A downtown gastropub where the food matters as much as the taps. InForum praised the kitchen’s ambition—from Swedish meatballs to Brussels sprouts—making it a smart pick for groups wanting craft beer with chef attention.

My wife and I visited on a Friday evening for dinner, and we were sat immediately. Our server was attentive in bringing refills, and our orders didn't take long to be delivered. Both of us enjoyed our meals, and both were reasonably priced as well. This is definitely a place we would come again.

Google
I want to give 5 stars but as someone else said food is good but not amazing. A friend recommended I try to chicken and rice(risotto). It was ok but please take the breading off the risotto. It was so much more flavorful when I picked off the thick layer of flavorless breading. Some pieces of the chicken were a little tough too. Drinks and service were good.

My wife and I have eaten here a couple of times. We think the food is good, but not amazing. We love the atmosphere and service.

Aaron Jost

Google
Really enjoyed bison burger and fish and chips for lunch. Service was friendly, non assuming and conscientious of table conversation. Clean, fresh, new decor. More towards modern style than cozy. Prices as expected for local, grill style restaurant.

Stopped in for a drink and appetizer while in Fargo. Had the Gouda Stuffed Pickles. Different and delicious! Great place and great service.

Google
Outdoor dining was very nice. Visited on a Friday night, not busy. Food was very good. Brussel Sprouts, Gouda stuffed fried pickles 😋! Swedish Meatballs were excellent. Cajun Seafood Pasta dish was so good. 1919 Rootbeer was a hit with the kids!

Food is OK. Service is INSANELY slow, and it wasn't even that busy. We were seated and after 20mins our server never came but then people seated after us got service. The bar manager ended up coming outside to tend to us. We ordered our food and drink and asked for our bill right away. The food was disappointing and the sautéed veggies are lightly sautéed and smothered in some salty gravy. The fried cauliflower with honey mustard is pretty good, we all liked that the cauliflower wasn't mushy. The risotto was very very bland and was missing something - idk, put dried cranberries in it or something if it's meant to be vegetarian, and a lot more than 1 asparagus sliced into fours. Drinks were really tasty though, absolutely recommend checking out their cocktail and mocktails. Not sure I'll eat there again, but the outdoor seating is comfortable so maybe we'll go for a drink or two.

For the price the food was very mid, and the service was just okay. Definitely won't be returning.

Yelp
Best thing I've eaten in a LONG time. If you're looking for a hearty meal, with tons of flavor, this chicken & rice is what you need in your life. Sounds like a boring meal; chicken & rice. But let me tell you, this was heaven in every bite. The risotto cake was the base to this dish, perfectly crispy with dreamy risotto inside. The panko breaded chicken breast was perfectly cooked, juicy chicken with a thin crust. The tomato jam brought this unique sweetness and the creamy sauce brought it all together. I can't wait to go back to Fargo and stop back for this meal. Oh, also, my server/bartender was the sweetest. She made a perfect dirty martini for me. The vibe seems fun for a happy hour, family dinner or work get together. I love that you can see into the kitchen too. There was someone constantly cleaning, the walls, expo line etc.

Yelp
Great food and service. They had a great menu to choose from with soups, salads, apps, sandwiches and entrees. We visited for a late dinner. We got seated right away and our waitress took our drink orders. They had lots of drink options even many nonalcoholic. We ordered the potato and bacon soup, wedge salad, turkey jalapeño sandwich, and grilled cheese. Everything was delicious and had a fancy twist with extra sauces and lots of detail to the dishes. Sweet potato fries were amazing, very crispy. There were several dessert choices. My friend also had the cheesecake. It looked and tasted delicious.

Michael C.

Yelp
The ambiance was nice. However, the portion for the price was not worth it. It also took 20 minutes to get a cup of soup and an additional 45 minutes to get a pasta dish. It's ok.

Steven C.

Yelp
First, the rotating cocktails. Excellent.it was a quiet Saturday night, so sitting at fence outside was perfect. All four of us ordered differently and loved our choices. If I wasn't from across the country, I would have been there several more times with the things I DIDN'T order!

Yelp
Best local food in Fargo, hands down! The food was absolutely D E L I C I O U S, the restaurant felt moody yet classy and inviting, and our server was kind and attentive. 10/10 would come here again!

Yelp
I walked in for a quick bite during my lunch break with my group, but we got called back before food came out. We swapped our food to go easily, but turns out the owner took care of our bill. There was 5 of us, and that sort of kindness was heartwarming. The food was ASTONISHING. I had the pulled pork which was very juicy and tasteful with flavor. And I had a taste of the bison burger which was phenomenal. We were suggested to order it medium rare since it's a leaner meat, which was such a good choice. The staff was very accommodating and kind. Next time I'm in Fargo, I'll be bookmarking this place again.

Yelp
I give 46 North a 4.5 out of 5. I was really impressed with the menu, plenty of phenomenal options. Try and get a seat outside if you can, it's a perfect view of downtown Fargo The food was exceptional. I ordered the turkey sandwich, a perfect balance of flavors with the hot soup. The side salad was a small but a perfect portion. I couldn't finish my whole meal but felt it was delicious.

Laurel K.

Yelp
So, the steak salad (at $23?) is mixed for me. I love the spring salad mix with pickled red onion and pickled sweet peppers and the dressings are so good. However, the cut of meat is so poor, especially for the price. Utterly tough and difficult to chew. Not worth the price.

Yelp
This was the perfect place to get a delicious Lunch break from a stressful day week of wrestling competition. Service waswonderful& food was perfect. Janna got her wine

Yelp
We just happened to stop here for lunch when we were downtown on Saturday. The service and food selection was excellent. We were informed by our serve that all dishes are freshly prepared by their chef. Was without a doubt one of the best dining experience my wife and I have had. Can't wait to have the opportunity to visit there again.

Yelp
Came in here while visiting from California. I ordered the salmon and my fiance ordered the lamb and both were PERFECTION. I am extremely picky on quality of food, flavor and how well it's cooked and both of our meals were delicious. They had a wide variety of alcohol and wine choices and our waitress was literally the best waitress we have had, anywhere, EVER. Shae knew the menu, the drinks, was honest about her opinions and her recommendations for food and drink were on point! She carried conversation well and made sure we were taken care of without being overly attentive. We will definitely be back next time we are in town! Most everyone was dressed kinda nice and we showed up in sweaters and beanies and it was no issue.

Yelp
46 N, is better than a huge list of fine dining places we frequent. I had the Swedish meatballs and my husband had the ribeye. The kids had the homemade chicken strips and Mac and cheese. The the homemade chips and dip aloe is heaven on earth. The kale and sausage soup is so good, and the drinks menu is quite nice. Thanks for creating such an amazing menu! We love it!

Sarah P.

Yelp
Service was very good. Food was ok. We had the mushroom appetizer and it was a bit of a letdown. The bread was burnt and the mushrooms seemed undercooked. The overall experience just missed the mark. Dinner was seafood scampi, spicy chicken sandwich and mushroom burger. The sandwiches were pretty good but the scampi was completely under seasoned. Ambiance is good but if you're looking for a great meal, you've got a 50/50 shot.

Yelp
Finally made it to 46 North - and glad I did! I will be back! My friend and I were seated immediately to a booth of our choosing - a great start to a great experience. I was delighted at the crafty cocktail menu - I love a unique drink and 46 North has great options. I went with their version of the whisky sour - I forgot the name but it was fabulous. Our drinks arrived promptly- another good impression- who wants to wait for drinks? Not me!! Our waiter was full of info on drinks and menu. Love that. We ended up with fried pickles (yummy...) sweet potato knoephla, (good but not amazing) sliders (yum) and dessert- an amazing flourless chocolate cake with ice cream (highly recommended by waiter - we LOVED it). Overall, A great experience and great atmosphere as well. Furthermore, Service was excellent!!!

Yelp
Had the opportunity to try this restaurant and was immediately offended by the manager of the place. Very aggressive and was trying to verbally antagonize a man and a woman. From watching, it appeared he was trying owner to impress a particular female employee with his bravado. The owner should be watching closely as this man almost caused a physical altercation by telling a patron ( who had paid and tipped ) to "f" off. If you try this restaurant be prepared to put up with some verbal abuse or to defend your date. Every town needs a rough and rowdy place to hang out and this appears to be one ( by management design)

Nancy N.

Yelp
We've always had a good meal & drinks here! They have yet to disappoint Don't hesitate stopping for lunch or dinner. Nice atmosphere also

Yelp
I haven't found a place in town with 90 Shillings on tap so that really brought my rating up. What's bringing it down you may wonder? The menu looks fantastic, everything sounds delicious and I had a hard time deciding. I wanted to stick with a classic, spicy chicken sandwich with fries as that seems like an easy staple. The sandwich lacked flavor and especially lacked any spice. The fries were quite bland as well and trust me, I've never met a fry I don't like.. I feel like the execution of the food could've been so much better, but I am willing to give it another try for sure since the menu is so enticing.

Yelp
Excellent service. Delicious food (Brussels are to die..). Great wine list (King Estate? Thank you, yes.) Relaxed atmosphere. Will be back next time I'm in Fargo.

Yelp
I liked everything about my recent visit and plan to go there again tomorrow night. Our group liked the layout (ample seating), ambience and vibe of the place. Top-to-bottom, the menu looked great. On this visit, we only had appetizers - chips piled with pulled pork; fried Brussels sprouts; Gouda-stuffed pickles. All good. On top of this, I also had an Old Fashioned which tasted great - spendy at $10, but actually worth it. I've heard good comments about their salmon and burgers. For tomorrow's visit, I don't know how I will choose between fish & chips, hot chicken & biscuits, or shepard's pie. Also, with this being located in the Roberts Commons building complex, the indoor parking garage (free after 5pm & weekends) is very nice and convenient. And Tuesdays is 1/2 price wine bottle night.

Yelp
Didn't eat food but had wonderful service from Owen -- knowledgeable, friendly and a great bartender!

Yelp
This is our weekly hang out, food is great, drinks are great and staff is very friendly, I recommend this place every chance I get!

Yelp
Snuck in on a Wine Wednesday! Great prices on apps and wine! The place was hoppin', but didn't feel loud or crowded. I could have tried everything on the menu; it all sounded wonderful. We got the chicken sandwich, brussel sprouts, truffle fries, a delicious salad, and a gelato. Great selection of wine- a variety of beers as well! Definitely a downtown date night atmosphere. Our server was perfect.

Yelp
The chicken and biskets is a must order item. I was ready to go back and have it again the next day.

Yelp
I've not stopped dreaming about the day I can go back and order another of their goat cheese and mushroom appetizer! Friendly service, good menu selection, and delicious food means I'll be going back!

Yelp
Food tasted Great, the atmosphere was real cool. Potato chips cheese dip is something you definitely have to try Great for groups. Service seemed a little bit slow there was not lot of people in the restaurant but they took their time making our food.

Yelp
This is a great casual spot to watch the game or have a group dinner. They have a decent tap collection featuring local beers, as well as a wide selection of liquors. The service has always been incredibly prompt, and their staff is well trained and polite. As I work downtown, I frequent their lunch special as it comes out quick and is a great bang for the buck. Check them out!

Yelp
I really like this place. The food was fantastic. I had the lamb chops which were done perfectly and my wife had the scallops and she loved both how they were prepared and portion size. Our server-let's just say needs some training. I ordered a bourbon coke. He brought me a glass of coke and glass of bourbon. He complained he was so tired and not exactly what you want to hear in a night out. I will absolutely come back. I loved the energy and vibe but it was easy to hold a conversation. Great food!

Yelp
We love barbecue and this was a great experience for both of us. Friendly staff and a full selection on their menu resulted in a wonderful dining experience.

Yelp
Great food. Lots of seating inside and out . Menu changes for some variety. Would recommend

Yelp
Arrived at 46 North tonight at 5:15 pm on a Friday night. They were not yet swamped but it was definitely starting to ramp up. We walked in, wanted to sit at the bar but we weren't sure if we could just seat ourselves, so we waited for the hostess who was engaged in a somewhat lengthy conversation with another customer. We waited a little longer than it felt like we should have, then she finally told us we could seat ourselves. We sat down at the bar and there were two guys working behind the bar... button up shirts, rolled up cuffs, open at the neck, showing cute necklaces. Model good looks, no sense of urgency, no smiles. One of the bartenders was arguing with a server who had a complaint about something. We waited about five minutes seated at the bar, before one of the model bartenders gave us menus. We picked out what we wanted to drink, decided on an appetizer, and waited for someone to take our order, but nobody did. We waited about 5 more minutes, with the bartenders hustling to and fro right in front of us but avoiding eye contact, then walked out. 10 minutes is a long time to be sitting with no drinks. Another business downtown got our 85 dollars in dinner and drinks tonight.

Hannah R.

Yelp
Went there for drinks and appetizers later in the evening, very nice atmosphere and our server was attentive. The fried pickles here are honestly the best in town!

Yelp
Made a reservation for Valentine's day/my bday dinner... and was horribly disappointed. Atmosphere: * We were sat in the far back, which made for a terrible experience in itself. (Literally made me feel, I got all dressed up for nothing.) Reservations should get the best seats...not the worst * Everyone was wearing jeans and basketball was playing on TV.. (The fact there were TVs at all was dissapointing)... l was expecting a high class experience; not tacky Food: * Appetizers- Fried pickles were a joke. I got them for the gouda cheese and there was literally no cheese in them...And, they were soggy; literally everyone else who has them in town does them better Wings- My boyfriend enjoyed them, so that's a plus; the homemade blue cheese was really good. * Drinks - Tried the Gin fizz. It was served in the wrong glass style... Tasted okay. The coffee really good with cream added * Entrees: My bfs salmon was really good; Great presentation and flavor. Wish I would have ordered it. Sirloin- NOT worth the money. Ordered medium rare, which is how it came. The presentation was sad. Just a blob of mashed potatoes (completely plain and flavorless) on the side of 4 slices of sirloin with some rancid tasting tomatoes in the middle. Meat was tough and chewy with only salt as a flavor. Should have just gone to my parents house and ask my dad to cook me a steak. * Dessert: Flourless chocolate cake - Tasted fine but we burnt our mouths because the internal temperature was so GOD DAMN hot and we had no warning. When I burnt my mouth on f-ing cake I was about ready to cry. * Sevice: Our server was very very sweet and we could tell she was trying really hard. However, when we asked about a GF menu, she said we dont have one and proceeded to attempt to talk about 3 dishes. We expected her to say, they're GF. Instead she told us, "but those aren't Gluten Free." Towards the end of our night she commented; You guys got the back all to yourselves and I said, we really wish we got to sit in the nice part of the resteraunt and she apologized that we got sat back there. Generally, I tell resteraunts if I am not happy with the experience, but I did not want to complain on my birthday. I'm so bummed I dropped $100 bucks on this place - I was ready to spend more and am very glad I didn't. So so so disappointed :,(

Yelp
Awesome place to grab a quick bite or to bring family and friends to have a great sit down dinner! The lamp chop appetizer is to die for. Fish and chips are a go to for me and are amazing! Pasta, burgers, apps everything is great!

Yelp
Love this place! Came in at 6 PM on a rainy Wednesday night and got seated instantly, and had excellent service from i think...Mike. The extensive beer and cocktail list was impressive. The prosciutto on the burger along with an IPA was a tasty combo. Was a tad expensive, but who doesn't like to splurge. Will be back definitely!
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
Their service is quick, for those working downtown wanting a place to dine. Burgers are delicious and juicy.
google avatar

Yelp
It's smaller on the inside. Nice selection of taps, bottles. Interesting food selection. I shall explore further. Neat corner view of downtown.

Yelp
We've been to 46 North Pints & Provisions several times since they opened. Every time we've received great customer service. The food is consistently good and we enjoy the menu. Most recently we tried the lamb pops which were treated well and not over cooked-it's hard to find restaurants in Fargo who know how to properly cook lamb! The ribeye was cooked to order and well seasoned as was the scallops-again it's hard to find places in Fargo who cook seafood correctly. The atmosphere is open and can feel loud but the booths have the best view! If I have anything less than positive to say it would be about the bar staff. We've had to send back drinks that haven't been properly made-a Manhattan made with dry vermouth does not taste delicious! We've never had issues with them not redoing our drinks and with a little more training it would be a non-issue. Overall we've had positive experiences yummy food here.

J Dawg B.

Yelp
Love my Appitizers and steak. Steak was the best I've ever had. The owners put a lot of detail and attention to their food, and it shows. I highly recommend.

Shawn A.

Yelp
Was celebrating a birthday with some friends and had a dinner reservation here. The menu has something for everyone and a variety of price points. The service was good, but the server was a bit inexperienced as were the food runners. Our entrees were arriving and we were still enjoying our salads. I wouldn't normally complain, but it seemed odd to have entrees arrive that fast - I see this as a fixable situation through training. This is why I gave only 4 stars. I think the timing ultimately affected quality of entrees for our table. The craft drink menu is creative and offers some unique drinks to try. The bar is well stocked and the wine list offers a nice variety.

Flowers B.

Yelp
Great fresh salmon salad, tasty local brew served by knowledgeable server! Love the big windows!

Yelp
I like this joint, been there several times for just drinks and food. I have to say they have one of the best Bison Burgers i've had, and i've had a few. Good apps, the spicy shrimp - fried pickles which are getting to be yesterday much like poutine but done in a different style than others. My brother was up from Phoenix last spring and we were there, chatting it up with the bartender. I was back 4 months later with some friends and she remembered me, very nice touch. The managers come around asking how everything is. Place looks great, Big bar which really seems to be the defacto for downtown joints. Twist, Wurst, Boiler Room, Toasted Frog must have all had the same designer; but that's our downtown I guess. It would be nice to start seeing joints pop up downtown that doesn't emphasize the need to Industrial look / Large bar - take a tip from Toscana's, let your food do the talking.

Renae M.

Yelp
Had lunch there today. Service wasn't that great. The salad was completely boring and tasteless. The atmosphere was uninspiring. Lots of other better options to go to downtown. Definitely not going back.

Daniel B.

Yelp
This is one of the best places downtown, so when looking for someplace that's usually completely full on weekends to eat at on a week night it came to mind immediately. Visited on a Wednesday night, but the kitchen was slammed by a large group that came in without a reservation and they had their a typically full restaurant and bar. Our service was great. What seemed like a very short wait our waitress apologized for our appetizer taking so long and the manager comp'd us a round of drinks. I promise you we were not concerned about the wait at all. The lambpops were fantastic. Then our entrees came. My entree was perfect and more than I could eat. My friend's salmon was too pink, but the salad was great. My friend told our waitress that there was plenty of salmon she could eat and would take it home, so it would be over cooked if she reheated it anyway. Our waitress provided a whole new piece of salmon cooked to perfection. Then the manager came over apologized and comp'd the entire meal. Getting surprised, a labor shortage, and even completely satisfied customers doesn't keep 46 Pints & Provisions from maintaining the highest standards and expecting more from themselves than patrons hope for. I tipped double what the entire tab would have called for by my normal standards (which are also high). This classy waitress and manager earned a ton of respect and customers for life.

Ruth B.

Yelp
My son and I went there since I was leaving to go to Bismarck and he would be starting College. We arrived at 5:00pm and we were seated quickly and then Kayla was our server. She asked if we were getting any drinks and said we would be ready to order in a few minutes. She did not return to our table even after I got eye contact with her which she ignored. She was responding to her other customers who came after us and ordered their food as we sat there trying to get her attention. We finally ordered and it took q long of time and as I was about to leave another server brought my food and my sons appetizer and his main course was forgotten. It took another length of time to call her over and then she asked was everything good. I explained how my son did not get his meal and then I told that she gave the worst service and totally ignored us but serviced her other customers She said that she was very busy even though we arrived when was slow. I told that was not an acceptable explanation. I will never go back there since there seems to be a problem serving a 65 year old Hispanic women a dinner that was not free. I'm wondering why a manager did not come to our table to see why were still sitting there. We finally left at 6:50. Horrible!!!!!

Jason M.

Yelp
my burger saved this review from being zero stars....i went in there with a group of 12 people and had to wait fifty minutes before inaccurate and unfulfilled orders arrived sporadically. there was another large table and a few patrons on the patio while we were there. I enjoyed my food but I felt anxious in waiting for the food and then when people didn't get what they ordered or received their food while others were already done eating, I'd go again but big groups should stay away unless something changes

Samantha S.

Yelp
Beer selection was poor. We ordered pickles that were supposed to be "stuffed" with cheese, there was barely any. Beef tips were awesome, wouldn't recommend the sliders however. Not horrible but could improve.

JR R.

Yelp
Great food. Pricey and a little slow, but a nice lunch. Try the toasted cheese and chicken dumpling soup. Great stuff.

Kalah E.

Yelp
Great food! I visited twice in a week. The first time was for lunch and I had a side salad with the berry dressing and a cup of the potato kale soup...it was delicious and very reasonably priced! When I went back for supper I had the Gouda stuffed pickles for an appetizer and the pulled pork sandwich....again, it was delicious! The food came out fast and was the perfect temperature. The restaurant looks smaller than it really is. There is plenty of seating, so don't let the looks of it from outside deter you from going in. Can't wait to go back and try something new next time!

Rhonda F.

Yelp
I tried the lunch special. Working downtown I have tried almost every restaurant. I had the Italian sliders - delicious! Will definitely eat there again.
