of pork broth mixed with the black vinegar sauce is really an awesome explosion of flavor. And, as the guy explained to me, you really have to eat it hot. There's something about it when it is slightly uncomfortably hot that just enhances the flavor. How do I know this? Well, it was so good that before heading back up to Penn Station, I had to stop by again and get a second order of soup dumplings. Yeah. It was that good. But we couldn't find a good place to sit down to eat them (we got it to go), and it wasn't quite hot enough, so the second time eating them it wasn't quite as good. Lesson: eat em' hot. I also really loved the pasta. You could tell it was fresh. And it felt like the right thickness.

Yelp
Amazing!!!! We came from Florida and just had to stop. An easy subway ride from the city and well worth the stop!
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
The pork soup dumplings were decent. The skin was thin, and the soup was slightly sweet - authentic Shanghainese style. The pan fried dumplings were awful. Real pan fried dumplings have crispy bottoms, and similar to soup dumplings, have some soup inside. The skin-to-meat ratio was like 10:1. These dumplings had so little meat inside that I was halfway through it before I got one bite of meat. The skin was also super thick, and I feel like I was just eating bread. You can't even consider that 生煎包. If you ever come here, just order the soup dumplings.
google avatar

Midori G.

Yelp
This is the best place I have been in Chinatown! The service and atmosphere is nothing fancy, but the food was amazing! What we ordered: we started off with the scallion pancakes (a must try). Then we got the cold noodles in sesame sauce. This was my favorite dish. For a main we split the shrimp dumplings and vegetable lo mein. Both were good, but I like the lo mein more than the dumplings. All 3 of us are here and were so full for the price of $50 (not including tip). A steal!
google avatar

Sandy D.

Yelp
I remember liking the rice cakes here as a middle schooler so blame my nostalgia for wanting to check this place out again for dinner! The place was packed on a weekend night. The store was not the biggest, and the noise further amplified that, as the ambiance was booming! I felt like I was in a dim sum restaurant. We ordered the Pan Fried Noodles, Shanghai Rice Cake, Soup Dumplings, and a Wined Chicken. The Soup Dumplings were safe and great! Skin is not the thinnest but it wasn't that thick either. They give more meat filling than other places, but at the sacrifice of their soup! I would rather have more soup please! The Shanghai Rice Cakes, while no longer served in this bowl I remember them in, still had the same delicious taste! Shanghainese restaurants here have a hard time getting them right, so I particularly like the ones here! They're kind of tough, but the right amount where it is still chewable and has a bounce to it. I also love that they gave a mix of chicken, pork, and shrimp pieces! The Pan Fried Noodles, were really bomb, both presentation and taste wise. In addition to the meat, they gave plenty of vegetables including baby corn, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots (are they suppose to be sour though?). The noodles were perfect: crispy despite being dunk in starchy soy sauce. Highly recommend this dish, although it is saltier than I would prefer. The Wined Chicken is a skip. Salty. If you hit the bathrooms, you can see a little BTS of the soup dumpling making in action! And a look at their pantry, how transparent! With amazingly fast and friendly service, I don't see why this wouldn't be a solid option for your Shanghainese cravings!

Yelp
December 2021 - COVID Review: So I made a rookie mistake and forgot to bring tons of cash with me while visiting Chinatown - but to be fair, I don't like to travel with a lot of cash for safety reasons haha. Since this was one of the only restaurants that had soup dumplings on the menu and accepted credit card (with a processing fee) that we found on Yelp and called, we decided to go here. Yes, the soup dumplings may not be Din Tai Fung / Michelin star quality, but they were still pretty good! You get 8 per order for a little over $8! They have other typical Chinese dishes as well and those portions looked pretty generous from what I saw from other tables.
google avatar

Lily S.

Yelp
Best flavored XLB I've had on this side of the world. Yes the skin can be thinner but who cares when the soup tastes this good? 8 bucks for 8 good sized crab and pork soup dumplings, are you kidding me? I'm so in love! I'm slapping myself for not getting the plain pork ones and instead, got the sweet and sour squirrel fish. Not that the fish was not impressive, it was. But I should've stuffed my face with more XLB What's even more impressive? The pan fried pork buns! Oh my lord, how do those also contain so much delicious soup? 6 big buns for less than $8. We ate them all and that even impressed the waiter. We paid the price of feeling painfully full that night but had happy dreams of bao, bun, and more bao and bun! What's interesting is all other diners we saw were not Chinese. If the Chinese have a better place they go to, I don't need to know. I have 456 New Shanghai to go to!

Giancarlo P.

Yelp
Amazing food. Horrible horrible service. I had the fish in wine sauce and eggplant. The food is especially good. The restaurant is clean and wait nominal. Wow- the service is awful. Rude to the 10x. Shouting across at customers as if they pay us to eat there. Work on your business model is the only kind advice I can leave.
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
If you want really good soup dumplings and more per order than any other restaurant in town at a great price run don't walk. The sesame noodles are nothing to write home about but we have had other dishes there and they were decent. One of these days we are going to try the orange beef, it looks great. The atmosphere is pleasant, the servers are wanting to please. All and all, it's a good spot to go and enjoy the dumplings.
google avatar

Jason U.

Yelp
You can find "cheaper" soup dumplings here compared to other places in NYC. They were pretty good for the price. I also tried their seafood stir-fried noodles which were okay and had better at dim sum places. The service was pretty good. I would come here again for the different options on the menu especially if you are in the area and soup dumplings.

Yelp
You have to enter here without every experiencing Din Tai Fung quality dishes to appreciate it. Unfortunately, that is what I did 9:00 PM at night when everything else was closed for the evening. They graciously ushered us in to a corner seat in the back where the aroma of scallions and dumplings filled the atmosphere. I ordered the pork soup dumplings, crab soup dumplings, fried pork dumplings and beef and egg scallion pancake. 1. The soup dumplings were quite tasty and surprisingly not salty. What ultimately ruined it for me was how incredibly thick the skin was. It was almost impossible to break the skin accidentally, which is an experience on it's own for some people. 2. The fried pork dumplings was probably the best item for the evening, but it had arrived at our table when we finished most of our food unfortunately. It would have definitely had me salivating had it arrived earlier. 3. The beef and egg scallion pancake was pretty standard. My only issue was how little sauce was provided within the pancake and it definitely made the pancake dryer than it should have been. Overall, this was an okay meal for the price. I was fortunate to have been able to eat here late at night and the service was quality, as expected.

Yelp
Great and affordable food. I give this place a 4 stars on food and price. I would recommend to bring cash, since they do charge you an extra 4% if you pay with a card. Service was very quick but you may have to share a table with other people. Plates are very big, so you can definitely share it with more people. We order the pork gyozas, spicy orange chicken, beef with green scallions, and fried rice for 3 people and we had some leftovers. Very clean as well and they give you free hot tea.

Yelp
A number of my favorite restaurants in Chinatown no longer exist, but thank goodness this one is still here. I remember years ago I was wandering around Chinatown trying to find anywhere that sold cold sesame noodles, and finding it oddly difficult to locate anywhere that had them on the menu. This place had them, and they were delicious. Flash forward to now, and I was looking for a place to have a late lunch with a friend that I was showing around Chinatown. We decided to go to this place, and it was a great decision. We had soup dumplings, shrimp dumplings, scallion pancakes, and cold sesame noodles. All of them were delicious. I lived in China for a year recently, so my standards for Chinese food are quite high. This place does not disappoint. The service was quick and friendly as well. I will certainly be back next time I am in NYC.

Yelp
I'd actually give it a 3.5. Ordered take out; food was ready pretty quick. It was hit and miss. The Zhajiangmian was def a miss. No flavor, pretty disappointed. It was the dish I looked most forward to eating.
