The 14 Best Restaurants In Madison, Wisconsin

"A Pig In A Fur Coat isn’t for the salad crowd. Come to this cozy, dimly lit Willy Street spot to have a heap of beef tartare served in a marrow bone, or funky gnocchi made from huitlacoche and topped with hedgehog mushrooms. Dishes are rich and the portions are large, which makes them great for splitting with a date. Go heavy on appetizers and pastas, definitely get a cocktail, and skip dessert for another cocktail, like the balanced, bitter, and spicy My Maria. The tables here are communal or spaced close together, so the strangers sitting next to you are definitely eavesdropping while you and your partner are comparing astrological charts. Was visiting from out of town for a work conference and really enjoyed my dinner here! Sat at the bar and immediately had great customer service. Bryson is the bartender and he made me feel welcomed and ít was like I was catching up with an old friend! Very delicious cocktails and food. I got the beef carpaccio, octopus and tortellini dish. All were worth it! Very farm to table vibe.

Google
Just the best restaurant ever. The servers and bartenders are so kind and helpful. The food was beyond excellent with many options for dietary restrictions. I sat at the bar when I ate and received the full service experience as if I had a table. Bartender knows his beer too!

Let me just say that this place is a vibe in itself, when you walk in; you’re almost walking into another world. The interior is absolutely gorgeous, it has such a romantic and cozy setting. My fiance and I came up to visit Madison just as a little day trip to just do what we do and this was the place we chose for dinner and it absolutely did NOT disappoint. We chose the Chef’s Choice 4-Course Meal- which is where you let the Chef’s choose what they want to serve you, no going back. Our first course, we received the Foie Gras Mousse which was INCREDIBLE, so flavorful as well as the Beef Carpaccio which was also insane with flavor. For the second course, we received the Yolk Filled Raviolo; one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. We also received the Parisian Gnocchi which you can tell is homemade, and it is quite delicious with the perfect flavoring. The third course, we received the Duck Filet which was cooked perfectly and flavorful and the other item we received was the Steelhead Trout which was perfectly plated and had some delicious flavor. For the fourth course, we received the Cheesecake and the Leigh’s Budino di Carmello, which was INCREDIBLE. It was flavorful and decadent but not heavy or overpowering. My fiance and I overall had an amazing time and would definitely recommend. I know I’ve said flavorful quite a few times but there isn’t enough to say about the food at Pig in a Fur Coat, everything we ate was enjoyable, delicious, full of flavor and absolutely amazing. We would definitely go back again and definitely make a reservation, it's totally worth it.

Google
We were there with a group and did the 4 course meal and it was an Amazing Experience, highly recommend! Everything was delicious, and got to try so many different dishes since it was served family style.

Google
A very intimate, high-end restaurant with delicious food. The seating is pretty limited so I would recommend making a reservation in advance. We ordered the focaccia which was amazing and was obviously freshly-made. I also ordered the aged ribeye and it was so tender. The sauce mixed with mushrooms elevated the steak and it was a very good dish. It is on the expensive side, but definitely worth it. Would definitely come again!

Google
It is a romantic and cozy setting but the food is not the best. I saw some reviews that say it's a high end food place but the food was my least favorite. There was not a single dish I could say was memorable/tasty so I would not come back. We had foccacia bread which was probably the best of all the dishes. The octopus came in a sort of cold gelo with lentils, an interesting mix but completely flavorless. Then had the foie gras which came on top of a donut hole with fig jam. Foie gras had no flavor and felt mostly like a whipped butter texture. Again an interesting mix of flavors but nothing that blows your mind. The presentation of the dishes is nice. Then tried the Gnocchi which was alright, crispy with some burrata cheese. Last we had the pork collar and the dry aged steak. The pork had a mix of cold/pickled vegetables and hot onion and grits, the hole mix was not flavorful at all. The steak itself was tasty and the mushrooms had balsamic vinegar, again it was just ok to my taste. Overall I don't think its worth the price as when I left I felt like nothing really stood out from what we tried. Therefore I would not recommend or come back.

Google
I went with a group of 4 and it was fun. We looked over the menu and decided to do the 4 course menu, where each person gets an appetizer, pasta dish, main entree, and dessert. The food was great and it was awesome to have each of them to share among ourselves, but what wasn't made clear is that they only brought out 3/4 of the mains. We thought they would come back with the 4th but it never arrived so when we asked they mentioned something about them being bigger plates and consolidating. Honestly I would have been ok with that if it was said upfront, and it was still enough food for all of us and worth it for the price, I just felt like it was a bit dishonest that when we get 4 4-couse meals there was no mention that we wouldn't have 4 mains. Other than that the experience and atmosphere were good, so just make sure to check that you will actually get what you are expecting as to not be disappointed

Google
Pig in a Fur Coat offers a fantastic dining experience. Most dishes come in small plates that you can share and in this way try everything. Especially, the pasta dishes are extremely good. Our last favorites were tortellini with a delicious rich sauce and risotto.

Yelp
TLDR: A MAGICAL place that brings my inner fat kid so much joy. We came here for their New Years Eve prefix dinner. I had been here several years ago when I worked a gig in Madison, and thought it was truly amazing without any of the pretension that comes with restaurants of this caliber. I forget birthdays and anniversaries but I'll #NeverForget their yolk filled raviolo. We had zero expectations bc we've literally never had an amazing prefix meal before--until NYE!! Even their salad was so fucking tasty! The Scallop Souffle was the fluffiest damn souffle I've ever had. The rich umami was so perfect with the koji brown butter... their Potato Filled Casoncelli was *chef's kiss*. The black truffle was just so incredibly tasty. It took everything in my bf to not lick the plate clean. He would've if the restaurant wasn't so packed! The Bison Wellington had the best demiglace sauce ever. Would've bathed in it if I could... We were SO FULL but SO SAD when the meal ended!!! I would happily give up my first born child for another meal there.

Yelp
I really love the name for starters. It reminds me of a place back home called the bourgeoisie piglet. It was a coffee shop designed like a cave. Super cool. Obviously this is different but pig in fur coat is epic. But I'll be quick apart from the excellent survive. Friendly smiles and a young lady who went above and beyond to get my order right. It was a parting gift for a friend. The munchies were delicious. Everything I ordered was on point. Very yummy. Can't wait to come by again.

Yelp
Giving this "really liked" status, maybe not quite to "love". Reserving that for the few faves I will go back to regularly. Don't get me wrong - you will have a great creative meal here. It's fun to sit outside on Willy St and watch people pass by. The menu is eclectic. Our server was really sweet and attentive. Totally worth a try and this might be your "love".

Yelp
I am very unsure how to review this place. My friend and I went here for the first time last night and it was kind of a mixed bag. The service and drinks were great and all three of the small plates/appetizers we got were STUNNING. The focaccia, tartare and foie gras were perfect and we were blown away. However, both of us got pasta that was... very mid. The raviolo was a strange preparation, considering it just had a slice of bacon on top and was drowning in parm and browned butter. It tasted just okay, but the preparation was odd and my friend also thought the tortellini was just okay. We also split the cheesecake and it was very very lackluster. So I'd say overall it's worth a stop here for the drinks and small bites alone, but maybe avoid the pasta and cheesecake.

Yelp
I stopped by on a Saturday evening for dinner. I reserved ahead of time, otherwise I may not have recieved a seat. I decided to go for the 4 course chef's tasting. It was $75. Essentially chef randomly picks 4 items from each course for you. So 2 different people picking it is probably going to get 2 sets of dishes. Dinner started with a complimentary duck liver mousse. This dish was very small, but had flavors. Then cam the first item, bison tartare with crostini. It had a raw feeling to it, as with all tartare. That was my least favorite item. Cavatelli was the next item. It was a very flavorful pasta with snails. Lamb belly was the entree item. It was a very fatty cut of lamb. The dish was very flavorful as well. Dessert course of the dinner was cheesecake, which was good as well. Overall I think the dining experience was worth it.

Yelp
expensive spot with a cute interior and outdoor seating - definitely draws an older crowd, most people were at least in their 30s. service was pretty impressive, although our server's spiel felt very well rehearsed. food was delicious, the focaccia goes CRazyyyyy. roasted garlic was infused into its layers, and the olive oil to dip in was perf. oreganata was not what i expected, since it was all mixed together and like placed on a shell? it was a little salty for my liking imo the raviolo was unlike anything i'd ever tasted and was just a gooey mess. the yolk breaking was so satisfying. the lamb belly was bigger than i thought but was super fatty. it was also on the expensive end ($45) so can't say i was a massive fan of this one tbh

Yelp
We came in on a Saturday night without reservations and were pleasantly greeted and told we could find seats at the bar. The bar was a little closed off and intimate; which was kind of nice. It felt like we were having a private meal. The bartenders were young and slightly pretentious in the best of hipster ways. They guided us through the menu and provided wonderful recommendations. We tried the foie gras mousse which was absolutely dreamy, albeit three bites. We then did the gnocchi. It was pillowy and rich. Delicious! Our least favorite was the beef tartare. It wasn't bad. Just nothing exceptional. They had a great list of interesting NA beverages at the bar. And a full bar and cocktail program that matched the complexity of their menu. It was a great experience although portions were on the smaller side. We opted to continue our evening elsewhere and find some additional food to fill us up after relishing in the flavors of the bites we tried here.

Yelp
Food is ok, attitude is not. If you're going to pay for a Michelin star experience, don't seat your guests in the back corner of a communal picnic table.

Yelp
Overrated and not memorable unfortunately. The food was nearly inedible in an effort to be inventive.

Yelp
A really cute restaurant with a warm, inviting atmosphere. Dishes are small but shareable. Drinks are STRONG, be warned (can be good or bad depending on the person)! I have to give it to them, the Salumi e Formaggi charcuterie board is one of the best cheese plates I have ever had. Every ingredient on there, from the salami to the crostini, to the cornichons (tiny pickles), to the mustard, and even the pate (!!) complimented each other perfectly. After having it here, I actually went home and bought each ingredient just to try to recreate the board we had here. Cannot recommend this dish more. We also got a couple of the pasta dishes. Everything is flavorful, but portions are too small. We had to order one more thing off the menu after our main meal because we were still hungry! Will be back again, my mouth is watering just thinking about that charcuterie board.

Yelp
This is a must stop for a nicer dinner in Madison. One of the best dinners. They have a tight menu featuring a handful of starters, 4 pastas and 4 entrees. Every dish hit the mark and more, but the gnocchi (featuring huitlacoche!) and bison short rib shouldn't be missed. We started with some focaccia, beets and foie gras mousse. I hadn't eaten much foie gras before and this is a super interesting appetizer to try. Sweet and savory. Beets and focaccia both incredible, and I also really enjoyed my cocktail. Then we shared the chitarra pasta and the gnocchi. Both great - with the chitarra being on the lighter side, and the gnocchi being highly flavorful and savory and delicious. The gnocchi looked slightly pan fried too so there is some crispiness to them. Perfect in every way. The entrees we ordered were the fish and the bison. The fish is lighter in flavor. I enjoyed the roe that came on top of it. The bison short rib was really one of a kind. So well prepared and the meat tasted so tender, despite being a leaner protein. This was a crowd favorite. Service was really attentive throughout the night and it was super relaxing sitting out on the patio with our dog! I'd definitely return here -- check out their sandwich shop next door as well.

Yelp
Great spot with creative dishes. Dining at Pig in a Fur Coat is always an experience. The beet salad had beets three ways. Definitely the best beets I've ever had. The dish was beautiful, creative, and refreshing. The octopus dish was so incredible that we ended up ordering two portions. I didn't love the bison tartare. The meat was too tough and stringy for a tartare and I would have preferred a classic beef. The egg yolk ravioli was delicious. A little heavy on the lemon. It's topped with a great piece of bacon, but the bacon being in a strip makes it hard to get all of the elements in one bite. The cavatelli was good, but probably my least favorite item of what we ordered. I ordered the Aww Nuts! cocktail, and it is the best cocktail I've had in ages! It seems tart at first, then the aftertaste is creamy and spiced. Truly a journey! We had the Foie Gras Mousse as our dessert, since it is on the sweeter side. it is buttery and a great last bite. We ended our meal with Irish cream and espresso. The espresso brought me right back to Europe. The Irish cream was great as well; I wish I remembered what brand it was! Can't wait to go back and try more items. I hope they bring back the jerk rabbit!

Yelp
Came in saturday after booking the reservation week in advance, instantly felt unwelcomed was sat at a shared hi top in the middle of the dinning room, told we couldnt do the 4 course experience because we didnt make a reservation. Was told we couldnt get a private table in a different section because we didnt specify. Now it was our first experience their, how am i supposed to know the 2 tops are for reserve only. Oh but wait i made the reservation a week in advance. The food tasted great the service was terrible. I me tioned a gluten allergy on the reservation as well to the watress multiple times and she continued to try to push the pastas on us. My girlfriend ended up having a terrible reaction from gluten later that night. Clearly this restaurant lacks any professionalism when it comes to accommodations to Allergies or advance reservations for first time diners. All in all it was terrible and i will not be coming back and will be telling everyone i know about the terrible experience.

Yelp
We had an excellent meal here. First make sure to have a reservation because this place is small. (Warning if you don't cancel by 8am the morning of they say they might charge you $25). Second know that it features "small plates" that are meant to be shared though the prices are not small (but the food is well worth it). The plates come out in a random order. From most delicious to pretty darn hood here is what we ate: 1. Yolk Filled Raviolo with ricotta, bacon, brown butter and Brussel sprouts - wow was that great. This was the biggest surprise of the night! 2. The Short Rib was tender with a sauce that was divine. 3. Foie Gras Mousse was creamy and subtle on a pastry that was airy. 4. The Risotto was good though a bit bland compared to the other dishes - it could have used more bacon! The service was very good - helpful in navigating their process and attentive. We will be back but I will make sure to study the menu ahead of time to make sure there are items of interest since it is small.

Yelp
First time at A Pig in a Fur Coat a few weeks ago and it did not disappoint. Favorite dish was the Yolk Filled Raviolo. The service was top notch. 1. Focaccia-roasted garlic, rosemary, olive oil, balsamic 2. Beef Tartare-Calabrian chili, onion, yolk, mustard seed, carta do musica 3. Yolk Filled Raviolo-ricotta, bacon, Brussels sprout, brown butter, parmigiano reggiano 4. Bison Short Rib-wild rice, mushrooms, cucumber, horseradish, dill 5-Chiffon Cake-strawberry, ricotta, pistachio

Yelp
Interesting menu with focus on quality ingredients. Great ambiance and delicious craft cocktails.

Yelp
A low key neighborhood spot with seriously good food that punches way above the weight you'd expect. The bar area is my favorite place to sit when it is available. I've been coming in about once year since they opened and it keeps getting better.
google avatar

Vicki Z.

Yelp
I was expecting an exceptional meal because of all the stories & reviews I had read. Unfortunately I did not care for the menu choices or the flavors of my meal.
google avatar

Donna L.

Yelp
Had an absolutely decadent meal here last night. There menu is a variety of smaller communal plates . Everything we had was so unusual but tasted delicious. My favorite was the ravioli with brown butter Brussel sprouts. We also had bison short ribs, beef tartar with bone marrow. Gnocchi with wild mushrooms & risotto. Service was excellent & good wine listing. It's on the pricier side but very well prepared.

Yelp
I finally visited after hearing great things for a few years! There were 5 of us, including a vegan, which I noted in the reservation, and they accommodated. One of the members in our group had been many times and made recommendations. The vegan ordered Beets, and the Chef also prepared a Sunchokes dish for her (not pictured). The rest of us shared Octopus, two housemade pasta dishes (Yolk Filled Raviolo & Butternut squash Angnolini), Foie Gras Mousse, Double Pork Chop with sauerkraut and Kabocha squash, and Jerk Rabbit. The octopus was a bit tough and "rubbery," but tasted good. The other dishes were on point! The Jerk Rabbit was our favorite because it was just a flavor explosion, simply amazing! The foie gras was a close second for flavor and texture, and the pork chop was perfectly cooked and succulent! Our server was outstanding! At one point, he noted a subtle use of an ingredient for a dish that would not work for the vegan in our group, which she appreciated. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would certainly go back.

Yelp
I came here for my birthday dinner and had a spectacular experience. They suggest you share plates, which is what we did. Our server recommended the "Big Dill Energy" cocktail, which was very refreshing. My partner loved the beef tartare, but the all star dish of the night to me was the jerk rabbit. It was probably one of the best things I've ever eaten. Will 100% be returning.
google avatar

Ericka B.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday dinner as a special treat after hearing from so many friends that the food is great. They definitely lived up to expectations! We got a reservation right as they opened and had the option to eat either outside or inside, so of course we chose outside. Our waitress was quick to come over and fully explain the menu since it was our first time there. She also made some recommendations based off of the chef's preferences. We ended up getting a fancy mocktail, letting the bartender have some fun, and a cocktail that was scotch based. Both were quite tasty. As for the food, we got an appetizer of the Fischer Farm Tortellini en Brodo, the Jerk Rabbit, and the Porchetta. All were fantastic! I don't think I've ever had a better tasting broth with the appetizer and the presentation of it was very fun as it was in a clear tea/coffee cup. The Jerk Rabbit was super flavorful and had hints of the spice that you expected which was tamed by the greek yogurt sauce. The carrots were cooked to the best texture by having a little crunch and the sweetness of them played great with the salty of the rabbit. The Porchetta was a generous portion that felt like just the right amount. It melted in the mouth and the additional flavors including the 'nduja really benefited the dish. The almond also added a nice crunch. Overall, it was fantastic, and I'm kind of disappointed that we didn't end up getting dessert. Our mistake! We will have to come back to try out some more of the food.

Eric J.

Yelp
Seriously, do not come hungry. Portions were small, bitter and too salty. Stay far, far away from the salmon.

Otis S.

Yelp
Dear everybody who stumbles upon this review, let me tell you something. This was hands down the best restaurant I have ever been to. I'm not some big time foodie who has traveled everywhere and tried everything, just a Midwestern dude who likes good food, good restaurants, and good drinks. Pig in a Fur Coat exceedingly fulfills all of those categories. I grew up semi-local and came to Madison all the time, but hadn't gotten the chance the tour the food and bar scene since I've come of legal drinking age (thanks pandemic). This was a whole other side of the food scene I've never gotten to experience here in WI. Also, the service here is absolutely amazing. The whole waitstaff was very tentative and all had an amazing helpful and inviting vibe all night. To finish out this review, I'd like to show you the message I sent to all of my friends about the food and drinks I had that night while still in absolute food bliss. (Slightly censored for consideration) "Bro, the rabbit THE RABIT WAS INSANE. So perfectly seasoned, amazing texture, the plating GORGEOUS. The foie gras mousse, BUTTERY SMOOTH. Lamb belly was absolutely succulent. The raviolo was so good with a yummy runny egg. And the gnocchi were CLOUDS literally the best thing ever. I need to make garlic scape pesto, that stuff was amazing. Only thing I wasn't the biggest fan of was the beets, don't get me wrong, I like beets and this was good, I just wish the were thinly sliced. Drinks were probably some of the best cocktails I've ever had. And the cake, heavenly, the rhubarb and pistachio combo is so perfect". I guess to summarize, this is a can't miss place here in Madison. If you're coming for a weekend trip and need good place to eat on a Friday night, this is the place to be. (Also for the pictures attached of the menu, everything with a dot is what we had.)
google avatar

Chris T.

Yelp
We had a company dinner at Pig in a Fur Coat and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The raviolo was a favorite though everything was delicious. Smaller space with family style tables. Highly recommended if you crave a culinary experience. Eclectic and carefully chosen wine and beverage list too. The service was very attentive and friendly.
google avatar

Jack G.

Yelp
Outstanding unique and eclectic fare. Tasty and nicely plated. Attentive service. The offerings range from small plates to full Dinner plates. Everything is ideal for sharing. Excellent selection of cocktails, wine and draft beers.
google avatar

Mikaela L.

Yelp
I went here for my birthday with a group of friends. The food was very good. I was expecting the portion sizes to be bigger because they said the plates were shareable but did tell us which ones were smaller and suggested we get doubles. Overall I'd say it was an ok experience. We ordered a lot of food but we're still hungry after. I had much higher hopes because I LOVE Alimentari and this restaurant is owned by the same people. I'd say don't go hungry but the quality of the food was fantastic and the presentation was beautiful.
google avatar

Bri M.

Yelp
My first visit here was with a birthday group of 13. Absolutely fantastic food! I loved the seasonal menu, making this place a super fun repeat date night or special event dinner! Even their mocktails were fancy. I especially loved the yolk-stuffed raviolo and blood orange panna cotta most. Our server was super wonderful and the staff overall made the experience fun and easy (not stuffy). Can't wait to be back!
google avatar

Sandy D.

Yelp
Yum!! Food is unique and delicious in a very casual setting. My only complaint is the portions are not big enough for the money. We ended up having a snack a little later in the evening. We will definitely try it again!!
google avatar

Corbin B.

Yelp
Comfortable cozy vibe. Sharp attentive service. Stunning delicious approachable food. One of the best in Madison.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food. Menu is always fresh! Service is always very helpful. Must go every time in Madison.

Yelp
I stopped by Pig in a Fur Coat, an elegant Madison bistro and bar in a quiet neighborhood. The restaurant serves up a wide variety of beers and cocktails along with a rotating food menu. I started with the beef carpaccio, elegant slices of beef with black garlic and arugula. This appetizer was delicious! I continued with the casonelli, a stuffed pasta, similar to ravioli. The stuffed pasta contained rabbit and ricotta. You could tell that the pasta was handmade; the entire dish was brilliantly put together and cooked perfectly. I enjoyed every bite. Service was fast and friendly and I look forward to my next visit.

Sarah L.

Yelp
Best meal ever??? Came here for Valentine's dinner with the boyfriend. Was not disappointed! From the tasty, strong cocktails to the phenomenal service to the incredible flavors in the dishes - uff dah. They were especially kind to my clumsy self when I broke a glass at the end of my dinner. My favorite was the raviolo. I could eat 20 of those. I will be back if I can get over my glass-breaking incident embarrassment.

Wendy J.

Yelp
I love Pig in a Fur Coat. It's a small intimate restaurant and the food is incredible. 1. Salumi e Formaggi: This was one of the best charcuterie boards that I have ever had! The cheeses were super unique and the bread had a nice crunch to it. I don't like pate but the house made pâté was flavorful! 2. Beets: I'm a sucker for beets. This dish was different than others that I had before. There were so many different textures going on making it delicious. 3. Risotto: The risotto was my least favorite of the night. It was alright, but it wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping. 4. Yolk Filled Raviolo: This was amazing! I couldn't believe that the yolk was still runny inside! Our server was super helpful in recommending dishes and I didn't feel rushed at all! I was able to enjoy the charcuterie board before the rest of the food came out so the pacing of food was amazing.

Yelp
Service is nice, at first we sat outside but it was too loud with the cars so we moved to an inside table. The food is delicious, and we have been coming back for more!
google avatar

Rob S.

Yelp
Great service, solid food, cute comfortable atmosphere. I really liked it, my two dining companions liked the food a little less. We had the focaccia, foie gras mousse, and the fall salad. I really loved the foie gras...almost was so rich it could have been dessert. Everyone LOVED the fall salad, with apple, smoked Gouda, kale, and much more. Focaccia was fine. Then we had the raviolo with egg yolk...we sort of expected a gooey spill out yolk but it was more full eggy. The Parisian gnocchi was solid but not world beater. For our main we shared the pork belly, which most of us really enjoyed! Dessert we had the chiffon cake. All of us did not love that(had saffron which didn't work for us).
google avatar

Grant S.

Yelp
Great shared meal w friends. Everything was on point. Service was exceptional Best meal I've had in Madison in ages.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food, small place ambiance. Herd to not get one of everything. Reservations necessary... The drinks are creative, with some for teetotalers. Staff is well versed in the menu and aim to please.
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere. Food was epic and drinks were amazing. We will definitely return!

Laura D.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here! Everything was expertly prepared, great flavor and delicious! We enjoyed the gnocchi and octopus the most! But focaccia and short rib also excellent (though slightly over priced). Will be back soon!
google avatar

Jeff R.

Yelp
Excellent food, and nice ambience. However, felt little rushed throughout all of the courses and the speed at which they were served. While they were sharing plates, it was more of what I would call sample plates than significant portions to share for the price / value. Given the quality of the food, I will try additional dishes next time

Yelp
I wanted to give you 4 stars for your pocket draining prices but the food was incredible. The portions are smaller so be ready to order multiple things if you're really hungry. I could write a long review but I'm keeping it short. It's sometimes challenging to get parking but it is worth it. We sat at the bar and it had impressive lights hanging with a great selection of high end liquors. The ravioli was extraordinary and wish there were two on the plate. Make sure to get one. The risotto was matchless, I highly recommend getting it. I didn't like the fish, I wish I had got something else. Great service and the drinks were tasty.

Yelp
We normally try not to repeat restaurants but decided to come back to APIAFC! The service and food are amazing and without the pretentiousness of some of the comparable spots downtown. Love!

Yelp
Dinner at Pig in a Fur Coat was exceptional, as we were treated to top-notch service by our waiter, John. Despite being occupied with the Willy Street Festival, Chef Dan Bonano made sure to personally check on his guests whenever he could find a moment away from the tent. Our dining experience commenced with a prompt delivery of a glass of rosé and a Manhattan, followed by exquisitely prepared Parisian Gnocchi, huitlacoche, sweet corn saffron. The flavors were skillfully balanced and absolutely delightful, leaving me with the only regret that the restaurant is seasonal, and I might not have the opportunity to return before the change of seasons. Our next course featured Foie Gras Mousse, bombolini, guanciale, fig jam, balsamic which was not only a treat for the palate but also a visually pleasing dish. The main course consisted of a dry-aged ribeye accompanied by a vegetable terrine that I aspire to replicate in my own kitchen someday. Additionally, we indulged in a Halibut dish with a fennel cream sauce that brilliantly showcased the flavors of the fish. As a finale, I savored a delectable cheesecake with pear and drizzled with a brandy caramel sauce. If you are looking for a wonderful date night experience please give Pig in a fur coat a try.

Yelp
Very bland, poorly prepared pasta dishes, and way overpriced. Not great if the best part was a mocktail

Yelp
Came on a fall evening and there was a cool block party. This place was the perfect joint for unique drinks and food. Honestly the entrees were so flavorful and the drinks were divine.

Yelp
This restaurant is a standout in Madison. Expensive for small portions, but worth it if you want a memorable experience. The service was great, the food was delicious, and the ambiance added to the experience. Drinks are yummy too (although not worth writing home about). For starters, we got: Focaccia - 8/10, not life changing but very good. Tomatoes - 6/10, high quality ingredients but flavors didn't blend well so just felt like eating tomatoes. Beef carpaccio - 10/10, flavor and texture blend was incredible, the black garlic really stood out Lamb belly - 9.5/10, overall delicious and I loved the carrot purée Then for mains we got: Raviolio - 7/10, the bacon and bread didn't add much but it was good Veal breast - 7/10, great but not the most memorable And then for dessert we got the apple cake which was 8.5/10, a little heavy on the cake but it was delightful especially the caramel!

Yelp
Dropped in, no reservation. Sat at bar and had a perfect martini with the beet salad. Loved it! Will plan on making a reservation for dinner with friends. Highly recommend dropping in and see if space available at bar.

Yelp
Sadly they don't have the pork belly main dish anymore! I was told they rotated it off the menu! 3 months of waiting to eat there (from California), and sadly disappointed :( The meatballs were delicious. A bit disappointed that at 7:30p they had ran out of many items in the menu already. However not much impressed by rest of stuff we had. Since they didn't have duck fat fries anymore, we had to stick with the beef fat fries - you can't go wrong with the fries!
