Very delicious although I was under the impression there were more vegetarian options. What I did order was great as well as the cocktail. My SO enjoyed his steak and rated it 4 stars when I asked. Desert was very decadent.

Decor is nice and elegant Bread provided, sweet jalepeno cornbread and rolls Peach gazpacho-a bit tangy; Italian dressing,tomatoes, peach, onions Prawns - a little mushy like creamy soft, good flavor. Hanger steak- perfectly cooked. Meat texture was amazing, the carrot ketchup was delicious, the truffle tot was amazing, the green beans were perfectly cooked and not too over cooked or under. Everything tasted very fresh. Pork loin- texture was great but a bit too pungent pig flavored. Definitely not one of my favorites but very well plated. Sorbets-had a bit of ice on top as if too cold in the refrigerator The carrot cake was amazing. The caramel was a sweet delight with some other sauce that added a bit of sweet and tangy. The cream cheese filling was light, fluffy, buttery, and so yummy

701 Restaurant Celebration Restaurant All the Way! Great Food!- During our visit to Washington D.C. we decided to treat ourselves to a romantic dinner. Be aware that this will be a Benjamin (around $100) depending on your order. We opted in for a $50 bottle of white french wine to accompany our 3 course meals. We visited during the restaurant week they have locally there and chose from that menu. I had Salmon and the wife had scallops for the main course. For dessert we chose the peach cobbler and she had the chocolate. Excellent Food and the portions were perfect. Definitely recommend this place to romance anyone! Just be prepared for the pricey bill... But it's worth it once in a great while! :) Thanks for reading.

This was a fantastic experience and I cannot recommend this place enough. Let's get one thing out of the way - this place is not cheap. However, There's pretty good reason. They have an Incredible location right by archives metro, they have amazing staff that wait on you like the queen of England, they have delightful live piano in the main lobby with original art and views of the plaza, and of course, the food is in a different league than the other places around it. My wife and I decided to come here for our one year wedding anniversary. We went in the day before on our way back down the metro to ask about reservations for the next day. The host welcomed us kindly despite our sweaty disheveled appearance from a day on the mall (we looked and felt quite out of place in the beautiful entrance). He asked if there was an occasion and when we informed him of our anniversary he lit up and said he'd be happy to make it special for us! The next day, we came in in our best clothes we had packed looking as fresh as possible in 100% humidity after coming out of the metro. They said they had a large group coming but that several seats by the window were still available. I could not have been more pleased with our seating. We overlooked the plaza and were far enough away from the piano to easily carry conversation while enjoying the incredible pianist in full. If you've read this far I'll tell you the best part. They have a pre-theatre menu available from (I believe) 5 to 6 pm. This is a major good deal. you get an appetizer, entree, and dessert for, I want to say, 35 dollars! It was unbeatable, my wife and I ordered completely different meals and tried as many culinary delights as possible. Every single thing was amazing, the peach gazpacho was delightful, the steak and potatoes was out of this world, and the carrot cake was the best I've ever had with a delicious cream cheese frosting swirled into every bite. The candied walnuts were each perfectly flavored. We ordered a great bottle of Chardonnay and our server was incredibly on top of our glasses all evening. To top it off, they gave my wife and I each a bit of complimentary champagne after our dinner. They truly made our one year in DC very special. Thank you 701.

A friend and I came here for dinner pre-theater. The reservation was for an hour and a half before the show and we were right on time. Although seated and given menus, the waitress ignored us initially. After informing the person who asked about drinks about the show, we were able to order off the regular dinner menu. The spinach salad with watermelon radish slices, almonds and pecorino (sheep cheese) was great. The Italian style flat bread was noticeably salty. The entrees finally showed up an hour after we arrived so we felt rushed, as we did need some time to walk to the theater and pick up the tickets. The roasted Jidori chicken was flavorful and moist. The duck breast was cooked to precisely medium rare as requested and the cherry bourbon housing sauce complemented it perfectly. However the shredded Napa cabbage under the duck was also extremely salty. Although the white-tablecloth restaurant has a quiet ambiance augmented by the live piano music, too much over salted food with nothing to counter the salt does not make for a superlative meal. We did get the check in a timely manner and were able to get to the show on time.

Went for a light lunch. Kale salad was large and flavorful. Filling. Also the beet tartare was tasty and inventive the best was the Brussels sprouts. A must try. Wonderful lunch for two light delicious and wanting us to return for a more hearty meal.

Initially, the mixed reviews had me worried about coming to this place but I'm glad that I took the risk. I was looking for a great restaurant with love music and this place fit that description perfectly. Made my reservations and had a request to be seated close to the piano. I arrived a little early and was still seated and seated close to the piano. It was like having a private performance for the evening. The food was fantastic! Started with the scallops as an appetizer and then the lamb for my date while I had the rockfish. All tasty and well-prepared. Dessert was the vanilla wanna gotta and I loved it also. Lastly, the waiter was able to mix up a recipe for a drink I adored. It wasn't on the menu but ask and see of they have a "Sweet April". The staff and environment were all above expectations. The attention was perfect and all questions were answered. This place definitely gets my vote!

The atmosphere was great and the food was really good. I rated it as a 4 star as opposed to a 5 because I expected a little bit more from the food for that price, but the atmosphere was great. We loved the live jazz. We took a taxi, but if we had known about it, we would have taken advantage of the valet parking. I will definitely be returning to the restaurant the next time that I'm in D.C.
