I recently celebrated my graduation at a steakhouse in McLean, and while it had some cute touches, the overall experience didn’t quite live up to what I expected for the price. The decor was adorable, with congratulations confetti on our table and cute ribbons wrapped around the menus, creating a festive atmosphere for the occasion.
Unfortunately, things got off to a rocky start with our first round of Long Island drinks. They were absolutely terrible, so I had to flag down the manager to have them remade. The second round was definitely better, and I appreciated the manager's commitment to making things right.
As we finished our appetizers, I had to chase down the server because my oysters hadn’t arrived yet, which was pretty disappointing since they should've come out first. The manager was nice enough to waive the price for them due to the delay, but while the server was super friendly, the service itself felt a bit lacking. The Long Island drinks should’ve been simple to make, and oysters should have come out faster. There were just some small discrepancies that impacted the experience overall.
On the bright side, the steaks were really good; everyone found them flavorful. Plus, one of the staff at the door even offered to hold our graduation cupcakes and serve them later, which was a thoughtful touch.
Still, for the amount we paid, I expected a better overall experience. We chose to go to McLean instead of staying in DC, hoping for a swifter service, but it didn’t turn out that way. While management did start checking on us later, I felt that the service we experienced didn’t match the premium price.
It’s cold also so bring your jacket.
