88 Coffee Company - Review - NOHO - New York - The Infatuation

"88 Coffee Company in outdoor food hall Bowery Market is the first permanent location for the  Vietnamese coffee roaster that pops up at Smorgasburg on the weekends. They sell coffee drinks like a caramel baklava latte, as well as bánh mì. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

Google
My go-to spot for fresh Vietnamese iced coffee and ground beans. I got to meet the couple-owners that owns and runs the place during their soft launch. They’re one of the most humble and kindest people I’ve met. They’re very passionate about their and representing true Vietnamese coffee and cuisine.

Google
THE BEST viet coffee & banh mi in NYC!! I wish they were there when I lived there, now I have a long commute to get them but will gladly do so! The banh mi is super fresh & the bread is EXACTLY how viet banh mi should be, light, crunchy & airy. We love all the 3 banh mis, so we get all 3 every time. The price is great for the high quality & the banh mi size, especially for NYC pricing. The staff & owners are very friendly, considerate, hardworking & customer oriented. Highly recommend their normal viet coffee & salted cold foam! Their non-coffee beverages like matcha is amazing too. Can’t go wrong with any of the options they have. They have multiple locations, we visited their World Trade Center one too. A must-visit whenever you’re in NYC! Also, did I mention they are dog-friendly? They loved our puppy & offered to give him water!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the matcha coco! I’ve tried so many different ones but this one def topped it! Highly recommend! The chicken bahn mi was moist and had a good flavor. I do like the 88 special bahn mi but I think the chicken stole the show for me. The thicker cuts of the daikon carrots added an extra crunch to the sandwich. The ube cold foam had a thicker consistency which fits well with the Vietnamese coffee. I would say the coffee is slightly on the bitter side but it’s delicious. The store is small and there’s about 2-3 chairs in the back where you can sit. I would recommend taking it to-go.

Google
Food was mediocre. Definitely better Vietnamese coffee and sandwiches elsewhere. The coffee I got was an old batch and you can taste it wasn’t fresh. And then when the new batch was made, the employee married the old and new together. No thanks. The banh mi was long but flat as a panini. Didn’t taste any pate or see any, and the overall taste was just kinda bland. The worker there was clueless to all the people stopping by as I saw a few people come and leave. I had to grab the worker’s attention just to order. Was disappointed because I really wanted to be excited for this one. Go to Chinatown instead.

Google
I was really disappointed with my visit here. The banh mi tasted bland, they were out of pâté, and the sandwich felt flat overall. For $13, I expected much better quality and flavor. On top of that, the staff seemed indifferent and not very welcoming to customers. Definitely not worth the price.

Google
Best banh mi i’ve ever had!! And i’ve lived in NYC for 13 years. The ingredients are super fresh and sandwich construction is incredible. A perfect delicious bite every time!

Google
DELICIOUS Vietnamese coffee!!!!! It's SUPER strong but balanced with just the right amount of condensed milk so that it's not overly sweet. Staff are super friendly :)

Yelp
I'm obsessed with this little Vietnamese coffee spot! For one, their menu is awesome and the best thing about ordering from here is you can't go wrong. I love their different matcha and ube drinks available. The most recent time I came here was to their booth at Williamsburg Smorgasburg. I ordered their Matcha Coco, as I was in the mood for something hydrating. I highly recommend this refreshing drink! They make the matcha cold-foam right there and give a generous amount, so be prepared to stir it in. I think this drink lasted me all of 15 seconds before it was empty!! Not because of the serving size, but because it was so dang good I couldn't help but gulp it all down.

Yelp
Anytime I'm in the SoHo area, this is now going to be my go-to spot for a caffeine pick-me-up and delicious Vietnamese sandwich snack or lunch. The Ube Cold-Foam is unreal. From the frothy sweet ube cream to the slightly bitter strong coffee, the flavors blend so well. The Matcha Coco is also super refreshing and has a nice creamy matcha foam on top of tropical coconut water. The 88 Special and Shredded Chicken banh mis are both really yummy. The chicken was moist and juicy and the cold cuts were fresh and meaty. The bread was soft and crunchy at the same time; no complaints. The business owner was super sweet and I could see how passionate she is about her work, so stop by when you have the chance!

Yelp
We tried 88 Coffee at the Williamsburg Smorgasburg, so we were excited to learn that a new 88 Coffee location opened in the Bowery Market that serves their signature drinks and bánh mì. We arrived as they were opening on Saturday at 11am. It's possible they are still working through some logistics after their initial soft launch, but it was a little disappointing they were sold out of some of their drinks (Matcha Mia Refresher) and they didn't have any pâté for the 88 Special bánh mì. We enjoyed their Matcha Coco and Classic drinks. The Classic (Vietnamese iced coffee) is not too sweet and has a nice dark chocolate undertone flavor to the coffee. The Matcha Coco is refreshing with coconut water and a sweet matcha cream foam. It's a nice change from your standard iced matcha lattes around the city. We both tried their 88 Special (all the works) sans the pâté since they didn't have any that day. In terms of bánh mì options in NYC, I would say it's a pretty standard. The bread was okay, filling was decent, but we both felt it was missing some flavor. I added chin su (hot sauce) to mine and it helped cut through the fattiness of the pork belly. It's great to see them expand and to see another Vietnamese small business in Manhattan. Hopefully they'll offer a vegetarian bánh mì in the future. Overall, I would come back in the future.
