"Need a place to hang for 5 hours? Dive in! 97 Estoria is the local dive bar/music venue located directly across from the Krog Tunnel. Are you a Mastodon fan!? (the band, not the extinct prehistoric wooly creature)- you might just bump into their lead singer/guitarist Brent Hinds here. This goes without saying but, don’t bother ordering Pepsi, they only serve Coke here." - 3 Owl Media
"This Cabbagetown dive bar is similar to all the others on this guide, except for their huge patio and better-than-average bar food. The patio is the biggest draw, even though it’s just a gravel area with a few mismatched patio furniture sets. It’s typically filled with industry workers, people who carry around 35mm cameras, and groups debating which indie band is the latest to sell out. If the patio is full (it almost always is), you can still slide into a creaky wooden booth inside and sip a cheap domestic beer beneath twinkling string lights. Don’t forget to snag a burger dripping in cheese or one of their many vegetarian options like a tangy falafel wrap." - juli horsford
"This Cabbagetown dive bar has better-than-average bar food and a patio that’s always bumping. Their double-patty burger with russian dressing and melty american cheese could compete in a dive bar burger contest and not be embarrassed. The big patio is the biggest draw though, despite being just a gravel area with a few mismatched patio furniture sets. It’s typically filled with industry workers, people who carry around 35mm cameras, and groups debating which indie band is the latest to sell out. If the patio is full (it almost always is), you can still slide into a creaky wooden booth inside and sip a cheap domestic beer beneath twinkling string lights that are up year-round. Food Rundown Wings If you’re doing wings, skip the disappointingly bland lemon pepper and opt for their hot version. Soy Ginger Chicken If this is on the menu (it’s one of their staples, so it usually is), get it. The fried chicken thigh pulls apart easily and is smothered in a soy ginger garlic sauce that gives it a nice kick. Pickled carrots add a good tang to the whole sandwich. Hot Italian Sub This sub is loaded down with ham, salami, and pepperoni and topped with a slice of melted provolone. There is a little bit of lettuce, a few onions, and italian dressing, but the main draw here are the meats, which are very good. We’d still choose the soy ginger chicken over this sandwich, but it’s a nice alternative. Estoria Burger If you’re in a burger mood, this won’t disappoint. It’s got all the ingredients you’d expect on a burger, plus a russian dressing that gives it a fun zippy flavor. It’s a greasy dive bar burger that we always order if the night is going to run long." - Juli Horsford
"This chill dive bar in Cabbagetown offers plenty of seating both inside and outside on the tree-covered deck and patio beside the building. Beer, wine, cocktails, Fernet shots, and classic bar food have all made 97 Estoria a popular neighborhood hangout for years now." - Denise K. James
"There might not be anything better than a pimento cheese and fried green tomato sandwich on a summer’s evening in the A paired with a cold beer or a cocktail from this dive-y bar in the heart of Cabbagetown." - Beth McKibben
