Pianos Review - Lower East Side - New York - The Infatuation

"Here at The Infatuation, we put a lot of effort into marrying our passions for both music and food, and we love it when we find examples of other people doing the same. If you have ever been to Pianos to see a band in the back room, you probably didn't expect that it's the kind of place that would turn out some damn good bar food. It's usually crowded as hell with a mix of indie music nerds and girls that just moved to the city who loooove the Lower East Side. Also, it smells like a dirty basement. Regardless, they have a great selection of bar fare that you wouldn't expect to find in a place like this, and it's obvious that they care about quality. The only downside is that tables can be hard to come by if you're there during the Lower East Side high tide of humans and if you sit upstairs, there is a good chance you'll be eating to the special sounds of an amateur musician on a borrowed guitar. Either way, next time you're at Pianos, sit down at a table and grab some chow to soak up the booze. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Food Rundown Grand Pianos Nachos A perfect example of thought and effort going into a bar menu...this is not a pile of Tostitos dumped onto a plate with salsa and cheese. These nachos come with chickpeas and a Mediterranean salsa that make them something completely unique and very good. Fried Calamari Yes, this seems like a bad idea. Any kind of fresh seafood from a place like Pianos seems risky on the surface, but this calamari is slammin'. Simple, but well seasoned and tender. Grand Piano Burger The burgers at Pianos are of the gourmet variety, with twists and turns that make them enjoyable and different. The Grand Piano comes with Emmental cheese (basically a Swiss cheese that melts nicely) and a house tomato sauce. Good stuff. Goat Cheese Burger I am a big goat cheese fan, and this burger hits the spot. Fresh goat cheese and mushrooms, and basil give it a nice light and fresh taste. Seared Tuna Sandwich Again, a rare tuna sandwich is something most would typically avoid at a bar, but this sandwich might be my favorite thing on the menu at Pianos. The tuna is perfectly done, and the sandwich is almost panini style, with avocado and a ginger soy dressing." - Chris Stang

Google
I’m overall pleased with my purchase of an upright Yamaha piano from A440 Pianos. My rating: between 4 and 5. Why not just give a 5. Price: The piano was fairly priced based on my research. Delivery: Despite a challenging path involving 20 steps and a 90-degree turn, the delivery crew did an excellent job. The piano and my house were left without a scratch. Communication: Pascal was responsive and reasonable to work with. Piano: Tuning wasn’t included, as agreed. After placing the piano, Pascal ensured it was in proper working order. We later verified this with a professional, who gave it a thumbs-up. Snag: One issue was with the bench. Although it was part of the agreement, Pascal didn’t bring it, believing otherwise. I had to provide our prior conversation as proof. I had to pick up the bench from their warehouse, which added an hour of inconvenience. Overall, I still consider A440 Pianos a decent place for piano purchases and services.

I have wanted a Baby Grand Piano since the age of three. I told my mother. But, she stated that we were not able to afford such a piano or any style of piano. Fast forward almost 69 years later. A friend of a friend was moving and wanted to gift her baby grand piano to someone. My friend remembered my desire/wish to have a baby grand piano and spoke to her friend about my desire/wish. The friend of my friend stated that she would gift me the piano if I could make arrangements to have it picked up from her home and delivered to my home by the next day. The very next day, Mr. Paschal and his son of A440 Pianos, did just that. Now I have been blessed with this awesome blessing. Mr. Paschal was always very polite and professional when we spoke on the phone. Eighteen hours later, my home is not the home of a baby grand piano. Mr. Paschal and his company are kind, professional, and patient. If you wish to purchase or have a grand piano or baby grand piano moved A440 Pianos is the ONLY company to contact. (FYI. In three years, on my 75th birthday, I will give a Concert.) Guess who will be my honored guests? Sincerely, O. R. (August 7, 2025; 3:12 p.m.)

We visited and tested many pianos at the warehouse. Very impressive how Charles works on the pianos. We ended up buying a Steinway and are very pleased with the purchase.

Found A440pianos on Ebay while looking for a Yamaha baby grand. They had exactly what I wanted for a very reasonable price. I didn't want to pay for delivery 300 miles away, so I brought a trailer and the crew dismantled the piano and loaded it for a nominal fee. Piano withstood the ride and plays beautifully. The only issue was none of the help at the warehouse could speak English and the owner couldn't be there at pickup because of caring for his mother. Everything still went smoothly inspire of the communication barrier. I would recommend this company.

Google
This was absolutely the best business transaction I have ever made musically. The owner was kind and patient and supportive and gave us great information. Looking forward to having this beautiful classic piece in our home for hundreds of years and it is all because of this great company! Once the piano is set up, I will post pictures. I’m super excited thank you again A440 Pianos!!!!!!

Google
Pascal has good taste in pianos & critical ear. If you are looking for a serious instrument, you will be gratified. I purchased a Yamaha P22 upright from A440 three months ago, along with the crazy request that it be delivered to the attic of a 100 year old 3-story building. Not a problem for Pascal. The team arrived on time in a nice truck with all the gear and dollies and stuff and swiftly performed a miracle. Now my dream piano is in my little attic studio and I can't even believe it.

Google
A440 Pianos is OUTSTANDING!!! Pascal - the owner - is incredibly smart and accommodating. He was willing to listen to what I was looking for and offered a large variety of options. The most notable thing was he somehow has this instinct of knowing exactly what it was. He steered me towards a Kawai and demonstrated everything I was trying to communicate. It was breathtaking. Needless to say, I purchased it and the delivery was flawless. Additionally, Pascal keeps in touch and has supported me in this wonderful journey. Exceptionally beautiful piano with amazing sound. Thank you, Pascal. The universe somehow knows how to connect people.... Until next time, I will be enjoying the incredible sound of this piece of heaven. Cheers :)

Yelp
Sure, he sells pianos on several different sites, under several different names. Hey, "marketing 101." Smart businessman. However, when he said "call me" and I did, I felt as if I was talking to an old friend. Hundreds of pianos for sale across several sites, and he takes the time to talk to me, walking me through some concerns, making recommendations based on my needs... I haven't bought one from him yet, but his company/companies are at the top of my list!

Lauren M.

Yelp
Pascal is a scammer! BUYER BEWARE!!! He posted a "piano for sale" that he does not have in his possession. This was a piano another lady recently sold on Facebook marketplace, and he stole her pictures to post on his website. I have been in contact with this lady (since talking with Pascal), and she did not sell her piano to him!!

Yelp
I had an issue with my pedals on my baby grand. I called him, and he answered in his truck and helped me fix the issue! He knows exactly what he is doing. Thank you so much!

Yelp
Pascal was wonderful! He delivered my beautiful U3 Yamaha piano. He delivered it himself and it sounds amazing. The buying process was easy and very reliable. I will recommend Pascal Gear Garage to anyone looking to purchase a piano.

Jayme M.

Yelp
Pascal delivered me the wrong piano. I have the pictures text msg serial number of piano promised not delivered. If I didn't quickly check the website for piano serial numbers and pictures which have along with emails to support my case. He did not play this piano on his website and I understand why. In addition he damaged my house & additionally no reputable mover seller requires a seller's husband to help move a piano) and offers no recompense. I'm in the process of looking to see if the instrument can be repaired with a reputable company since the piano is not in great condition and will need thousands of dollars of work to make it right. If it looks too good to be true it is too good to be true.

Yelp
Great service and family run business! You really feel like you aren't being taken advantage of and you never feel like you are being pushed into a sale. They have everything you might need at a lot of different price ranges. I found my dream piano after going and playing his pianos a few different times. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
A440 Pianos had the perfect white baby grand piano for my mother-in-law's new home. Mr. Pascal was super friendly and fair. The delivery was on time as scheduled. He even played some tunes on the piano after setup and we enjoyed that! Made me want to learn how to play! I highly recommend A440 pianos for your piano needs!

Yelp
Pascal is terrific. He delivered and tuned my newly-acquired Bösendorfer B200 with care and efficiency, (and met the transport date I needed). And, after tuning, he delivered a mini-concert which filled our living room with glorious sound, proving the wisdom of my decision, on both the B200 and Pascal. Couldn't be happier. Easy to work with, and a gentleman. B

Yelp
Great job moving and tuning the piano. Although it's important to note that the price may go up $100 once they reach you "for this or that" various reason. Also important to note tuning IS NOT included in the quote the owner gives you- though their wording in conversation may be a little misleading for some. Quoted $250 for transporting and tuning. Ended up paying $350 for transport (even though they drove to van into the yard and literally right TO the room door where it was to be delivered... then an additional $195 charged for tuning. Total: $545.00 Overall the tuning was done well and they were very careful with the piano, just need some work on customer service...

Yelp
Just had a call from Peru. Guess who? It was Pascal trolling me. I guess he thinks scamming and cheating people is a joke as he was LHAO while telling me I can do all the trashing on social media I want and it won't hurt him because he has cheap prices. Now the latest is he again listed a piano for sale on Craigslist Tampa as if he was selling it privately. Then when you ask for a serial number he gives a bogus number. Then they come back and tell you they have sold it to a wholesaler. His reputation when you check it out is totally garbage. I will continue.

Yelp
To say I was 'hesitant ' to purchase a piano online would be a severe understatement- try 'completely paranoid ' since it's such a big purchase and you can't try it out prior to buying. Let me tell you, our experience with A440 Pianos was simply amazing!!! The company answered all of my questions prior to sale- they are transparent and have fantastic communication - this company's owner is an AAA+++ professional who knows pianos and is a pianist. Payment was super easy online and the piano delivered promptly BY THE OWNER HIMSELF within 2 weeks of purchase and what a deal!!! We received a beautiful, used Yamaha upright piano that looks gorgeous and plays/sounds beautifully for a very reasonable price !!!! Don't hesitate- this is a great company; would do business with them 100 times over!!

Yelp
My husband wanted to surprise me with a piano for Christmas... unfortunately, it turns out to be somewhat difficult to stuff a piano into a stocking, so he was forced to spill the details on the piano he'd bought from a neighbor. After coordinating availability with both Pascal from A440 and the neighbor, we show up to get it done. However, the piano is in a nook in the basement. The only two options for getting it out of the house are up a twisting staircase (uhhh... no) or out into the backyard which is a maze of multi-level decks, stairs, patios, and loose gravel pathways. Owner, Pascal, and his crew have the whole thing figured out in just a few moments. He had initially quoted us a price over the phone to move the piano. When he saw the challenges he was faced with however, he pulled us aside to say that because it was a much more difficult [and riskier] move than originally anticipated, he was going to have to charge a little bit more. He told us this before he moved the piano, so that if we wanted to back out or find someone else we could. I find it very admirable for people to be up-front about things like this. (P.S.- Still a very reasonable price! FYI, cash or check only.) The piano was carefully rolled on a dolly through the delicate downstairs, out onto the back deck and then transported up a wall, over a staircase, and then up the driveway to the truck. If I had been attempting to do this move on my own with a few friends... we would have NOT have thought to go that way. And we probably would have hurt ourselves AND this beautiful instrument in the meantime. Pascal was completely professional and both the house and piano left in immaculate condition. So, then the piano shows up at my brand new home. Let me just throw out this little detail, so you have the same worry in the pit of your stomach that I did: my brand new home has antique hardwood floors. If a board gets scratched, dented, chipped, scraped... I can't just pick it up and replace it. They slid this heavy antique piano into my house like a warm knife through soft butter. (Not actually sliding.) There was not a scratch or ding on a wall, floor, piano... nothing. Perfect. Completely and amazingly perfect. As a life-long pianist, I've had my past pianos moved quite a few times. I have never been as happy as I am now. Not only that, but when we initially called Pascal about moving the piano we inquired as to weather or not he knew of/recommended any good piano tuners in the area. He informed us that he tunes pianos, and for a small additional fee, he would tune the piano after he put it in place. Which he did. Quickly, efficiently, and... par for the course, perfectly! Would I use A440 Piano Movers in the future? Yes. Would I recommend them to my friends and family? Yes. In fact, I plan on calling Pascal to come tune my piano every 5-7 months.

Tony R.

Yelp
I guess I should have read the reviews before hiring this company. DO NOT schedule their service. He cheats customers out of their money. We had a piano tuned and he said it would cost $150. Then he charged us $300 for the tuning and said because it hadn't been tuned for a while he had to double tune it. Kind of like charging you twice to wash a car because it was extra dirty. Never once did he tell us that he was going to charge double prior to tuning it twice. It took him no more than 40 minutes to make $300. When you discuss your concerns with him, he does not care to satisfy the customer. Instead he engages in a hostile, uncooperative manner. Reporting him to the Better Business Bureau.

Yelp
I found this company on yelp and requested a quote to move a small console piano I was buying and they responded within a few hours. Their quote was very reasonable as well! They are very easy to get in contact with via calling or texting and respond quickly. When I asked about open slots and times, they had an opening the next day. I was thrilled and the times worked out with the seller. My piano was picked up and delivered in my home with no problems or damage. I highly recommend them for piano delivery.

Yelp
A perfect piano! A client of mine needed a beautiful piece of functional furniture - something they could play every now and then but would mostly be there to impress, and something that had gravitas and history. They had some big ideas about what they needed and I reached out to a bunch of suppliers, and without fail all of them tried to up-sell me to a brand new, top of the line grand piano. Everyone except Pascal at a440 pianos, who listened to my needs. He actually down-sold me, saved my client a bunch of cash, and provided a wonderful, antique, sexy grand piano that looks as if it's been a part of that living space since the 30's (the austrian piano was made in 1909). I expressed the emphasis on the furniture part of functional furniture - my client plays one night a week maybe - and he sent me photos of several beautiful options. The client picks the one she likes and while it arrived a day later than anticipated (it was traveling across country to LA), it's setup and tuned within a few hours of arrival. It sounds gorgeous, my client couldn't be happier, and if this is one picked for history and aesthetics over it's sound, I have no idea how good the ones with pristine sound could be, because I don't think it could sound better. Need a grand piano? Call Pascal! Apart from the charming french accent, he really goes the extra mile to find you the piano you want based on what you need. Thanks so much! You made me look so good in front my client!!

Hyewon Y.

Yelp
I have right to review as a consumer. I bought a grand piano(Yamaha C3) from A440 piano on 3. 24. 2016. When I bought a piano, it said they are going to include "soften hammer." And in invoice, it said it too. And I definitely thought that the piano would be softened, cause of that I had to pay money. But you said you tuned it but it does not sound proper it should be and it was very easy to spot the rust part of piano and it shouldn't be. And when we asked you to fix the hammer like it says on the invoice, but you asked us to charge money, $395. My daughter, who is working on to be pianist, and since this piano is not proper, I as a parent, it makes me really upset. Look at the picture, everyone would know this is not fixed hammer. so, I cannot understand that you got a "super service award." I really want to solve this problem quickly as possible. Also I don't want anybody have this kind of again.

Yelp
After almost taking the bait and overpaying at one of the metro piano emporiums I came across A440 Pianos by chance. I ended up saving thousands of dollars on the same instrument I was looking at in the store. The owner Pascal was easy to work with and gave me honest information about buying a used piano without the slick sales pitch, biased information, or pressure of a retail establishment in the city. His selection of instruments was also excellent. If your looking for a great piano at an unbeatable price Pascal is the man no question about it.

Matt K.

Yelp
A440 is cheaper than other businesses in the Atlanta area. However they are so unreliable that my time got wasted waiting for them and rescheduling. I do not recommend them unless you have a lot of time in your hands.

Kris T.

Yelp
I just want to let people know that this store posts bunch of piano sale ads at Craig's List using different locations. When you sent e-mail, he/she will send you back with the phone number and Lilburn, GA address even though you e-mailed to the ad located in Suwanee, GA. They may still have good pianos...as I haven't been there nor wish to go, but I disagree the way they do business.

Lexie R.

Yelp
I needed to move my Baldwin Grand piano from my home in Peachtree City, GA to my daughter's home in New Orleans, LA. I struggled to find a qualified piano mover at a reasonable price. After contacting A440, the owner Pascal exceeded my expectations in every way. Pascal actually does the work himself, which guarantees quality. He came to my house right on time. First, he and his helper thoroughly cleaned and tuned the piano, including special attention to filing the hammers. Then they carefully wrapped the piano and stored it for a few days in their climate controlled warehouse awaiting another delivery in that southbound direction. Within a week Pascal let me know that he would be delivering the piano the next day. He communicated the delivery schedule with my son-in-law and arrived at the designated time. The piano was reassembled expertly and was once again tuned. I am so relieved that the job was done by an expert that truly has a passion for music and has sincere respect for fine instruments. If you have need to move, tune or repair your piano, you will not be disappointed with A440.
