Hot San Diego Restaurant Openings You May Have Missed, May 2025 | Eater San Diego

"A vibey brunch spot downtown with bookcases and bespectacled roosters lining the walls, opened by the Rise and Shine Hospitality team as their first foray into an elevated brunch arena. Expect playful plates such as matcha and strawberries waffle pops, shrimp katsu Benedicts, guavas and cream French toast, and The Bucket (fried chicken and buttermilk waffles served in a red-and-white-striped bucket), plus imaginative cocktails like Cotton Candy Sugar Rain, made with gin, elderflower, and raspberry tea, topped with a cotton candy cloud." - Helen I. Beautiful environment! The 6th &G Mocha was delicious! 😋 We also recommend the Breakfast burrito, the Bucket, Chipotle Chilaquiles, and the Lemon Meringue French Toast (it doesn't need syrup and it comes with a surprise). It is definitely a must visit!😍

I loved the atmosphere and decor. The presentation of food, choice of colors, silverware and cups were beautiful. The service was alright. Nothing spectacular. Same with the food. Nothing super noteworthy to match the amazing look. The ube roll wasn’t that great. The shredded cheese on top was interesting. Chicken was juicy, the hot honey was amazing. I could taste seasoning as in spice, but not salt. So maybe just a pinch, or perhaps the chef is conservative to allow the sauce to do the job. The breakfast burrito was underwhelming. A little greasy. Nothing really good or bad to say about it. Tots were cold with the rest of the hot food.

Google
A solid 3.5 but the experience was good enough to round up. Came here one Saturday morning for breakfast around 8am and it was mostly empty. Started off with some coffee drinks, they were all very sweet. For our meals we got the American breakfast, Chiptole Chilaquiles, and Shrimp Katsu Benedict. Everything was pretty good, the eggs on the benedict were overdone, but they did offer to redo it. The shrimp katsu was really good, nice and crispy with a little heat to it. We shared the Ensaymada Ube Roll which was really dry and just overall not that good, definitely hard pass on this one. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She brought us some house ketchup which has a little spice to it, a perfect complement to the potatoes. Overall a good experience despite a few hiccups. I would come back here again!

Google
Very tasting and filling! Interior decor is also really cool! I got the Turkish eggs, matcha waffle pop, and orange juice. All were good and very fresh! EDIT (second visit): The harvest waffle is also really goood 🤤

Google
Food was amazing! Very flavorful nothing we tasted was bad not even meh it was GOOD! Tatertots, French Toast, Breakfast sandwich, breakfast burrito all delicious. Our server was so nice and informative and had great recommendations! We would definitely come back (visitors from out of town)

Google
Just love the atmosphere!! I would give it 10 stars. Service and food are great! We could eat here every morning! Very comfortable to talk, eat and enjoy the start of your day. Its a MUST do breakfast place when you visit San Diego!!

Google
6th & G blew me away. The way I'd describe the interior design would be selectively eclectic, in a fun way. The staff are way friendly and helpful. Not too intrusive, and ready to offer recommendations and service at just the right times. The food was outstanding. I did not wan my dish to be over when I finished it. Everything was so beautifully balanced, textured, and presented. The price in regards to the dish that I got doesn't match the height of quality I experienced. If you come to San Diego, and you're looking for breakfast that will stay with you, look no further. And when your waitress suggests you to get the extra sourdough toast for your Turkish Eggs, listen to her, she knows what she's talking about.

Google
I found this to be a fantastic breakfast experience with a fun, dark atmosphere and a very friendly staff. The food was delicious, and the staff ensured that my coffee was always full. 6th & G Breakfast Co is highly recommended.

Yelp
Tasty and filling with cool decor vibes! I got the Turkish eggs, matcha latte, and a waffle dish. The Turkish eggs were unique and flavorful. They don't take reservations or a waitlist, so be prepared to wait 20-30+ minutes on weekends.

Yelp
I came with 3 of my friends for brunch on a Friday. The wait wasn't too bad, maybe 20 minutes. Ambience is nice. Service was mediocre and there were so many mistakes. I don't know what was going on with the kitchen either. 3 of the 4 of us got our food around the same time. My friend's came out almost 10 minutes after we got ours. The kitchen forgot the toast that came with one of the dishes, brought out a single piece of bacon for someone who ordered a side of the jalapeño bacon (supposed to be 3 and crazy burnt btw), never brought the waffle pop that was ordered (we asked about it a couple times too). I ordered a side of the sausage which came late and was so over cooked it was difficult to cut let alone chew (did not try and finish that). When I got the bill I noticed there was a charge for a side of sautéed veggies. That was a misunderstanding on the waitress's part. I asked if the sautéed greens that were in the Turkish eggs had mushrooms, she said yes. So I asked if I could get them without mushrooms. She said yes. They came late and on the side. So when I got the bill, I was charged for a side of veggies. When I brought this up to the waitress, she just said "oh, sorry." Pancakes: just ok. Smothered in the cream sauce to the point it was spilling off the plate. Benedict's: just ok. Luke warm on arrival Turkish eggs: whipped feta yogurt was delicious, but there was so much and not much of anything else. The bread that comes with was probably equatable to 1/2 a slice. And the food was barely lukewarm. All American: it was ok. Tater tots were good, but nothing special. Again, the food was not hot and the bacon was so over cooked and burnt. Our waitress seemed perturbed from the moment we ordered when my friend asked if she could go last because she was still deciding between two dishes. The waitress said she couldn't start with someone else because she had to go in a certain order per the device she was using to take our orders. We really tried to like this place. But it was a hot mess and just not worth the money.

Yelp
Just came yesterday and thought the inside was really cute. The service was great, and the drinks were fun and creativeI liked the concept of the cotton candy drink, though I'm usually not a fan of warm cocktails, so I did ask for ice (which probably didn't help the drink much). The Birria Benedict, however, was hands down amazing. I would come back just for that alone. The pancakes my wife ordered were okay not terrible, but not a standout. My son's steak and eggs were fine, though a bit bland and chewy. The tater tots were excellent. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try more dishes.

Yelp
This was an excellent breakfast spot! Absolutely unique style and great food choices! If I could give it more stars I would Staff were very courteous and friendly. The ambiance was on point: unique artwork, modern designs, Instagram-worthy elements!

Yelp
Food still is good but when you ask for a substitute of something and there is a up charge the customer should be told. My family owned 4 restaurants in SD and that is always rule of thumb to do first is inform the client. Didn't want potatoes but didn't eat the fruit we asked to substitute either. Would have just said no potatoes if I knew I was going to be charged 3.50 for something else I didn't want. Didn't want my plate to be so empty that's why I asked for substitution fyi Best espresso martini ever

Yelp
Tried 6th & G Breakfast in San Diego and overall had a good experience. There was a short wait to be seated, and while the service was a little slow, the inside décor was very cool and made the space enjoyable to sit in. For drinks, the iced coffee was on the sweet side, but the cappuccino was good. The real standout was the chilaquiles--they were amazing and absolutely worth coming back for. We added birria, which unfortunately turned out to be the wrong choice, as it was very dry and lacked flavor. The same issue applied to the Benedict. One small letdown was the potatoes. I'm not a fan of tater tots, and the menu described them as house potatoes, so that was disappointing. Overall, still a solid breakfast spot with some strong dishes. I'd definitely come back to try other items on the menu, especially the chilaquiles.

Yelp
There's a reason there's always a line here for breakfast! The vibes are immaculate and the food is amazing. The birria benedict is literally the best breakfast item I've ever eaten. The servers are amazing and kind and super friendly!

Yelp
This is a super fun spot for breakfast! The interior is really unique and eye-catching, and I love the aesthetic behind the place. Service was okay, a little slow but I guess that is expected on a Sunday morning for breakfast! I regret not trying a drink because everything that came out looked amazing, whether it was a cocktail or coffee drink! My breakfast burrito was whatever, however the waffle pop sampler was really fun and tasty. I'd say this is a fun place to go to if you're in the mood for a sweet breakfast

Yelp
Breakfast brunch with my boys, on a cooler-than-expected Sunday morning in October. They had a few people waiting for tables ahead of us when we arrived, but it didn't take long for them to clear a table on the patio for us, which I appreciated. To start, we each got a cup of their Spanish Latte ($7). My main was the Birria Benedict ($17), with a side of the consome (free) and avocado (+$2.50). My husband got the Chipotle Chilaquiles ($16.50) with Birria (+$5) and avocado (+$2.50). We also ordered a side of the Jalapeno Bacon ($6.50) to share. The lattes and bacon came out first - really quickly. So quickly that the bacon wasn't even hot, much less warm, when it got to our table. The lattes were good, not the best Spanish Lattes we've ever had (those were experienced in Vancouver, BC) but decent and warm and flavorful. The bacon was not worth $6.50, in my opinion. But maybe that's because I have a different idea of what "thick-cut bacon" should look like, and feel like, when cooked up and served. It was more sweet than spicy, which I should have expected, given "brown sugar" was listed before "jalapeno" in the description. It took long enough for our main meals to come out that our waitress had to stop by to apologize for the wait. We hadn't even really noticed, we were enjoying hanging out and chatting, but once she said something, we couldn't help but realize it had been a while since we'd placed our order. I will say that the plates, when they arrived, were full to bursting with food. So much so that neither of us were able to finish our meals, which very rarely happens these days (at least, not for the hubs.) My birria benedicts were tasty, pile high with slow-cooked and tender meat. The eggs were perfectly poached - should be a no-brainer but I'm always surprised when restaurants get that wrong - and melted right into the meat and English muffin. The tots were an interesting choice. I love tater tots, but I'm not sure they did anything for the plate overall. The avocado was creamy and rich, and served with a smattering of sea salt on top, which plussed it up in a way I wouldn't have imagined. My husband loved the chilaquiles plate, which was also so full of meat and toppings that I'm not really surprised he couldn't finish it. The two downers to the morning were the wait to get our check, once everything was cleared away (trying several times to flag down someone who could either find our waitress or bring the bill to us) and the bathroom, which was nowhere close to being clean, and made my toes curl the entire time I was in there.

Yelp
Super cute breakfast/brunch spot! From the eclectic decor and overall trendy vibe to the food itself, I'm glad I decided to stop by. Our server was also very sweet. Started the meal with the ensaymada ube roll, which was the highlight of my day. I'm a sucker for ensaymadas and this roll hit all the right notes. The roll is a good size too so I ended up taking most of it home. A friend and I split the breakfast sausage sandwich and soyrizo benedict. The breakfast sausage sandwich was very hearty. I did like this but ended up needing lots of ketchup as I could not really taste the garlic aioli. I'm not much of an eggs benedict person, but I liked this soyrizo version. Definitely a great option for vegan/vegetarian diners. We decided to try a waffle pop after seeing another table order them. Unfortunately, the blueberry waffle pop was kind of disappointing. The white chocolate sauce was thick and very sweet which overpowered the already sweet waffle. I'd probably skip the waffle pops next time, but I'll for sure be back!

Yelp
Came here for a breakfast date. My fiance loves trendy places so this was right up her alley. The food was delicious and I loved the atmosphere! The decor is so cute and the staff was kind! I love that you can sub vegan eggs (since I have an egg intolerance) it opens up the menu a lot! The Bucket was delicious and came with so much food! The Breakfast sandwich was so filling and the sausage was yummy! The fresh squeezed orange juice was amazing and the coffee hit the spot.

Yelp
Went in at 10:30 on a weekdat morning and there was no wait. It was still moderately busy. The staff were attentive and friendly, making sure we got everything we needed. I got the brown sugar latte. The espresso was smooth, but I wish it had a little more of that brown sugar flavor. The lemon curd for the lemon meringue french toast was smooth and the perfect balance of sweet and tart! The french toast itself was light and fluffy, no need for syrup. My partner got the omelet and thought the tater tots were a little overfried. Ambiance was trendy and kind of sophisticated. Would recommend for brunches with friends or dates

Yelp
I came here on a Friday afternoon around 1 pm. It's walk-in only. I've tried going on weekends before, but the wait is always 45 minutes or more. When I arrived, there were only three or four tables occupied inside, maybe 8-10 people total. Still, me and another guest waited outside for over five minutes before being seated, which was confusing since there were plenty of open tables. I brought my two dogs, and they are dog-friendly. My dogs are service dogs so that may be why we were allowed inside. It took a while for someone to come to the table. I was given water, but I had to ask for a refill and could've used a second one as well. Once I placed my order, a birria sandwich with tater tots, the food came out in under five minutes. The sandwich was absolutely delicious. Very flavorful, but very messy. You definitely need a fork to eat it, but it was worth it. When I was ready to leave, I waited about five minutes and couldn't find the waiter so I went up to the bar to close out. Overall, the food was great. Unfortunately, the wait to get seated, the slow service, and not being checked on were surprisingly bad given how empty it was. I can only imagine how rough it gets when they're busy. Because of that, I'm not sure it would be worth coming back.

Yelp
Cute little trendy breakfast spot in the area of Downtown SD! There was a decent wait , but I was first to arrive for the group so was able to put us on their waitlist the Sunday morning I came here. Upon entering in, the unique decor and details all around make for a special and different dining atmosphere. I ordered the Iced Toffee Nut Latte and for my meal the Turkish Eggs! These eggs were made perfectly with a creamy balance of textures and flavors, perfect for sourdough bread dipping. I also tried their Matcha Flooded Pancakes and the Waffle Pops Sampler. These did not disappoint! The matcha glaze on top made for a unique flavor combination that stood out. The sampler of the waffle pop was the perfect way to have tasty treats of all 4 options which ranged from savory to sweet! S'mores waffle pop and maple bacon, were my top two favorites that stood out. The hosts and server were friendly and helpful which made for an enjoyable brunch meal out!

Yelp
So glad we decided to check out 6th and G rather than stick with the first brunch place we stopped at. Great vibe, lively, loved the decor, loved the tableware, loved checking out the book titles (inspo?) placed above around the bar/counter seating. Had the matcha flood pancakes (pancakes are ube-infused), which are wonderful and fun and beautiful - what a great idea. Meat Lovers scramble was also very good, and I love that the toast came with butter AND jam. I noticed that the bathrooms were a bit dirty, but one was cleaned up the second time I went in it. Overall, you can tell there's a lot of attention to detail to everything, and even though there's a very fun vibe, they are also very professional and care deeply about the customer experience. I would definitely return next time I'm in San Diego.

Yelp
Street metered parking only. Rough on weekends. Parked about 3 blocks away. Meters start at 10am. They open early and are kid friendly. Major plus. They had a cute coloring sheet for kids and the waffle pops are kid sized. Staff sat us quickly and were friendly. Food came out quick! Ordered: Toffee nut latte $6 - really sweet, even at half sweet. Spanish Latte $7 - much better than the toffee nut. Flavors were nice and it wasn't as sweet. Pink bubble $14.50 - so cute and loved the bubble! Taste was great. Cotton candy rain $14.50 - this was cute with the cotton candy cloud that drips into the drink while hanging over the steam. This is a hot drink. Flavor wasn't too strong alcohol wise, but it was freakishly hot and took awhile to cool down. Pretty, but wouldn't get again. S'more waffle pop $5 - perfect size for kids. Kid approved. 6th & G burger $18 - heavy garlic flavor, loved the jalapeño bacon. Tater tots are herby. Birria sandwich $16 - good flavor, wasn't dry, consume was good as were tots. Chicken bucket $21 - comes with half a chicken and a whole waffle cut into quarters. Chicken was good! Waffle crispy. Breakfast sausage sandwich $14 - not a fan of this one. I just didn't like the overall flavors. I think bacon would have tasted better. Steak $24 - the steak was a little gristly but good overall. Everything was great, we'll be back!

Yelp
There was about a 30 mins wait which was expected. Food was enjoyable for me but my friends had some of their own concerns; specifically the pancakes. To them it was bit too doughy. I can't confirm but I'll take their word for it. I had the 6&G burger which was pretty good. The potato tots were nothing special overall decent experience. I really like my mocha. There are two flooring levels, one a little elevated like a wooden deck and then the ground floor level.
google avatar

Yelp
A very eclectic interior, a lot to look at and absorb, lots of seating inside and some outside seating as well. Wait wasn't too bad for a Sunday morning, probably only about 15-20 mins, which was pretty fast given the amount of people in line. Service was good too, pretty fast for how busy the restaurant was. Now onto the food, generous portions, very flavorful. I ordered eggs and 'potatoes', since it stated potatoes I was expecting something like country potatoes, not tots. The pancakes were very good. Next time I'm San Diego, will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
When we got there the host welcomed us and then said it would be just a minute to clean off a table. While she was doing that, but before we got seated something broke behind the host stand and we had to wait a bit more to get seated. We got sat against the windows. At first it was fine, but then as the sun moved and reflected on the metal tables outside, the glare was a bit annoying. After a few minutes the server came and took drink orders. We tried the Ensaymada. Different taste, but good. Overall food was good. Nothing to above and beyond but better than the place that was here before.
google avatar

Yelp
Very cute place. Food tasted good with good portions. Service was good, little bit slow. I got jalapeño bacons as a side. It has a little kick. You can split the bills with no hassle.

Yelp
One of the best brunches with great ambiance I've had in a while. Service was good too. Our server was very nice and gave good suggestions . The restaurant's decor was so cute and I loved their pretty pink plating design... even their salt and pepper shakers matched! Everything we ordered was delicious. We ordered the fried chicken and waffle bucket, Turkish eggs, Chilaquiles, Meat lovers scramble, and mimosa with cranberry and pineapple juices. The presentation of the food and drinks were so adorable. Even our champagne was placed in a cool decorative paint container. My favorite was the fried chicken and waffles. The fried chicken was so juicy and flavorful, even the chicken breast wasn't dry. I'm normally not a waffle type of gal but this waffle was crispy on the outside and so chewy and soft in the inside, almost like mochi. I loved it! I want to go back just for that bucket! Then I also enjoyed the Turkish eggs. It was a mix of veggies, feta and poached eggs with yummy toasted sourdough bread- so delicious! The tater tots that came with the egg scramble were so crispy . I loved tater tots and these were fried perfectly. I highly recommend this place for brunch. It's great to go with more people so you can share and try a variety of plates. It's in the gaslamp but luckily we went on a Monday and found meter street parking. I can't wait to go again.

Yelp
Out of towner. Solo diner, was able to sit at the bar. The young guy behind the bar was very polite, prompt and provided great recommendations. I ordered the Turkish eggs which was the best thing I've had in a while. I wanted more toast (but didn't need it) to sop up the deliciousness. Good coffee, cute serving dishes the place is a whole vibe. I thought the price point was good. Loved the decor. Enjoyed

Yelp
Everything was good. I like that the menu wasn't overwhelming with choices We ordered the house burger some bloody Marys that though we didn't order spicy I found spicy anyway but delicious. Love the moody and charming atmosphere

Yelp
While staying in the San Diego overnight, we had a great breakfast ! Great big cups of coffee, great atmosphere! Love the quote on the wall. Amazing breakfast potatoes! The spice on them is perfect! Really enjoyed this spot!

Yelp
I had a great time the first time I went here with my husband and son. The food and drinks were all delicious and the server was also wonderful. He kept coming back if everything's ok and if we needed anything. He would even refill our coffee. I recommended this place to my friends and again did not disappoint! The female server was so cheerful, friendly and attentive to us. Aside from eating delicious food, the exceptional and warm service is what will make me go back to this place again.

Yelp
This brunch spot is an experience from the moment you walk in! The décor is so unique yet still super cute, and you can tell every single detail was thoughtfully planned. The drinks? Creative with flair and just as fun to look at as they are to sip The dishes were beautifully presented and somehow tasted even better than they looked bold, unforgettable flavors across the board. Huge shoutout to Gigi, who was absolutely on top of everything even though the place was packed. Friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel effortless. If you love brunch with personality, style, and flavors that leave an impression this place is a must. Already planning our return!

Yelp
Cute decor! Cute location - tasty food. Went for breakfast- and enjoyed most of the food - but not the tatertots.
google avatar

Yelp
Fun, eclectic place for brunch with lots of instagrammable little pops. We opted to share a bottle of sparkling with *fresh squeezed oj* between the two of us, which was absolutely the best decision we made and honestly, I can't remember exactly what I ordered after that lol but I remember it was delicious. I fell in love with the pink dishes and wanted to take home a big pink cup and saucer so bad! The staff was friendly and I'm going back for the vibe. Recommended!

Yelp
Came here for a Sunday brunch/snack before starting our day in San Diego. Arrived at quarter to 10 and our table of four was seated in 15 minutes - not bad for a popular downtown spot. The inside of the restaurant is really fun and interesting. Among the things I remember on the walls - paintings featuring a rooster with glasses, paintings with a glowing light running through the subject matter, different animals, and different quotes. A little bit of something for everyone to keep those phones tucked away. Server was very laid back and friendly. Also, offered plates for sharing based on what we ordered. My favorite item was the Grilled Birria Sandwich. Bread was grilled perfectly golden and crispy. Dipping the sandwich in a thick birria sauce was satisfying. Tater tots were fried really well. Orange juice - fresh squeezed, thumbs up. Had the Shrimp Katsu Benedict. The Benedict portion was fantastic. I've never had a Shrimp Katsu before - it was like a firm ground shrimp patty with light breading. Thought the shrimp part was good, but I would want to try the other options next time to see if there is a better match for my personal taste. Fruit salad had a really nice variety of fruits, but quite a few things were out of season and not very ripe - most notably the blackberries. 6th & G is a really cool brunch spot conveniently located in the Gaslamp Quarter - I can see why it's such a popular restaurant.
google avatar

Brielle O.

Yelp
Honestly not that impressed here. The host was so friendly and got us in fast. The waitress was nice and helpful as well. Once we ordered we felt like both of the meals did not wow us. They looked nice but lacked flavor and both us did not care to finish.
google avatar

Clarissa S.

Yelp
After reading all the great reviews, I was excited to try this place. The birria Benedict and the egg white omelette with chicken sausage were really good. We also ordered the waffle sampler and although the waffle itself tasted great, the toppings were way too sweet. The matcha strawberry was my favorite but it tasted more like pistachio. We also enjoyed the toffee nut latte and our waitress was a sweetheart and very accommodating.
google avatar

Ken G.

Yelp
This was a great spot in San Diego for breakfast. I had the Birria Chilaquiles - I added scrambled eggs and this ended up being such a great meal. The birria was tender and flavorful and the eggs added that extra protein to make the meal very filling. The place has an interesting vibe inside and helps to make for a unique experience for breakfast/brunch. The service was attentive. I'd visit this spot again!
google avatar

Marissa D.

Yelp
Better than I thought. Chilaquiles were solid and had great flavor. The birria added was a nice touch and without it, it would be boring. Birria sandwich was flavorful and juicy. Not pictured was the Ensaymada Ube roll because we sent it back. It was dry and the ube flavor was artificial.

Yelp
Service was amazing although short staffed. My first time coming to San Diego so I opted to stay downtown in the Gaslamp district. This place is walking distance from my hotel! And it's a whole VIBE!! My waitress ( black girl with cute blonde curls) was so dope ! I loved how she knew the menu and offered suggestions! Let's get into the decor. I set in the corner next to a book case ! This place is elegant with swag!

Yelp
First time here it only has been open for a month and this place is really cute! Nice decor and very good customer service! For my food I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was really good. I decided to not have the potatoes/tater tots but it was good without it. I will give it 4/5 which is decent. For my drink I ordered the express martini that was incredibly outstanding , and the Whiskey sunny side up was amazing!!! presentation was top notch as well for the drinks. We wanted to try the chicken and waffles in the bucket, we did not quite like it but they let us change it and was ok about it which made the situation good. Our server was good and very attentive and the manager working the front!! I will come back here to try other items on the menu. They have good cocktails and food options. -Marshay D.

Yelp
I'm afraid to admit I did see some IG reel with this Pink Bubble cocktail, and I wanted it! I've had a bubble cocktail once before and got excited when I saw it here. We may be here just visiting for the San Diego Rock N Roll half marathon, but it doesn't mean I can divulge in my foodie heart as well. I haven't been drinking as much lately, but I excused myself for this cocktail and I wasn't disappointed this morning. It's sweet but not too sweet and even the ice itself has the 6th and G logo embossed into it. It's just one of the many details this brunch eatery has to offer. I ordered the chilaquiles with shrimp and avocado added and although it may not be as authentic as could be, it was impressive with its taste and the homemade corn tortilla chips that had a super crunch that magically stayed crispy even though the chips were drenched in a medium spice sauce of wonderfulness. What's everyone's number one complaint about chilaquiles?? Usually it's soggy chips, but no... not here. They have achieved the impossible. My husband ordered the steak and eggs which came with tater tot perfection. I was hoping he'd order the fried chicken and waffles bucket but he decided to be "healthier" with the steak and eggs option. Whatever! (Insert eye roll..) I'm happy for him though that he really enjoyed his entree. Going backwards, we ordered the ube ensymada roll as an appetizer. It was also one of the sweet visuals I spotted in the reel, and it was really good. You'd be dumb not to order it. (Just kidding! But it's worth trying at least once).. It's not traditional like the Goldilocks or Red Ribbon ensymadas I ate growing up, but I like the twist on this classic Filipino pastry.

Yelp
I love the decor, plate settings and general ambiance of this place. It's a cute vibe. I wanted to try the cotton candy rain drink but they were out. Food wise, it was ok. I got the brioche French toast with strawberries. An extra $3 for 2 cut up strawberries is a bit much and didn't really do anything for the plate so I don't recommend that. It's worth a trip if you are looking for breakfast within walking distance of the convention center.

Yelp
This was a good brunch spot. We only waited about 10 minutes to get seated on a very busy day. However once we did get seated, it took a long time for us to get a glass of water, our orders taken, and for the food to arrive. But the food was amazing and worth the wait. 4 stars solely due to the time it took.

Yelp
Came back for the waffle pop like I said I would. And it was better than I expected it to be 10/10. The great thing is you can simply get a quarter of a full waffle, so it's perfect if you just want a sweet treat. I also had my bf get the Birria sandwich to get his take on it, and he rated it as a tie with Disney's. Our server was very friendly and she's the one that recommended to get the s'mores waffle, as I couldn't decide between that or the strawberry. And of course, I had to get the Spanish latte again. This is easily becoming my go to spot. See ya next time for the espresso martini!

Yelp
Located in gas lamp quarter--- street parking and or a parking garage is literally across the street! 6th and G is a vibe! It's so well decorated. It's giving flowers, tea party or my dreams kind of place! I found this place on yelp when I landed and me and my girl obvi had to come check it out! I got a Bloody Mary-- yum! Perfectly spiced. & I also got a hot latte. So good! She got a cold latte that she liked. For food- I got the breakfast burrito.. 10/10 so much flavor!!!!!! I literally was not expecting the food to slap this hard! My friend got the birria sandwich and said it was also a 10/10!!!! I had no idea the food here would be so good!!! Our server was super nice and attentive! She said we both picked good choices. Our waters were re filled fast! The bathrooms are clean! The entire place is an Instagram vibe!

Yelp

Yelp
The Rise & Shine Hospitality Group seems to be playing musical chairs with its breakfast ventures. This downtown spot used to be a Fig Tree Cafe but has been converted to a venue with a more upscale flair in 6th & G Breakfast (named after the intersection where it's located). Interestingly, the ownership used to operate Gaslamp Breakfast Company a few blocks south, but that place did not last long. The interior decor was modified to reflect a fanciful bar and lounge vibe with a motto of Amor Fati (love of fate) that also happened to be the WiFi password. The food menu was limited to one page like Breakfast Republic which is the flagship chain in the restaurant group. The categories were Specialties, Omelets/Scrambles, Benedicts, Buttermilk Waffle Pops, Pancakes, French Toast, and Sides. For drinks, the offerings featured coffee, lattes, cocktails, beer, sparkling, bloody marys, and non-alcoholic beverages like juices and lemonade. I came on a late afternoon during the final hour of business and sat on the booth side of a small table. The cushion was saggy and made me feel lower to the ground than I had expected. I asked the waiter about the Buttermilk Waffle Pops of which there were four types. He described them as a quarter waffle in size. You could get a Sampler which was a whole waffle with each of the four flavors in a quarter section. I chose the Blueberry variety to start my meal. The waffle was served with a popsicle stick inserted into the side and a white chocolate lemon sauce coated on top and six blueberries. I did like the sweet and sour flavor of the sauce, but $5 for 1/4 of a waffle was steep. The Chicken Anaheim Omelet was my other item. It was made up of three eggs and served with house potatoes (i.e. tater tots) and a choice of toast (wheat for me). The filling was asiago chicken fennel sausage, red onion, roasted anaheim peppers, and jack cheese. The eggs didn't taste as soft and creamy as the omelets I have eaten elsewhere. They were cooked longer and/or had more cheese which made the texture thicker than I liked. The herbal sausage was lean and savory. The service I received was reasonable. I rated the layout and atmosphere with four stars while my food for the price was closer to three stars. With numerous breakfast options in the Gaslamp Quarter, I am curious how 6th & G Breakfast will hold up against the competition including a Breakfast Republic one block east.

Yelp
New Victorian/prohibition themed brunch spot! Came here Sunday morning at 9am (Mother's Day). The wait was approximately 10-15 mins before we were seated. I got the steak and eggs which was really solid with the flavor! The only downside is I asked for my steak medium but it was definitely medium well instead. My friend got the birria sandwich and it was delish!!! I love how their house potatoes are crispyyyy tater tots and not regular potatoes. We also tried the ube ensaymada cinnamon roll. A bit disappointed with that as we can't taste any ube at all. We also got the lightbulb cocktail and a mimosa. Drinks were solid!! Pricing was very fair for downtown and service was decent. Will definitely be back to try the other items on their menu.

Yelp
6th & G Breakfast opened last week. There is no parking close by. Either park in a pay parking lot within a block or more and walk or take a car service, which is the case for most places in this area and may be a hugh turn off for many. Upon entry, we had to wait a while as the hostess wasn't present. But overall service was helpful and accommodating. The menu is limited offering a range of sweet, savory and creative selections of food and drinks. On my visit, I was barely awake and ordered the guava and cream brioche toast. My dining friend had the Chilaquiles and added avocado and birria, because likes a hearty meal. Both were presented nicely and were good. The space formerly held by Fig Tree Cafe had a major makeover and with decor featuring darkish colors, inspirational scribes on walls and the whimsical specs wearing rooster on chairs, just to name a few... while the new decor is cool, it lost most of the outdoor lighting that I like and is now dark and dim, which makes me want to go back to bed and sleep...lol Whether you're an early riser or you're a later starter, and want breakfast, brunch and/or lunch with a creative whimsical touch, it might be worthwhile in at 6th & G!

Yelp
We came to 6 & G for brunch. They don't take reservations, but luckily we only waited about 15-20 minutes and were seated right away. We ordered lattes and a Bloody Mary to start. All of the lattes came out mixed, and the server didn't ask if we wanted them iced or hot--so my friend was frustrated when hers came out hot. Usually that's something servers double-check. One of my friends ordered a super simple item--just a bun and egg--but it still came out with extras added. I also ordered a side of bread and they brought more than expected, but the server didn't explain why, which added to the confusion. There were just a lot of small misunderstandings, and overall, it felt like communication could have been better. The food itself was okay--not bad, but nothing super memorable.

Yelp
Visiting San Diego for the long weekend, this was our favorite brunch spot in the Gas Lamp District. The interior is gorgeous and full of eclectic decor, the service was great, and the food was beyond satisfying. After a couple delicious coffees, we ordered the birria sandwich and the birria Benedict. We thought we ordered too much of the same thing but both were insanely good in their own way. The waffle pop was decent, wishing it was more crispy so next time we'll be sure to order it that way. Awesome brunch spot!

Yelp
Came here for brunch and was completely blown away by the experience! First off, shoutout to our waitress Laisha--she was amazing from the jump. Smiling the entire time, super helpful, and knew the menu inside and out. It felt like we were in great hands the moment she approached our table. Now let's talk food: I ordered the Turkish Eggs and mmm mmm good. Perfectly poached eggs on whipped feta yogurt, with sautéed chard, crispy fried shallots, and just the right kick from the chili oil. The sourdough brought it all together. Every bite was balanced, flavorful, and hearty without being heavy. My husband had the birria chilaquiles. The meat was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. What really stood out was the texture--the chips were still light and crunchy despite all the delicious verde sauce. The avocado on top added a refreshing brightness, and the sauce had the perfect balance of tang and spice. My husband cleaned the plate--enough said. We also tried the Waffle Pop--though it was more like a quarter of a waffle, don't be fooled. The s'mores topping was everything. Warm, melty chocolate, a fresh graham cracker crunch, and pillowy-soft marshmallow. And listen... the Espresso Martini? Top. Five. Ever. Creamy, not too sweet, and just the right strength. The lightly roasted marshmallows on top were such a fun (and tasty) touch. Last but not least--the ambiance. I spent half the time just admiring the decor. Every corner of the restaurant had a vibe. It was the perfect blend of cozy and cool. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is a new breakfast and brunch spot in Downtown San Diego. This is place is part of the Rise and Shine Restaurant Group behind The Breakfast Republic, Fig Tree Cafe, Breakfast Company, etc. From the moment I walked in, I was nicely greeted and welcomed. The service was and is very good. I order the seasonal omelet with a variety of vegetables and a cortado . The omelet was well presented. I loved the freshness of all the vegetables, but the tomatoes were very acidic and unfortunately it gave the vegetables in the omelet a sour taste. Also, I asked for spinach, but they put kale in my omelet which was one of the other options. They should consider putting a white cheese in the omelet, such as a feta or queso fresco. The omelet needed some thing to bind it together and to add a touch of saltiness. The cortado was good up front, but at little bitter towards the end. The eatery offers a 1920's speakeasy appeal. It is quite comfortable. They offer inside and outside seating.
