Fort Lauderdale and Broward County’s 10 Best New Restaurants, 2024 - Eater Miami

"If you’re looking to Paté all day – as in the Haitian puff pastry often stuffed with chicken, beef, or seafood – Paté Bar is the new unpretentious spot. Tucked at Polo Bar & Grill, the patés run the ingredient spectrum here including jerk chicken, lobster, curry chicken, turkey, and even herring. You won’t break the bank either with patties running in the $7 to $10 range." - Jesse Scott

Yelp
Treelion is one of those places that quietly surprises you. It might seem like a little hole-in-the-wall at first glance, but once you give it a try -- wow. The food is really, really good, full of flavor and clearly made with care. It's the kind of spot you stumble on once and then keep coming back to. No hype, just great food and good vibes. If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and check it out -- treelion is a sleeper hit that deserves way more attention.

Yelp
Always a vegan go-to for me when I am in the neighborhood and they never disappoint. While most of their meatless proteins are soy-based, Caribbean vegan takes soy-based meatless protein to new levels. I appreciate flavorful vegan food at affordable prices. I learned that they recently moved to a larger location almost directly across the street from the old location. Be sure to read the signs and find your way to the location almost catty-corner to the old location.

Yelp
The food here was pretty good. The older gentleman that served the food was pretty polite and he gave a good amount. The only thing I was not a fan of was the new location and it's presentation. I'm a stickler when it comes to cleanliness and sanitation. I'm not saying it was not clean, it just wasn't presentable enough for my liking. I did give the food a try because it has always been on my must try list, so that box is checked. I Just wish it was at a better location. .

Yelp
My wife and I came here for lunch today and both really loved the food. My wife wasn't sure if it was fully vegan, but it is. Most of the proteins are soy based but they also have other options. We were fortunate to be able to try a lot of what they had available. My favorite was the Veggie Beef and the Ital Stew. The Rasta Pasta was also pretty good. Overall great food, great service and great price. We will definitely be back if we're ever in the area again.

Yelp
Crispy shrooms with Rasta Pasta was delicious taste authentically on point. Service gave good vibe and accommodating all inquiries from a first time visitor. Will definitely return when in the area. Thanks

Yelp
Treelion may just be my favorite vegan restaurant in south Florida. I haven't actually been in about 5/6 years but today I ordered delivery and lord it is so amazing. Just as good as I remember. It is affordable, fresh, delicious food that I have absolutely 0 guilt about eating. I got 2 combo plates today with Rasta pasta (THE BEST), veggies, veggie chicken and veggie steak. The juices are so refreshing and they're not ridiculously overpriced like every single other vegan place out here. If you can't make it over there, definitely order it for delivery. It's so damn good

Yelp
Nice spot for homemade creative vegan food. I got the rasta pasta collard greens and chikn. All was pretty good and tasty for about 8 bucks on lunch special. The service is nice quick and attentive. O knocked off a star for organization. It just seems so hectic in there people coming in and out standing by waiting for food, one person in the back without a mask on handling food, bringing it to the kitchen. No gloves were used to spoon up and box my food. These important things at this time need to be addressed before i feel fully comfortable going back. They deserve a decent review because i know everyone is trying to get used to how things are now but it should be known, recognized and addressed.

Yelp
TLDNR Really nice Rasta Style Vegan Restaurant. They have 2 locations. The place we visited was located on Hallandale Beach Blvd., just east of 441. The Food was fantastic. The interior leaves a lot to be desired for a restaurant. ____________________ The interior is very unusual. The place looks like everything was thrown all over the place. They seem to do a lot more togo orders, since the atmosphere is lacking. I was not expecting white table clothes, but this place was a mess. Now for the food... the best plant-based food I have eaten out. The food was spectacular and large portions. Now this place has many vegan dishes on the menu, however they also sell fried snapper. My wife and I split the large combo with three types of protein (steak style, chicken style, and a tofu, soy dish). The flavors were off the charts, we loved all three. The meal also came with brown rice and peas (red beans, Jamaican style), and mixed vegetables. The meal was large enough to share for only $12.99 + tax. We sat outside on the patio and it was a very pleasant. They have a large selection of fresh fruit drinks. There is no table service and it was hard for me to hear and understand the sever behind the counter. He found it funny that I did not understand that he was telling me that had a patio and wife had to translate for me. He found it necessary to joke with the the cook about how I was not able to hear him. I explained to him that I had a hearing loss. I give them 5 stars for the food and 3 stars for the interior and service. We will definitely go back. Next time we will probably take our food to go. If you can get past the way this place looks, I think you will enjoy the food as much as we did.

Yelp
I was in the area and this spot popped up. I loved that they had a lot of vegan options and vegan Caribbean food is my favorite of all time! This place is small and dark, but has an outside area I did not check out. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious!! Price was a bit high versus similar establishments but I have no complaints. 100% recommend.

Yelp
Dang! Soooo good and so healthy! My husband and I were on our way to an appointment down the street and planned on stopping somewhere else for lunch but ended up here. I'm so glad we got to try somewhere new though! When we walked in, there were a few people in line but everything went pretty quickly. I had to slow up the process by letting the guy know I'd never been here before and asking what everything was but he was more than friendly and showed/ explained everything to me. Luckily there was only one other person behind me. My husband and I both decided to get the medium size box which comes with two "proteins", a starch and calaloo. The 3 sizes are small for around $8, medium for around $11 and large for a couple dollars more (large comes with 3 "proteins"). They also have fresh juice but when we arrived there was only Apple Ginger, Pineapple Ginger, and Hibiscus Ginger. We decided on the hibiscus, which was lightly sweetened with sugar but quite spicy from the ginger. For my mean choice, I was so indecisive but he let me have a little bit of all of the boiled veggies/starches which are boiled plantains, boiled Jamaican yam & potato and boiled dumplings. For the proteins, he showed me everything and recommended the veggie chicken or the veggie beef. I chose the chicken and my husband chose the beef. The chicken tasted like it was in a jerk sauce and I think the beef was in a pepper steak type sauce. Both were delicious. I also chose the prawn as my other protein, it is made from arrowroot and is more of a starch than a protein but it was really good and was in a very tasty curry sauce. Overall, food was great here and I love how friendly the guy was. There were a bunch of people that came through as we sat there and ate, most of which seemed like regulars. You know a restaurant is good when someone tells you they come here for lunch every day!

Yelp
Excellent food choices; but the "building owner" is allowing the building itself to fall apart, which puts the restaurant employees in constant danger.
google avatar

Yelp
The customer service is very unpleasant. I went to get a large combo, and they had no vegetables. No plantains, CALLALOO or cabbage... to make it worse, I got home and tasted the brown rice and it's spoiled! The food wasn't hot when I got it, he offered to warm it for me. Which means it must have been Sitting out room temp all day. Spoiled rice becomes poisonous. The spinach patty was half spinach and half shredded carrots! No bueno. Plus I'm pregnant so having spoiled rice, made the rest of the food just off putting. Complete waste of $20. Never going back.

Yelp
Soooo good! I love their vegan "steak" & Rasta pasta the best. Big portions and so flavorful. Tons of vegan options! I could eat them everyday!
google avatar

Yelp
Go here . Don't ask questions. I don't even like vegan food but this was fire food. Very good. Don't judge based off appearance. 5/5 on the food

Yelp
I love trying new vegan restaurants , browsing through yelp I came across this place. I arrived it is very ma and pa kind of restaurant. I had no idea what I wanted, so I requested the guy to decide for me. I had vegan steak/ fish, then I had collard greens and pasta. It was a lunch special for all that food 11 dollars. Great vegan food that is AFFORDABLE! Service was great! I'd stop in whenever I'm working in West Hollywood.

Yelp
I recently started a plant based diet. It is difficult to find vegan food that tastes good. I stumbled upon Treelion and was pleasantly surprised. From the outside you may have second thoughts on entering but please do! The food is amazing! So full in flavor and taste. I ordered the vegan chicken, with curry stew! The portion was huge also and the price was great. I find eating vegan can be expensive but the prices at Treelion are super affordable and everyone who works here is very pleasant and helpful.

Yelp
Haven't posted in a while, but I was so surprised how good this place is I had to post something. I had the rice and peas with chickpeas and vegan steak. I gave my friend some and he didn't believe it was vegan.

Yelp
Great Food and EXCELLENT customer service not to mention everyone that comes in, feels like family and of course their Vegan chicken and rice was finger licking Good.

Yelp
I delivered for Uber eats and the cashier kept flirting with me. I was uncomfortable and annoyed. Can't say anything about the food.

Yelp
I tried Treelion for the first time today and everything was delicious and affordable. I am heading back there tomorrow for lunch and probably going to order extra for dinner tomorrow. Since I'm traveling, I need to take advantage. A must try!

Sheyla C.

Yelp
Vegan steak, vegan chicken, mixed greens and rice. I literally ate this plate of food so fast. So much flavor! Some of the best vegan food I've ever had and the prices are great too!
google avatar

Blake I.

Yelp
We ordered the stewed chicken and stewed fish dinners. Generous portions, well seasoned and balanced flavors. Was not a fan of the fried dumpling, as they lacked flavor and a bit dry. The building is tucked off the road so stay alert as you approach the address. This meal was worth the drive.

Yelp
Excellent Good and super friendly! Ppl are welcoming! Reminds you of Jamaica love!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
The food is seasoned so well, I came late in the day so they only had potato and plantain available for the boiled food option. The rice took me by surprise. Deliciously seasoned with ginger and garlic. I got the veggie chicken and veggie steak today that came with a side salad as well. I hate dressing on my salad when I'm eating hot food so this was a perfect combination- just fresh salad and hot food.

Yelp
It's always a great morning when I begin it with a bowl of porridge from Treelion. Growing up in Brooklyn, I remember the access to such a fine tasting, fulfilling dish. I haven't had that access in awhile until now. Every morning their porridge is made with different ingredients, from plantains, to pumpkin seeds, to peanuts, to green banana, to Irish moss. I don't know what I'm getting until I show up. It's a treat that stirs sweet memories I look forward to. It feels like home. Porridge isn't the only dish that makes this place amazing, the food is the reason why I love going here. They cater to vegans and vegetarians. It's nothing like being able to eat healthy and get authentic Jamaican cuisine. Ground provision or "food", as some call it, is food consisting of boiled green bananas, boiled plantains, potatoes, sweet potatoes, yam, boiled dumplings, and any other vegetable that is starch based, providing fulfillment throughout your day. This is paired with the array of soy based meats (which are non-GMO) like chicken, fish, and pepper steak. If vegan "meats" aren't appealing to you there are other healthy options like chickpeas, calalou, separately, or together that you can have with food or rice and peas which is prepared with brown rice. They also offer veggie patties, and fried dumpling made with whole wheat flour. Their prices are reasonable. Just the other night we bought dinner for the whole family, the seven of us, and spent only $57 and had food for two nights. I'm so glad I found this place through Yelp. The reviews speak to the truth of Treelion.

Yelp
Other than the guy at the counter who seemed very impatient with me (I was a first timer and a customer in the lobby had to tell him "be nice to the lady if you want first timer to return again and again!"). He didn't feel like explaining what items were available on the large meal. He was sort of impatiently raising his voice. I was like, "I'm sorry...I've never been here before. He didn't even seem to care! The only other thing I dislike about TreeLion is the fact that it's so far from me. Took me over an hour to go there and back. It's about 30 minutes from my house but I would drive there again if I have the craving. I ordered the vegan steak, vegan chikn, vegan fish, Rasta pasta, rice and peas, and callaloo. I basically tasted everything. My daughter and I really loved it. My husband said it was just okay. I was very hungry also so I enjoyed every morsel. White Jamaican guy was the culprit that left a bad taste in my mouth...not the food. The food was fine.

Yelp
I got the Rasta Pasta all the spice's tasted just right and I got enough that I could eat two times, overall it was delicious

Yelp
I forgot to take pictures of the actual food, that's how good it is. My husband and I frequent this spot anytime we are looking for something hearty yet healthy. Get the veggie steak!!! Very well seasoned and the service is always great. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Been there twice. First time I had porridge & wheat dumpling & a PineGinger. The second time I had a lunch box with veggie steak, Rasta pasta & wheat dumplings. The food just tastes so wholesome. Everything tasted exceptional & ready in a short time. A real home cooked meal & all vegan. Not to mention great pricing. The workers are also very genuine

Yelp
I sadly got lost finding this lil Gem! My fault for trying to take side roads and somehow ended up south & east! Even had to pay for getting on the turnpike only to get immediately off?! Crazy women drivers who should be using their navigator.... Owner was friendly! No surprise with all of these fabulous reviews! I left my selection up to him! For my little girl: $6 small container of ital stew, ackee, callaloo & chickpea goodness! Pineapple & ginger juice- yum! 2 large dinners to go as well: $8.50 each Black rice/ rice & peas. Banana, avocado, potato (not sure what kind but it was good!), the callaloo & chickpea.... Couple vegan meats. I really liked the vegan fish & he loved the peppered steak (I'm guessing from reviews that's what it was called lol) - it had okra. Love okra so much!! Food was full of flavor! Nice spice! That juice....! Next time I will try the ginger & passion fruit. Oh how I would love this place to be sitting on my corner! I would truly walk there & have lunch a couple times a week if not more! Why are these amazingly delicious & healthy places so few & far between and the "M" word is on every corner?! This chef needs a food truck and spread his food & message of LOVE to everyone!! Thank you fellow yelpers for another GREAT place!

Yelp
My daughter took me here today for the first time , she is Vegan and knows that I just love Jamaican food , the gentleman that took care of us super professional and friendly , the food out of this world, amazing , delicious I'll recommended to everyone to try it out even if you are not vegan, like in my case , they will see me again soon , need more places like this in Miami

Yelp
Once again, delicious food and really nice people! This time I discovered that on Fridays and Saturdays, in addition to their vegetarian i-tal choices, they also offer really delicious snapper escovitch! We also tried the vegan "shrimp" ... simply amazing. I and my wife have never been fans of simulated meat used in vegetarian cooking, but I've got to say theirs is incredible. I had a soursop juice drink with my escovitch, and as we left, mentioned that we've been meaning to plant one in our yard in Miami. The owner told us to wait a minute, and he gave us a soursop seedling (actually, over a foot tall) from the garden out back!! Once again, they're the nicest people here! Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
So many good things to say about this place! Based in an area that's not known for vegan and vegetarian foods in a major plus. Also, the pricing and portions you get are amazing (in gentrified areas or higher cost of living areas you'd easily pay $15 up for 100% vegan authentic meals). Though I don't care for meat substitutes, the food is delicious and authentic. It's nice to find hidden gems like this that allows me to not have to sacrifice my health for my hunger. I will definitely be back again.
google avatar

Ash B.

Yelp
The food was good and the service was super fast! The portion was amazing especially for what I paid! I ordered the Veggie Steak. I wasn't a fan of the turnip greens, but everything else was yummy! I'll be going back!
google avatar

Natasha R.

Yelp
Love love love this place!! It's a gem in south Florida!!! Everything is vegan, Ital delicious and they have fish on Friday's. Their patties are delicious I love the spicy one so good. I love everything honestly just keep going back and try every meal try everything. With the large you can choose a lot of options in one. Their juices are spectacular and the service is just out of this world. I will always support this spot.

Taciana T.

Yelp
This truly is one of the most AMAZING restaurants I've ever been too.... plus it's VEGAN. What more can you ask for :) It's a little hole on the wall but the food is great with large portions. The small usually feeds me for both lunch and diner
google avatar

Bella M.

Yelp
THIS IS GOLD VEGAN FOOD! Listen I have never had vegan food quite like this I almost thought it was a dream. The gentleman was so nice since it was my first time there he let me try everything which I thought was super considerate. I enjoyed everything so he literally served me a little bit of everything which almost made me cry so nice. I had this for my lunch break and still had left over for dinner! The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because of the place itself I feel it was crowded they deserve to get a big restaurant!
google avatar

Cici M.

Yelp
OMG THIS FOOD WAS AMAZING THE PICTURES TELL IT ALL. Great customer service! They called me to tell me the item I ordered was done for the night and they accommodate me and also gave me extra. Love this gem!
google avatar

Kelly B.

Yelp
This place is amazing!!!!! A true ital / vegan haven! It's a tiny place so you may want to get take out. Your dollar goes far here! Large portions, a party of two can feast for around 20.00! Try the veggie steak and Lima beans! Really try it all! It is all savory and delicious! Like spice? Add the scotch bonnet they have on hand or grab some from your local Publix to eat at home! Even our one year old couldn't get enough of their delicious food! My only criticism is that I've been wanting to try their Rasta pasta and they've been out the past two times I've visited.
google avatar

Ali C.

Yelp
One word amazing. I'm not a vegetarian, but if I have this kind of food I can become one. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor. Jamaican food at its best.
google avatar

Cynn G.

Yelp
Im so happy I came to this place ,a BANG for your buck ,huge portions and extremely flavorful and the beat part VEGAN ! I tried the veggie steak, veggie chunks, the rice ,Rasta pasta ,the chickpeas and something else I dont remember the name but it was delicious, one combo can be shared with two people easily . Coming back for sure!
google avatar

Josh A.

Yelp
Outstanding food, amazing portion sizes, laid back experience. 6/5 stars for sure. Server gave us a little of everything for first time experience and we are FULL. Can't believe they don't use salt either since it was all pretty flavorful. Asked if they use palm oil and they said they didn't. All vegan! My only recommendation to them is if you ask for water they serve Nestle bottled water. A lot of vegans try to avoid that company as much as possible due to child labor, water contamination, and exploitation of poor people's water sources. All that said, still 6/5 restaurant
google avatar

Tristian W.

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite vegan restaurants! They food is very flavorful with large portions that aren't expensive, which can be hard to find with vegan food a lot of times. I always get an extra meal to go when I come here. I really like the "prawn" dishes especially as someone allergic to shellfish I found it pretty neat and loved the way the plantains were prepared. They also have fresh coconuts and delicious fresh juices.
google avatar

Yelp
Venturing into veganism and saw this place on Yelp. It doesn't look like much outside but it was very clean inside. The person who took my order was very helpful and I ordered the chick pea, callollo and veggie steak lunch special and pineapple and ginger juice for the drink. The food was really really good. Very tasty and cooked perfectly. I did not like the texture of the veggie steak after the 3rd bite and was able to finish he callaloo and chick pea. Definitely will come back.

Yelp
This a vegan restaurant. This place is great. I usually order the veggie fish, with Rasta pasta, and greens. The portion sizes are great, it's filling and their home made are fantastic. Check them out. Jah Rastafari

Yelp
Wow! A vegan's wet dream. Delicious food. Highly recommend the vegan steak and the noodles! Heck try everything it's all good.

Christian H.

Yelp
Had the rice with veggie steak, veggie chicken, and veggie chunks. I knew as soon as i walked in it was gonna smack just by how good it smelled in there. Finally some cultured and properly seasoned vegan food . I'm absolutely in love. And the portion is so big for the price. Also tried the pineapple ginger juice and it was amazing and also pretty cheap. WILL DEFINITELY 100% be coming back! I need to try everything on the menu. Also i have to add that I'm usually not a fan of mock meats and prefer more Whole Foods but this soy meat was sooooooooo sooooo sooooo gooood!!!!
