This little bar close to Ebisu station was one of the highlights of my time in Tokyo. Yes, I admit I did come from Instagram, but I was thoroughly impressed with the experience.
The secret entrance is a fun way to engage with the bar - and engage you must - as the venue is beautiful. Inside, the bar is spacious yet filling, with soft and delicate lighting tones that create an intimate and relaxed setting. Live vinyls being spun adds a unique touch to the experience - on our visit, the playlist was mainly composed of swing and jazz - and the beauty is that every visit is unique depending on the soundtrack. It was fantastic to see the DJ handpicking vinyls from the beautiful wall behind the bar.
The drinks here are fantastic. We perused and sampled from the varied cocktail menu, which ranges from Japanese twists on old-time classics to cocktails that completely re-define the drinking experience. While we couldn’t take photos, one of my favourite cocktails was presented in a fragrance container on a tray with pearl necklaces and fancy earrings, and I had to pour the drink from the fragrance glass into the martini glass. Another cocktail transports you to the movies with its mix of sweet caramel and salty butter flavour, presented in a glass that resembles a popcorn container.
A10 forces you to engage with itself, which I really enjoyed. The service here was second to none, our drinks arrived swiftly and our bartenders were fantastic and offered excellent recommendations.
The Instagram hype is real. Definitely come here for a good time and an even better experience!
