This beloved market hides a small back counter turning out bulgogi, bibimbap, and kimchi jjigae. Covered by respected local food writers at Weekly Alibi and buoyed by recent reviews, it’s a low-key, community hub for homestyle Korean fare.

If you’re in the mood to eat delicious Korean food in the area, I absolutely recommend trying out this place! We stopped in to the market to get some essentials to make Korean barbecue at home. We had no idea that there was also a restaurant attached! And since we were there around lunchtime, it was a no-brainer to try the food. And it did not disappoint! The market has essentials to make Korean food staples. About the only thing that wasn’t available was soju, which I understand because they would need a liquor license. They did have everything else we were looking for: samgyeopsal, ggaenip, kimchi, gochu garu, ssamjang, etc. Despite being a small market, it was well stocked. We ordered a variety of dishes to try. They were all, without exception, delicious and well prepared. We ordered: gimbap, japchae, bulgogi, and haemul pajeon. They served us boricha, which is my favorite and it was a nice surprise. My favorite dish was definitely the haemul pajeon; it was flavorful, perfectly crisped, and packed with seafood. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The ambiance was peaceful. Restroom was clean. We live two hours away and I would totally make the drive to eat here again!

Great small selection of grocery items, and the restaurant is always delicious

Delicious authentic Korean Food. Not cheap, but definitely not expensive when you consider the quality and taste of the food. We all enjoyed our food and felt it was worth the money. Extra bonus was the ability to shop for groceries while waiting for your food.

I absolutely love this hidden gem. Their kimchi is by far the best I’ve ever had and it’s the only place I will go to get some. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates authentic Korean flavors. Plus, the friendly staff makes every visit a delight.

First time stopping in. Should have sooner. Took a walk through the market and found a few good buys including a new clever. Check out and walked across to the restaurant. My daughter and I shared the spicy bulgogi, fried dumplings, and a side of squid salad. The service was great and very friendly. Answered several questions about spices and cooking. Will be returning to shop the market and eat

Google
Best Korean food I've had since actually being there. The bulgogi and mandu were perfect and brought back so many good memories. My BFF really loved the spicy bulgogi and kimchi. We'll absolutely be back. So full and happy. Also, fun to shop for treats afterwards.

Google
We love this place! Have been regulars for years and truly believe this could be the best Korean food in ABQ-Metro area. It is very relaxed and informal but MAN the food is good and the kimchi you can buy is awesome too. Great hidden gem!

Google
Best Korean in Albuquerque by far, especially for the price and fast friendly service! Have only tried a couple of things on the menu, but will be back soon to try more, no question. Go give them your business and pick up a Korean ice cream treat on the way out through the market!

Yelp
A-Ri-Rang Oriental Market is a delicious option for homemade, authentic Korean cooking. From bibimbap, sundubu jjigae, and kimbap -- they've got great choices. The food is always served hot and prepared expertly by the family that runs this location. The restaurant itself is an intimate, cozy spot with limited seating options. I've never had a problem finding a seat for 2, but if I came in with a larger group I'd be aware that there might be a wait time. Overall, the food is great to me and the little market attached to the seating area has a lot of good Korean staples. Will definitely be back for more food and more goodies from their little shop!

Yelp
If you're craving a true taste of Seoul, this hidden gem inside the Korean market is a must-visit. Walking in feels like stepping right into a cozy eatery in the heart of Korea. The food is legit. The kimchi jjigae? Pure fire -- rich, bold, and jam-packed with goodness and flavor in every bite. It's exactly how it should taste: comforting, spicy, and deeply flavorful! Let's not leave out the added bonus of being able to shop for Korean items in the market while you wait or to walk off your lunch! Pro tip: Don't sleep on this place. Whether you're a Korean food lover or new to the cuisine, you'll walk out full, happy, and planning your next visit. 1000/10

Yelp
A very cute family owned store and restaurant. They have so many Korean products. They have a restaurant inside and we decided to try it out! We order a dish called ddeokbokki with rice cakes and noodles. It was a little spicy but so delicious. We also ordered the tofu soup and that was yummy too. I would like to go back and try their bulgogi beef bowls next time! The workers are also very friendly.

Yelp
I love coming to the A-Ri-Rang for lunch then shopping for home goodies! They offer Japanese and Korean food at the market. The fresh kimchi is always a must for us to have in our fridge. For lunch this time we order kimchi-jjigae , bibimbap . They were both delicious. I love the flavors very authentic and sending me back to south Korea.

Yelp
We have lived in ABQ for over 25 years and until today really could not say, "The Best". Friends, I hesitate to write a review here because this amazing family establishment will become way too popular, but to be fair to the family that runs this business I need to share, this is by far the absolute best Korean restaurant I have had the joy of experiencing. The food is exceptional. It is small, with few tables, but the food. If you go to places for the food. You simply can't go wrong here. The food was fresh, served promptly, and delightfully flavorful. I hope anyone seeing this review gives them a a try. You see the outside of the building and wonder, well step inside and be prepared for delicious authentic dishes. The Best Enjoy my friends

Yelp
4.5 stars. True hole in a wall place! love Arirang. I visited it many times during COVID's peak times and didn't know they also had a restaurant in the back of the shop until I read about it on Yelp and visited the restaurant recently I loved that I could get some Korean fixes here and the items were more authentic than Korean food I could get elsewhere. The portions were also generous..so you could share/take some leftover home. I wished the restaurant offered more banchan (side dishes during meals,) and that there were more items like drinks and desserts as well. I'd love to try more authentic dishes from here! Note: also, this market isn't really an overall Oriental Market as the name started but mostly Korean items (e.g. no southeast asian items). Small shop but definitely good ones if you are looking for Korean items for your grocery needs~

Yelp
This small restaurant is the perfect home style Korean place if you need a bit of comfort and also want hearty, great tasting food. The service was quick and lovely and it was awesome that you could shop at the grocery store section at the same time. I absolutely recommend this place.

Yelp
Always clean and well kept as far as a 7/11 for the right ingredients to make the dish they are very specialized

Yelp
This is a hidden gem, you'll want to seek out. You would probably drive by the building not knowing this is a must try for Korean food in the area. The exterior of the building is line like with most in the area, it looks old and it was probably converted from the previous business that was there. The signage outside for the business isn't super fancy or anything, so you could just over look it easily. This is a your small mom and pop restaurant with a little market attached to it. This is specifically for the restaurant. First of let me just say the food is food, we ordered BiBimBap, JapChea, and a veggie pancake. I have no complaints about the food as everything was good and we'll be back for sure to try other items. This way above some other places Korean spots I've had in the area. This is a small little spot with very limited seating with about 6 tables and maybe 20 people for seating. The layout is open and you can see the part of the back of the house area. Service was great and everyone was friendly. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and it can get busy. Because of the limited seating there was people who had to wait. I had the SolDot BiBimBap and it was good and filling. To me this is a solid choice and can't go wrong. I can see where some people could say it is t as seasoned for flavor, but I personally have no complaints. They will bring out a bottle of sauce if you want to spice it a bit to. My girlfriend had the JapChea and I was like holy dang! when they brought out the plate. This is a pretty big portion and let's you feel like you're getting you're money's worth. She couldn't finish it, so we took it the rest home. I had the some of leftovers a few hours later and it was really good and I mixed some rice with it. I would say JapChea is a personal preference on how it's prepared and this is a little sauced up more than what I'm use to. The sauce is savory and when I ate the leftovers, it wasn't as sauced up and I like it better that way. The veggie pancake is a must, this was just soooo good and when dipped in the sauce, even better. Nothing more needs to be said. I would give it a 4.5 overall from our experience with the knowledge this a little cozy spot with no expectations of a chain/corporate restaurant.

Yelp
I think many people don't know that there is a restaurant within this grocery store which is run by Koreans and has many Korean customers! That is a very good sign! Though I look Korean, I was adopted as a baby and grew up in the USA. My Korean friend brings me, and it's always a delight to eat this flavorful food from this beautiful ethnic culture! Everything comes out fresh and plentiful! The soups are shareable if your appetite is smaller. Crispy Korean dumplings with dipping sauce were so good and different than the Chinese dumplings I'm used to. The wait staff is very friendly with smiles, and the place was clean. I look forward to returning and trying something new each time I go!

Yelp
One of the few places in town you can get Korean food. Nothing to complain about. Their menu is has the very basics of Korean cuisine and they execute the basic with respect. Even better, you can get your groceries after you eat.
google avatar

Louisse B.

Yelp
Listen Up Military family and all, if you really missed Korea or Korea cooking, do not be fooled of what this place looks like. THIS PLACE IS A 1000/10 for its Korean meals! I thought i would never have Korean meals again but this place definitely delivered. Will be coming back here pretty often to eat.
google avatar

Yelp
I was so surprised by this Korean market / restaurant. I ate the best japchae I've ever had. The dol sot bibimbap is flavorful and I got the seared rice on the bottom. I will return. My next visit im going for the seafood pancake.
google avatar

Kirstin B.

Yelp
As someone who used to live in Korea- this hidden gem is a life saver! Go eat inside. EVERYTHING is delicious. I about died of happiness eating the seafood pancake and my kimchi stew today. The pancake was perfectly crispy, and all the veggies were fresh. Don't forget to check out the store for snacks and meal cooking ingredients!

Yelp
Came in for lunch. First time coming here and the beef bulgogi was amazing. My only issue was I couldn't tell what drink options there were. I just had the drink they brought out with the food and wasn't into it. I only wish they had a drink menu. Love Korean food and wish we had more options here. Glad I tried this place and I will be back for the Bulgogi.

Kim F.

Yelp
We ordered Dolsot Bibimbab and Bulgogi. The food was delicious. Service was great. The dining room is small and all the tables were full. Thanks for a delicious meal. The market area has a great selection of Korean food and snacks.
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
No corn or barley tea here either. A few banchans in the fridge at least. Smaller market. Half the back is for dining. They do offer up a varied menu of food options here.
google avatar

Heidi A.

Yelp
I've been to the grocery store before but I heard that the dining section has opened so I came over here for lunch! I got the dolsot bibimbap. It was very good! I like how the rice at the bottom gets crispy. The service was quick and the staff was nice. Grocery store attached restaurants (especially Korean) are always really good and this place didn't disappoint :) I will be back!

Yelp
Such a hidden gem and super conveniently located. I am familiar with a few of the larger Asian markets around town but this was my first time in A-Ri-Rang and I was shocked to find it was super close to my house but I had never noticed it before. The space is small but stocked to the brim. I came for the grocery but the restaurant was smelling amazing so I will be back for that. I was super excited to find some frozen Korean corn dogs that can be air fried! I also thought they had a great selection of dry goods and frozen things. I also grabbed fizzy drink for the road that was delicious. They had all kinds of things that I haven't found at some of the larger markets and highly recommend checking them out for some of those Korean specialty needs.
google avatar

Jean C.

Yelp
This review is for the small restaurant located in the back of the market. I went online before we went in and researched the different foods. They don't have pictures of the dishes on the menu and I'm not familiar enough with Korean food to guess what I'd like just from descriptions. I got the spicy pork bulgogi and my daughter got the bibambob. Both were delicious. I'm glad I asked for medium heat because it was perfect. There are only a few tables and the women speak broken English. I'm not sure of their hours. Some days they're closed but nothing is posted. Really great authentic food.
google avatar

Christopher P.

Yelp
Excellent place. The food was authentic and not that expensive! I got the spicy squid and it came with fermented pickles, kimchi, and white rice on the side. The portions were huge! Definitely hit the spot. Not sure when it's in effect, but I don't think one can eat here anymore as they will be taking takeout orders only. I believe it is after 9/2/22. Either way, highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
I come here for all my comfort food cravings. Whether it's their fresh made cucumber kimchi, jjangjjamgmyeon pack, kewpie mayo refill, furikake, and Gochujang paste to make my kimchi jjigae - this is the place to shop for all things Korean! The staff are always nice and welcoming and the restaurant gets packed on the weekends. Fun place to explore Korean foods if you've never been and wanting to try something new and delicious!
google avatar

William K.

Yelp
I have had the pleasure of eating at A-Ri-Rang several times. I have found the food to be delicious and the staff to be friendly. I like to try different dishes on each visit and I have been very pleased with each selection. I plan to work through the complete menu.
google avatar

Christopher A.

Yelp
Gave this place a shot I always drive by. I'm happy I did. Bulgogi was great Seaweed salad was on the small side but great taste nevertheless. If you want something different this is the place. This place is not too busy and can look closed from the outside but give it a shot it is worth the chance. I only wish they had bigger drink cups with ice, but that's just a personal preference.
google avatar

Gwen G.

Yelp
Delicious authentic Korean food. Thank god! I love the Bulgogi. The grocery store is very convenient too.

Yelp
If you are looking for the best Korean food in Albuquerque, look no further! For a few months a while back I think the indoor seating for the restaurant side of this market was closed, but it is back open now. I love coming here on my lunch break for work, it is very traditional and authentic. I studied abroad in Korea for over a year, so I would say I definitely know my Korean food and this is really the best in town. It never disappoints. I love that they serve hot barely tea with your meal during the winter time, and cold barely tea during the hotter months in the summer if you dine in. I always feel like I am in Korea when I am here. I also really like the drink section that they have in the market side. I like getting my barely tea from the fridge and I like buying kimchi here

Tram N.

Yelp
Their food is always good especially the soup and bimbimbop. I wish they would open til later.
google avatar

Yelp
This little store is tucked away on the east side, and it doesn't seem like much from the outside, but it's full of deliciousness and snacks that can't be found elsewhere in Abq. I like stocking up on ramen, frozen goods, and treats here, and my favorite thing about A-Ri-Rang is the little restaurant on the side. They've got the best, authentic Korean dishes in town, and I love stopping by here for lunch when I've got the time. They're wonderfully friendly, and service is always quick.

Yesenia L.

Yelp
My absolute favorite spot, the Bulgogi is always great and flavorful! Totally a must to try!
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
I ordered the number 9 which is the Soon Tofu Jjigae and it was delicious! The soup came hot and bubbling with plenty of tofu, vegetables, and seafood in it. The flavor was wonderfully savory and not as spicy as I anticipated. I love really spicy food and would rate this less spicy than Sriracha. My husband got the beef bulgogi which was also delicious! Our meals came with pickled bean sprouts, rice, and kimchi which was definitely top notch! The service was fast and very friendly as well. We shopped around inside the store after we were done eating and bought some of our favorite staples which are all priced much lower than any other store we've found. We're already talking about going back to try more of their dishes, can't recommend this place enough for authentic Korean food!
google avatar

Steve P.

Yelp
The restaurant in the back of the supermarket is a hidden gem in Albuquerque! I was craving for some Korean food during my visit and the food definitely hit the spot. I got the hot pot bibimbab and my friend got the jajanymyun (black bean noodles). The bibimbab had great flavors, along with the crisp rice on the bottom of the pot. They gave you the gochujang on the side so you can control how spicy you want to eat it. The jajangmyun had a wide variety of vegetables mixed with the black bean sauce. Definitely planning to return back here on my next visit!
google avatar

Christina A.

Yelp
Always such good food and great people serving! Love all their food and shopping afterwards un the market!
google avatar

Gerrit K.

Yelp
Easily the best Korean food in all of Albuquerque. Unassuming casual atmosphere behind grocery aisles in the back of the market. Full of flavor, perfectly prepared, quickly served, amazing food. We'll definitely be back with more friends in tow next time.

Yoon-Taek C.

Yelp

Yelp
Not very helpful or friendly. I bought a gallon jar of kimchi that said it was sliced, only to get it home to find it was not sliced but whole. Next time I'm in town I will go to another Korean market.
google avatar

Sandra H.

Yelp
The best Korean food in ABQ! A ton of food and not expensive. The grocery is great as well.
google avatar

Stephanie N.

Yelp
Nice little mini asian store, other half is a small korean restaurant. Not too many seats & it was just us there. The food is pretty good & authentic. I ordered the bibimbop & family ordered the bulgogi. Food was delicious but I was disappointed that only 2 kimchi sides come w/ it. Usually you get a handful. I also miss having the choice to cook our own meat, so this place has no grills to do that. But can't complain too much since I did enjoy everything. The store itself, even tho it was small, had pretty much everything if you wanted to cook basic korean dishes. I'm looking forward to go back & try out the fish tofu in the freezer aisle since the kids can never have enough of those when given as a side entree.

Yelp
OK I'm updating my review to a solid 4 stars because we got take-out recently and it really hit the spot for our craving. This time, we ordered black bean noodles (milder taste, but perfect for our little guy), rice cake soup (like the other broth soup I got last time, on the salty side, but we just added water and made more soup with it), bulgogi (OK, but we haven't had kbbq anywhere else here yet), and veggie pancake. While there, I also picked up some stuff (soy sauce, oyster sauce, etc.) that I've been meaning to get but have been too lazy to drive all the way to Talin for. I also saw they had rice dogs in the freezer section, and definitely need to pick some of that up next time. I'll need to also check what else they have if we want to try an at-home kbbq night... It was super easy to call our order in and pick it up. Staff wore gloves and a mask, and patrons are required to wear a mask inside (but it was empty when I went).

Seana M.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant and market in Abq. I love that I can eat at the restaurant and stock up on my favorite items like rice, green tea, kimchi, and passionfruit tea. The bim bap and bulgogi are top notch and all the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

Yelp
This place is a diamond in the rough, a hidden gem. Driving south you would think this place isn't even open, and forget using the front door come in the side entrance and be ready to have your flavor buds blown. First walking in you just see a small dinning room located in an Asian grocery store. The ladies that run the place will greet you and pour delicious cool toasted buckwheat tea into a mug for you as you look over the Korean menu. We orders some of the best dumplings I've ever had as well as a Jian bbong (spicy seafood soup), DoiSot BiBimbab (rice, beansprouts, fried egg& more)and ja jang myun (beef, potatoes noodles and bean sauce) All three were delicious the Ja Jang myun was by far the best dish aside from those little dumplings of delciousness. The staff is great encouraging us to share our food with eachother and to clear our plates like sweet Korean mothers or grandmothers. The market itself is a great place to get those hard to find Asian ingredients as well, and for a great price. The food portions are huge and this place is another must stop for foodies off the beaten path.

Ann G.

Yelp
I first came here for some difficult to find ingredients for cooking, which I found. I've been getting things here every few months, for fair prices. Today I tried the food in the restaurant. It is take out only in the daytime during the week. It was super good. Nice portion sizes and excellent flavor. I am very happy to support this small business even though I live over 30 minutes away, it's worth the trip. They are friendly, look out for their customers, have decent prices and Great service.
google avatar

C W.

Yelp
Ordered jajangmyun to-go last week and it was spoiled. Bibimbap was not very good either. It's been subpar for about a year now. I've been a loyal customer for 20 years but now I go to a1 or Kim's.

Joan V.

Yelp
Hard to find good Korean food in Albuquerque, but this place is great love the seafood pancake
google avatar

Savannah R.

Yelp
best place ive ever eaten in my whole life 10/10. the most authentic korean food in albuqueque new mexico. wow!

Eric F.

Yelp
wide range of authentic asian food products. I would recommend. Nice people run the place.
google avatar

Emari H.

Yelp
It's a small Asian supermarket that has the basic frozen items and decent dry goods as well as the typical Asian cookware, herbal supplements (like ginseng drink), and snacks. I was disappointed that they had zero produce, since I was hoping for a one stop shopping for my new year food. I got kamaboko (fish cake), tobikko (fish eggs), frozen lotus roots, tofu, Taegu (spicy Korean cuttlefish), & Korean mochi. I guess I'll be back for things like natto (Japanese fermented soybeans) or miso, seaweeds, & some frozen noodles... Prices were comparable to 999 Seafood, which is always cheaper than the "fancy" Ethnic store, Ta-Lin.
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
Good food and customer service. Albuquerque hasn't let me down yet. The beef bulgogi and bibimbap are both really good.
google avatar

Karina A.

Yelp
I come here so much that they already know my go-to order. It's a Korean market but if you walk further in you will find the restaurant and the ladies who are going to cook your lovely meal. Or go through the second door that is further to the right next to the windows. I recommend the Ddeokmandu-guk, which is a rice cake soup with dumplings, beef, carrots, and onions along with the Soondubujigae and jjajjangmyeon. If you are lucky and arrive early, or if no one has taken it, you can get the kimbab rolls. They only make a certain amount but it comes with two rolls with fish cake and pickled radish and all the other good stuff. If you want to not drink water or the tea they give you, you can ger Milkis or other canned soda in the market area. They will see and put your drink on your bill.
google avatar

Kelly H.

Yelp
I ordered bulgogi, japchae and the seafood pancake to go. The food was delicious and authentic. I spent years eating Korean food in Koreatown in NYC. This is the real deal...I highly recommend the seafood pancake! In fact I ate it too fast to snap a picture.
