The 11 Best Portuguese Restaurants In London

"Cosy and casual, A Portuguese Love Affair is the kind of all-day spot found all over Hackney: breakfast, baked goods, coffee, light lunches, and natural wines. This makes it a magnet for the local creative, artsy crowd. Unlike most, it focuses solely on Portuguese food. So those baked goods include a mouthwatering meat bola, or a ham and chouriço-stuffed brioche-like bead, while the short lunch menu includes on-point bacalhau à brás, bifana, and vegan options (relatively rare in Portuguese spots). They’ve won awards for their pastel de nata, and it’s easy to see why. They are probably the best in the city: on the runny side but utterly delicious. " - tome morrissy swan

21 Standout LGBTQIA+-Owned Restaurants & Gay Bars In London

"Cosy and casual, A Portuguese Love Affair is the place to come for pastel de nata. They’re some of the best in the city—on the runny side but utterly delicious—and the rest of the Portuguese menu (bacalhau à brás, bifana, and the like) is also excellent. The bright, snug Hackney cafe is ideal for a long gossip session, or just a solo moment with a pastry. " - rachel rumbol

This little pearl of a place needs to be protected and cherished at all cost. Cute Portuguese deli joint in the heart of east London. Indulgent savoury treats and an understated menu full of flavour and care. Cozy spot for a date night or a lunch break.

Beautiful little hidden gem! So glad that we accidentally stumbled across this place. Good Portuguese beer and excellent food. The staff were amazing, so helpful, polite and caring, such genuine people. To top it off there was a lovely seating area alongside the park, myself and my partner definitely visit again Muito obrigado

A very nice place, I would have given them 5 stars for sure if it wasn’t because they over charged us and added an item to our bill which we didn’t realised at the time of paying, we treat it as our contribution to their go fund me, but after a nice meal it sort of left us with a bad taste as honesty goes a long way and we loved the place until we realised this. Recommendation to double check receipt before paying.

I proper love this place. The food is so tasty and well-priced. Great wine and really friendly service. It's one of my favourite spots in summer, though in winter it can be kinda cold. I'd love if it was more heated but it doesn't deter me from chilling there.

TLDR; Super charming cafe with some decent coffee and snacks. Its a tad expensive but you’re paying extra for the atmosphere and attention to detail. The pork and beef Portuguese pastries were being made right by the entrance! The dough was being prepared whilst another batch was being taken out of the oven. You can’t get any fresher than this!

Great little place with nice atmosphere, it's rustic and cute. I came during the evening for the wine bar, lovely selection of Portuguese wines at good prices and Dina is a character! She did mention that I should come back to try the Pastel de Nata...

The bacalhau à Brás is so so good - it tastes like home! Everything tastes good here and it’s such a cute little place. If it’s sunny, they put tables outside and it’s just perfect.
