"75 Chestnut is located on a brick-covered block that John Kerry probably lives on. It’s a little worn—and the decor is a little dated—but it still nails New England staples. After a long day of showing out-of-towners around the Common, head to this cozy spot for seafood stew brimming with shrimp and swordfish, plus a charcuterie platter made up of meats and cheeses from around New England. And, of course, tenderloin tips. 75 Chestnut’s version is marinated in chimichurri and comes with a whole mess of fries. The martinis are cold and the wines by the glass are solid—get a glass of Broadside cab to go with that steak." - tanya edwards

The restaurant has a classy yet casual atmosphere in a historic neighborhood. The waiter was excellent and our food and drinks were delivered efficiently. The fish & chips and crab cakes were all very good. They only had a few beers on tap, but the regional IPA was excellent. Would definitely recommend a visit to 75 Chestnut.

75 Chestnut won’t leave you hungry. This is a great little spot nestled in the neighborhood. Classic and refined, we went for a holiday and will definitely go again!

Google
Very busy restaurant on Chestnut Street. Ecclectic Menu. We started with a delicious, creamy, well seasoned New England Clam Chowder. Then shared a Burata Salad, drizzled with pesto sauce and accompnied by Heirloom Tomatoes and grilled peach slices with small bites of Prosciutto. For entrees we selected a Meyer Lemon Chicken Breast with arugula, rainbow potatoes with crispy pieces of guanciale. We also shared a pan seared Atlntic Cod Filet with basmati rice and broccolini. Service was on point and attentive, Overall, great evening.

Google
We went here for my Husband’s birthday about a month ago and I meant to write a review then. The food was amazing, our server was attentive and accommodating. The restaurant was able to accommodate my dairy allergy and the food was worth every bite. The only thing I would say otherwise is that the tables inside are a little close, but a crowded restaurant is to be expected when the food and the service is good.

Google
One of my favorite restaurants in Boston! The ambiance and customer service are excellent for a comfortable yet elevated dining experience. The cocktails are delicious and the large menu includes options for all kinds of eaters. Fresh and delicious ingredients- loved our salads and entrees. The outdoor dining space is lovely!

Google
Best restaurant in Boston! My family and I made this our regular spot when I was in college, and it’s still our favorite. Can’t recommend 75 Chestnut highly enough! Amazing food, cozy atmosphere, and the best staff. Love this place.

Google
Great food, quick to get in, perfect level of customer service. Highly recommend. I had the pork chop and banana pudding.

Google
Quite an enjoyable dining experience the service is solid, and the food is excellent! We largely had appetizers for dinner, and they were all well-balanced and full of flavor. Clam chowder, salad, etc. was great! Will return again.

Yelp
We came to celebrate our son's birthday. The service was fabulous! Everyone was friendly and quick to please. My filet was the best I have ever had! Amie the hostess/manager was soooo kind. I totally recommend 75 on Chesnut!

Yelp
A quaint spot to grab a casual bite in Beacon Hill. Love that it's a little off the beaten path for a quieter dining experience. Sit outside if you can! My sister and I swung by for dinner on a Saturday, and managed to snag a table outside. For drinks I went with the Beachy Strawberry Bourbon Smash, which is composed of Woodinville bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup, REAL strawberry puree, mint, and soda water. Yum! Of course I ordered a second. We wanted something more substantial than a salad for dinner, so we both went with the Flatbread Pizza ($22.9). We were able to adjust the toppings to make it plant-based--thank you for being flexible! The flatbread comes with arugula pesto, prosciutto, grilled peaches, caramelized onions, Vermont goat cheese and balsamic reduction, so we nixed the prosciutto and cheese, then added fresh arugula to the top. I enjoyed it enough, although the crust could have been a little more tender, and the peaches a tad sweeter. Service was decent and overall this was a very pleasant dining experience. I'd come back for a cocktail, and perhaps a salad for a lighter meal.

Yelp
Pretty good. Excellent service, decent food that won't blow you away. We had a the Mediterranean plate and two salads. Warm bread brought to the table (it's amazing how such a small thing can really elevate a restaurant) Salads were decent, nothing noteworthy, the lettuce could be chopped a bit more thoroughly. Large leafs of lettuce were a bit challenging to eat without making a mess. Med plate was very good - would get again Fun lunch spot in a great area.

Sandy M.

Yelp
Great little brunch spot. Quiet and out of the way in a sweet little neighborhood. Kind of congested and limited parking. Staff was very nice and not pretentious. We had three in our party. We all enjoyed our food. Crabcakes could have been crispier. But they were tasty. My husband enjoyed his steak bowl with a generous portion of steak. Polenta fries were crispy and delicious. Would recommend this place for sure.

Yelp
So happy to have found this restaurant while staying in Beacon Hill. It's located on a cute residential street. This is the only restaurant on this block. It's a quiet location with very little street traffic. We chose to sit outside on a beautiful night. The staff is so friendly. We had a child with us and asked for his food first. They were wonderful to accommodate us. The menu is so expansive with wonderful seasonal offerings. It was hard to decide on what to order but we kept it basic. I had an Aperol to start and it was so refreshing. I ordered the Meyer lemon chicken and hubs had the beef tenderloin au poivre. My husband is a butcher and very picky about his meat. He said this was one of the best cuts he's had at a restaurant. This man devoured his meal! My Meyer lemon chicken was just divine. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the flavors incredible. It came with baby potatoes and string beans that were just cooked and salted perfectly. Pricing in my opinion was very reasonable. Not expensive at all. I'd love to come back and try some other things on their menu!

Yelp
Food: Crab Cakes ($24) - solid quality, nice that there were not any shell bits in there, roasted red pepper coulis and chipotle aioli sauce on the side was a nice combo of savory and spicy to complement the crab cakes, cucumber salad on the side was a refreshing way to complement the crab cakes as well Stuffed French Toast with raspberry preserves ($20)- pretty good, good amount of tasty raspberry preserves in there along with the mascarpone cheese, toast could've been a bit fluffier though, bacon on the side was normal but a bit too crispy for me Atmosphere: Classic American restaurant vibes with a bar area and decent amount of other table seating, pretty nice space Service: Okay service speed, pretty friendly waiter, no wait for a weekend brunch Overall: Pretty good American brunch spot, slightly on the pricier side but not bad

Jonathan E.

Yelp
The staff were very friendly and helpful, we enjoyed the summer three course dinner special, and the food was excellent

Sarah H.

Yelp
I want to love this neighborhood spot, but it's just so overpriced and underwhelming. The food is good, but nothing special. Menu is too long - they need to pick fewer options so they can execute better. Cocktails menu is not inspiring.

Yelp
One of Bostons hidden gems! Located just off of the Boston Commons, 75 Chestnut is a go-to! Easy to walk from the Charles River Esplanade, or take the T and walk over. Parking my be difficult, as it is located in a smaller back street in a busy area - but trust me, it's worth it! We made a reservation for Sunday brunch the morning of. Quick sit-down time. I love a good Sunday brunch and they did not disappoint! Went for a classic American Breakfast with eggs and an English muffin, delicious! Chicken and waffles would probably be my go-to next time. The brunch menu had both breakfast and lunch with a variety of drinks. A pet-peeve of mine is when restaurants don't serve espresso - but 75 Chestnut had a great cappuccino. The decor was fall-themed. It's a quaint, local spot that I would highly recommend for anyone coming to visit Boston. Service is fast, reservations are easy to make. Love it!

Tania S.

Yelp
This is a darling restaurant! We were actually on a business dinner, but I would also highly recommend for a date or night with friends - very cosy with awesome ambiance. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. The food was fab! And the pre-fixe meal was delicious and great value for money. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Sat outside and had an excellent meal in a beautiful Bostonian setting First visit won't be my last!

Yelp
75 Chestnut is a friendly neighborhood establishment that you'll want to keep in your rotation of solid Boston dining options. Over the years, I've visited this charming spot a few times, most recently enjoying dinner with my wife and another couple. Dinner highlights: Truffle polenta fries (appetizer): Absolutely delicious, served with two distinct dipping sauces for added flavor. Pan-seared Atlantic Cod fillet: A perfectly cooked dish featuring fresh herbs, an abundance of accompanying vegetables such as roasted potatoes and cherry tomatoes. Nantucket seafood stew: While I didn't personally taste this dish, our dining companions mentioned it was a bit bland and could use more seasoning. Meyer lemon chicken breast: I didn't try this one either, but it received rave reviews from our friends and was devoured quickly. Desserts: Crème Brûlée Collection: A unique and amazing experience with three different flavors - chocolate, lemon, and classic custard. Highly recommended! Molten Chocolate Cake: Unfortunately, the molten chocolate center was missing, leaving us with just a very hot cake. While still tasty, it was a bit of a letdown for a chocoholic like myself. Drinks: We accompanied our meal with a bottle of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, which was very good. In summary, our dining experience was great overall, despite a few minor missteps (the seafood stew and the molten chocolate cake). Don't hesitate to give this Beacon Hill gem a try!

Yelp
The food was alright, but ambiance is great. I had the quinoa bowl and everything was just too cold. It would've been a more pleasure to eat if there were some warm ingredients in the bowl. Also their salad add-on pricing makes no sense. Adding chicken to the caesar salad is the same price as the salad itself; so you end up paying the same price as an expensive entree by ordering chicken caesar salad.

Donna M.

Yelp
So a warm, inviting interior. The staff is exceptionally attentive and friendly. The food was so delicious that nothing was left on the plate. Reasonably priced. It was the highlight of our stay in Boston.

Chris M.

Yelp
A small restaurant found in beautiful Beacon Hill. The place is nicely decorated and very cozy. Food and service is outstanding. I really can't say enough about the. Menu and the quality of the food served. Also, I thought the prices were very reasonable.

Debbie S.

Yelp
Love this place! If you have never been, go! Whenever I'm in Boston, wow is this a favorite! Gorgeous flowers if you sit outside, and the food quality is always outstanding. Loved: Polenta fries Flatbread - loaded with fun flavors like pea purée and prosciutto Seafood stew - beautiful flavors and delicate seafood Cod - melt in your mouth Chocolate lava cake - no molten oozing filling unfortunately, but was super yummy

Yelp
A nice place to treat yourself in Beacon Hill! Came with a group of 6 on a Tuesday night. Menu wasn't overwhelming yet I still found myself struggling to choose as everything looked really good. The dinner menu is more seafood forward, which is nice. - Mediterranean platter - wonderful platter of hummus, artichoke, olives, feta (my favorite part), and some other veggies. However, there are only 5 large pita chips so the ratio of chip to dip/toppings was off and it wasn't the most optimal for sharing. - Lobster gnocchi - delicious! Big chunks of lobster meat with pumpkin, spinach, and plain gnocchi. A decadent layer of oil at the bottom. - Service - pretty good. I quite enjoyed the wine recommendation from our waitress. They were sure to bring out the appetizer sooner than the entrees and all the entrees came out at the same time. Felt that the entrees took a while though. - Ambience - very cozy and tucked away. Almost feels secret and mysterious as the name of the restaurant is literally just its address. Charming architecture and appropriately and tastefully decorated with gourds, pumpkins, and other fall decor for the season.

Samantha J.

Yelp
75 Chestnut was really good! We sat at the bar for drinks and some sharable plates. The service was great here! Between the 3 of us, we shared 2 platters: the Mediterranean Platter & New England Charcuterie Platter. These were especially great for a group with different food/diet restrictions. I personally loved the Mediterranean Platter the most. The caponata, 1 part of this platter was super flavorful, a little acidic which is my vibe. Eggplant is hit or miss for people but this was done so well you don't even know its eggplant. I also had the sangria which was a bit sweet for me but I squeezed a little of lime and it was perfect!

Katie W.

Yelp
Very cozy and cute spot in Beacon Hill. I had the lobster spaghetti which was a big portion and quite good. Friends I was with had the crab cakes, the salmon, the seasonal peach salad and the Bibb salad - all got excellent reviews. Our server was attentive and efficient - it certainly wasn't a rushed meal, but the service was great.

Emma T.

Yelp
75 didn't disappoint. Came here on Wednesday and decided to go for the wine Wednesday special. You got to chose a soup or salad, between 3 delicious looking entrees (salmon, seafood pasta, pumpkin ravioli) and 2 glasses of wine for $39. This was a sweet deal that I couldn't pass up. The pasta tasted fresh and the seafood was very good. The salad was a nice starter and addition to the meal. Good service and overall good vibe

Yelp
On my latest trip to Boston we decided to eat here for breakfast one weekend morning. We initially had lunch reservations but last minute wanted to change it to breakfast when they first opened. The lady at the front who handled this over the phone was very friendly and professional. She let me know if any no shows didn't make it or they had spaces they would confirm that we could come in for breakfast. Well she called back and everything worked out fine. The breakfast menu here is extensive. We all had great service and enjoyed the early morning cocktails. The Fig Manhattan was so good! My steak and eggs was cooked to my liking and filling. Others in my party had the clam chowder and classic 75 omelet. Everyone enjoyed their food and cocktails. We were seating right near the window and could see outside on Chestnut. Beautiful restaurant. Will definitely be back on my next visit to Boston.

Haley E.

Yelp
Super cute place near the commons. We went for brunch and everything was super good. There's also a cute patio outside of the weather is nice.

Gwen S.

Yelp
I made a reservation two days before for a Saturday night dinner for 2. 75 Chestnut is downtown in the middle of everything, yet it feels secluded and almost hidden on a side street. I love the coziness and Beacon Hill charm that it has. Only downsides are the big tvs which take away from the ambiance, especially as it gets dark outside. I guess its 2023 and I have to live with it. I got the steak and avocado salad and it was so fresh and flavorful. I usually don't like raw tomatoes but these were too good for me to pick out. I had enough for lunch leftovers the next day. The menu was broad and multiple things caught me eye so I would absolutely come back. It is a nice restaurant but not too fancy/pinkies up, which I like since it makes it perfect for a decent meal without breaking the bank $$.

Kasey K.

Yelp
This place is great. A perfect neighborhood spot with consistently good food. Everything I've had here has been excellent. It's become our go to spot for before theatre dinner.

Wendy L.

Yelp
I dined at 75 Chestnut in Boston with 3 of my coworkers. We were in town for a business trip. 75 Chestnut not only had curb appeal but the interior looked really cozy and inviting when we visited this restaurant in January 2019. Right away, we were seated near the bar at the table next to the front windows. We each placed orders for our drinks. I can't remember what I initially wanted to order because, that evening, they had run out of that item. Instead, I settled for their Herb-Crusted Atlantic Cod. To my surprise, this became my favorite meal in Boston! It was amazing! The cod was tender and moist, the veggies were sweet with freshness, and the herb crust rounded out the entire dish. We had a great dining experience that night and the staff was great! I wouldn't mind coming back on my next visit to Boston.

Lynne C.

Yelp
We brought a large group to 57 Chestnut to celebrate a high school graduation. The wait staff was impeccable and the food was fresh and delicious. The hungry teenagers loved the large portions! I will definitely be returning for future spacial occasions!

Sally E.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in the city. After living in beacon hill during college, and all around the city, MA, and New England since, this is place above all feels like a second home for a nice night out. The staff is top notch and the environment is perfectly cozy. It may be small - but it is mighty!

Tracy K.

Yelp
First time at 75 Chestnut and I could not have enjoyed myself more. Delightful outdoor dining atmosphere. Ordered the cod - beautiful presentation and absolutely fresh and delicious. I will definitely be back!

Selene R.

Yelp
The food was so tasty ! so much flavor . Drinks were amazing ! Our server was so attentive, polite, and friendly her name was Eliana make sure to ask for her when you stop by ! I can tell all her tables loved her, we definitely did !

Sheldon T.

Yelp
Excellent server. She knew the menu & was friendly Burt not overbearing. Cozy atmosphere. Excellent martini. Mussels & Mantucket stew were very good as was Caesar salad & crab cakes. Loved banan pudding

Gabriella R.

Yelp
75 Chestnut is a great neighborhood spot for drinks and food! We went for dessert and clam chowder, and both were very delicious. The lava cake was not as gooey in the center as we expected, but the flavor was still amazing. If I go back I will definitely be starting with the chowder.

Liza V.

Yelp
We were excited about Sunday Supper at 75, and were generally very disappointed. We had reservations, and waited 8 minutes stuffed in the front doorway after our reservation time before anyone acknowledged us (a group of 6, whom everyone had to push through to access the bar side). The food was completely underwhelming. All together we ordered: chowder, Caesar salad, glazed salmon, lobster gnocchi, seafood pasta special, and chicken fettuccine, chocolate chip cookie, and moletm chocolate cake, bottle of sauv blanc. Nothing was seasoned adequately. Scallops were rubbery. Cookie was soup. There was no lava. Truly a bummer of an experience for a decently pricey night out. At least the wine was good.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Leaving this place, I knew I needed to leave a review! Impromptu, i made a reservation about 2 hours before, not even knowing their special that was happening! To my surprise they had a lovely Wine Wednesday special. One starter, one entree and 2 glasses of wine for $39 pp. I was interested in nearly everything on the special's menu, but landed with the chardonnay (which usually im a pinot grigio girl, but this was nice and sweet!), coconut shrimp (as per the recommendation of the bartender), and the schnitzel. Im not usually one to finish a meal, i love leftovers, but this... i finished it! It was so delicious. The sauce served with the coconut shrimp was just spicy enough. The apple brandy on the perfectly crisped schnitzel, delectable. The veggies and pretzel served with that as well were such a nice treat as sides. I was enjoying my book, so decided to order an espresso martini after finishing my meal. I am a self proclaimed espresso martini connoisseur, and this one is probably the best i've had in Boston since moving here 3 months ago. The service was great here, i witnessed the hostess clearing, serving, and taking orders which i think is just great, she's a team player for sure! One last thing to note, im usually not noticing this, but, the playlist was great! Natalie Cole, Fleetwood Mac, Lionel Richie. Kudos to whoever made the playlist! Thank you! I will definitely be back!

Laura H.

Yelp
Cosy Vibe, quiet and off the beaten track in Beacon Hill. Great burgers, nice wine selection, attentive service.

Stephanie V.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and delicious food. Friendly stuff. We had a table outside and enjoyed the warm summer night. We will come back.

Ann Marie S.

Yelp
Everything about this quaint, un-pretentious, neighborhood gem that is right in the middle of it all is perfect. We were back in town for the holiday and with a night in the city, we wanted somewhere upscale enough to feel like date night, but casual enough to not "over do it". We're so happy we dined here (again) after a long hiatus. Our server gave us space to enjoy our meal, yet was attentive at the same time. The wine prices are not outrageously marked up. We opted to split a "starter" portion of the caesar salad which was the perfect amount for two. When we asked our server which she would recommend, she was honest and said that the larger portion would be too much if we were each getting our own entrees. She was right. I chose the veal osso buco which was a special for the evening, and I could eat it ten times over. The veal was cooked so perfectly, a fork did the job alone. Flavors were well balanced, and the mashed potatoes and asparagus were all done well. Still thinking about it. Hubs had the pumpkin ravioli that were cooked al dente, packed enough flavor and were a favorite. The vodka sauce was an interesting accompaniment for the ravioli, but the flavors were a good compliment. He wasn't mad about it. If you order the chocolate lava cake, make sure there's more than two of you. The portion is generous, and the cake is rich. This will be a spot we will come back to when we're in the city!

Brian A.

Yelp
Very nice last minute find for my wife and me. Restaurant has a lot of character. Service was very good as was the food.

Derek P.

Yelp
We were struggling to find an open brunch spot, and saw that 75 Chestnut had availability late on a Saturday morning. The food was incredible and the waiter was just as great. I ordered the lobster toast, which was perhaps the best lobster breakfast I have ever had. The coffee was also delicious. Our waiter was very kind and attentive. There was also many open tables, which is a contrast compared to the brunch spots over on Charles Street. Great experience, would 100% return.

Rhys G.

Yelp
A lovely spot in Beacon Hill. It is on an off street out of the way from everything else which is nice and cozy. The service was very fast and they were very nice. The food was also excellent. We went for Sunday brunch, and I will definitely be returning for the savory waffles next time! Also would love to try something else.

Annie D.

Yelp
Very cute and cozy. Great staff. Pretty great food. Salmon was delicious. Cobb salad was good but the dressing was a bit off tasting. Crab cakes very good but it was an appetizer size... even served on a tiny plate. Would have been excellent were the size a normal entree portion. Left hungry!

Aaron C.

Yelp
My wife and I were in Boston for a quick anniversary trip. After a long day of walking around and viewing all the city has to offer, we needed some dinner. 75 Chestnut was within walking distance of the hotel and their reservation system had an available table. This is a cute little place nestled on a residential street. If we lived close by, I'm sure we would consider this a regular hangout. It's not vert big, but service was excellent and the warm, fresh tasting meal hit the spot on a chilly October evening.

Stacy A.

Yelp
This restaurant is definitely a favorite for locals. It offers outdoor seating, great cocktails, and absolutely delicious food. The staff was all super nice as well. If you go, make sure to get the Pineapple Elderflower Cosmo. Yum!

Kendall D.

Yelp
Stopped in for brunch and had a great meal! The plating doesn't make the food look very good but it tastes a lot better than it looks! The vibe is traditional and classy, fitting with its location on Beacon Hill. The lobster toast was very tasty and filling, and personally I loved the combo of lobster and avocado. The chicken sausage hash wasn't incredibly memorable but it was good! The hollandaise sauce was awesome as well!

FJ D.

Yelp
Stopped in Sunday evening for a quick dinner expecting few diners. Not the case. The place was jammed and we had no reservation. The manager, Jeff, was amazing. He found us a great table in the bar area and although he was very busy managing a full house made us feel welcome and appreciated. The food was great and our server was professional, friendly and efficient. We will definitely return primarily because Jeff made us feel so special. A rare treat these days.

Samantha S.

Yelp
We made a reservation three months prior to coming from out of town. It was Easter Sunday and to prepare for the Boston marathon we were referred to here. The staff was direct and anytime we asked for something it felt like an inconvenience. We brought 11 people, which is a lot but they had a big notice with our reservation. We felt rushed with staff wanting to take our plates before finished and there were expressions made by staff that was unprofessional towards my family. The food was good but out of everywhere we could have gone I was bummed by how my family was not embraced.

Carrie J.

Yelp
I would leave this as a 3.5 star if I could because this place was just hit or miss amongst our party. I ordered the cod with pea purée, olive tapenade and vegetables. Everything was just a little too cold and not really hot like I would expect for a nice charred looking veggie. The other people I was with really liked their dishes, though. My boyfriend said the lamb was delicious!

Sol R.

Yelp
Great ambiance! We stumbled in without a reservation and got seated right away. We took advantage of Wine Wednesday to get a 2 course meal and 2 glasses of wine each. Excellent experience! Good deal (for downtown Boston) and great service

Luanna B.

Yelp
We had dinner with friends. Everyone's meal was delicious. My duck was so tender and tasty I was wishing I had some left over to take home.

Keeley F.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is so great. The place has a bar area to sit if you don't have a reservation. Quick service and amazing food. I got the lobster pasta and it was a 10/10!
