A Dozen of Nashville’s Best Oyster Happy Hours | Eater Nashville

"Named for the stretch of highway that runs between Memphis and New Orleans, Jason McConnell’s Franklin restaurant features Southern flavors — and fresh oysters. A dozen ice-cold Gulf oysters are $5-off Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. during happy hour. If you can slurp down more than 10 dozen oysters in less than 30 minutes, you might earn your place on the 55 Oyster Wall of Fame." - Alex Hendrickson

I found this place as I was leaving Franklin, and it is probably a good thing as I loved it so much I would be here every day if I could! The food was amazing, and the service was top notch. I had the Hot Chicken plate with coleslaw and cheese grits. Absolutely delicious! Their Fried Pickles are to die for as well! Get here, and get some scrumptious food in you, you will not be disappointed!

Heard about 55 South on a local television show segment fairly recently. We were in Franklin today, so we decided to stop in. We went on a Wednesday during lunch hour. There was no wait, even though we opted to be sat at the bar. It looks like they get a decent crowd for lunch. We were there to try the much hyped Garlic Parmesan Crab Fries. They have a huge selection of beer, and we noticed there was one featured on tap called UFO Maine Blueberry. We asked for a taste, and ordered two. It was really delicious, just the right hint of blueberry. The Garlic Parmesan Crab Fries didn't disappoint. Everything was on point, from the cook on the fries -perfect!, to that delicious lemon mayo. We'll definitely be back to try other dishes. I can't wait.

From SoFlo. Hit this up with a group of six for a local meal. Overall atmosphere was fine. Par for the course. Waitress - - was very hospitable and kind (and purty). I ordered grilled chicken breast prepared blackened with rice and side Caesar salad ($18.99). Chicken was great and so was the rice and salad. Only complaint on my meal and my buddies is the quantity. The rice comes in a soup cup, sooo, not so much. If you choose the platter with jambalaya rice, also in a small soup cup. Portion needs to be much bigger. Other plates were the tacos and the catfish, which I solicited mediocre responses for. So, I’d still say try it, but you might still be hungry after your meal. I was. I still am! Prices were just under too much.

Good food, southern fare. Fairly priced. Friendly staff. Just bothered by the so-called 20oz, that was actually 16. Actually stopped and asked, “are you sure this is 20?”, to which he pointed to the water glass and said, “that’s 16 oz.” To which I was just …. I don’t know… somewhere between laughing and livid (see pictures). Just in case he/I was wrong (say the water glass was 20oz???), I ordered a 16oz PBR. Yep, you guessed it. Fit in exactly in the “20oz” glass. Yes, I’m that guy… I can’t “unsee” it.

We loved this place so much that we went THREE times while we were in Franklin for the week. Our last night there we took family with us. The food was delicious. I loved the salad with the fish and mandarin oranges. Best Old Fashioned and the Rum Drink was delicious! Left every single time beyond satisfied! Alana our waitress was such a sweet heart and so kind and on point! Amazing hot chicken too! 100/100

Came here for dinner. It was full, but found a window seat. Had the Mahi mahi which was amazing and good recommendation from my server. Marinated the dinner with whiskey mule.

My husband was craving Southern-style food, so we decided to try this place while we were in the area. Upon our arrival, the restaurant wasn't too busy, and we were seated promptly. Our server, a friendly gentleman, was incredibly attentive. Garlic Parmesan Crab Fries - These are an absolute must-try appetizer! They were exceptionally delicious and truly hit the spot! Chicken & Sausage Gumbo - Initially, my husband wanted seafood gumbo, but it had been removed from the menu. We settled for this one, and I must say, it was a bit bland and didn't quite meet my expectations. It was okay but nothing spectacular. Grilled Shrimp Salad - The portion size was decent, the dressing was delightful, and the shrimp were fresh. Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya - Our waiter suggested adding a fried egg on top, which turned out to be a genius idea. The dish was excellent, and my dad thoroughly enjoyed it. Fried Catfish - The fish was fresh and well-seasoned. I highly recommend it :) Overall, we had a delightful experience at the restaurant. The ambiance was wonderful, making it a perfect spot for family gatherings or special occasions. I would definitely recommend it!

Our bartenders / servers Shaye & Carlos were amazing! Did you know, you can order food from the steakhouse next door or, stick with their menu. Ask for the secret bourbon / rye menu. You will find some of the most unique whiskey, rye and bourbon in the area.
