9292 Korean BBQ is my kids’ absolute favorite — a must-visit every time they come home. This was our first time joining them, and here’s our honest impression.
We decided to order à la carte for the better cuts of meat, along with the prix fixe menu for five. Although we were six people, our waiter assured us the portions would be enough, and he was absolutely right.
Service:
Our waiter was outstanding. He was juggling multiple tables, cooking, clearing, and managing an endless stream of dishes — all with a great attitude. He truly felt like a one-man marathon. The only downside was the table itself; it was far too small for six people, and we were definitely cramped.
Food:
The meats were high quality and the sauces were flavorful.
The banchan, however, were a mixed bag. The purple radish was my favorite, bright and delicious. The macaroni-and-corn salad was “meh,” and the rest were average — we’ve had more impressive banchan at other Korean restaurants.
Management Interaction:
A disappointing moment came at the end of the meal. When I greeted the manager, Yohan, with a friendly “Hi Yohan,” his response was, “Do you know me?” — not the warmest greeting. He stopped by our table just as the last dish arrived: five shrimp for six guests. We joked about who would get the extra, expecting perhaps a quick offer to bring one more, especially with a bill over $250. Instead, he said, “The youngest doesn’t get one!”
It was meant as humor, I suppose, but it came off as dismissive and unprofessional.
Overall:
Great meats, solid service from our hardworking waiter, cramped seating, average banchan, and a manager who could use a bit more tact. My kids still love it, but for us, the experience was mixed.
