New Restaurant 5216 Table & Tap Replacing Metairie’s Storied Swamp Room | Eater New Orleans

"At 5216 Veterans Boulevard, 5216 Table & Tap will occupy a freshly renovated space where the owners aim to bring craft drinks, pub games, and “classed-up bar food” to Metairie. I was told owner Ron Carazo recruited New Orleans bar veteran Dave Jackson — who has 20 years in the city’s bar and brewery scene and most recently worked as a bar manager at Besh restaurant Luke in the CBD — to help lead the project, which is Carazo’s first foray into the restaurant industry. They’re aiming for “craft cocktails in a sports bar setting”: a huge bar that seats 42 of the spot’s 120 seats, four wines on tap, and eight craft beers, plus a menu consulted on by a “local celebrity chef” that will carry her name. The restaurant is expected to open the last weekend in July." - Clair Lorell

Extremely disappointing experience. We ordered birria tacos, but what we were served were just regular beef tacos. When we pointed it out, the staff argued that they were birria and still charged us as if they were. The food took nearly an hour to arrive, despite the restaurant being practically empty. When we first sat at the bar, no one offered us menus for over 20 minutes—we had to ask for them ourselves. To make matters worse, our server was in a very bad mood the entire time. Overall, I would not recommend this place at all. It’s such a shame, because the restaurant itself is nice, but the service and food quality completely ruined the experience. I will never be coming back.

It was a birthday party that had me at this establishment and it was very much worth it. Since it was a party I thought food and drinks was gonna be provided but it wasn't. We still had a night to remember

The Brussels are great! A little over sauced, but great flavor profile. Nachos were greasy and covered in onions. -not so great. The Cuban made me gag a little, and the Parmesan garlic fries were awful.

Trivia night is always a great time here every Thursday! The kung fu nachos are to die for and they have an excellent selection of ice cold draft beer. We love coming here

Food was stupendous, service was remarkable. Way better than the Swamp Room, this is our new hang out on Vets! Drinks were amazing!

Pleasantly surprised with this place! We found this spot as we drove into NOLA late evening and had Brussels sprouts, oysters, and fish and chips and all were delicious. Service was good then slowed a bit as it got busier, which is understandable, but had a good experience overall.

First went in and was excited that it was no longer the swamp room, looks amazing, bright and fresh. From there the experience went downhill. We sat down and waited for maybe 5 minutes or a bit more before we got menus. We then tried to get the attention of every passing server for what I would say was again 5 minutes to no avail, we finally grabbed someone who nodded and then walked on. After another few minutes someone finally came to take our order, she took our drink order and I ordered a dessert. The drinks came promptly but the dessert took forever, I had to eventually go to the bar (we had not seen our server since getting drinks) and the bartender (although our server was standing right next to her) confirmed the order and went to check on it. When the dessert came out the gentleman who brought it said to me do you need 3 more spoons or are you planning to eat all of this, it was not extremely large, to which I replied, all mine, thanks. The bartender was excellent, personable, came to check on us, and brought more drinks when they were ordered. Overall the bartender saved the night, I would go again just with the hopes that they clone her and service gets better. P.s. it was busy, I will allow them that but it was not busy, the booth behind us never filled with people and there were empty bar stools, but perhaps they did not anticipate the crowd that they had for a Monday night, all be it the Monday before Christmas.

We have for trivia on Wednesday nights sometimes and the food’s always delicious. The drinks are always great. It’s a fun night out.
