14 Miami Restaurants We’ve Always Wondered About

"You know this spot. There’s a freaking warplane on the lawn and artillery weapons aimed at the Dolphin Expressway out back. It’s been there for decades—at the periphery of the airport and your curiosity. Here’s what’s inside: WWI memorabilia, a panoramic view of planes taking off, and very average food. But it’s the only restaurant where you can listen to air traffic control through retro headphones provided at each table. This place is charming, and we’d go back before a flight for the $45 Sunday brunch, which includes bottomless mimosas and a chocolate fountain." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, virginia otazo, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, ryan pfeffer, ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanin

94th Aero Squadron - Review - Flagami - Miami - The Infatuation

"You’ve seen this place. There’s a freaking airplane out front, along with artillery weapons aimed at the Dolphin Expressway out back. It’s been there for decades—at the periphery of the airport and your curiosity. The food isn’t great. The steak is overcooked, and the ribs taste like Tony Roma’s. But Aero Squadron makes up for it in charm. The restaurant looks like a big French country house. It’s filled with WWI memorabilia and has a panorama view of planes taking off at the airport. Each table has a pair of headphones you can slip on and listen to air traffic control while eating calamari. We’re not sure if that’s FAA-compliant, but it’s fun. They also have a generous Sunday brunch, where $45.95 includes endless mimosas, a carving station, paella, lasagna, waffles, and a chocolate fountain. This all may come in handy one day if you need a quiet meal very close to the airport. photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC" - Virginia Otazo

Excellent buffet brunch. ADA wheelchair accessible and a pet friendly patio. Food was amazing. Service was friendly. Very clean..great parking and free music but tip him please. On booth chairs are old headsets you can wear and listen to voices in the past. I will happily come back here.

Great Saturday Night! Nice, cozy place. Great people, awesome service. Fantastic music. Was my first time there and I’ll definitely be back. Great views of the runway. Also good to bring a date on a Sunday afternoon.

Google
Amazing food and great service. Our waiter was Javier and he was super friendly and gave great recommendations. We will be back and will recommend to everyone. The food was absolutely delicious 😍

Google
Amazing location - plenty of space, several rooms in the restaurant. The menu offers big variety- but steaks can really be recommended ☺️ If you like airplanes - you will not be disappointed having a great view on Miami Intl Airport.

Everything was great from the drinks to the desert. The service was top notch. Interesting experience from the decor, headphones to listen to air traffic control, and watching planes take off from the run way. There is also a disco available if your looking to have some excitement for the night. Come early to find parking. I would recommend if your in Miami.

Google
We just had a quick lunch on the way to the airport. But when my husband travels, his local friends recommend this restaurant. It is an enormous space. There was a large corporate outing today. They also have large space outdoors. The french onion soup is something special. The broth is spectacular, just like grandma's. We had soup and salad, and when we were done, the server offered us delicious espresso. I am a super huge fan of their Cuban stlye espresso. The atmosphere is fun you have a view of airport action and there are also headphone to listen to air traffic.

Very nice place to come and hang out with the girls... or guys. Also great for Famiy get togethers. Nice place, Mimosas galore! Birthdays are also celebrated. Music very nice for all decades. A must to experience. ❤️

Yelp
Decent food. Slow service. VERY expensive. Basic salad with grilled chicken, $32. Cup of mediocre soup, $11. Piece of Apple walnut pie, $16.

Yelp
Service was ok ... food was bad. Caesar salad was soggy croutons and all. Chicken and mash was extremely dry and lack flavor.

Yelp
This is unlike any other 94th aero I've ever been to. This seemingly was built as one but they have decided to pivot. This is a loud-ass salsa club disguised as a restaurant. You cannot talk to your table mates. The live music is not good. When they take a break, you'd think you get a break too but no, it's super loud salsa music on recordings. If you want to own a salsa club do it. But having been to other 94th aeros... this was bunk. Also the food was sub-par. Not awful, jus meh and overpriced.

Yelp
The 49 Aero Squadron restaurant!, a place known for its vintage aviation theme, cozy atmosphere, and nostalgic charm. It's old-school vibe, combined with solid food and a unique ambiance. Perfect for a laid-back, delicious dining experience. A really nice surprise, tasty dishes, tender steak, nice and attentive service. More than invited to visit this restaurant again.

Yelp
I came here for date night under a reservation, and while dim light is romantic, if you're as blind as me, you may want to put that cell phone flashlight on low to medium to read the menu. The lobster was good, but not stellar, and the wine pairing was nice. It was kind of loud and felt cramped between tables. We probably won't return. Parking is plenty and safe.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was amazing. Javier was our waiter and we were guests of a person that comes here all the time, he gave us some great recommendations. I had the escargot to start - truly delicious. I had Bronzino that was served with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. This too was delicious. My colleagues had steak - cooked perfectly and they both enjoyed. Decor is a little old school. I would come again if in the area

Yelp
This review is about the Sunday buffet brunch. At $45 and change, it's the best deal in town. Oysters, smoked salmon, peel and eat shrimp, cheeses, salads, paella, lamb, beef, etc, desserts of all kinds, including a chocolate fountain, and, on top of all that, unlimited champagne and mimosas! Service is great, large and free parking lot, and you get to watch the airplanes taking off and landing. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
This place had one of the best brunches I've ever had. Not only did it have such a variety of food, but there was sooo much food. It was absolutely amazing! Now, it was a loud atmosphere that played live music and had a lively crowd, but I personally loved it. If you want something quiet then this place isn't for you. The place itself is all about planes (hence the name and the close proximity to the airport) but I love everything about the theme. Lastly, the service was great. Everyone is kind and attentive and has a smile on their face. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
BEST BRUNCH EVER!!!! I landed here one Sunday thinking I was going to try their Miami Spice menu for lunch. When we walked in, it was the most amazing brunch spread I had ever seen. A cook making fresh egg dishes, all the fruits and pastries plus everything from seafood, to chicken to beef dishes and all the sides. And of course, bacon! So I immediately changed my mind about Miami Spice Come to find out, they weren't even serving their Miami Spice menu until dinner. I usually don't care for buffet style setups but for this, I made an exception!

Mr. D H.

Yelp
Bad - On Valentine's Day the menu was limited.... Seated without acknowledgment for 40 minutes & had to leave table to get server to come to our table. Good - 4+ star on past experience, several years ago.

Yelp
What's better than aviation scenery paired with a brunch buffet? Aviation scenery paired with a brunch buffet AND bottomless mimosas that's what! And at a great price. I was a little apprehensive about visiting because the IG page for this place was a little dated but I'm soooo happy my friends ended up convincing me to come because I really enjoyed it! LOVED the complexity of Aero Squadron. Feels like an upscale experience but the vibe overall is more relaxed and lowkey (dressed down). Service was freaking impeccable. I mean it when I said they KEPT the drinks flowing. Literally can't recall a single time that I got to see the bottom of my mimosa glass. Soon as an ounce went missing BOOM, they filled it right back up (which is a dangerous game to play when you start forgetting what drink you're on haha). They were ON IT. We were greeted as soon as we got to the table and I love how they have the aviation headphones for us to listen to the planes while eating! Super cool concept! Sometimes buffets are a double edged sword because you pay for an influx of food sometimes and end up feeling that it's of mediocre quality but I didn't feel that way at all at Aero Squadron! The food was flavorful and there was a nice array of everything. I enjoyed the (couple of) plates that I had! Will 10000% be returning and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice lowkey scenic brunch (if you're into planes)!

Yelp
Steaks were on point!! Great drink selection!! Appetizers looked good we didn't get any!! Great view of the airport!! Service was good. Kept drinks full and helped us when needed!! This is a great place by the airport try it out!!

Yelp
Been coming here for years. Great atmosphere and decor. For Sunday brunch they have a guy playing the piano. Food quality for a brunch has actually improved in the last few years. Many many options and still affordable which is something unheard of now a days in Miami. It gets pretty packed so be patient. Service is on point. Stefan attempted to us and did a great job even there were so many tables he was serving. Definitely come back and come hungry

Yelp
Love this restaurant! It has a unique design and very nice view. You can watch the airplanes fly by you as you enjoy your meal with loved ones :) We came here to celebrate my sister's birthday (actually last year too thats just how much she loves this place) and the service was great as always. Everyone loved their food and everything had a tasty flavor. The spinach dip and cocktail shrimp were a nice appetizer! They even passed out complimentary bread; it was nice, warm, and crunchyy. Everyone at the table had a filet mignon with the shrimp scampi combo except for my father and i. He got the seafood collage and i got the rack of lamb. Everything delicious! And for dessert, we got a chocolate lava cake. It was phenomenal!! It came with vanilla ice cream, and they sang my sister happy birthday Overall an amazing experience:)

Yelp
Hands down THE best reasonable brunch buffet in Miami. Everything was delish and the service was outstanding. I went with a group of 15 ladies and we had a blast. Afterwards we went outside to take some photos because it was so pretty. Already telling everyone about and I myself can't wait to be back.

Yelp
This place is super expensive compare to other dining options in area and the ambiance sucks

Yelp
This place next to Miami International airport has been around for as long as a I remember! The military ambiance and decor is dated and hasn't changed in over 30 years, but that gives it some of its character and charm. I had seen some mixed reviews on Yelp, but actually enjoyed the food very much. Everything was delicious, except the cheesecake. Didn't like it and even my kids didn't eat it when I brought home the leftovers. Loved the drinks and our waiter was attentive. Had a nice time there!

Yelp
Let's talk about brunch. Let's talk about a spot EVERYone has passed while driving on the palmetto. Let's talk about delicious food at a great price. The 94th Aero Squadron restaurant in South Florida, nestled next to Miami International Airport, is a true gem. On both of my visits, I was met with exceptional food and fantastic service. The dining hall, which hosted a Miami-Dade County awards banquet during one visit, provided an equally remarkable experience with its elegant setting and delectable cuisine. The restaurant's rich aerial culture and military static displays not only add character but also create fantastic photo opportunities. Whether you're there for a meal or a special event, the 94th Aero Squadron offers an unforgettable experience steeped in history and culinary excellence. Do yourself a favor and stop by, you deserve it.

Yelp
Stepping into this place feels like stepping into 1990s cheesiness with a keyboard player playing covers, dingy, the dark wood everywhere, and 90s instrumental versions of songs playing everywhere. The buffet options are limitless with an impressive amount of crab legs and oysters. For $45 for bottomless mimosas AND food. This is a Miami hidden gem!! The service was attentive and made sure our mimosas were full.
google avatar

Yelp
Yunier was the best waiter!! He made our experience great! As always the Ambiance at Squadron didn't disappoint! The food great.

Yelp
Sunday brunch is a unique, great experience. If you can, sut by the windows and watch the planes take off and land at MIA's international and cargo runways. The food selection is vast. An extensive breakfast bar with waffles, potatoes, bacon, sausage, eggs benedict, and made-to-order omelets or fresh made eggs your way. The "regular food room is vast with varying arrays of salads, hot meat dishes, hot fish dishes, lamb, chicken, ribs, veggies, a carving station, a kids table, and a large selection of cold shellfish (including shrimp, oysters, crab legs, etc),and if you have room at the end, a large selection of desserts. Mimosas, OJ, coffee, and tea are included. Overall, it was a great experience.

Yelp
Miami staple! Best Sunday brunch in town and its an absolute steal! Family owned restaurant and has stayed true to its roots!

Yelp
I visited this establishment on Christmas for dinner. We were a party of 7, the first half of our party arrived first. When I arrived the hostess didn't even bother to walk me to the table and just pointed to where it was. The server was pretty nice and friendly. I loved that we were able to see the planes taking off, this added a nice touch to the dining experience. The restaurant was pretty quiet and not overly crowded. Which is why I was surprised that the table we were placed at seemed a little odd. We were at a table that was clearly made for only 6. At first I just thought they didn't have tables that would accommodate 7 but as I continued to look around there were better table options. The food was decent but nothing spectacular. I ordered the New York steak, it came with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. The potatoes were amazing but the steak wasn't as flavorful as I expected it to be. The white sangria was also amazing.

Yelp
Visited with my family for Sunday Brunch Buffet and was impressed. This place has been around for ages and frankly, I didn't have high expectations. Boy was I wrong! There are so many stations with all types of food- you have your typical breakfast buffet with omelettes made to order and waffles but there is also crab legs, oysters, peel and eat shrimp, prime rib, pork, seafood paella, the list goes on and on! Not to mention bottomless mimosas! The service was phenomenal, our wine glasses were never empty and our plates were cleared quickly. We sat at a window and had a wonderful view of MIA with planes landing taking off, as well as a few iguanas near the lake! They have headphones at every table where you can listen in on airdrop control and pets, communicating from the airport. It was awesome and my four-year-old daughter loved it!
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
Celebrated my sister's bridal shower here and it did not disappoint. The patience and attention they had with us was amazing. The food so delicious and very very fresh! They have an all you can eat buffet self serve and all the options were just incredible. The mimosas don't stop at all! lol they make sure your cup is full at all times. The waiters were very welcoming and polite. We loved the music and the how cool it looked inside. This place is a must go!

Yelp
Food quality and taste are excellent. Service is impressive. Ambience without compare, salute to our WWII veterans for their sacrifice and service. Close to MIA

Yelp
I was surprised to find this at the Miami International Airport. It's on the backside of the airport, but has a great view of the aircraft ground traffic. The service was good. We were seated quickly, and our server came to the table within a minute. He was very polite and attentive. He returned the table multiple times to ensure our drinks were continuously filled. The food came out quickly, and was hot and fresh. The food quality and flavor were very good as well. The restaurant has that old French, dark ambience that is relaxing. It was a great, comfortable environment to take a lunch break. The bathroom was very clean and well stocked. There were several items on the menu I wanted to try, but just didn't have room so I will definitely be back.

Yelp
I made reservations through Opentable for a party of seven at 6pm; on Christmas Day. Part of my party went inside less than five minutes before me due to the rain and was seated. When I arrived at the host stand, there was a group in front of me that was greeted with a Merry Christmas and smile. The host had someone walk them to their table. When it was my turn I didn't get the same welcome. I told her my name and she pointed and said your table is over there. No one walked me to the table, I had to look for my family own. I thought this was rude and didn't feel welcomed. My family was seated in an awkward spot, the restaurant added a seventh chair in the middle of the walkway. In the middle of having dinner, I had to get up to let someone pass through. From looking around the restaurant, there were other spots we could've been seated at. Our server wasn't the best, he didn't check on the table but once. He didn't provide bread for the table until right before our entree came out. And he only provided on basket, remember we were a party of seven. The food came out quick and hot. The mash potatoes were really good and the lamb shanks I had tasted more like a roast beef. But it was tender and okay. One thing I didn't like was the included gratuity. Our waiter wasn't worth a $40 something dollar tip. Not sure if I'll return to this establishment.
google avatar

Kaylin P.

Yelp
I want to thank Cynthia for going above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was perfect Sunday . Her genuine hospitality and impeccable service made all the difference. Our server Cynthia was an absolute gem. She knew the menu, offered great recommendations, and cared about my feedback.
google avatar

Pauline C.

Yelp
I thought the air strip was closer...you can't feel or hear planes taking off, barely just seeing them in the distance. And the windows are small so not the best view anyway if seated on the upper levels like we were. The brunch buffet offerings were plentiful with unlimited mimosas @ $45. Service was good at the other tables but our waiter never appeared again. They had an omelette station offering waffles, bacon, sausage and potatoes which had long lines but the wait wasn't too bad. Further down is a breakfast station of coffee and pastries, leading into cold salads, then hot entrees, and ending at the carving station. Adjacent is the paella and seafood station, and desserts are in the corner area. A few things were good but most looked better than it tasted. There was live music and being in Miami they catered a lot of the music to the Cuban/Latino turned karaoke clientele. Quantity not quality, unlimited mimosas and live music keeps this place very busy!
google avatar

Fernanda L.

Yelp
This place surpassed my expectation's! I spent the whole afternoon during a Sunday brunch event indulging in the many foods available at the buffet and sipping on bottomless bubbly while enjoying the company of the party of 14 that we were, laughing and celebrating our friendship, this was the perfect setting for us. The restaurant was so lively with Mariachi's performing in our room, the piano being played in another room, there wasn't a dull moment. With a wide variety of food options to choose from at the buffet area, the pork, mojo rice and beans, paella were some of my favorites. Also available was a omelette station, with waffles and fruits and breads, along with a seafood cold bar and a dessert station with a chocolate fountain. Ribs, lamb and prime rib were just some of the other items that were also available. The buffet area was very clean. The restaurant was completely full yet it didn't feel crowded when walking around to get food. The service was phenomenal! The staff was great! Our glasses were filled the entire time we were there! No stinginess on the bottomless! The room we sat at was towards the back of the restaurant, which accommodated our big party however the rooms in the front have a view of the airport runway which should make for a beautiful view seeing the planes takeoff or land. The front of the restaurant is very pretty and well maintained and there is also an outside area towards the back surrounded by greenery that you can hang out and glance at the runway activities. This place has been around forever and it's had its ups and down but I'm glad to see that they seem to be doing well now.

Yelp
I've been to 94th Aero Squadron twice, once for brunch and once for an wedding so I broke my review down into two separate parts. Sunday Brunch: Absolutely amazing!!!! They had separate tables for each food group and a line of food warmers as well as a U shaped desert corner. There was a table for scones and pastries, another for breads, bagels, butter, and cream cheese, one for fruits and nuts, another for seafood such as shrimp & crab legs! In the food warmers they had rice, lamb, beef, plantains, pasta, and so much more. There is a stand for omelettes, sausage, waffles and more. There are also some vegetarian options but not too much. It was a fully loaded, something for everyone kind of ALL YOU CAN EAT buffet. At your table you have the option of having bottomless mimosas and they are not watered down. Event/Wedding: The venue is beautiful, rustic, and very charming. The wedding was wonderful the only thing is you're by the highway and an airport so their is a bit of noise BUT thankfully during the wedding ceremony there was only one or two very short times where there was noise. The bartender and servers for the wedding were excellent! They really know how to handle and work with drunk people (I was sober). The music and lights we great and they helped with setting up the tables for the reception. Parking: It might seem like there isn't a lot of park in the front BUT if you drive around to the back there's a pretty big lot. I highly recommend!

Yelp
I had no issues with the food. In fact, it was very good. My problem was with the waiter. For someone who claimed he worked in restaurants in Europe, he was from Montenegro; he lost that European culture of dining. Instead he embraced the unfortunate American habit of turning tables. After our meal and dessert, we sat with our friends catching up. They were from out of town. Our waiter decided we sat long enough and actually told us he needed to make from for other guests, though there were empty tables elsewhere. But obviously not in his section. It would call that rude.

Marlen G.

Yelp
Peter is an amazing man and makes each person that eats at 94th feel special. Thank you for all you do.
google avatar

Marilyn G.

Yelp
Great food, great views and great service! We went around 6pm and saw the sunset, it was perfect. Each table has headphones to hear the air traffic controller
google avatar

Elisabeth N.

Yelp
We enjoyed this place. Passed by this place so many times., finally got a chance to try out Everything was super delicious. The Churrassco was excellent. The steak was grilles to perfection. The scampi noodle dish was great, maybe a little to much of the sauce. For dessert we had coconut flan and cheese cake whis was fantastic. If you around this area stop at this restaurant and have a bite to eat
google avatar

Lisa P.

Yelp
Love their Sunday brunch and unlimited mimosa. Only one thing I don't like much that too loud live music. Summer time you should seat inside unless you want enjoy very hot Florida sun and humidity. You can see all the airplanes landing and taking off. That is best part of view from the restaurant!

Judy H.

Yelp
I worked with Silmara at the restaurant to plan a group dinner for 20 people. From start to finish, she was professional, helpful and thorough. The night of the event was seamless. Service was excellent and fast. The food was amazing. The group so enjoyed the unique restaurant. I'm very appreciative for such a great experience.

Yelp
Go for the brunch, what are you waiting for??? Sundays, opens at 10am. Omelette station, waffles, Prime rib, Snow crab legs. Best part - all the mimosas you can drink. I think I had too much.
google avatar

April S.

Yelp
This place is a really cool restaurant. Right across from the airport. They have head sets on the wall where you can hear traffic controllers. The food was really good. My complaint was the service. They were having a wedding the day we came, which is fine. However, I feel like the staff was more concerned on when the wedding party was coming. What was going on with the wedding. So much that our service lacked big time. We could see our waiter just hanging out with other staff just talking and looking around. Our two kids ordered their drinks and they only brought one drink back. We had to get up from our table and go over to our waiter and remind him we were missing a kid's drink.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
A Miami Staple. I had not been here in quite sometime. Took my mom for a nice dinner and indeed it was. Place is all decorated for holiday season. They even have a Winter Spice Menu that includes an app, entree, and dessert for about $49. Be sure to arrive early and get a nice spot by the window so you can see the planes. The beer cheese soup in heavenly. I would have like a huge bowl of this. It's a must try and included in the winter spice menu. Lovely meal and time was had. Service is great and our churrascos were delicious. We finished the night with cappuccinos and the house made coconut flan. Yum yum. Then we walked around the property playing tourist taking pics and watching the planes. This place gets busy during the season with weddings and holiday parties but there is ample non cost Parking everywhere. The restaurant part is very quiet. There is a lounge adjacent to the restaurant that some nights have live band.
google avatar

Martin Z.

Yelp
Reserved a table for Sunday brunch. It is a all you can eat buffet style restaurant, that offers all types of food such as meats, seafood, salads and many types of dessert . The plates I enjoyed all tasted good and the service was good. If you're a fan of aeronautics and buffet style food it is a really cool place to check out. The ambiance is dated and has some cool headphones hanging around the walls that allows you to listen to air traffics control while you dine in. They are closed on Monday's.
google avatar

Eloy S.

Yelp
Some of their food I like others is okay. Service is okay and ambience depends on where you sit.
google avatar

Breanna V.

Yelp
The service was amazing and each plate that my family ordered was impressively good. This restaurant has the perfect view of the planes taking off, and they even have headphones scattered around where you can hear the air traffic controllers! It's definitely more upscale, and the vintage vibe makes it very cozy.

Miriam C.

Yelp
We went to eat two Cesar salad and two waters and the bill was over $75 dollars that's absurd! Will never go there again. I know things are bad but there is no reason to pay $27 for a salad and $12 for a bottle of water. Not even in a high end place you pay $12 for a water, really dissatisfied with the outrageous pricing on this place ! People be aware of the prices they are out of control !

Barbara G.

Yelp
Ok the lady in the front name Christina charming for 4 adults and 1 kids and we actually are 2 adults and 2 kids The bill was 219.00 dollars when it supposed to be less than that . I give 2 stars because the food was good and the attention from the waiter was excellent

Yelp
Fantastic food and service. Ambiance is very unique with the view to the main runway of MIA.

Yelp
Been here many times... love it. The ambiance and the food are great. The view phenomenal. The staff is attentive. Great date spot.
