55 South - Review - Franklin - Nashville - The Infatuation

"55 South is where you go in downtown Franklin when you’re craving Gulf Coast comfort without the interstate mileage. The menu leans hard into oysters (raw or chargrilled), crunchy po’boys stuffed to the brim, buttery shrimp and grits, and a chicken, shrimp, and sausage gumbo that can fix most bad days. It’s loud in a good way—families and dates post up at the bar and coexist over frosty beers and strong whiskey-tinged Cajun mules. Plan for a wait at peak hours. That includes brunch, where you can expect spicy Bloody Marys and something fried tucked into a biscuit." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

A Dozen of Nashville’s Best Oyster Happy Hours | Eater Nashville

"Named for the stretch of highway that runs between Memphis and New Orleans, Jason McConnell’s Franklin restaurant features Southern flavors — and fresh oysters. A dozen ice-cold Gulf oysters are $5-off Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. during happy hour. If you can slurp down more than 10 dozen oysters in less than 30 minutes, you might earn your place on the 55 Oyster Wall of Fame." - Alex Hendrickson

I found this place as I was leaving Franklin, and it is probably a good thing as I loved it so much I would be here every day if I could! The food was amazing, and the service was top notch. I had the Hot Chicken plate with coleslaw and cheese grits. Absolutely delicious! Their Fried Pickles are to die for as well! Get here, and get some scrumptious food in you, you will not be disappointed!

Heard about 55 South on a local television show segment fairly recently. We were in Franklin today, so we decided to stop in. We went on a Wednesday during lunch hour. There was no wait, even though we opted to be sat at the bar. It looks like they get a decent crowd for lunch. We were there to try the much hyped Garlic Parmesan Crab Fries. They have a huge selection of beer, and we noticed there was one featured on tap called UFO Maine Blueberry. We asked for a taste, and ordered two. It was really delicious, just the right hint of blueberry. The Garlic Parmesan Crab Fries didn't disappoint. Everything was on point, from the cook on the fries -perfect!, to that delicious lemon mayo. We'll definitely be back to try other dishes. I can't wait.

From SoFlo. Hit this up with a group of six for a local meal. Overall atmosphere was fine. Par for the course. Waitress - - was very hospitable and kind (and purty). I ordered grilled chicken breast prepared blackened with rice and side Caesar salad ($18.99). Chicken was great and so was the rice and salad. Only complaint on my meal and my buddies is the quantity. The rice comes in a soup cup, sooo, not so much. If you choose the platter with jambalaya rice, also in a small soup cup. Portion needs to be much bigger. Other plates were the tacos and the catfish, which I solicited mediocre responses for. So, I’d still say try it, but you might still be hungry after your meal. I was. I still am! Prices were just under too much.

The Po Boy Remix was awesome and authentic. A taste of New Orleans that was very tasty and complemented by a draft local brew. So glad we stopped here for lunch while touring the town and shopping.

Came here for dinner. It was full, but found a window seat. Had the Mahi mahi which was amazing and good recommendation from my server. Marinated the dinner with whiskey mule.

We were visiting Franklin for the weekend and stopped by for brunch before heading home on a Sunday. We were seated immediately and our server greeted us as we sat down to take our drink order. I had the 2 4 1 mimosas and my partner had the bloody Mary bar. We started with char grilled oysters that were cooked perfectly and loaded with cheese and garlic. For my meal I had the breakfast burrito without sausage and my partner had the chicken biscuit with gravy. The portions were large and both were delicious. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming and our server was friendly and attentive. I didn't get photos this time because I was exhausted from the concert the night before and needed food! You'll have to go see for yourself how great it is!

So far, this place is Tosha’s favorite spot in Nashville (actually in Franklin)! She got the Shrimp and Grits, and raved about her perfect choice for the rest of our trip 😁. I got the Chicken Biscuit & Sausage Gravy. It was good. The eggs were prepared very nice and soft. Our server was very astute, helpful and respectful. The location and atmosphere that 55 South offered is second to none! Note: Changing station in bathroom for the babies.

At 55 South, the food was really good! I had the brisket tacos and my husband had a burger—both were delicious. We didn’t have to wait long for our drinks or food, which was great. However, once our entrees arrived, our waiter seemed to disappear. There was no follow-up to check on how the meal was or to offer drink refills, and we had to flag down another server just to get his attention. Other than that, the food itself was excellent and made the visit worthwhile.
