9292 Shabu - Review - Duluth - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"With a sprawling buffet, Duluth’s 9292 is the Disney World of hot pot. Customizations start with a half-dozen broth choices like dashi, spicy mala, and beef bone (the rich and tangy tomato broth is our favorite). For the meat options, go with AYCE or a la carte (sign us up for the unlimited ribeye). And this Japanese shabu-shabu gives you individual pots, so you can get as unhinged as you want at the buffet with fermented veggies, inari, rice cakes, japchae, and other options that’ll stretch the scoop of what you think of hot pot. It’s cliche to say “save room for dessert,” but there will be soft serve ice cream and sweet bingsu waiting on you when you’re finished." - Candy Hom

Google
I tried the Combo B all-you-can-eat option ($37.99 per person) and it was quite good! The portions were generous and the variety made it fun to try different things. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and it felt like a good value for the price😋 The atmosphere was casual and relaxed, making it an easy spot to enjoy a big meal with friends. Overall, a satisfying experience. I’d definitely come back when I’m craving all-you-can-eat 🔥

Google
The 9292 shabu-shabu buffet had a great variety of options, fresh vegetables, ham, dumplings, noodles, and more. While waiting for the shabu-shabu to cook, you can also enjoy a wide range of ready-to-eat dishes like tteokbokki, pumpkin porridge, red bean porridge, fried rice, and kimchi. For dessert, they even have patbingsu (shaved ice with red beans), ice cream, and coffee, which was a nice way to finish the meal.

First time visiting and we were very pleasantly surprised at the amazing service, atmosphere and food options!!! Also delicious desserts to enjoy. Our server Eunju is so sweet, kind and welcoming. Highly recommend visiting!!!

Google
The atmosphere is warm and cozy! The moment you walk in, the rich aroma and smoky scent coming from the broth greet you right away. I love the wide variety of options at the cold bar—so many fresh vegetables, dumplings, sauces, and more. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
This is my favorite shabu ayce spot, their buffet selection is huge, lots of veggie, noodle, fishcakes, and korean hot dishes. My favorite thing is the cute bear broth ice.

Google
This is a great, all-you-can-eat buffett shabu (hotpot) restaurant. They have a wide selection of raw vegetables to choose from, and unlimited meat option is also available for additional price. Also, not everything is raw. As shown on one of the pictures, I spotted a small selection of precooked meals. They also intoduced bingsu (desert) at no additonal cost. As a buffet, you do have to flag down a staff at times, a minor inconvenience to be sure. Regardless, the place was clean, and staff kept the vegetables fully stocked on all stations. I highly recommend.

Google
They have bing-soo now!! It’s a Korean shaved ice dessert and they just started it on July 2nd. Come and try! It’s included in the price of the meal, too. This is our favorite restaurant in the Atlanta area. They are so kind to us when we come in to eat and make sure we are enjoying our dinner. The owner even made a sauce for me they didn’t have available in the sauce section. The amount of vegetables and items you can add to your broth to make it your own is amazing. This is an all you can eat Korean hot pot restaurant, but you can use the sauces and sides to create your own Asian flair. This is the place we bring all our out of town guests and it’s highly recommended to try. We are repeat customers.

Google
It’s a buffet style and you can choose your own broth! They have delicious shabu shabu with a wide variety of fresh vegetables, noodles, and other options, as well as a selection of hot foods and appetizers! Their dessert bingsu was so fluffy and good, no need to go to another dessert spot after eating here! How to eat hotpot in korean style: put vegetables & seafood first, meats, then finish with noodles✨ Great customer service, spacious and clean inside & free parking spots.

Yelp
My niece and I visited this restaurant, and it was absolutely delicious--well worth the drive from Athens! They offer an incredible variety of options, including tteokbokki (Korean spicy rice cakes), sushi, and a great selection of refreshing drinks. The buffet area is full of flavorful choices, making it a wonderful spot for anyone, whether you prefer vegan options or enjoy meat and seafood. For those on the vegan side, you can skip the meat prices and still enjoy the hotpot and buffet selections. But if you're a meat lover, this place is a must-visit. For only $40, you can indulge in an all-you-can-eat experience featuring premium meats, hotpot, and seafood. The quality, variety, and overall experience make it an excellent value. Truly worth the trip and highly recommended! The ambiance was amazing not too loud where you cant talk, and service was amazing cups where always refilled

Yelp
Came for the AYCE! I got the new soup to try, jjampong! And it was sooo good! It actually tasted like jampong! Wish it was a little spicier but nothing that couldn't be fixed with my own spicy dipping sauce. I also love the concept of having your own pot, it is so much easier to eat when you can just cook what you want and not have to dig through a big pot (cleaner too!) The meats we got and kept getting was the beef rib eye slices! They were so good and had the perfect amount of fatty on it. There were also a lot of selection in the hot bar! I tried the cold noodles but it was very salty! The japchae was delicious tho. The sauce bar was also very clean and stocked up pretty well. I do wish there were more vegetables option if I'm honest. Like enoki mushrooms, different tofu options, yam. But other than that, even if you don't get meat here the veges are pretty filling! Esp with the hot bar. I enjoyed the bingsu machine so much! What an amazing addition! It was so fluffy and perfectly shaved. I also love the powder they have to put on it! Will definitely look forward to coming back here.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a weekday. Overall, it was just okay. The quality was decent -- I ordered the brisket as my one meat plate, and it was pretty good. There were a lot of options in the buffet for toppings like veggies, noodles, and sauces, which I appreciated. But most of the buffet items tasted a bit stale, like they had been sitting out for a while (understandable for a lunch service, but still noticeable). Next time I come back, I'd probably try the unlimited meat option and just focus on that, since that seemed like the main draw here.

Yelp
This is the spot where I come for hotpot... but somehow end up getting full off the buffet sides instead . Like, where else can you load up on tteokbokki, soba noodles, sushi rolls, fried rice, jello, and fruit salad all in one go?! For broth, I personally loved the udon dashi (goes well w beef bulgogi) and beef bone broth--both packed with deep flavors! And for dipping, the black sesame and peanut sauce were my go-to for that rich, nutty flavor. Oh, and the bunny pudding costs an extra $3, but it's SO cute--honestly might be worth it just for the picture... service was good, if you come during weekend or rush hour(lunch/dinner time) it might get busy.

Yelp
Clean and spacious all you can eat hot pot in Duluth! The vegetables are fresh and there's so many options to choose from. They also have soba noodles, sushi, and refreshing drinks that come with the all you can eat package. Meat can be purchased separately. Reasonably priced hot pot. Service was attentive. Definitely will be coming back!

Yelp
*9 broths: dashi(anchovy seaweed based), vegetable/spicy dashi, vegetable beef bone, mara. 3 new broths: deungchon(korean authentic spicy), tomato, udon-dashi *Basic shabu buffet: +70 vegetables, mushrooms, fishcakes, dumpling, noodles and more *If you wanna enjoy real shabu, you have to order protein: - One plate of protein from $7.99-$9.99 - Combo A is just like the basic shabu buffet but includes 1 plate of meat or seafood of your choice with $7, which is $2 cheaper - If you can eat more than 2 plates of protein, choosing unlimited for $37.99 would be better choice. - They have new protein - bulgogi(sweet soysauce based seasoning), which is perfect match with udon-dashi. *K-food and more - Tteokboggi, fried dumpling, fried rice, house-made kimchi, soba naodle - shrimp tempura roll, california roll, spring roll - dessert: fruit, salads, rice punch, cinnamon punch, pudding This place is every Buffet lovers paradise. The ambiance of the place was very clean and 9292 is just a great place to eat good hotpot on a chilly day. This is a must try if you are looking for something to warm the soul.

Yelp
We met up with a friend here and overall experience was pretty good. Lots of food items to choose from and it's AYCE! They have a menu for choosing variety of meats and broth type. We all went with the bone broth. They also have a buffet style for choosing your vegetables, fish balls, tofu, to make your sauce and condiments, etc. the broth comes tasteless with no salt or pepper. It's kind of self service and you the only thing that requires service is beverages, ordering meats, and more broth. I am normally use to flavored broth in shabu shabu and I can see why they made it without salt and pepper so you can flavor it yourself but I'd personally like some flavor to it. Other than that, everything was great! I'd totally try it again if I'm in town because of the variety of options in the buffet. Place is bigger than it looks! Great for small or large groups. Till then, let's eat!

Katrina M.

Yelp
Great service and atmosphere! Food is great quality and different tier options for meat eaters and vegetarians.

Yelp
As I already tried their bbq restaurant and the experience was great. I've heard that they also have a hotpot restaurant so today I gave it try. The food and meat was phenomenal, especially their buffet line. You can find anything from fresh vegetable to side dishes like japchae and Korean rice cake. The restaurant today is quite staff-short so when I pressed the calling button, no one came most of the time. The price to me is quite expensive too. I understand that their buffet line was great but $30 without unlimited meat is sup rising for me. Beside that, the restaurant is clean and very welcoming. Overall, this place is fire but because of the price, I would not go back for a while.

Yelp
I love 9292 Shabu! This is one of my favorite shabu/Korean hotpot places. Always a great time and great service. A huge buffet spread filled with various veggies, noodles, dumplings as well as a side of some hot dishes options like a Korean boonshik faves like ddukbokki, kimchi fried rice, regular fried rice, fried dumplings, japchae, spaghetti. They have a variety of options for protein which also has an AYCE option and a really big sauce bar. You can choose a broth type and there's individual pots for everyone. Some of my favs are the following: Shikhae- Korean sweetened rice drink Pumpkin jook- porridge Moolnengmyun with toppings (they have really good kimchi, etc) Definitely check them out! They do a nice job of keeping the buffet stations clean and plentiful of options. It's great for large parties and for date night out.

Yelp
A friend and I came here during lunch. It was busy! We sat down at a booth and this place is spacious! We came for the AYCE and we can choose our broth. I got the spicy dashi and off we go to fill our plates. They have so many varieties to choose from. We got plenty of greens: kale, spinach, mushrooms, dumplings, meatballs, fishballs, sweet potato, malanga, kimchi, etc. They also brought out large plates of meat and seafood for us to start. Everything was fresh and delicious. They do limit your time, but we sat there for a while and no one rushed us. We were only able to get 2 plates of meat/seafood before we were full. I would definitely come back just for the AYCE. It was more than enough food to fill me up. We weren't able to eat as much meat as we intended to. But good service and nice selection of food. We left with full and happy bellies!

Yelp
After having a great hot pot experience out of town, we wanted to find a place locally that would satisfy the urge. 9292 did just that. This is primarily an all you can eat buffet. There are tons of fresh vegetables, noodles, dumplings, and more available. There is a small hot as well. There is also a sauce bar with some house made sauces and base ingredients to make your own combination. The server will take your order for the type of broth you want that will be heated in front of you at your table. You can also choose from a single serving of meat or seafood or all you can eat if the same options. The price varies depending upon just the buffet (quite reasonable and plenty to eat) or meat options. The beef and chicken we ordered was a small platter but decent quality. We also ordered shrimp that came head-on. They looked beautiful but didn't taste fresh. There used to be hot coffee, specialty drink fountains, and frozen slushes as well as fruit to end the meal with a bit of sweet. Overall, everything was tasty and the experience was fun. The ambiance was clean and modern. We will definitely come back.

Yelp
-big veggie selection -meat quality is okayy -service was mostly good; depends on the staff -price is decent for AYCE -hot bar fried rice is weirdly pretty good; but everything else is meh -peanut sauce w chili oil and green onion and garlic and black pepper and jalapeño is my fav sauce combo

Sheryl Anne M.

Yelp
We love this place worth every penny * Sauce bar with cold sides adds variety. * Friendly staff * Cook-your-own meals with generous veggie portions. * Affordable pricing

Yelp
Have been to this restaurant a few times and it never disappoints. They have a large variety of fresh vegetables, fish cakes and an extensive hot bar. They have recently added a dumpling spread that is delicious. The staff are super attentive to the buffet with making sure everything is clean and it is fully stocked. Service is attentive and management comes by to make sure customers are satisfied. This place is excellent for vegetarians and carnivores alike. The meat is a nice quality with a good mouth feel. Try this place if you are in the mood for hot pot or to introduce hotpot virgins to the experience.

Yelp
This was a random place I dine in at during my visit in Georgia and I say my money was well spent here! There were so many choices to choose to put in my shabu shabu while it was super fresh! On top of that, the side dishes, menu and dessert options were so nice too! One thing that I personally really liked was that the servers brought us plentiful meat and not just few pieces at a time. Also the servers were very kind and provided a good service. The restaurant is very big so each tables are decently apart from each other and I liked how bright it was!!
google avatar

Trinity N.

Yelp
They switched owners and changed up the menu. The prices are lower now but the quality seems to be a little better! They do a steam box where they present you your platter and it steams for 10 minutes. I got the unlimited so with the steam box I get unlimited meat. It's still clean and well organized inside.

Yelp
I've seen this place for YEARS and I'm not sure why it took me so long to try it but I'm glad I finally popped in!! Located in the Steve Reynolds shopping center at the very end. I love all of the Korean influence and establishments in the area so naturally, I would love this too! We showed up at 7pm today and it was not very busy. We were immediately seated into a booth for 6. It was clean and the service was attentive. The buffet is full of an assortments of veggies, seasonings, tofu, and many noodle options. I will say the key to hotpot is getting your broth seasoned properly... it took a few tries but I got it! I'm honestly impressed with the way it ended up tasting and how healthy this was. We stayed until 8:30 when it was last call. Final verdict: Please try this place if you've been thinking about it. You won't be disappointed and you definitely get your moneys worth. The quality was top notch and the service is also good!! Will be back for more!
google avatar

Angela L.

Yelp
It is one of the more expensive hot pots.. especially when you get all you can eat rather than a la carte. The service isn't as good as it used to be. It seems as though the kitchen at times has a difficult time with keeping up with service for the hungry meat eating patrons. The buffet is well stocked but if you are trying to get your money's worth for all you can eat meat then it is like pulling teeth. They do have one of the largest variety of buffet choices and sauce options.
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to get Hot pot is 9292 Shabu! I love that its buffet style, you bring whatever you want to eat to the table to add to your hot pot. They have a few options for the broth. I like Mala the most, but it can get a little salty towards the end of your meal. They also have beef, dashi, and veggie broths too. There is also a meat option add on to the buffet for a surcharge. You can get brisket, chicken, beef Aorta, beef, pork, and shrimp AYCE! On top of that they also have side dishes, orange and coffee slushies to enjoy. Oddly enough I also come here when I want to eat Japchae. I don't know what it is, but the seasoning on the noodles have me eating at-least 2 plates. I know this is a hot pot joint, but they make really good food. They also serve Fried rice, Spaghetti, Kimari, Kimchi Pancakes, Naegmyun, tteobuki, sticky rice, kimichi fried rice, mash potatoes, corn cheese, and more. I like that its not just Hot Pot, its super kid friendly or picky eater friendly. I highly recommend getting the buffet plus the meat your first time, to get the full experience! Definitely top off your hot pot with broth! If the servers don't come to your table often, which is usually the case because they get busy. There is a call button on the table for you, this will come in handy when you want more meat! I also highly recommend making your own sauce at the sauce bar, you can add it into your broth to enhance the flavor or to dip your meats into it! Sorry for the slight lack of food in the buffet videos, they actually refill the buffet very frequently. I just came right after Japan Fest & the restaurant was fairly busy so the food got ate haha. But seriously you really get your monies worth coming here! Its definitely group friendly, because THE BEST PART is the Hot pot is actually Individual hot pot. So no worrying about people putting food you don't like in the pot. Pro tip, if its your first time ask for Tongs. It might be kinda of hard to get the food out of the pot your first time around. I appreciate their clean restaurant & clean bathrooms. This trip, the stalls didn't have a smell. The restaurant itself is hygienic too, during covid times it was mandatory if you wanted to grab food from the buffet to wear gloves. They're a little more lax about it now, but they do still provide gloves for you to use. Overall this is a great social place to get hot pot with your friends! My favorite time to get it is on a cold rainy day, it really fills you up with warm comfort Korean food!

Christal S. B.

Yelp
I love this place! Clean and buffet style hot pot. And great sauce selection with other delicious dishes! I come here all the time.

Yelp
Amazing and helpful service! Very delicious and flavorful broth! Everything was very clean

Yelp
We loved the spicy vegetable broth and miso broth. We picked premium ribeye and pork meats. The delicious vegetables and sauces were tasty! The variety of vegetable dishes are a highlight from this Korean hot pot place The side dishes include kimchi and other sides. We enjoyed hot pot at 9292 shabu.

Yelp
Incredible food, great service. Super clean restaurant as well. I can't wait to come back with my family!

Yelp
Love the convenience and the spread at 9292. It's the best and healthiest hot pot option and I love to come here after a nice time at Jeju Spa. Only a few minutes down the road, this hot pot is a great all you can eat option with lots of variety. Upgrade and you can add some meats, otherwise there's plenty of veggies and seafood options for your choosing. There's also plenty of side dishes and sauces to concoct a dipping sauce for your nibbles. My family and I came right before closing and we were so grateful that they stayed open for us to clean house. We ate til we were stuffed and right before closing. It's a popular spot on the weekend and during peak hours. Highly recommend if you're looking for a healthy hot pot option.
google avatar

Yelp
great place to eat and enjoy should come to eat here everybody it's awesome and awesome staff

Anissa C.

Yelp
For the price you pay, I feel that we are being short changed! I love hotpot! In comparison this is one of the worst. Our server was horrible. He dropped off our food and never came back to Check on us . I had to wave him over to place our second round! And don't be fooled by the $25 Charge for the weekends! Get this it's only for thr food on the bar. Which doesn't not include meet! What? That's right. It's $41.00 for all you can eat meat! And get this, you don't get access to all of the meat choices! it's limited to about 8 or 9! Never again! If they keep this business model they will not be around long.. Not for that price!

Chelsea M.

Yelp
Amazing! Everything you could want and they recently upped their desert game too. It's so rare to feel super full/ satisfied and also healthy at the same time, but all the fresh produce here leaves me feeling that way + it's an amazing value!
google avatar

Jessie Y.

Yelp
Good place to come if you're a vegetarian or trying to eat healthy. They have a lot of cooked food options and carb options like noodles and rice cake etc to put into your hotpot. If you want meat then you need to pick either the combo B for one plate of meat or the all you can eat meat combo. Adding meat makes the hotpot option more expensive and at that price point then I would go somewhere else. Overall this place isn't bad, and again it's a good option if you are looking to fill up on veggies/carbs.
google avatar

Mina L.

Yelp
9292 shabu is absolutely delicious and is a treat whenever I get a chance. There are so many varieties of fresh veggies, noodles, side dishes and more. Some of my favorite items are the fresh kimchi, japchae, and Korean potato salad. This is such a great idea for a delicious lunch, birthday, and more.

Quynh T.

Yelp
Delicious hot pot with fresh ingredients and rich broths. Great variety of meats, veggies, and sauces. Cozy atmosphere and attentive service. Perfect for group dinners--highly recommend!

Himadri G.

Yelp
Anytime I come for hotpot I realize just how much more improvement my chopstick skills need. This place was a delight, I love that it's buffet style and you get to pick and choose your favs. They have yummy appetizers and a few desserts as well! The spicy vegetarian broth is some of the best I've had amongst my hot pot ventures. As a vegetarian, I was able to pick from a plethora. Definitely would come back. The place is large, plenty of seating. It was quite empty on the day I went but I've heard they have a crowd usually. Service was also nice, it's more hands off from their end - but they are happy to answer questions and provide broth refills whenever! I noticed that they have the option to close earlier if the crowd is less, would recommend you get your fix in before those times in case you are a late eater.

Yelp
First time and enjoyed it. The food was fresh and the service was good. We did option A and I was so full with just one meat option. I can only imagine when you get the other option how full you get. Will be back

Jonathan N.

Yelp
It is the very best in the areas for the true "Shabu Shabu" hot pot, unlike all other Chinese trying to be. The menu selection of choices are straight & dimple to select from. Whether it's the basic shabu, or added meats, or seafood selections of your choice, or the "All You Can Eat" selection, which includes EVERYTHING!! The only downside to the last option is that EVERYONE at the table MUST have the same..... . Aside from that, it's one AMAZING hot pot with such high quality of selection and variety to select from (As you can see in the attached pics & videos), plus, the broths are clean and true to the tastes, unlike the Chinese places.

Adam M.

Yelp
Great food for a great price. Food was fresh and service was amazing. We got the meat combo and the price was really good for all you get.
google avatar

Keith F.

Yelp
There are a lot of positives to this hot pot restaurant. I would say the amount of choices on the bar are one of the best I have ever experienced. They have multiple types of kimchi and all of the vegetables you can imagine. I enjoyed the carrots , cabbage, broccoli, and mushrooms. They had 4 different types of mushrooms which was a nice option. The kimchi was fresh which is my preference over the more fermented style. The sauce bars had a lot of choices as well as some posted instructions on how to combine them into the perfect sauce. Something to consider is that if one person orders meat then the whole table has to do that. The service was friendly. I would definitely come back.

Cherilynn K.

Yelp
Added ayce meat to our buffet. Selection on menu included all seafood and beef, pork, lamb. Buffet table had lots of choices besides hotpot ingredients: sushi rolls, kimchis, fried rice, spring rolls, spicy rice cakes, glass noodles, fruit, even ice cream and frozen slushies. Def worth the money. Not too crowded and the waiters were attentive.

Yelp
The lunch value here is phenomenal. For $15.99 (buffet only, no premium meats) you can have an all you can eat hot pot experience. The offering on the buffet is plentiful and will provide more than enough sustenance. The buffet items are fresh plentiful with various types of mushrooms, leafy greens, fish cakes, hotdogs, taro root, carrot, potato, etc. I also loved the Korean sides (various kimchees, ttaekkbokki, kimchee and vegetable jeon, etc.). I've also had the all you can eat premium meat dinner ($39.99) and the meats were quality, fresh, and delicious. I kept ordering the shrimp, prime brisket, ribeye, pork, and the portions were large and plentiful. They did not skimp at all and when I said was done, the waitress asked, "Are you sure? You should get one more plate of meat..." So if you want AYCE hotpot where they don't skimp and try to short you, try 9292 Shabu.

Cuong L.

Yelp
Your foods are very delicious!Your service is very good too!And lastly your workers are very helpful to us too!

Chrissy A.

Yelp
I'd been coming to this place for years. My last visit will have to be my last. Food quality has gone downhill. Ate the pasta salad and it was rancid. Food does not look fresh. Also suspicious that there are many 1st time reviewers giving 5 stars... not sure if they're real accounts.

Lily A.

Yelp

Yelp
Fun fact: Shabu shabu refers to Japanese hotpot which consists of meats boiled in broth with dipping sauce. According to Wiki, "[t]he term is onomatopoeic, derived from the sound - "swish swish" - emitted when the ingredients are stirred in the cooking pot." This hotpot joint has several broth options, including dash (anchovy), spicy dashi, beef for an extra dollar, and a few others. The price is $39.99 per person with all-you-can-eat meats, seafood, veggies, and random Korean dishes. It's a bit too pricey for the all-you-can-eat, but there are a lot of options. For meats and seafood, you can get brisket (definitely recommend it because it contains some nice fatty parts), lamb, chicken, pork, clams, mussels, tripe, shrimp, and a few others. For veggies, there is watercress, spinach, lotus root, beansprouts, mushrooms, tofu, and others. There are also frozen items, including fishballs, fish tofu, dumplings, imitation crab meat, and noodles. There is also a sauce bar where you can put together things to make your own. Overall, it was a great experience but the price tag is hefty.

Yelp
This was my first time trying 9292 Shabu and I was pleasantly surprised at the options available. I came for the weekday buffet lunch and got the spicy dashi broth and chose chicken as my protein. Overall the ambiance was pleasant and service was fast and friendly. Looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
Stopped by this hotpot place in the middle of the day on a Saturday afternoon (around 4 pm). The inside of the restaurant was nice and clean, and we were seated and taken care of right away. Our waiter was kind and provided us our broths (we chose spicy dashi, beef bone, and dashi broths) and utensils immediately. My group of three opted to do the AYCE which was pricey at $41.99 per person, but we had access to the entire buffet of vegetables. Meat had to be ordered separately with the waiter, and we decided on ribeye, lamb, pork (and ordered each of these 3 times). The buffet options were pretty good - sauce section was a bit small compared to other hotpot places, but they had a lot of veggies and fish cake options. They also had a drink stand with rice punch/cinnamon drink, and another with orange/coffee slush, which I found unique and tasty. Overall, food was great and we left satisfied, but the price point was very steep for the limited options at the AYCE buffet stands.
