I visited "5 Napkin Burger" restaurant located in the Upper West Side, Manhattan, with my two grand children and sister on Tuesday, 09/03/2024, for lunch. We had just spent the morning at a playground in Riverside Park...and wanted to sit down and have a nice lunch. When we arrived, there was no customers in the restaurant. They showed us the table, near the front window, and ordered. The children's menu is something else...NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY...what restaurant does not have chicken fingers. On the menu, it is called chicken something, and when I asked the waiter do you have chicken fingers or nuggets, he explained, that this restaurant does not do that...they just cut up a chicken breast into strips...so...it is NOT chicken fingers and the kids disliked it very much. However, after waiting about 20-minutes...i stopped and asked the waiter who was standing with the other waiters chatting, do you have crayons/paper/something to keep the young children occupied? The answer, "NO, we used to, but no more." I said, for a restaurant that has a children's menu - this establishment is not "children friendly". Finally, the food arrived after about 30-minutes (by the way...ordered a cheeseburger and chicken strips (?) for the grand children, my sister ordered a salad, and I ordered a turkey burger), and some orders came with French fries...which were the WORST! Yes..hot...however, they were so salty - like they dumped salt on the fries...impossible to eat. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he just nodded...no comment like - "let me replace the fries for you" or "you will not have to pay for the salty fries" - nothing. We left the restaurant and will never be back. I do not know how the other restaurant with the same name in the other location is...but DO NOT GO to this restaurant with children and do NOT order the fries. NOT RECOMMENDED...too many other restaurant choices on Broadway that are much more accommodating for young children.
