"This small restaurant in Sterling has been around for over a decade and continues to serve distinctive dishes from the Southeast Asian country in its name. Staples such as the tea leaf salad and mohinga (fish stew) appear on a menu that includes Burmese curries — go for goat accented with ginger and garlic — beef cooked in an onion sauce with potato, and a tamarind-forward, tart vegetable curry." - Aparna Krishnamoorthy

"Loudoun County’s go-to spot for Burmese cuisine since 2006 allows customers to at their way through the Southeast Asian nation now known as Myanmar. First time at this Asian restaurant, in a strip mall in Reston/Sterling. We started with classic veggie spring rolls and samosas. Their version of the samosa looked and tasted amazing. Instead of serving a greasy, doughy wrapped chunk, they used phyllo sheets, many layers, that resulted in a very thin and triangular appetizer. Despite the thinness, they were packed with potatoes and peas, with that light, crispy wrap. For main course I went with "Gold Mountain Noodles." They put a nice twist in this dish - thin, perfectly cooked wheat noodles, a coconut curry sauce, with a touch of cilantro and fresh squeezed lime juice. Then they added a sliced hard boiled egg. The mix of coconut, lime, cilantro and egg gave it a rich creaminess, with a bite of citrus. Delicious! Another diner chose "Chili Shrimp." Again, perfectly cooked seafood, with a medium hot spicy sauce that stuck well to each shrimp. The only negative was a somewhat long wait after ordering, but our guy Gustavo gave excellent service. And the interior has a.... somewhat eccentric decor. There used to be a restaurant called Burma down in DC. It's gone, but now I've found another gem.

While obviously recovering from Covid Restaraunt blues, the food is amazing, and not just a little, polite awesome, but honest to goodness pure delight in every bite. Complex flavors that gently layer throughout the meal. From our choices this was epitomized in their tea leaf salad. Oh my oh my! Just try it!

A hidden gem in the heart of sterling, I have been coming here since 2015. The food is incredible. Chef Jona is as special as they come. Cooks with love, and her food shows it. My recommendations... Burmese Iced Tea is a must Try the yellow split pea fritters to start And for the main course, I would go with either The Rangoon Night Market Noodles, Golden Mountain Noodles, or one of the several curries. For desert, Farlooda hands down. Best thing ever.

My daughter and stumbled upon this delightful restaurant during a visit nearby. Glad we did. She had the Lamb Curry and I had the Rangoon Night Market Noodles. We shared a Fried Burmese Tofu appetizer. We really enjoyed the experience. Sadly the owner stated that she was unsure how long she would be able to keep the location open.

They brought out a small table to sit outside. The pumpkin shrimp was delicious. Tip: There's a sign saying they prefer for you to pay in cash or check. They didn't complain when I wanted to pay by cc. Another tip: save room for dessert - - see the semolina cake and farluda pics. And watch out for their hours because they're closed on Tuesdays. Enjoy!

A Taste of Burma is hands-down my favorite restaurant in the DC area and possibly the entire region. I have traveled within Burma as well as eaten at many Burmese restaurants in the states (San Francisco, New York, Buffalo and Phillie). Along with her predecessor Myanmar in Falls Church (very sadly no longer open) the flavors at Taste of Burma are by far the most wonderful I have tasted here in the US at any Burmese restaurant. The salads here are made w/ vegans in mind without fish sauce but this does not compromise the flavors. I always start with the tea leaf salad, mango salad and tofu salad. The golden finger tempura is also so yummy with a wonderful sweet and zippy tamarind sauce. I would quite frankly drink vats of the mint sauce that comes with the samosas if I could.... The sour mustard tofu as well as the pumpkin curry are good together, with any of the leafy green dishes to compliment them. The flavors and textures of the veggie and vegan dishes are richer and more complex than any meat dish you'll ever have at another restaurant. But if you eat meat you will not be disappointed. I eat fish so I always order the crispy fish fillet which is my absolute favorite. If you like a more mild creamy flavor and noodles I would recommend the golden mountain noodles which my six year old son loves - the chilis are served as a garnish so you can go high heat or no heat depending on your preference. My recommendation would be to bring a big group of friends and family and order as many variety of things as you can and share.

All the positive reviews are spot on…the owner of this place is great. Very friendly, she even brought me a complimentary appetizer(Spit Yellow Pea Fritters w/ dipping sauce). It was really good, I would order it every-time I came going forward…it was that good. I ordered the The Gold Mountain Noodle with chicken. It was great, did not disappoint and not too spicy. This is my first experience with Burmese food. I didn’t know hat expect but I’m an instant fan. It was not busy at all here either, only one other table at 5pm on a Saturday. Total hidden gem. The hot Burmese Tea was really good as well. Yes, they have beer and wine here. The owner mentioned they’ve struggled since COVID, give this place a try and support an excellent owner operated local restaurant. She could really use your support and I promise you won’t regret it. Everything about this place was super authentic.

Yelp
I loved this place!! This is like going to your grandma's type feeling when I ate the food. The ambiance was cozy and the type of place you go to if you want to relax, take your time to eat and talk. It is owner run and it looks they are doing multiple jobs at the same time so be prepared to NOT be in a rush. She was a wonderful host. I felt like I was at a friends home not a restaurant. Everything I ate was cooked from scratch and the seasoned well. The tea was loose leaf tea drawn which I loved. I have never eaten Burmese food so I can't tell you if it was good to that standard but, it was good to me. We were the only ones in the place at the odd time we went but, the food tasted like it should be packed. I forgot the names of what was ordered but I'll do my best to describe what was ordered. Cold tea tasted like sweat black tea was good, but for me in the future I would order it NO sugar because I don't like things sweetened. I prefer more bitter side of food. The hot tea was loose leaf drawn and tasted better than a regular tea bag. The Tamerind Curry dish was different with a tartness and it. I enjoyed it because it was all fresh vegetables. The slow cooked beef was tender. The two appetizers were yummy and one was so good I had three orders of them!! We ate two and I brought another one home. It did not reheat well so for future I know, not for left overs. I can't remember the name of the appetizer but it looked like falafels. I wish this place was closer I would go again. Gluten free and Wholefoods plant based options. I forgot the names of the dishes.

Yelp
I spotted this place and in between Lucketts, where we had spent the afternoon, and home in DC, so we gave it a try. We had a reasonable dinner here but this place does not rank with Mandalay Tea leaf salad for appetizer was fine; Nancy tried the "three-layer pork salad," which was pork belly and vegetables; she found it too spicy (the menu did not label it as spicy), and I found the pork belly too fatty. I rank it as OK. For our mains, I had the chili chicken, which was flavored nicely, just chicken slices with no vegetables. Nancy had rangoon noodles, which were a tad bland but that was what she wanted. They have wine and beer, but no list of those -- the choices were the two standard Indian beers and the standard Thai. A hand-lettered sign asked as a favor that we pay cash and we did, although others were paying with credit cards. Not much staff -- one waiter and one chef, but the food came out promptly despite the waiter's disclaimer.

Yelp
We are always excited to go to a restaurant we have never been to before. This is even more so when it is a type of cuisine that we don't get to enjoy often.  And, when the restaurant comes recommended, we look forward to a great, novel experience even more.  That is why we were so disappointed with our meal at Taste of Burma.  We had done our research and looked at reviews and lists of dishes to try and we were ready.  The good news -The place itself is a small but neat and cute with Burmese art on the walls of the cubby like areas.  The tables are well spaced and comfortable.  There is plenty of parking in the shopping center lot.  The first bad news was the service.  It was incredibly slow.  Not only to order and between courses, but, the wait for our check was at least 20 minutes.  It was so long that I got up to try and find someone outside the kitchen door twice. Still no luck. This is a way to ruin any meal.  We were also disappointed when we asked for recommendations from our server.  We often ask, what the server themselves likes or what they have heard their customers really like or what the place is known for, for example.  We got no response.  We said we liked lots of flavor and spice and are happy to try anything.  The only thing we were told, after an uncomfortable silence, is that "everything is good."  Of course, everything is good.  What restaurant is going to put something they think is awful on their menu? She finally mentioned one dish and we chose the others based on what we had researched and what sounded interesting.  To our surprise, the food was a lot more bland than expected.  The only dish with some stronger flavor was the tea leaf salad which had taste and some nice crunch from the peanuts.  The split pea fritters we had read about were fine.  The golden tempura was really well fried and nice and hot and crisp.  It just didn't have a lot of taste.  For entrees, we ordered the Mongolian beef which was ok and the yellow curry noodles which was the dish our server finally recommended.  Again, not much flavor.  We would have tried a dessert but after waiting and waiting and waiting most of us had to leave.  I understand that any restaurant is a labor of love and we truly appreciate the heart and hard work that goes into it.  However, based on our experience, and the number of restaurants we are so fortunate to have in our area, we do not have the time or the interest to return.

Yelp
Came here to grab lunch with a friend. I love Southeast-Asian cuisine, and the menu here was right up my alley. I tried the Burmese Iced Coffee, Rice Paper Summer Rolls, Green Mango Salad, Gold Mountain Noodle, and Lamb Curry.   I wanted to try the Burmese Iced Tea, but they were out of it, so I opted to try the Burmese Iced Coffee instead. The coffee was good. It had condensed milk and an herbal flavor that I think was cardamom.   The Rice Paper Summer Rolls were good. The ingredients were fresh, and their house-made peanut sauce was creamier than a Vietnamese peanut sauce and had a nice spicy kick to it. The Green Mango Salad was also fresh, but it felt like they either forgot or were out of dressing in preparing my order.   The Gold Mountain Noodle was tasty and creamy. I would have liked the noodles to have a nicer, al-dente-like bite to them as they were a little overcooked for my taste. My order also seemed to be missing the crunchy textural component that other pictured orders had, and I think that the textural contrast would have made the dish more complete. The Lamb Curry was a standard and good curry.   Overall, I liked the menu here and found it refreshing. Nothing I tasted was bad, but it wasn't amazing either. I would come back here if I'm in the area again, but I would make sure that they have all the ingredients and menu items that I'm interested in trying beforehand.

Yelp
Truly authentic Burmese food - the Golden Mountain Noodles and crispy Split Pea Fritters hit the spot! The restaurant is primarily take-out and sometimes temporarily closed for dining in. While the squishy fried Burmese Yellow Pea Tofu was fun to try, it was quite savory and prefer the Split Pea Fritters. They were bursting with flavor in a nice crispy shell and surprisingly not spicy, the sauces on the side have a  spicy kick!   The creamy Golden Mountain Noodles with egg and soft tofu basking in coconut curry is divine. Hands-down the most unique dish I've had this year! It's so flavorful and while rice noodles may soak up the curry a bit better than stringy spaghetti like wheat noodles, I devoured all the noodles and asked for a spoon to get every last drop of the curry. The crispy wonton chips are a nice garnish. While my nose wasn't running, the curry does a bit of a spicy kick! As recommended by the owner, mix in the onions and all the toppings into the curry, it helps elevate the flavor. The Pad Thai is also very flavorful with large blocky chunks of tofu. It's more saucy and not dry like at most restaurants. Skip the oily Singapore noodles! They were very oily, just save your appetite for the Golden Mountain Noodles! The older Burmese lady owner is sweet and please be kind and respectful. She's diabetic and puts in 100%. Even though she posted a sign that the restaurant was open for take-out only due to short staffing, she kindly made an exception for my hubby and toddler. I forgot to specify that I wanted tofu with the Golden Mountain Noodles as I'm a vegetarian, and received it with chicken by default, and she patiently remade the dish. Have been back 3 times, my go-to Burmese spot! Worth the trek from McLean for the Golden Mountain Noodles!

Yelp
I've always been curious about Burmese food, and recently started searching for ones nearby. I was happy to see that there was one right by me that also received good reviews! The restaurant isn't currently doing dine-in, which was okay because I prefer takeout. I don't know if it was that specific day, but I had some difficulty calling in and the phone kept ringing with no answer. After several attempts, someone finally picked up and I was able to place my order. When I arrived there (about 35 minutes later), my food was ready, and I could already tell how good it was going to be because of the smell. I ordered the yellow split pea fritters, fermented tea leaf salad, Gold Mountain Noodle, and the Triple layer pork stir fry. I loved all of it, except the fermented tea leaf salad. I had high hopes for that one based on reviews, but I thought it was a bit too bitter for my taste (and this is coming from someone who enjoys bitter melon). The pork stir fry and noodles were so tasty. I would definitely order those again. Although the prices are a bit steep compared to the portion size, I'm glad I decided to give it a try. I will likely be back for more!

Yelp
Don't be afraid to check out Burmese food! It's a country (now called Myanmar - formerly Burma) right next to Thailand, so the food is very similar. I have been here several times (a lot before COVID) and enjoyed sitting inside with friends. As of today, check out their website to ensure that they are open, as they are usually closed on Mon and Tues. website: https://atasteofburma.net Monday & Tuesday: Closed Wednesday - Sunday: 11am - 8pm Food (5/5): Hands down, this dish is one of my most favorite scallop dishes I have ever had - Spicy Scallops- Sea scallops stir fried with string beans in a garlic chili sauce this dish is definitely worth trying if you love scallops! My second favorite dish is: Asian Pumpkin Curry - Pumpkin cooked with onion, garlic and lemongrass - you can really taste the red curry and coconut milk in this dish. I have tried to recreate it at home and just can't get it right....take out is much easier! Also stars: Shrimp and Asian Pumpkin - not as flavorful as the asian pumpkin curry but it has shrimp:) Chili Shrimp - this has the same yummy flavor as the Spicy scallops but with shrimp. Tea Leaf Salad - One of my friends loves this salad. It's a fermented tea leaf salad that seems really healthy but has an odd flavor. Service (4/5): The owner, Jona is very sweet. She's having a hard time getting servers so she's only open Wednesday through Sunday (Monday and Tuesday closed.) She oddly had me pay via Zelle, which was fine, but a bit odd.

Yelp
This place was one that i tried for takeout during peak pandemic, but my return to a more conventional dine-in experience did nothing to lower my opinion of them. The menu is diverse and vegetarian-friendly, and I got a salad with a heavy dose of the uniquely Burmese "chickpea tofu" as well as a basil tofu dish made out of the regular soybean stuff, and a chai. And it was all just fantastic. Their sauces incorporate a heavy dose of tamarind, which is sweet, but balanced by bitter flavors like the basil and an ample dose of chili. Was the chili powder and hot sauce on the side necessary? No. But you can bet I poured a bunch of that stuff on my dishes. Even the chai was richly flavored, in addition to being hot enough that I spooned most of the ice over from my water so I could drink it. I've still yet to try their noodle dishes, but their ability to produce complex, distinctive, and unique flavors bodes well for anything one might order.

Yelp
Had dinner here on a Saturday evening and we were the only ones there. After seating us, we waited for a while before someone came out to take our order. If it wasn't for the fact that I've been wanting to try Burmese food, I probably would've normally walked out. When the server finally came out, there were communication issues when asking questions about items on the menu. Hopefully the service is not always like this. The food was really good though. We ordered the Tea Leaf Salad, Gold Mountain Noodle and Triple Layer Pork Stir Fry. The salad was definitely something I've never had before. I can't explain the flavor, but it was just good. The noodles were okay and could've used a bit more seasoning and sauce. The pork belly however, was delicious! I definitely want to come back and try more dishes.

Rebecca A.

Yelp
We came to eat at Taste of Burma on a Saturday evening. The bottom line is that while the food was solid, the service was lacking, which is why I docked a star. It took 15 minutes just to have someone take our order and there was a persistent communication issue. Perhaps they were low on staff as we were the only ones in the restaurant and saw a single server. There were sounds coming from the kitchen where I think people were busy preparing pickup orders. Once our order was finally taken, the food came out quickly. We ordered the triple layer pork, golden noodles, tea salad and chai tea. The pork was slightly spicy but had great flavor. The tea salad was fresh and crunchy with delightful pine nuts and peanuts. The golden noodles was the only dish I wouldn't consider ordering again as it was bland and lacking in depth of flavor and quantity of sauce. I was disappointed as I've had this dish in another Burmese restaurant in another state and it blew my mind. The chai tasted only like sweet milky black tea. It lacked the spice usually associated with chai. I plan to return to try other dishes on the menu but the poor service gives me pause.

Yelp
We drove all the way to this restaurant today as it has been on our list of Asian restaurants to try. The restaurant was relatively quiet during lunch time on Friday and has two signs telling customers that they are short-staffed. So we were prepared that we wouldn't be served immediately, even though there were only three tables with guests in the room. We waited for 20 minutes with no one coming to take our order (all the other three tables all had their food served). Then, I asked the lady at the reception to take our order. She didn't even bother to listen to me and kept saying "the food is coming". We even didn't order anything, how come the food is coming? I told her someone had to take our order first. Then, she shouted at me "you know we are short-staffed, right?" I walked back to our seat and she continued chatting with someone waiting for his delivery I guess, without coming to us. We left and ended not eating here after such a long drive. We wanted to be empathetic about any difficulty neighborhood restaurants like this has gone through, but as customers, we also wanted to have basic respect. Throughout this communication, there wasn't a single sorry or at least showing respect.

Hari V.

Yelp
We have been regular takeout customers for the past 5 years even during the pandemic since there is no where else where you can trust the hygiene of food preparation. We always order the tamarind curry, green curry, golden mountain noodles, fried tofu and summer roll for our family. Ms. Jona is always smiling and her food as we tell her feels home cooked along with its bold flavors.

Yelp
I was devastated when Myanmar Restaurant (in Falls Church, VA) closed, but they directed us here to their sister restaurant. Ok, technically sister-in-law's restaurant :) ... but I digress. Maybe you're thinking: I don't know anything about Burmese food and I don't know what to do. FEAR NOT, I'm here for you with this simple five step process: Step 1: Order the pickled green tea leaf salad. - yes, those words belong together. - no, really. - trust me: I wouldn't have ordered it either if a friend hadn't told me to. Step 2: Consider ordering another salad. - I haven't tried them all yet, but I swear I will. omg so good. Step 3: Add a noodle dish! - Start with the Gold Mountain Noodle if you're not sure which way to go. - Again, I swear I will try all of these. Step 4: Add a vegetable or two - Tamarind veg curry is a good choice to mix up the flavors - Eggplant is good if you're leaning savory - Pumpkin is good if you're leaning sweet Step 5: Add some meat (if you're into that kind of thing) - You legit can't go wrong - Get the mustard with the triple layer pork Ok, I lied, the secret sixth step is: ENJOY. Because you CAN'T NOT. Such unique flavors even if you've got broad foodie experience. Caveats: (1) You might be thinking: this is a lot of food! I can't eat all that. Doesn't matter. Take what you can't eat home (assuming you can do that). It'll keep just fine. (2) When I went they were short staffed and could only handle 2 tables seated at a time. It's a travesty :( (3) Feel free to chat with the owner while you're there (if she has time). It's a sad story, but inspiring. (4) Don't be pressed for time and expect to dine & leave as happy as you started. Be emotionally prepared for it to take some time.

Yelp
I have been hearing a lot about Burmese food and decided I wanted to give it a try on a Sunday afternoon. Yelped this place as the closet (I live in Tysons, but after this review you will see it is well worth the drive) and called and made an order for a goat curry, paratha, Singapore street noodles, and a semolina cake. The lady on the phone who took my order was so sweet (anyone who calls you hunny really is) and within 20mins my food was ready. FYI - she told me over the phone is is only accepting cash and/or zelle. Now to the food, everything was packaged nicely and warm when I got home. The curry had a rich fragrance, but nothing super strong like an Indian or Paki curry. I could tell the baste was more tomato-ish and to sum it up this curry is like Thai + Indian had a baby. Frangrant but mild spices, coconut milk, lemongrass all came through and it was quite honestly one of the best curries I have ever had (I just wish there was more!). Goat was tender, and still had some bone which added even more flavlor. 5/5 dish for sure. The noodles were also delicious, almost like a curried noodle without the sauce. I liked my noodles dried and wok-fried so these were perfect and would recommend if you're looking for a light noodle since these are made with vermacelli. Finally, they were out of the semolina cake but the owner threw in a tapioca pudding for free! Honestly, service alone here is spot on I feel like I am dining at my grandmother's house. I can't wait to order more and try (and hopefully make) Burmese cuisine in the future.

Yelp
A definite "FIVE STAR" restaurant all around! We decided to visit "A Taste of Burma" for the food, and it was delicious. However, everything about our dining experience was amazing, and I can't recommend this restaurant enough! Here's what we liked: The Food: Absolutely phenomenal. I spent a week in Myanmar a few years ago, and this place really took me back. The Green Mango salad was great, the Split Yellow Pea Fritters were one of the best appetizers I've ever had (and completely true to the roadside snack that's popular in Myanmar), the noodles were super yummy, and the Semolina Cake was the perfect way to finish off the night. They also have Burmese beer! The Service: The head cook, who was born in Burma and was taught to cook this food by her mother, was awesome. Not only did she make sure we enjoyed our meals, but she also spent a lot time talking to us about her life, telling us stories of her mother and of her home country. Everything came out really quick, and the prices were great! The ambiance: they have some cool artwork from Myanmar, and the restaurant itself is comfy. The bathrooms are clean, and parking is ample! All in all, a must try Burmese restaurant!

Yelp
Delicious Burmese food!! I got takeout so my husband and friends could try it for the first time. We ordered several dishes to go. The owner is so kind and welcoming. The food is delicious and authentic- try the coconut noodles or beef curry. Also, bring cash to pay if you have it. Looking forward to ordering from here again on my next trip home!

Yelp
Was asked to accept a meal I didn't order because the kitchen was busy. Told it was because of pandemic??? The food was good just not what I ordered and took a long time to get service. My mistake I'm not looking at dates of reviews which were as at least a year old! Again Food was good!

Yelp
We didnt even have a chance to taste the food but we wouldnt give the business to this owner. We came in as a party of 9 on Sunday around 11:30am. There was completely empty as it just opened, but we had to wait for 30 mins without any help. There was no water not any check in even though there was no one else. When we politely came to find the owner/waiter to take orders, she DID roll her eyes and asked us to wait since she was busy with a take out order. She did not even say sorry or explained any situation. Then we decidedAsian Pumpkin Curry to leave even though we were hungry and had small kids. The owner saw us leaving and just said "You guys can leave and you don't have a chance to eat our food". Excuse me, lady - we are not that desperate to eat your food. We don't want be treated badly even though we totally understand the hard time with restaurant business. Our family used to own the restaurant before and we understood the frustration with staffing and everything but we wont ever treat our customers badly.

Yelp
All the reviews were spot on! The food is from the heart. The owner called me honey and I loved it. I arrived early since I was close. I happily waited for the food to be ready. Everything I ordered was delicious, mouth watering, amazing. My 14 year old daughter that has a very sophisticated palette was humming and nom nom nom the whole time she was eating. She had the biggest smile on her face. Presently eating the leftovers for lunch. I will tell everyone I work with and come in contact with in this area about this place. Let's support these local family owned restaurants that bring their authentic food to our neighborhoods! THANK YOU AND YUMMMMMMMMMM

Debbie C.

Yelp
Exceptional spot for wonderful Burmese delights. The restaurant is operated by 2 sisters who do it all (wait tables, cook, serve and take phone orders), so be patient and get rewarded with a delicious meal. Our third dinner continued our craving to go back again and again. Enjoyed each wonderful flavor combination from the curry coconut sauces to a superb fermented tea leaf salad.

Khine H.

Yelp
Was there on the way back to DCA and stopped by. Tried fried tofu, Moh-him-gha and fried squash. All are excellent. And then ordered shrimp salad. It's not that my liking as we preferred from the one at Lee Hwy which is now closed.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Authentic Burmese cuisine. We live in the Northwest, but stop in on all of our trips the DC area. Food: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars Atmosphere: 5 Stars The food is made to your specifications when you order. The owner is from Burma and that comes through in every dish. I enjoy the Mongolian Beef and my husband loves the Sweet Basil Chicken. Nothing is overpoweringly spicy, but it is all full of rich flavor. If you want to spice it up there is chili paste on the table. If you want to try a new interesting place, this is it.

Karunakaran D.

Yelp
This place never disappoints. Their pigeon pea fritters is a must have. Loved their tea leaf salad and Gold mountain noodle.

Blair G.

Yelp
Very good Burmese food and choices. Severing sizes are on the small side but good for sharing with others. I know the cook has changed recently

Charan V.

Yelp
My friends and I came here to grab a late lunch. We were told that this was a wonderful restaurant and we were not disappointed. The owner was extremely kind to us and treated us like her children. She gave us extra food free of charge and conversed with us about our common interests in Southeast Asian food/cooking. We ordered a Chicken Mango Curry, a Tea Leaf Salad, and a Singapore Street Noodles. The food was amazing and so flavorful. All the food was cooked with love. In addition, this woman was also helping feed a customer who could not pay for their meal. This is by far the best restaurant experience I have had. I was treated with kindness and the food was beyond amazing.

Yelp
If you have not tried this place, please stop and get take out. You will not be disappointed. The classic fish soup and samosas with the spicy dipping sauce are to die for on a cold day! If you are eating healthy but are suck of basic salads, try the mango or papaya salad or if feeling adventurous the tea leaf salad is funky but delisious! My kids love the Rangoon noodles and I love the shrimp in chili sauce as well as tofu with pickled mustard greens. The owner is very kind and the restaraunt is very clean and usung all covid protocols from what I can see when picking up take out.

Yelp
The food was quite decent , the service needs a big improvement as the single staff was probably overwhelmed and all over the place with orders , delivery, timings , not bad but also not memorable enough to call from second visit

Yelp
I have been wanting to come here for a while now. This place got me into Burmese food; really interesting flavors. Tea Leaf Salad: It was a lot of different flavors; garlic, nuts, and tea. It was an interesting taste and I'm glad we got to try it. Chicken and mango curry: Delicious. This dish has pickled mangoes which is yum. Coconut shrimp curry: this dish was the best. So fragrant and flavorful. It was the perfect amount of sweetness and spiciness. Goat curry: The meat was very tender and curry was very rich and tasty. Paratha: crispy and flaky. Service: was pretty good but slow. From the whole experience, A Taste of Burma is an excellent destination restaurant with authentic and very flavorful Burmese dishes. The staff is very nice and seems sincerely interested in making sure you are happy. I would definitely recommend trying the tea leaf salad, Coconut shrimp curry, and Paratha.

Yelp
Wish it were open more often. I love the Chili chicken and the lemongrass soup. Of late I've only found myself in the area on Monday/Tuesday *sigh*

Yelp
Went there on a Friday night with some good friends based on their recommendation. Having been to hundreds of Asian restaurants (Thai, Indian, Indonesian, Malaysian, etc.) I'm not that easily impressed. This was impressive. All our dishes were really good, from the Samosas & Calamari to the Coconut Chicken Curry, Singapore Street Noodle, and the Green Curry. If you like Thai or Indian food you need to check this place out. Fabulous.

Yelp
The owner, Jona, is simply the sweetest thing. The food is so good, we have been her customer for the past 12months and order once every 5 wks or so. If your wanting authentic, home-cooked, 'comfort' food, go there :) One of our family favorites for sure! Our fav dishes are chic coconut curry, Yellow Noodle, spicy eggplant and semolina dessert

Yelp
Goat curry and gold mountain noodles were both awesome on our first trip. We were craving it by the following weekend, husband demanded the goat curry again. I got the spicy beef which was yummy, but not as memorable as the gold mountain noodles. We've already decided we're going to be regulars here.

Yelp
Never heard of this place but was doing something in the area and yelp led me to this spot. Super fun and cute place! The inside is so cute with great decor and fun Burmese music playing in the background. Great vibes. It's also a very casual but adventurous foodie spot. I've never had Burmese food before and this was a great first experience! The golden mountain noodles were reallY delicious, I added more chili flakes for my preference. My friend got the lamb curry, and that was also delicious, comes with a side of white rice. Lastly, we ordered the farluda, which neither of us had before, but it was really yummy- definitely recommend it but probably enough to share with someone.

Yelp
Wow. I started with the ginger salad which was beyond my expectations and very refreshing. I had the Mongolian beef and hubby ordered sweet basil beef and they were both surprisingly amazing. Jona was super accommodating and had great recommendations. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Jona.

Yelp
A hidden gem in northern Virginia near the Dulles mall. An unassuming location in a strip mall, a great dining experience overall. We've been coming here for years as a family and the food is always great.

Yelp
The best Burmese food i ever ate. The owner is a nice person. I highly recommend to try here.

Yelp
This place never fails when you want authenticity food! We came back with our friends and neighbors for the delicious crispy shrimp with bean sprout...Among other dishes are Mongolian beef and the spicy beef dishes. Their curry is very tasty as well! The owner is so warm and hospitable. Definitely a family place!

Yelp
Great meal with excellent value for the money. COVID is impacting their service speed, but they are well worth the wait. The pork belly was awesome! They do a lot of business via takeout. But, they still have dine-in. Swing by if you get the chance.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant. Unfortunately the owner has, like so many other restaurants now, been having trouble finding and keeping wait staff. So please be patient as she needs cash or Zelle payment, and may only be able to accommodate your take out order rather than in-person seating. Get the samosas - absolutely amazing. I love the Singapore street noodles, pad thai, and Thai Basil chicken. I can't do spicy so the owner/chef is really sweet about checking with me to make sure I'm happy. She's a sweetheart!

Yelp
This was my first time visiting since I was young and the dishes are the same amazing quality that I remember. The owner is a lovely woman who is happy to share stories with her guests as she answers calls, cooks, and serves them as well. Please be patient with her as the food is well worth the wait. The coconut curry and yellow pea fritters are my favorite. She is accepting zelle, cash and check only right now but I promise you that this place is the real deal, one of my favorite restaurants in NOVA!

Yelp
This was my first time trying Burmese food and I can safely say we were more than satisfied!!! The samosas were the best out of any I've ever had before (wish I'd gotten two honestly) and noodles I practically inhaled, I'll definitely be back soon thank you so much!

Yelp
Words can not describe how incredibly good Taste of Burma is. Chef Jona Davis is a unique person - her passion for cooking is infectious. Whenever I am within 20 miles, I get a take away order of the chili chicken and semolina cake. Really anything that you order will be exceptionally good. It's a perennial best restaurant in Sterling, VA. The cuisine of Burma is not well represented in the US, but it should be. Chef Jona Davis is doing her best to correct that. Yelp
We tried this place last night. We were intrigued by the menu. We were not disappointed in the food. They have some many interesting dishes, many are vegetarian too. We had Mongolian Beef (my favorite), pumpkin and shrimp curry, noodles and goat curry. The portions were good and the food was excellent. We also had the calamari appetizer and it was light and the fish tender. The desserts were interesting too. I enjoyed the semolina cake the best. The servers here are also very nice. The chef came out several times to check on us. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Never had Burma food. It was very very very GOOD. I had the mango salad and my husband had the Golden mountain Noodles. The salad had a bit of kick to it but went away. Very Very delicious. the Golden mountain noodles was very very delicious . The owner is a very sweet lady. She is having trouble with keeping staff. So she is doing everything which can get a bit hard for one person. So everyone out there PLEASE BE PATIENT. The food all around is very very good she puts her heart and joy into making these meals. She's a good person.

Yelp
Came here for a late lunch on a weekend - there was only one other table seated when we got there, so it wasn't too busy. The food was awesome- from the chai tea to the yellow pea appetizer to the very filling mango chicken entree. The service was scattershot - the waitress was very apologetic up front and told us that it was her second day and that she was all alone (so we went super easy on her), but she clearly wasn't used to working in a restaurant so I'm not sure why management did that. It meant that a bunch of things were out of joint - for example, having to ask for plates, napkins, silverware and water (while eating spicy food!), and the odd fact that there was no music or anything in the background so that when other tables came in, you could hear EVERYTHING they were saying from across the restaurant. We could even hear the chefs conversing in the kitchen. So the food was great, but I'm chocking the rest of the issues with ambience and service to a management choice to leave a newbie alone serving.

Yelp
Seeking something different, we grabbed takeout from here last week. We ordered the golden mountain noodles, lamb curry, tea leaf salad, samosas, and a slice of the semolina cake. Other reviews were accurate, some of the portions were on the small side. All that got us 4 portions but two of those portions were smaller. The lamb, tea leaf salad, and samosas were all delicious. The cake was good too. The noodles were by far the largest portion. I loved them, my husband only liked them. The problem was that when we arrived to pick up the food, the hostess was slammed taking takeout orders on the phone. Our food was sitting right there but my husband had to wait 15 minutes inside to pay. During that time the noodles congealed so there really wasn't much of a sauce. The bit of sauce we tasted was good but the chili flakes mixed in made it great. We will definitely be back, but the prices and portion size prohibit this from being a weekly takeout option for us. If the lamb portion was increased by 1/3rd and the salad portion was larger we would come here every week!

Yelp
Great curry dishes. Fantastic appetizer Fried Tofu with a hint of curry spice. So good. We will be coming back to try the rest of the menu

Yelp
Coconut Curry Chicken! Just Get it - the best thing on their menu! I had imagined the tastes to be similar to Thai food, since the names looked so familiar, but trust me when I say this is SUPER different from anything else you have ever had! It has a different (good different) Burmese taste , some spices that I believe are typical to Burma. Loved every bite of it. We also got the crispy catfish in Mango sauce, which was sweet, tangy, yummilicious!! The Papaya Salad was again super yum - NOTHING like typical thai papaya salad. It has a very different taste to it - earthy undertones of some serious spices! A must try! The place is family owned, the service can be a hit or a miss, but I wont take a star off for that, since the food is super yummy! Will be going back soon to try all the other dishes! :) :)

Yelp
A Taste of Burma - why are you located so far away? If you had a shop closer - like...Alexandria for example...I would be there EVERY DAY. Maybe it's good that it's a once in a while treat, because otherwise, I'd be on the news when the paramedics have to get a crane to get me out of my bed. Best friend and I went on a friday afternoon (Nov 9) for a late lunch and was greeted by the chef herself (whose name I forgot to write down.) She's awesome and friendly and chatted with us for a bit and talked about awesome tasty foods and hilariously picky customers. Loved her! The food? AMAZING. Get the Tea leaf salad, because it's awesome. The ginger salad is refreshing and palate cleansing and so delicious. Get the sample appetizer platter so you get a bit of everything: the tofu in particular is so tasty (perfectly fried and crisp on the outside, creamy and smooth inside.) We also got 2 different noodle dishes (Mandalay chicken noodles and Singapore noodles) that we tried our best to finish even though we were full to bursting (we took the leftovers home). The chef also sent out a complementary slab of the cream of wheat cake that was smooth and coconut-y and amazing. We quite literally rolled out of the restaurant; stuffed to the gills, so happy with the delicious food.
