Visited 8th Street Winecellar for happy hour on Saturday night. Delicious food, excellent wine, fantastic prices, and exactly the vibe you hope for when sipping on wine.
Quality: Decided to take advantage of a final happy hour before city restrictions set-in, so visited the wonderful 8th Street Winecellar. They had a solid list of wine bottles with happy hour pricing, of which we indulged in two. And as we enjoyed our wine, we also snacked on the Deviled Eggs and the Meat And Cheese Board. Both perfect dishes to share. The Deviled Eggs were extremely creamy and had a little piece of crispy prosciutto placed on top. The Meat And Cheese Board was a diverse selection of cheeses, meats, pate, and accoutrements. Perfect to play with as you enjoy some wine.
Quantity: The Meat And Cheese Board was impressive, and the affordable wines are easy to keep flowing.
Value: $9 for the Deviled Eggs. $28 for the Meat And Cheese Board. $26 for a selection of Wine Bottles during happy hour.
Ambiance: 8th Street Winecellar is located in Greenwich Village, just two blocks from Washington Square Park. The name is accurate, as it is very much a basement bar. And while you may hesitate upon first look, definitely take that journey downstairs, as the space is ideal. With a long bar on the right, a small kitchen on the left, and plenty of cozy spots to sit, it is everything you need for a fun evening. Candles flickered on every table, the music was a great mix of relaxing jazz, and even as it filled up, the bar maintained its laid back vibe.
Crowd: Quiet during happy hour, but folks poured in later on what many knew would be the last true Saturday for some time.
Service: Extremely friendly bartender. She made sure to take good care of us while also taking social distancing precautions.
Parking: Very limited street parking in the area.
