From all appearances this should have been a great place for breakfast. It wasn't. I walked in at 7:45am and I was the only person in the place. Young girl said "Just one?". Not good morning or how are you. When I responded with good morning, she again said "Just you?". I was clearly bothering her so I stopped trying to be cordial and she said "sit wherever you like, but on that side of the restaurant" (man who took over waiting on tables was more attentive and in a better mood). As far as the food, good coffee, scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked, bacon had a nice smoky flavor and not overly crispy. The potato hash, however, was greasy and not seasoned. And the number one rule for any breakfast place - especially one that calls itself a diner - is any order of toast is two slices of bread cut in half. Not one small slice of sourdough cut in half. Overall, lots of other options in Austin, and certainly less pricey ones. $29 with tip for coffee, 2 scrambled eggs, 3 strips of bacon, hash potatoes, and one slice of toast. Good morning!
