"This giant supermarket and food court has two signs out front, and neither of them use its actual name. But whether you call it Food Connection (because that’s what it says on the awning), Super 88 (because that’s what’s on the huge billboard that you can see halfway down Comm Ave in Allston), or Hong Kong Supermarket, because you’re an annoying pedant who looked up its actual name, you’ll find a lot of really good, really affordable Asian food stalls here. The best deals may be at Pho Viets, where a huge banh mi costs just $5.65." - dan secatore

"Super 88 is an Asian food court and grocery store in Allston. A lot of the stalls seem to change hands and come and go every couple of years, but you can always count on finding a good meal here without spending a lot of money. Pho Viets is one of the standard-bearers, and it’s a great option for big, cheap banh mi." - Dan Secatore

I came here years ago as my go-to spot for dinner, but now this place is a shell of its former glory. The restaurants inside are ok, a lot of chain/franchises, and you’ll find a good variety of cuisines such as Poke, Mochi Donuts, Mala, and Boba. The food wasn’t as good as I remembered, and the atmosphere doesn’t seem as sanitary as it could be. The one big problem with the place seems to be the hours. We went during a prime dinner hour, and only 1 restaurant was open. The others all looked like they had been abandoned, with no signs of staff or cooking. Granted, this was a weekday, but I would’ve expected at least more restaurants to be open. I used to love this place but I probably will never come back here unless something changes. There’s a lot more food halls opening up in the area and without change, I’d rather go somewhere else.

It was 4th of july weekend when we visited so that may explain the limited choices as far as which kiosks were open, but it was maybe 4 open and obvious ac condensation issues with wet spots coming from the ceiling. We used to live in the area a little over 20 yrs ago, and stopped in for the nostalgia of it. Sometimes your memories should just stay memories.

I went to like 3 different places at the same time. Very good food very cheap but some restaurants lacked in hygiene while others were phenomenal

I really appreciate a food court out here in Brighton/Allston, especially one with local shops and a variety of cuisines. Signage is helpful and I appreciate how many of the businesses are using digital tools like ordering tablets to help bridge language gaps. The building has seen better days but the tables are always clean; it offers a lot of options for seating, both large tables for groups and quiet side tables for eating alone. I would like if there were temporary signs on the vacant locations just saying that they're closed & looking for new occupants, because they just look abandoned right now.

Great go to food location. Now they have a type of food to choose from. Chinese, Fried Chicken, Vietnamese, Korean Corn dog and mochi donuts, poke bowls. Oh I almost forgot. There's also a bubble tea place. You can really have a 3 course meal there. Highly recommend trying if you're in the area. The prices is great too

I wonder why it's not always packed. It usually has moderate traffic which is great for distanced, unmasked eating. Although I mostly find English menu boards at their restaurants, two restaurants' menu boards are in characters, so I chose the one of two that also had the exact prices posted. Although I liked the food, my rating is for the food court as a whole as there are other restaurants to try there, like TKK Chicken and is it Kimichipapi? It's kept clean.

Quite a variety of Asian food. Some good some ok. My sense is, however, that it is a bit overpriced and that the seemingly better and generally cleaner settings compared to their competitors is their advantage

I had Pork and Scallion buns from one of the stalls and they were SO good. Freshly made and still warm.
