16 Best Restaurants on Martha’s Vineyard | Eater Boston

"This popular Oak Bluffs coffee shop is the perfect place to get a shot of espresso or a bottle of natural wine (whatever the vacation moment calls for). The Mediterranean-inspired breakfast and lunch menu offers ful medames (a fava bean and chickpea stew) alongside Cape Cod bagels and eggs. This spot is also a hub for local culinary incubators, often hosting pop-ups and trial concepts from island chefs." - Celina Colby

This is the restaurant that spiraled me into my purple sweet potato powder drink addiction. I’d never even heard of it until I came here. It’s one of my favorite beverages now to this day. I got the Lebanese breakfast and my wife got the wrap. The food is light and delicious. The hash browns are the best we’ve ever eaten, they’re crisp patties that are fried. So good. We sat outside and got a great view to the street. Overall just a peaceful place and great way to start your day at the Vineyard!

Barsnobs

Google
Great coffee but a major wait time. It's crowded and small. If you sit, people will be breathing over you at your table. The coffee is worth the wait. The breakfast food looked amazing. Tell em Barsnobs sent ya!

Google
This is a gem - charming, bright interior, amazing food and lattes, friendly service. I was looking for a breakfast spot with sit down service, which was hard to find on a Wednesday before Memorial Day, but this counter service place delivered (and then some). The portions are huge, very reasonably priced, and every component is thoughtful (chives in the eggs, homemade honey butter, etc). We had a cardamon latte, vanilla latte, the big breakfast, the brown sugar challah french toast, and a side of sausage. Everything was perfection - fluffy biscuit, crispy mashed potato hashbrown, and some of the best french toast I've ever had (fluffy and custardy inside with crispy edges did not even need syrup, though the honey butter made it sing even more!). Could easily share one entree between two people, but was so happy to be able to try so many things. The lattes were perfectly made (and worth the wait for such a well done drink). Go here, try as many things as you can, you won't regret it.

Google
Food was not good at all. Bagels were hard as rock, tuna salad was less then an average (I bet you can do better yourself). Lox bagel was ok, but nothing crazy or fancy like this place want to look/be. Platter was the best meal but again, nothing I would come back for. We did breakfast menu only. Coffee was good though. Get drink only and go eat somewhere else. They have nice seating inside and outside covered patio. Right on the busy back street. You wont find calm place to enjoy drink/meal here. Prices are normal.

Google
Fun vibe with great outdoor seating! The egg sandwich was delish and the hash browns were very good and flavorful. Only complaint is the matcha could’ve been stronger. Tasted little water down. Overall great breakfast spot!

Google
If you walk by and they're not busy stop in. Not worth waiting for but a pleasant bakery with good cold brew and make your own mimosas.

Google
We stopped by to get some coffee and some work done. Ended up also having their soft egg sandwich. Both the coffee and food were delicious and the gentleman running the shop was awesome as well. Highly recommend!!

Google
Aalia's is a new coffee/breakfast/Middle Eastern(yes you read that right!) restaurant located in the heart of Martha's Vineyard. While there are options a plenty on the island, I highly recommend checking this eclectic place out. Here's why.... Common breakfast fair is available, as well as some fresh and unique options like an açaí bowl, Lebanese Breakfast, and Egyptian Fried Eggs. You can't go wrong with the breakfast menu. Serving at the same time is the lunch/dinner menu which is where this place really stands out. They offer three types of shawarma; beef, chicken, and vegetable. Also while supplies last they have an amazing North African chicken that is a dinner exclusive but goes quite fast. If you are visiting the vineyard it is easy to get caught up in the crowded, long waiting line restaurants that are very good, but Aalia's is a gem among so many options. They is plenty of indoor seating, as well as an outdoor area that is family and dog friendly. If you are in Martha's Vineyard you DEFINITELY need to try this place. It will leave you craving more!

Yelp
Came here for a quick breakfast before the beach! Ordered the raspberry chocolate latte which is not my usual order but it was tasty! The Aalia breakfast sandwich was also tasty. Seating is limited inside but the music was a vibe and everyone was friendly!

Yelp
I was excited to try this place for breakfast but there was a long line with minimal seating. Came back in the afternoon and it was a lot better. I enjoyed my drink but wished they stirred the ginger syrup more on the bottom so it wasn't as concentrated. It was a bit hot inside because they leave doors open even though the AC is on. Overall recommend trying for their unique menu options but it can get crowded and a bit stuffy!

Yelp
Really unique breakfast with a middle east twist. As with a lot of place in town, the seating is limited. The sandwich was loaded and I had to use a fork to avoid a mess, which was great! It's enjoyable to find a place that doesn't skimp on quantity. Tons of flavor!

Yelp
dont go if you have an allergy Went last year and it was great and they accommodated my allergy this year i wait 40 minutes in line for them to tell me my opinions for an egg sandwich with a dairy allergy was to take the scrambled eggs with dairy or have a boiled egg sandwich So wasted almost an hour here and thought theyd be able to accommodate due to them having a spot on their online ordering for a dairy allergy and them making me a sandwich in 2024 with a regular over medium egg

Yelp
The ambiance was friendly and inviting, it's a very cozy shop. Unfortunately, it takes so long to get your order. I waited over fifteen minutes for a grilled cheese with two pieces of tomato. The cheese wasn't even melted in the middle of the sandwich. The tomato, focaccia, and shredded mozzarella were cold on the inside and in the photo you can kind of see the pieces that didn't melt. When I opened the sandwich, the shredded cheese just fell out. I wouldn't come back here for food, but I would for a quick beverage.

Yelp
Their raspberry chocolate latte is INSANE. By far my favorite latte from any coffee store in the past few years. It's perfectly balanced and has just the right amount of sweetness vs espresso. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Everything is so delicious like the tater tots and the mortadella sandwich - a must have. Coffee is perfection and the staff is the friendliest.
google avatar

Yelp
Quick stop for coffee and a little snack. They offer multiple coffee and non coffee options for your choosing. They have an incredible bakery option. The blueberry scone was so yummy. Then you can sit outside and people watch.

Yelp
We had breakfast here before beginning our bike ride on the Vineyard. The place was hopping and the food was exceptional. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Eggs were the fluffiest and delicious - some of the best I have ever had. Hash browns and tots must have. Matcha was excellent.

Yelp
Tried the food from Aalia's Coffee today, long line, but worth the wait!!! Egg croissant sandwich was light, fluffy and creamy, just enough chive... great breakfast!!! Got a lemon chicken sandwiches to go, also amazing!!! Here's the thing though, had a cinnamon role, no expectations; usually cinnamon roles are kind of a second hand pastry/desert... these are to die for, they are soft, warm and have a wonderful lemon flavor to compliment the cinnamon! Go there today and get a cup of coffee and a cinnamon role, you will not regret it!!! It's a bit crowded ( good thing in the industry) so get the food to go and ENJOY!!!! Definitely an island institution and head and shoulders above the majority of local fare!!!

Yelp
The service was kind. The menu is interesting. The croissants are fabulous. We came here twice during our stay. We got the Aalia's breakfast and lox bagel. Both were super flavorful. The muffin was good. Husband loved the cinnamon roll. Expect a wait when it's busy, but it's nice to just relax on the covered patio when the weather is nice.

Yelp
Some of the best breakfast I've ever had especially from a casual coffee shop. They have wonderful service everything made from scratch, lovely staff. It was incredibly refreshing to go in there and eat outside on the patio. French toast was to die for. Homemade hash-browns were a home run. I would recommend this place to anybody traveling to Martha's Vineyard

Yelp
Trendy little spot. Only went here for coffee and it was decent, super loud music blaring at 7am which was odd but funny. Walked by Aalia's in the evening and looks like a fun little spot to grab a drink on a first date or with friends on their small patio space. No inside seating.
google avatar

Kareem A.

Yelp
Really good coffee, kind service and it seems like they have a lot of food options. Also open later than other coffee shops! It seems like a nice place to sit off circuit for some coffee.

Yelp
This was my absolute go-to spot this summer in MV! Their breakfast was delicious. Specifically their biscuits. So delicious! The eggs always seemed to be perfect and I also enjoyed the side of greens. I tried a few of their teas and they were good. I wasn't a huge fan of the raspberry matcha tea (I believe that's what it was called). I also did not like the açaí bowl. It had way too much much granola for my liking. Nonetheless, Aalia's coffee is a sweet, little spot tucked away behind Circuit. The staff is helpful and the service is pretty quick. I can't say enough about their breakfast! I'm already looking forward to returning next summer

Yelp
Stopped by Aalia's during my recent visit to Martha's Vineyard so my sister could grab a bite for breakfast and I could enjoy a hot beverage. This place was packed! After ordering at the counter we were able to snag two stools inside, but be prepared to take your eats and treats elsewhere. (Outdoor seating is also limited.) My London Fog was good and service was decent, no complaints there. The groovy music was great, and the decor was also hip/urban. Honestly, this place is probably one of the better stops in Oak Bluffs, which I would otherwise avoid after a quick look around. A lot of menu items sounded tasty--I appreciate that they offer plant-based options. My sister got the acai bowl and it wasn't her favorite, but other options did look good. If I'm ever lucky enough to visit Martha's Vineyard again, I'd happily swing by a second time to try some food. (Prices are as expected.)

Yelp
Excellent! I had a peach scone which was delish! Oatmilk latte and I noticed they use the best organic syrup possible! Holy kakow, out of Portland, Oregon.

Hana M.

Yelp
Love the interesting variety of breakfast sandwiches. I got the one with labneh and zatar and it was delicious. The hash browns are the star, don't leave without them. The cardamom mocha was unique! A little overpriced, but average for the area.

Davy A.

Yelp
Nice looking spot and food was good but service needs work. When placing my order I was clear with what I had wanted. The woman working the counter was nice but her English was not very strong. She ended up getting my order incorrect. When the dish came to our table we let them know they had made a mistake. Instead of just making the order right I believe the manager or owner of the business came to our table and told me that I needed to double check the receipt to make sure my order was correct and the dish I wanted was $4/more. He said he would comp this time but to not make the same mistake again. I run a business and understand things can be lost in translation, however I would never make a customer feel badly when the mistake was on one of their employees. The mistake was not the problem but the way he handled the situation was.

Yelp
I was less than impressed at this place. Firstly the girl at the register was beyond bothered to take my order, it didn't appear busy, we stopped in mid morning. Then my croissant which I thought would be fresh was harder than rocks(I didn't pay for a day old one). The coffee was fine, I tried the sweet potato latte, it was good but I probably wouldn't get again. The patio tables were filthy with crumbs and stickiness from previous customers. Overall I'd skip and try elsewhere.
google avatar

Jill P.

Yelp
Loved their sweet potato latte, it definitely surprised me! Their potatoes were delish and labnah hit the spot with them. Grilled cheese was good but I could have used less zaatar. Service was quick and super friendly! Nice chill hang out spot!

Yelp
Just went to aalia's for the first time this morning just for coffee. Ended up loving the vibe, service and coffee so much that I brought back my whole family (and dog!) for breakfast! We all LOVED this place, it's on a more quaint road than circuit ave which is so nice for breakfast! They had a water bowl out for dogs, delivered food to you and made sure we had everything we needed! Can't wait to go back for dinner! Great job Aalias, we love you!!

Yelp
Found this place off a highly rated Google review, their ig was cute/lots of nice pics but the place itself was very eh... The coffee was ok-ish, definitely not strong enough, and they were out of almond milk (and I mentioned this) which at the station that customers had to fill in themselves. Also, oat milk wasn't at the counter with all of the other types of milk / cream, so this should've been resolved beforehand. The Lebanese breakfast was pretty good / fast, no doubt but it was so expensive and not worth the high price in my opinion (again, I get it's a tourist place and it's summer). However the thing that threw me off the most was the service... They were fast, but seemed really unhappy to be there and spoke to me in quite a coarse tone. Don't think I'd come back.

Yelp
This is a good place to go if you're craving a well-made coffee. They've got a variety of alternative milks as well as whole milk, so they really accommodate the variety of people on the island. The interior is very fun and colorful, although I found the music to be overwhelmingly loud to the point where I could barely stand waiting for my coffee. The staff was pleasant and service was quick. I'd definitely come back here if I was ever in the area!

Yelp
The food is ducking amazing! Great service. Must do for breakfast. Vegan hash would likely fool meatatarians.

Yelp
4.2. I wish I found out about this place sooner. Their croissant breakfast sandwich is soooo good and hashbrowns are crispy. I like their açaí bowl too. Got matcha and ube lattes and they lacked in flavor so I wouldn't get it again, but I like that this place is good with being accommodating with their food and drinks. It's a cute spot to eat at but can get busy sometimes so I recommend ordering online.

Yelp
High quality coffee, enjoyed every sip of it and good almond milk as well (makes a difference for those who like almond milk). Try the cardamom flavor, I loved it (although my wife wasn't the biggest fan, so can go both ways ha). Food was also excellent, very fresh. My Gruyère egg sandwich (croissant) was yum, maybe a bit too buttery (is that a thing though), but delicious nonetheless. My wife had the scrambled (egg white only was an option) and came with super good baguette and tomatoes/cucumber salad. We will back tomorrow! We came back the next day as promised, and loved it once again. Ordered the baguette, and don't know if it is home made or purchased at a bakery, but it's so fresh. Felt like I was in Paris.

Yelp
Meh. Coffee was bitter. Staff was bitter. Music was just bad. Would not recommend. Cookie was good but staff rolled her eyes when I asked what kind it was (almond). Don't go here.
google avatar

Yelp
i'm so glad i tried this place. i haven't found matcha latte anywhere on the island and the one here was delicious! the outdoor seating area is super cute and the inside is modern and welcoming. the breakfast sandwich was freaking great and it came out very fast. I love the vibes here mostly, and will definitely be coming back with friends.

Yelp
A tasteful addition to the island coffeehouse scene that I recently tried for the first time after hearing about it this past summer. Certainly filling an off-season need in Oak Bluffs. The menu and decor gave an impression of something you would find in a "hip" mainland city neighborhood. Point being I appreciated some thought had been taken into it. Also a thoughtful refresh of the space itself, following previous stints as a small restaurant and a distillery/bar type place. My latte tasted fair trade and fresh, right on the firm middle ground and neither too dark nor light. The food was well-made but did not give a lot of value for the price paid. I ordered the french toast thinking it might result in multiple pieces, but there was only one large single piece. Nonetheless, the toppings offered were fresh and plentiful, and again, there was thought and care evident in the presentation of the entree itself. I will make a point to continue to try additional offerings from their menu going forward and am glad to now have the place firmly on my radar.

Yelp
My husband and I were in search of good coffee on the island and stumbled upon this cute coffee shop. Coffee was one of the best we've had in New England. No sugar free flavors for the latte, but they are able to make it it extra tasty with just a bit of syrup. The little fried (potato?) cakes were delicious and egg white option for breakfast was a plus.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good spot, some of the better coffee on Martha's Vineyard. Food is also very good. Great option in Oak Bluffs.

Janet B.

Yelp
Everything about this place is superb!!!! This is especially wonderful for people who like to sample lots of different things when they go out to eat. At dinner there are small plates so the 2 of us got 6 plates--we both got to sample 6 yummy things--and left stuffed and with leftovers.

Susanna H.

Yelp
Such an amazing place any time of the day - AM and PM. Sit on the porch and people watch! The food and service are amazing. I had a chicken sandwich that was to die for. Highly, highly recommend!!

Rhonda S.

Yelp
Good quick breakfast in MV. The bagels and açaí bowl were both quite good The chai tea with almond milk was a bit sweet but yummy
google avatar

Danna G.

Yelp
Stumbled across this place. So cute. Very nice. Such a nice selection of everything. Food is delish. Had the French toast and the breakfast sandwich. Breakfast sandwich was soo soo delish. Mochas we're so tasty. Plan to go back and try some of the Lebanese flair

Yelp
Stopped by Aalias ever day on our visit to the island. We knew the coffee would be good instantly but when we tried the food, it was honestly some of the best we've had here. The breakfast sandwich with hashbrowns im still thinking about. The staff were all so sweet and welcoming and handled the morning rush really well.

Jill H.

Yelp
Had high hopes for this place and was dying for a good coffee first thing in the morning. Went here and ordered two coffees. The woman behind the counter looked and me with a blank face for a good 30 seconds before I clarified to make sure I wasn't missing something in the ordering process. She confirmed that I wasn't and I added a breakfast sandwich with sausage. When I tasted the coffee it was very bitter and very weak. I don't need anything super strong but this was something out of a Cumberland Farms at 3 AM. Then the sandwich came out after about 15 minutes and it was a croissant, hard boiled eggs and a sausage patty. Hard boiled eggs and croissant were fine and the sauce was meh but the sausage patty was pretty bad. It looked like a leftover from the day before and certainly wasn't handmade. Needless to say the dog enjoyed the sausage Patty and the coffees were dumped. Unfortunately we will not return here.
google avatar

Ashley K.

Yelp
Dropped in for some takeaway for the ferry ride. Got the egg sandwich with bacon. The egg was ultra fluffy and delicious. The croissant melted away. Cool vibes inside as well. Would recommend.
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
Small place next to our inn. Once inside, refreshing white decor with wide planked floors. Really inviting with a great outdoor covered porch. Plenty of seating. Had eggs and hash browns. Though simple was so well done. Think there's a Mediterranean flair here. Also got the cardamom latte with oat milk. Sooo delicious. Great place, recommend!

Mmac7314 ..

Yelp
What an amazing breakfast! The Lebanese breakfast had wonderful flavors and there are also more traditional breakfast options. The customer next to us said the breakfast sandwich was the best he ever had. The owner was welcoming and chill. Looks like they have some dinner options. Would be interesting to give dinner a try in our next visit!

Mary C.

Yelp
So delicious! The first time we ordered here they forgot to add the bacon on our order. Other than that the food is always 10 out of 10 delicious highly recommend it!
google avatar

Nick T.

Yelp
Great food, great fun, and lots of laughs had at Aalia's Coffee. The wife and I went for the Ube latte but stayed for the hash browns! Boy howdy did we love this cute little cafe and the owners seemed like they have really cool dogs

Brooke R.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this coffee shop. Great selection and terrific employees. Just added a dinner option that is definitely worth checking out.

E N.

Yelp
This coffee shop in Oak Bluffs is newer and awesome! The coffee is terrific and the breakfast choices are a nice complement, especially the cinnamon toast. They have also added a dinner menu that includes some fabulous Lebanese recipes. Definitely worth checking out! The people working there could not be more helpful or more efficient. What a great addition to Martha's Vineyard.

P B.

Yelp
Very surprised by some of the other reviews. We found this to be the best breakfast on the Vineyard. We had the Lebanese breakfast and the Brown Sugar Cinnamon Toast made from Challah bread. Both were fantastic. Eggs cooked perfectly, with warm pita, labneh, mixture of cukes & tomatoes with great spices and hash browns. And the french toast . . .oh, it was so so tasty. Came with authentic maple syrup and a really wonderful raspberry compote. My latte was excellent, my daughter didn't love hers with lavender, but the service was very good and the servers were thoughtful and made sure we were taken care of. We certainly will return.

Sarah P.

Yelp
Their breakfast sandwich is incredible! The eggs are so fluffy and tasty. I added bacon which was a great move. I also got a chai. Everything was so good I came back in the afternoon and got a cookie and a chai.
