"Use your spare bucks at this cash-only Vietnamese spot located just steps away from Hoover High the next time you’re wanting crispy chả giò (egg rolls). Other notable takeout options include bánh mì (the favorite is bánh mì thịt nguội with cold cuts, pate, and thinly sliced vegetables), rice vermicelli noodles, and filling rice plates. The sandwiches are particularly large and shareable, which make their $12 price-point all the more reasonable." - Roxana Becerril, Candice Woo

"Primarily a takeout shop, this no-frills spot makes its own pate, ham, and other deli meats used for its sandwiches filled with generous portions of protein, cilantro, and pickled daikon. It’s also known for its hefty fried egg rolls made two ways: wrapped with a wonton wrapper or in rice paper for that distinctive bubbly look." - Helen I. Hwang

Google
Very excellent. Manager was welcoming to first time visitor. Cash only! No mayo in charbroiled pork sandwich! Everything looks super fresh, too, and he talked up their Vietnamese coffee.

Google
I didn't know much about vietnamese food until I started asking questions, the owner and the sons working were very helpful. Immaculate food Solid, quick service Plenty of options Helpful when asked questions Egg rolls are the staple, the Bahn Mi's are really good

Google
The service was exceptional and compel me to write this review. Was my first time here with my wife to get a Vietnamese sandwich. The sandwich was very good but I was more impressed with the service. My wife wanted to buy a rice wine but was uncertain. The cashier (I assume the owner) said try it. She took a sip and it was buttered..my wife offered to buy it as she had already tasted it. The cashier said, no…I can’t sell you something that don’t taste right. Most Asian business would have forced my wife to buy it. His action prove to me the character of this place. I would definitely come back and recommend to all my friends! Please keep up the great service! Again, thank you for the exceptional service.

Google
They have the ultimate banh mi. They use chicken legs and freshly baked. The buns are fresh as they can get. It’s costs more than other places but they not like other places. Certainly worth it.

Darvin

Google
I bought 4 egg rolls, fried chicken and rice on 10/05/2024. Who ever was prepping the sauce which I believe was for the egg rolls didn't wear a hairnet or was careless because I found a 2 inch hair in the sauce! Look closely at the picture next to the sauce cup. I took the hair out of that little cup sauce. NASTY!!

Google
Best Vietnamese egg rolls!! My mom makes the best lumpia/ egg rolls, and these are the only other egg rolls that I crave besides hers! These are unique and different from egg rolls you'd normally get at a pho restaurant. They are bigger with more meat, like lil fat dog egg rolls haha, and have a very crispy wrapper. I always get the dipping sauce for them. I usually get these to treat my coworkers, and they love them. I also order their meatball skewers as well as the spring rolls with meat and crunchy wrapper inside. The owner(I assume) is very straightforward, not very talkative, but after going in a bunch he's become my dude! Parking can be a pain during mid day. They open early, so that's when I've been going. The store front is small, but has a couple of tables to eat at. Service is quick even if there is a little line ahead.

Google
I love this place. Parking sucks, it’s cash only, they can be pretty surly but oh man those egg rolls. Also one of the better Banh Mi in town and the price is right. One of my go to spots. Park on the street to save yourself a hassle.

Brett LaCues

Google
This place does have some of the best egg rolls and they're cheap. $.70 or $.90 depending on the wrap. Perfect to bring to a party. The other food was good too and well priced. It's cash only. There's an ATM at the market across the street. The only negative is the parking. It's very limited and not much street parking.

Yelp
A-Chau checks all the boxes for me when we looked for banh mi sandwiches and Vietnamese snacks. We liked it so much we went twice when we were visiting the area. We got banh mi dac biet which was full of meat, fresh, and delicious. We also got Eggrolls and soy here (not pictured) but those were great as well. It's cash only here so make sure ya have that handy - service is quick and ambiance is well, a typical Vietnamese snack place, but ya won't be disappointed because the food is great!

Yelp
I've seen A chau a bunch of times on my way to Minh Ky.  I stopped in and bought $10 worth of fried chicken wings and a leg quarter. Fried chicken wings were warm from the warming tray.  Skin was crunchy.  Chicken was tender and the salt and pepper seasoning gave the wings a delicious flavor.  Very good wings.  I think they would be awesome if you could get them fresh out of the fryer. Leg quarter looked like it was cooked on a rotisserie.  A tiny bit was burnt.  The rest was nice and tender.  From the color it looked like it was heavily marinated but the flavor was light.  I'd prefer it was marinated longer.  Costco chicken has alot more flavor. I'd return for the delicious fried chicken wings but I wouldn't get the leg quarter again

Yelp
Been searching for a reliable Banh Mi spot and this hit the mark. With all the rave reviews about the cha gio I had to come see for myself. This was on Sunday late morning. It's your classic no frills Mom & Pop shop with lots of offerings. Food to-go, catering, banh mi, drinks and snacks. I order a Banh Mi Cha Lua sans Jalapeño, two of each cha gio and one Patêchaud. Banh Mi was lightly toasted, nice crunch but still soft bread and it was loaded with meat and condiments. I could have done with less butter/Mayo. Cha gios were too meaty for me. They would be perfect in a rice noodle salad with fish sauce dressing. Patêchaud was lack luster. Meat to pastry ratio was good, but taste was not there. It's Cash Only which limited me to ordering more things to try. The owner was all business, but the was a cute fella at the counter who seemed friendly. I ended up eating there and observed they had a steady flow of customers streaming in for to-go orders. So happy to have stumbled across this spot near me. Will be patronizing at least once a month!

Yelp
my eggroll was over fried hard like a rock nasty they dont throw it away but sale it to the customer wtf cheap as owner doesn't trash bad egg roll! $1.50 each i had to pay

Lindsay N.

Yelp
Decided to stop by after shopping in the area! Parking for this restaurant isn't the best but I was able to find one nearby. It's a little pricey but the quality is great and they don't skimp on the portions. I ordered the S2 and 2 S10. S2: I love cha lua and have grown up eating it and it was my favorite type of meat to eat with banh mis. I usually add soy sauce to my cha lua banh mi, so a part of me wishes it cMe with it! I added some when I got home and it was perfect! It only had one slice of jalapeño but it was SO spicy my face immediately turned red. I ended up taking the rest of the jalapeño out. S10: My parents really liked the dac biet banh mi, and they had a great portion. It didn't seem or look half filled at all. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
Egg rolls so nice and crisp on the outside, inside ingredients with good amount of protein. Spring rolls were also very fresh and delicious, peanut sauce was the best I've had.

Susie T.

Yelp
Not really sure why this place has decent stars. I've lived down the street from this place for over a decade and I've gone to this place a handful of times a limg time ago. I drive by this place on my way to eat hoai hue. Hoai hue BTW is excellent. Best bun bo hue in San diego. I remember the fried springrolls here being soooooo much cheaper but I understand the growing prices due to inflation and everything costing an arm and leg to make. I got the fried spring rolls and it was 2.40 a piece. I am sorry but I've been a chef and cook forever and it's not anymore work than a regular eggroll. I often make these fried spring rolls at home and I even ADD SHRIMP. OK, let's just get over the price. These eggrolls are really salty. I also got banh mi and the bread was soggy. I don't even add the pickles. I always get them on the side. I definitely will have to air fry the banh mi when I get home and add mayo bc ite so flavorless and dry. However the cashier guy is quick. He may have an unwelcoming gesture but he's fast at his job. Maybe I should expect these things from a mom and pop food to go. I'd never buy here again just bc it's unethical to charge that much for a fried spring roll that takes the same amount of time for a regular eggroll that they sell for 1.40.

Eunice H.

Yelp
Love this establishment for your viet food/snack cravings! They have everything from banh mi sandwiches, to steamed buns, egg rolls, rice plates, freshly prepared hot food bar, Vietnamese desserts, drinks, and even Vietnamese condensed milk yogurt! I especially loved their beef bánh mi. The bread is warm and crispy/chewy, the veggies are perfectly pickled, the beef is bursting with flavor. Their egg rolls are also top notch, super crispy and flavorful, stuffed with goodness. Prices are amazing for the authentic quality you get! There's a free small parking lot right outside. Remember CASH ONLY.

Michael G.

Yelp
Whenever we dine at our favorite soup place in this area we always make a stop at this place ACHAU for 2 things, their Eggroll and Banh Mi. Their Eggrolls here are really good and very crispy and the meat inside is so delicious and very well seasoned, I tried all their Banh Mi here too and everything was good so far. The only thing I have not tried here is their desserts , looking forward to try them next time. Parking is not good here , not only its very small , some wont even follow the direction of the parking

Cuc N.

Yelp
We get takeout here routinely when we visit San Diego and our favorites are their Vietnamese sandwiches and egg rolls. They have a larger menu compared to other Vietnamese deli shops such as noodles and fried chicken. Egg rolls are slightly pricey at $1.50 but definitely worth the money! They are packed the delicious filling and just so crunchy and crispy. Moist and flavorful inside. Bread is thinly crunchy and soft and flaky. Filling for the sandwiches are always generous and flavorful. They're delicious, what can I say! Pros: -delicious sandwiches with a lot of pate and a lot of butter -yummy egg rolls -quality ingredients -fresh pickled vegetables -larger menu with more options Cons: -cash only Tip: Bring cash! They are cash only

Yelp
CASH ONLY (still) (2 stars) I guess this place is know for their cheap price on trays of fried Vietnamese eggs rolls. I haven't had one of them in a long time but they are popular, hefty, and a lot of people love them. I came here because i thought getting Spring Rolls in Little Saigon was going to be convenient. WELL, more like INconvenient. The tiny parking lot in this plaza was a hotmess. People double parking, moving trucks blocking the exit, people not knowing how to park. It's small and super crammed. I was fortunately to get quick parking. As u walked inside I saw "CASH ONLY" and walked around the plaza asking if there was an ATM anywhere near by. There is NOT. So I got back in my car and drove several blocks to the Arco (on Fairmont & El Cajon) to get cash (didn't use ATM but buy something and then pull cash for $1.50 fee). Then went back to the plaza and deal with the annoying parking fiasco. Upon entry there were many people waiting for their orders or in line about to order. It also is super crammed inside. I was in a mission to be in and out. Grabbed the last pre-prepped Spring Rolls and a Coconut Pie (2 mini pieces). :: FOOD :: BANG XEP DUA (Coconut Pie) - cute two little pies. But they were dry AF. Meh. GOI CUON (Spring Roll) - this was somewhere sound ~$8 dollars and didn't feel it was worth that price for 3 spring rolls. I was too lazy to make my own and coughed up money for average tasting spring rolls. The shrimp in the spring roll were so small. The vegetables weee fine but I think they out eat too much mint STEMS that some bites were very bitter. De-stem the damn mint! Gag. The sauce was super thick but it was good and I liked how after dunking the spring roll it stuck on lime jam. I think I'll make my own or go elsewhere next time. I'm not too crazy about this place like.

Maggie O.

Yelp
I swung by to pick up some eggrolls and some of their goods. I did end up having to go to the bank to get cash since they are a cash only place! Egg rolls - $1.50 ish each, they were a little salty but still overall good. Banh Da Lon - Super yummy as expected! It was around $4 which I think is average price. Service was great and the guy helping us put our things to the side for us when we had to go get cash. I guess it happens often nowadays as he waa quick to offer! Will definitely be back to try out some of their other things like their Banh Mi!

Yelp
Great food and service. What a great find!!!! Fresh food with great prices! And we can't wait to get a catering tray for our next party!!!

Tim S.

Yelp
Last time here, I got sick. Hadn't been back in years, but my buddy recommended we stop here on the way home for some egg rolls. Fine by me! We went with 12 egg rolls total between us. It was about $18.00 ($1.50 per egg roll pretty much) total. They boxed them up and we ate them right there in the little shop. How were they? Bomb! These egg rolls are the best! Filled with pork filling and some carrots, wrapped in a rice paper roll, fried perfectly. These egg rolls were piping hot and you could tell they were fresh. Tons of people were getting egg rolls to go in massive quantities. I can see why! These things are like crack! So damn good! Besides that early morning visit that got me sick, I have had nothing but great egg rolls from here and will continue to come back (just not in the morning lol).

Yelp
Á Châu is one of the institutions in what is now San Diego's Little Saigon District (aka City Heights) that is known for one product... fried rice paper spring rolls. Back in the day, they were as cheap as $0.50 each. The current price is well over $1 apiece. They are fried in batches and kept warm under a heat lamp, but these addicting snacks sell quickly. Besides the unique use of rice paper, the ratio of filling to wrapper was terrific. They were loaded with minced pork meat and veggies. I have found them to be very popular at picnic/potluck events. Besides their signature item, banh mi sandwiches, bun (rice vermicelli), fried chicken wings, and other miscellaneous goods were sold here. The parking lot had limited spaces that were shared with other businesses in the same small plaza. If you come at the wrong time of the day, then it can be a hassle. There were some tables inside, but they were being used for storage as opposed to on-site dining. Payment is still cash only so bring sufficient bills with you.

Jenny V.

Yelp
We made a quick run to A-Chau to get some Vietnamese food. The food is ready to pick up and go. I tried their egg rolls, they were flavorful however a little too greasy for me. I don't think we'll be coming back to this place again, however if you're in the area and in a hurry this is a fast place to and go. They have parking in the back of the shopping center just incase there is no parking in the front.

Linda T.

Yelp
Fast service for banh mi. We order the veggies on the side so we can eat them later. The portion is generous and good for $7 a sandwich. The egg rolls are also very large and full of meat. I was not a fan of their Vietnamese coffee. It was far too sweet and did not have the strong coffee flavor you're suppose to have from a drip. The do not take card so come ready with cash and there is not an atm there.

Angie C.

Yelp
I NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS THOUGHT ID HAD TO UPDATE MY REVIEW HERE-- just know everything I'm about to write was written with a sad, heartbroken, and hungry conscience . I'm going to start off by saying I am not bashing on this business at all-- think of it as constructive criticism (: For years we supported A Chau and sent them so much business . Anytime someone would ask me where to get a banh mi or Eggrolls in SD-- id always send them here . The special banh mi was our go-to . Always jammed packed with meats, veggies, and LOVE . I'd only eat half because it was soo plentiful and filled me up-- and I'd always save the other half for later . The eggrolls were always fresh, crispy, and flavorful . Unfortunately, the last three visits were underwhelming . The first time this happened-- I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt ....but underwhelming for the past THREE VISITS is just unacceptable. Shame on me for giving them that many chances . Customer service was fine-- today I was the only one there at 10am Monday morning; I crossed my fingers hopping the last two sad sandwiches was because it was too busy, but that just wasn't the excuse . The special sandwich the last three times were really sad . I can't even go into detail without crying lol . I left a photo for comparison to my last review from a year ago . This latest one especially looked malnourished, unhappy, and didn't even have jalapeños (I'm sobbing) . Let's just say I ate the entire banh mi today and I was still starvingggg-- wait, WHAT ? The latest eggrolls from them were okay . I just feel like they went from MAGICAL TO MEDIOCRE . Don't get me wrong, the filling was still fire-- but not as FLAME as they used to be . You should go read my old review if you're here lol . Overall, it's an unfortunate affair . I completely understand the price increase--like if you're going to raise your prices, keep your quality the same . (I mean a small Starbucks is $10 now-- but it still tastes and looks the same !). I do love how A Chau updated their menu to an electronic screen now-- good for you ! I used to dream about A Chau banh mi and eggrolls and crave them on the daily-- this won't be the case moving forward . I honestly feel like I'm breaking up with the love of my life right now-- for those of you who know me in real life.. you know lololol

Yelp
This is CASH ONLY! Great prices for what they give you. Food comes out quick. I ordered the Cha Lua (Vietnamese Meat Loaf) and Pate Sandwich. They give you massive amounts of Cha lua I was so shocked at how thickly cut it was. I'm so happy! Great smear of pate as well. The thickness of the jalapeño surprised me. The dau chua was perfectly pickled and so delicious. The cilantro leaves were big as well and tasted good with the sandwich. Bread is crunchy but not painful, if you know what I mean. Next time (personal preference) I'll ask for no maggi (too salty), no onion, and no jalapeño. They have seating here to eat (limited). And they have xoi here (sticky rice). And egg-rolls, , chicken, drinks, che, and more! I'll come back for sure for more sandwiches. I highly recommend this place!

Richie F.

Yelp
A Chau Egg Rolls - 5/5 Bahn Mi Chicken - 4/5 Bahn Mi Beef - 4/5 Best egg rolls I've ever had? This little hole in the wall in Little Saigon never disappoints! Do yourself a favor and order extra egg rolls! I even threw one in my Bahn Mi Sandwiches have great flavor. I preferred the beef and my wife preferred the chicken. Be aware - this spot is CASH ONLY

Ken A.

Yelp
A-Chau is now my go to place for Bahn mi sammiches! I got the ham special and the charbroiled pork Bahn Mi. Though the sandwiches were a bit smaller than others I've had, they were nicely stuffed with filling and the baguette was also nicely toasted. I also got 20 rice paper egg rolls. They were very good...crispy, chewy, meaty. Be informed, they only have the fish sauce for dipping but you can buy a bottle of sweet chili sauce to go. I'll be back and when I do, I hope they have a few more hot foods ready for me to try.

Nolita N.

Yelp
I feel like I've always grown up hearing about their egg rolls -- and they always make an appearance at get togethers/parties lol. I decided to grab a couple as a snack since I was in the area recently and I was so happy I did because they were delicious and crunchy as always. I do wish there was some sort of sauce that was given with them, but even on their own, they were still BOMB. I got four of them for about $6 and some cents. The price on things definitely have gone up sadly. I want to go back and order one of their sandwiches next time because I have heard good things about it. Service -- it's definitely a grab-and-go vibe with quick service! The man helping us was very nice. They are a cash only place, so keep that in mind when you go.

Nick C.

Yelp
This place was delicious! Their egg rolls were amazing. I loved the texture and everyone around me was ordering them by the dozens. Make sure you ask for the vinagre to dip them into. What's not pictured was their bbq pork bahn mi, which was also delicious. The lemon grass is pops in the pork. If I could use the bread from Paris bakery and the bbq pork from here it would be the best bahn mi in SD. Highly recommended! FYI it's cash only.

Lisa W.

Yelp
Their Eggrolls are still good, stuffed with pork and fried to perfection. You don't even need sweet and sour or any dipping sauce. Price is definitely higher than what it used to be, but hey, that's inflation. It's more than $1ish. Haven't tried their banh mi or other food items, but I'm sure it's good. The parking lot sucks. The worst! Even worst than a Trader Joe's parking lot. Cash only.

Quinn P.

Yelp
My go to spot in San Diego for their rice paper egg rolls! I also recommend their bahn mi and their meatball skewer! Their Vietnamese iced coffee is a must get. Service is fast and easy! Just remember it's cash only. There's a couple of tables inside but it's definitely more of a grab and go kinda spot.

Johnderson V.

Yelp
One of the oldest banh mi shop in San Diego. Plenty of parking late afternoon but no motorcycle parking. Can't forget their famous egg roll

Jo C.

Yelp
I thought this place looked promising since it was busy during weekdays lunch hour. The combo plate tasted good initially full of flavor and not too greasy. However as I kept eating I realize the meat is not as tender as I wanted and worst of all I found a piece of hair intertwined in the meat, gross! The banh mi was meaty but overall the sandwich was pretty bland, dry and not that great. Service was excellent, cashier was helpful and patient which is why I gave it more than 1 star. Prices are good for the food you get but I don't think I'll be back after this incident.

Kathryn T.

Yelp
I had to come here to try the eggrolls. I had seen an Instagram video talking about how it's a local favorite for delicious cheap eggrolls. At the current price of $1.50/eggroll I wouldn't say it's "cheap" , they are kinda small but also PACKED with meat/filling. It's CASH ONLY so bring $$. And it's totally a hole in the wall/ mom and pop type place so expect no frills. There are tables to enjoy your food and it is clean! The man at the counter was happy to answer the question I had. They have other food items as well like fried chicken, another eggroll that just has a regular eggroll wrapper va the rice paper wrapper. I would definitely love to come back and try more things. If you buy a whole tray of the eggrolls you get a better deal, but I was by myself so I stuck to just 3. It was delicious but I do wish it came with some sauce. Not sure if the try comes with sauce or not.

Andrew C.

Yelp
We stopped by this spot for a quick eat and it didn't disappoint. They have these deliciously crispy and salted fried egg rolls for only a $1.50 a piece, along with banh mis and other Vietnamese dishes. This place is cash only though!

Vivan T.

Yelp
We tried their famous rice paper egg rolls despite how expensive they are AND the size is smaller than a standard egg roll. My Vietnamese family all agreed there wasn't anything extraordinary about them and thought they were too salty and too sweet.

Michael V.

Yelp
The egg rolls are amazing! . I went for thanksgiving day because they are a must have at my family gatherings and they were fast and friendly.

Darvin O.

Yelp
I found a piece of hair about inch. IL never comeback just for that reason, I highly recommend you check your food when ordering from here.

Sayonara T.

Yelp
A-Chau is known for their eggrolls..they are A1 first class! Today I decided to venture out and try their wings, best decision! They are so good and juicy. The service as always is great! We were greeted as soon as we walked in and didn't have to wait. You can eat there if you like as well. It is cash only so pleaae make sure to bring your cash because you are going to want to try everything!

Grace N.

Yelp
The hype is real! The eggrolls really are the best I've had. They're crispy and full of meaty filling, perfectly seasoned. A-Chau has two types of egg rolls: the original egg roll skin and the rice paper egg roll skin that blisters when fried. Both are fantastic! As of today, each egg roll is around $1.45/roll. The price has gone up over the years, but it's well worth it to support a small, locally owned business! Remember to bring cash!

Joey G.

Yelp
Amazing food! The Banh Mi's are great and the eggs rolls are a must! Best eggs rolls in San Diego !

Jacqueline R.

Yelp
Oh, A-Chau, we live so far away from you now! :( But that doesn't mean we won't drive all the way over to you to get those delectable, deliciously decadent eggrolls!! There really is no "ambiance" because it's a small place but the service is super quick, you're out fast. The parking may be horrendous, but we know this and mentally prepare ahead of time ,:D. I can't really say much about anything else they have on the menu because the eggrolls win out every time.

Kathy M.

Yelp
I was searching for the best banh mi in San Diego and A-Chau came up many times. There were a handful of places to choose from but we just decided to go here because it was on our way to the beach. First and foremost, the crispy egg rolls ARE worth the hype. I wasn't able to eat them until an hour later but they were still crispy and tasted fresh! It's salty but still very satisfying. I got the thit nuong banh mi (charbroiled pork) and it was yums. The pork was soft and tender, seasoned well. All the fixings are a must (pickled carrots, cucumber, jalapeno, cilantro), the mayo was more "light" than what I'm used to. Since I didn't get to eat it until an hour later, the bread wasn't crispy anymore. It was soft and still tasted great. My bf got the special banh mi (cold cuts). He said it was missing one of the meats he typically enjoys but it was still good. I had a bite and I liked it! We also ordered steamed pandan and mung bean cake and red sticky rice (xoi gac). They were both very tasty! I've never had red sticky rice with mung bean and sugared peanuts before. Overall, everything was solid.

Jeff F.

Yelp
My second time here and I stepped in for a couple of egg rolls ($1.35 each) since I was in the area. These remain to be flaky, crispy, and savory with a hint of soy sauce and maybe a dash of fish sauce, 8/10 rating. A tray of these would be a great side dish or appetizer at a party. I've tried the chicken wings and Vietnamese iced coffee before, and they were decent, 7.5/10. The service is standard, and the small parking lot is always at full capacity during my visits. Next time, I will have to order a sandwich, skewered meatballs, and a rice plate.

Kristen W.

Yelp
Got their rice paper egg rolls for a party and unfortunately everyone agreed the egg rolls were way too salty. The filling was ok and not memorable. To place a party tray order, had to call a few days in advance. Place is cash only. Parking lot is small and quickly fills up.

Rachelle C.

Yelp
Whenever my family are in the area, this is our go to spot to buy the imperial rolls.

Sandra C.

Yelp
Have not been here for six years. Eggrolls that were 50cents each are not $1.35 each and look smaller to me, but they are still amazing....crunchy, even after sitting for a while and tasty. Five stars for eggrolls. Pork banh mi was not as amazing...the meat was not quite grilled as I would have liked and I had no aoili or mayo in my Vietnamese sandwich! it was made really fast though. Cash only.

Kathleen T.

Yelp
Okay went back by popular demand. 2nd time was much better! The eggrolls were more flavorful and my co worker who picked them up for the office said they were ready before open and let her in for pick up earlier. It was nice of them. Ambiance is grab and go

Gordon D.

Yelp
Their sandwiches are packed with meat and veggies, probably more on the meat side than your typical bahn mi shop. They are very generous with their Maggie sauce and Vietnamese mayo. If you're looking to deck out your banh mi like a New York deli sandwich, this would be the place! I got their cold cuts ham combo sandwich with some of their crispy egg rolls.

TeTe B.

Yelp
nooells 5h Highlights ... Tuesday afternoon at 2pm: One tray of egg rolls and ONLY two hot food items. Customer service ( if you want to call it that) was very dismissive. I was standing looking at the person at the counter. He is having a discussion about LA traffic as if I was invisible. I asked about additional hot items. He just said "no.... Get a sandwich ". I ask the price of the small egg roll. He reply's (not even looking my way " one dollar and 40". Maybe he was having a bad day. But that was about as bad of service I got from an annoyed woman ( apparently she was annoyed I asked for a menu. Then snatched it back when i handed it back) at the #songhuong across he street from #achau. Personally I feel there are way better and cleaner restaurants that are pleasant and actually want your business.

Yelp
A wise man once said, "Everybody get your roll on, everybody getcha motherFin' roll on, what!" Although I don't quite think the Big Tymers were talking about A-Chau, they very well could have been. A-Chau is known far and wide for their absolutely show-stopping egg rolls. These aren't just any egg rolls. These are crispy, savory, bubbly, sausage filled 'chunk-muffins' fit for any and every occasion. BTW they do have 2 kinds of egg rolls so be sure to get the bubbly ones. Parking is absolutely dreadful; I mean it is downright awful. There is a small parking lot with small, diagonal spaces that can make getting in and out very troublesome for some folks. Even when it appears that a spot is opening up, be prepared to wait for someone to make a 37 point turn to get out of it. Lucky for you, the egg rolls will definitely make up for it. I've been coming here for years. I can't tell you how long, but I know the egg rolls were 50 cents or less at that point. Now, they're about $1.33 ea. I picked up 30 for the Eagles game and it was $40. Let me just tell you, everyone at the party was raving about these egg rolls. Not that I expected any less because they, I aim to please. CASH ONLY CASH ONLY CASH ONLY CASH RULES EVERYTHING AROUND ME CREAM GET THE MONEY If you're going to get like 70+ egg rolls, I'd recommend calling ahead of time. Otherwise you shouldn't even have to wait. They've always got these bad boys on deck. The inside is very small with only a couple of tables. This is primarily a take-out joint. I hear they have excellent Bánh mì. They do have an assortment of other delicacies as well so check them out. Just don't forget the egg rolls, aiiight! Thanks to the fine folks at A-Chau! ENJOY

Yelp
After rough days at the construction site, there's nothing more comforting than sitting down with my family to a hearty meal from A Chau Food To Go. Their bánh mì thịt nướng is a consistently delightful remedy for the day's hard knocks. The meat is always exceptionally tender, bursting with savory flavors that tickle the taste buds with every bite. Coupled with bread that's the epitome of softness, it's a chewable delight that seems to melt the day's stress away. The vibrant crunch from the radishes, matched with the fresh cilantro, the sweet tang of carrots, and the fiery bite of jalapeños, truly brings the sandwich to life. And that kick of spice? Just the right pick-me-up I need. Moving on to the egg rolls - while they tread on just a bit too salty for my liking, they remain a guilty pleasure. Yes, they leave a slick of oil behind, but the flavor is undeniably good. The choice of traditional rice paper wrappers is a nod to authenticity I greatly appreciate, giving the rolls their signature texture and taste. A Chau is a place that turns a hard day into a fond memory with just a few bites - a testament to the power of good food and family."

Yelp
Yummy!! I had the charbroiled pork banh mi with extra mayo and extra jalapeños. The mayo is different from American mayo, but it has a nice savory flavor. I would repeat this exact order again. I also got the famous egg rolls, which did not disappoint! It was the crispiest egg roll I've ever had. People were constantly in & out and making HUGE orders of egg rolls! The price point is excellent as well. I think this very well may be the banh mi spot I frequent whenever I'm craving one.
