Yelp
I would give Pat (also known as Little Bit of Philly) a 1-star rating, simply because I don't want anyone ruining this gem of a place with their Miami hipsterness, but frankly it is out of driving distance from otherwise walkable downtown, and hipsters are so accustomed to the words 1 star review and next place, so I think we are safe there.
This wonderful place has a baker pride oven, a grill, and the most charismatic gentleman chef on planet earth. This is the kind of place you see on one of those TV shows, or with the Barstool Sports guy standing outfront saying it's the best cheesesteak he ever had. He even offered to marry me and my fiance as he is an ordained minister...
Growing up in New Jersey somewhere between Philly and NYC and moving to Miami about 6 months ago from DC, I have learned there are 3 things you can't quite get anywhere else in the world except there:
1. Pizza, Penne Vodka, Garlic Knots, etc...
2. Kosher Bagels
3. Cheesesteaks
Given that Pat is not Jewish, we will allow him a pass on #2. But damn does he get 1 and 3 just perfect. The funny thing is, my fiance refused to eat Cheesesteaks in Philadelphia, but now will consume, an entire cheesesteak in 3 minutes at Pat's shop. It's like the nathan's hot dog eat contest gone great in there...
It's a simple business model, charge roughly $10 for cheesesteak (frankly, I have no idea what it costs as he adds up what you bought not on a receipt but quickly in his head and tells you a seemingly random, yet unbelievably consistent amount), and since you just yell an order at him in the first place it seems like the proper way. He is also not one of those idiots that won't build a 3% credit card fee into his restaurant pricing, so you aren't stuck trying to go to an ATM for the first time in a decade if you don't want to...
Pat's kitchen is also relatively MTO. If you want say a fresh caught fish of some sort, Pat will go out with his fishing boat over the weekend, catch it, have it prepared, and ready to go on Monday (I am not actually sure he does this, I think he does buy from a great supplier, but frankly wouldn't surprise me for a second if he did)...
He also does awesome catering, and will even do private chef services starting at $10k a night (not really, but if he charged me that I'd probably be like ok, it's simply that good)...
Insider Tip: Hidden deep on his menu are his Hot Dogs. They are the gem of Pat's menu, and include a soda and chips or fries. Pat loves making them, and they are always in-stock due to their unbelievable popularity. Make sure you ask for a hot dog when you head there...
He also knows everyone in the city and got me a scorching deal on a new Bentley, and I'm in the car business, so thanks Pat!
