hard to decide where to start..?!
the place, the food, the atmosphere, the vibe and almost everything else is as far from a True Michelin establishment as Kapolcs is from Paris...or perhaps New York City is a more appropriate mention, for the sake of emphasizing distance...
...also, for the faint hearted, I am the person who always says what other people think.
the place is nice, and that's the good part, now comes the rest, except for the 100 degree temperature inside, flies and no air conditioning, extremely cold welcome, especially from the person that we believe was the owner/manager, no smile, no greetings at all, except a cold hi, the staff dress code was somewhere between a factory line worker and a train conductor, simply inappropriate, before even seated, a dog came by to say hi, at least she/he was friendly, now let's get to the nitty gritty as they say, or the essentials in other words...all tables had no set ups, completely empty, strange, the least to say, no placemats, no coverings, no place settings...zero, nada, eventually, they did bring some .99 cent plates from IKEA, same "quality" silverware, I suspect also from IKEA, but no service, simply served on a plate…? we decided to order drinks and food...what a mistake, complete disappointment, besides the cold sparkling water, all else was blah...the wine, like a "two-buck chuck" plonk from the old days, items on the menu not available, the dish labeled "foie gras mousse"...so, it was only the label, zero essence, tasteless, actually quite remarkable how off it was, the salad, like a cheap take-out salad, no taste at all, and what really just knocked my socks off, they used the cheapest lettuce on planet earth...wow, are you Listening Michelin Guide...?...no salt/pepper on the table, no service at all after serving the dishes, not a sound...nothing at all, the Petit Provence was an even bigger joke, actually an insult, some tasteless crap, I am convinced that the cheese was a cheap no brand from Metro (and some cheap salty ham, the rest I don't even want to remember...oh, the menu mentions cheeses, and different types of ham in "plural", well, we only got one type, the crap type...now, to have the audacity to add a 15% service charge after inflicting all that pain, should be a felony…
just as one of my great Chef (REAL Chef) friends from the US says: "This food is so bad, it's actively trying to escape my mouth."
I did have an "aha" moment when we arrived, I was lamenting, since we are in year 2025 and the 2024 Michelin sign next to the other two from 2022/2023 is "MISSING"...I was wondering why would that be...?...unfortunately, I found out...!
To be fair:
this is not a "singled out" review, I am someone who is a culinary professional with 35 years of experience, on every level of the culinary ladder, I treat everyone the same in my reviews, everywhere on this planet, and I hold everyone to the same high standard I was held when I was still working in the kitchen, and even more so when you have the red colored "Michelin plaque" attached to your establishment. In this case I believe is time for these signs to be removed.
best of luck,
