"Būmu will be serving its last dinner service this Sunday just four months after opening its doors. The West Village izakaya was the latest from Joaquin “Quino” Baca, a chef who spent the early part of his career in the kitchens of Momofuku restaurants Ssäm, Noodle Bar, and Ko but who has had difficulty sustaining his solo restaurants in recent years." - Luke Fortney
"At Bumu, a big izakaya just north of Washington Square Park, the specialty is skewers of raw seafood and grilled meats. We really like the chicken skins and rich rabbit meatball, but like most of the skewers here, they’re small portions for $9. Sit at the big horseshoe bar and order a few cocktails and skewers as snacks, but if you want to have a full meal here, we recommend sticking mostly to the filling share plates, like the smoky okonomiyaki with bacon and the spam fried rice with grilled short rib." - Matt Tervooren
