"Ode to Babel is a Prospect Heights cocktail bar that feels more like a neighborhood clubhouse. They usually host events here that involve live music, and when you stop by for a drink there might be a DJ. The new curbside patio here is huge, so stop by whenever you need some shaved ice, a slushy, or a summery cocktail. Ode To Babel is open from 4 to 11pm, Thursday through Sunday." - nikko duren
"Ode to Babel looks like your living room if your living room had a bar. It’s a little hybrid shop/venue/lounge, and it’s a sleeper candidate for the best first-date spot in the neighborhood. There might be a DJ (naturally) playing some good music in the corner, but there won’t be a ton of people shouting at one another. There are also a few nice couches, a couple of tables, and they host live music some nights." - bryan kim
"Ode to Babel looks like your living room if your living room had a bar, and it’s a sleeper candidate for the best first-date spot in Prospect Heights. It also doubles as a music venue and tasting room/shop for the owners’ company Babel Spirits, through which they sell an excellent gin distilled in Greenpoint. There are a few nice couches to chill on, and you might catch some live music or a DJ in the corner, but there won’t be a ton of people shouting at one another. The team also has another bar and lounge called the Babel Loft in the works, check their IG for updates. " - Neha Talreja, Bryan Kim, Hannah Albertine
"Ode to Babel looks like your living room if your living room had wooden banquettes and a fully-stocked bar. But it’s actually a lounge in Prospect Heights, where you might hear a DJ playing a very good vinyl set involving songs you’d also hear on the Boogie Nights soundtrack. Plus there’s a little backyard with yellow benches and shapely patio chairs that make it the perfect spot for having an actual IRL conversation with a stranger." - hannah albertine, nikko duren
"This little spot in Prospect Heights looks almost exactly like a living room that happens to have a bar in the corner, and it’s perfect for when you just need a relatively quiet place to drink with an almost-friend. It’s one of our favorite bars in the area, and there will be absolutely zero people here taking shots and singing along to Toto’s “Africa.”" - bryan kim
