Really wanted to like this place. Fantastic atmosphere, great looking menu - but it just fell short. For starters, almost never saw our waiter. Sat down to a table with half full water glasses, which no one stopped throughout the entire meal to refill. Two of the four of us were only drinking water so that was a little disappointing. My wife actually had to go up to the bar at one point to ask for a refill. More on that later.
Food was mediocre best. Of the three dishes, we tried, none of us had anything remarkable to say about them. Personally, I had the meatloaf sandwich. While, the focaccia bread it was served on had good flavor, but it was very dry and crumbly. To add to that, the meatloaf itself was cut into two thin slices that were heavily seared, resulting in a very dry, flavorless sandwich.
The other guests felt the brussels sprouts were overly sauced and slightly soggy. The shrimp tacos were so spicy, my wife couldn't eat them and had to walk up to the bar to get her water refilled to cool her palette. The dry rub chicken wings came out with sauce (which was odd for something listed as "dry rubbed"). That being said, the lefsa we had was quite delightful and tasty.
Unfortunately, the food was just mediocre and the service was absolutely horrendous. I've worked in restaurants and in the service industry before and can understand subpar service when you're in the weeds. I'm typically someone who's empathetic to that sort of situation and will even text tip extra when I can see that my server is doing their best on a difficult night. That wasn't the case tonight. The restaurant was maybe half to 2/3 full and there was really no excuse. Doubt I'll be back.
