ABC Kitchens Dumbo - Review - DUMBO - New York - The Infatuation

"Who told Jean-Georges Vongerichten about Brooklyn? His latest restaurant is his first in the borough, on the waterfront in Dumbo. Expect beautiful views and a long menu with lots of cover versions of favorites fromABC Kitchen, abcV, andABC Cocina, like the crab toast, mushroom pizza, and caramel popcorn sundae." - Molly Fitzpatrick

NYC New Restaurant Openings, October 2025 | Eater NY

"Jean‑Georges’s first Brooklyn venture is a sprawling hybrid of ABC Kitchen, ABC Cocina, and ABCV, bringing his market-driven style across the river in a new waterfront space." - Tierney Plumb

Jean-Georges Vongerichten Opens New ABC KItchens Restaurant in Brooklyn | Eater NY

"Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s first Brooklyn restaurant is a massive hybrid of his three ABC restaurants, perched in Dumbo between the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges with a wraparound terrace and spectacular downtown views (including a glimpse of the Fulton). He calls it “ABCD,” and its structure nods to his Flatiron ABC with wooden beams and remnant stones from the Brooklyn Bridge construction. The menu, created by Vongerichten and executed by executive chef Ayaka Guido, pulls hits from across the trio—dosas from V, crab toast from Kitchen, and empanadas from Cocina—while pushing a seasonal, vegetable-forward bent with original dishes like fried quail; a new tomato toast with tuna tartare; and Greenmarket-driven sides such as baked sweet potatoes with chile butter, with produce-forward cocktails to match. Desserts, overseen by pastry chef Eliana Aponte, are playful, with staffers spooning ice cream tableside from carts onto cones in vivid hues. Designed by longtime JG president-CEO Lois Freedman, the room blends flea-market and antique finds with new touches: re-feathered 1800s chairs, a 19th-century Provence bakery breakfront repurposed as a server station, live-edge wooden tables, blush velvet Hollywood banquettes, and a rose quartz bar with lava-stone tile, all lit to a flattering glow by vintage chandeliers, hand-blown mini globes, and modern colored bulbs. Despite the polish, the vibe stays casual thanks to a market table piled with vegetables and flowers, a pizza oven turning out pies, and jeans-and-Converse-clad waitstaff. It’s also the chef’s only New York City restaurant outside of Manhattan." - Beth Landman

Google
Very pleasant restaurant with a lot of space and natural light. Super nice and patient staff, with our big group of 8 people. As a vegetarian, I really appreciate seeing vegetables at the center of the plate. The plates are meant to be shared so we picked about 2 per person. Desserts are a great final touch to this meal. I forgot if the bread is included or not, but you need to try it! It is served with this amazing Italian olive oil. We did not try any wine or cocktail during our lunch, but we had great coffee after dessert. I recommend checking out the back of the restaurant before heading out, as the kitchen is open on the dining room! If you’re visiting on a warm day, definitely sit outside to enjoy the amazing view on the East river and Manhattan. 10/10 would come back

Such a great experience!! We celebrated our anniversary here and could not be happier about it! From the host, to our server and the food it was a great experience. The decor is beautiful as well. They did a great job catering to all sorts of customers to include families and couples and people there to brunch. The food was stellar. I highly recommend checking them out!

Google
Had a delicious anniversary dinner at ABC Kitchen Dumbo, in search of a comfortable atmosphere and good food, something different and we were treated to exactly that. abc kitchen's dumbo location overlooks the Brooklyn bridge, the water, and the beautiful carousel. At night, the lighting is warm and inviting, beckoning you inside. Upon entrance, you will find a space that feels like the nicest apartment you've ever been to exploded outwards into an open concept dining space, Tables are big and patchwork chandeliers hang over the largest ones. Colored stained glass divides the space into airy little rooms but never completely closed off. It's a lovely modern rustic asthetic that instantly sets you at ease before you even take a bite. If the space is this considered, how can the menu be an afterthought? The food here is delicious. It's largely comprised of garden select fresh food and simplicity. It's meant to be eaten as a group, open and communal. The only problem is you're gonna want a lot. After finishing the Lettuce Avocado cups, you will want at least two more. They are smoky and flavorful with a nice crisp crunch. The steak was beautifully cooked so rich and perfectly done. The food is only as good as the service, and ours was the best we've ever had. We were helped by Cienna who was friendly and kind and made sure our water cups never went dry. I felt at home the second I set down and would recommend this location to anyone. It was a delicious, wonderful evening and I look forward to returning.

Most likely the best restaurant experience I've had, ever. From the moment we walked in until we left, everything was perfect. The music wasn't too loud. The espresso Martini (with vodka) was really good. And the pizzas were delicious, especially the black truffle one. Absolutely incredible. Special thanks to both Amy and Mayuki (not sure about the spelling, sorry) who were really nice and professional. Gave great recommandations and always knew when to come. Lovely ladies. Thank you for making my dad's birthday such a great moment for us!

Google
A total five-star experience from beginning to end! A transportive, stunning jewel-box of a restaurant, with such attention to detail, from the entrees, to the velvet booths, to the way you’re treated the whole time. Went here for my husband’s birthday, three years after getting married at Jean-Georges’ restaurant The Inn at Pound Ridge, and this new spot is unreal! Right on the water with tons of outdoor seating. Especially loved the crispy-skin chicken and rice (arroz con pollo ) with their homemade orange jalapeño elixir on the side and their insane pistachio-crusted roasted broccoli. Also enjoyed the gooey mushroom pizza with a runny egg in the center, sprinkled with a little salt, and their fluffy carrot cake. Coming back to try their truffle pizza, pastas, and chocolate churros. Shoutout to Jean-Georges who even said hi! And our waiter Davin who is the gold-standard of hospitality. 5 stars!!!

Google
An overstuffed and bafflingly complex menu. We overheard the same conversation with every table that was seated around us - everyone trying to figure out where to start and how to approach the sheer madness of options. All that choice and complexity led to some hits and misses. We went in with high expectations, and things in general felt more good then great. The artichoke and cabbage were both quite excellent. The Wallnut ragu was...odd - trying too hard - and the quail was just fine. We ended on a high, as the warm chocolate cake was everything we were hoping. But overall we were left underwhelmed. While I trust that that buried somewhere in that cacophony of a menu is a great dinner, I am not excited enough to comeback to find it. Service was excellent. The place got a bit loud.

Google
This was a TRANSFORMATIVE experience. The food was spectacular, mindfully and uniquely made. the atmosphere was warm and vibrant, and the service was spectacular. Esther and Sandy made sure we were taken care of the entire night. I can’t wait to be back, below are some favorites (we ate the others too fast).

Google
Beautiful addition to the neighborhood, the cuisine is fresh, seasonal and the service is very good. We loved the leeks and cauliflower from the Market section of the menu and also the mushroom paccheri. The restaurant is divided in three sections which keeps the volume down and the atmosphere cozy. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
ABC Kitchen has brought some sparkle to Dumbo. The indoor dining room is massive with a gorgeous, airy ambiance that feels both modern and warm. Inside, there are beautiful fresh flowers and a market table setup that gives the space a true farm-to-table vibe. It is easily one of the best new additions to the neighborhood. Just note: the entrance is on the side by the theater, not directly inside the Dumbo Market, so do not be surprised if you circle once. We started with cocktails, and the cherry whiskey sour was a standout. It was balanced, bright, and really well made. The white wine was fine, though definitely on the pricier side for what it was. Food-wise, the hits landed hard. The lobster, fluke ceviche, market table carrots, and arroz con pollo were the clear highlights. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. We also had the shrimp, which was solid and nicely cooked. Service was great, with friendly servers who made the experience even better. The patio is absolutely adorable, with pops of pink in the outdoor furniture that make it feel fun and inviting. Once the weather warms up, it will be the perfect spot for a long lunch or a sunset drink. Overall, ABC Kitchen Dumbo is a stylish, welcome addition with strong dishes and a great vibe. Worth the visit, especially for the seafood and market-driven plates.

Yelp
We had an absolutely fantastic group birthday dinner last night for a friend. The staff was extremely organized and polite, we had a set menu with a ton of appetizers and mains as well as desert and champagne - *everything* was delicious. The vibe is really cool and trendy, with a nice big bar in the middle that had full bar seating. The ambiance was energetically noisy but still very easy to converse. I'm not sure how common or how long it'll last (it only opened recently), but we had the bonus that Jean-Georges was there! He was having conversations with people that seemed like friends at the bar and talking to workers, and at the end of our dinner he even came and said hello, asked how we liked things, and took a picture with us. It was a really great experience. Highly recommend! My favorite spot in Dumbo now.

Yelp
This beautifully aesthetic space is recently opened and while I love a Jean-George restaurant...this wasn't one of my favorites. This review is with the understanding that its new and has to work out the kinks, but not in the areas of service. Our server was absolutely wonderful. The food was good but....Tuna tartar, don't do it. Its basically an extremely spicy bruschetta, you won't be able to decipher any taste of tuna...at all, what a disappointment, as it's always one of my go to's, and with understanding the different variations a restaurant can put on a tuna tartar, this was way off. The rigatoni bolognese was delicious, but was never offered cheese. Arctic Char was also crispy skinned and cooked perfectly. Our martinis were at least a 1/4 shy from the top of a beautiful coupe glass, and although tasty. As a foodie and a manager of fine dining on Long Island, not to the top, but at least look as if it hadn't already had a few sips taken. Salt in an open dish on the table...not for me. Maldon or finishing salt should be brought upon request and covered. Huge turn off....leaning on a Mexican vibe...pepper should be on the table as well if the salt is. The play list was so off-putting...a mish-mosh of odd and quirky music...we didn't get it, it didn't fit the ambiance... and lastly because I believe the staff has to be considered...and although they look great with the baggie jean and Tee shirt, to work a shift or do a double in converse sneakers is sooooo uncomfortable, no support. Other than the small things that I noticed......I would go again....

Yelp
ABC Kitchen Dumbo has finally brought good food to a touristy area. Everything we ate was delicious and the service is so kind and accommodating. They wanted us to have a good time. This is one of those rare places that do not need any marketing because the food speaks for itself. We can't wait to be back!!

Yelp
the food was delectable. the flavor in every dish was wonderful..the service was good, but the part that missed the mark was that our vegetables came out just as we were finishing our encores and there was no apology for delay, they just dropped the dish off. otherwise, would recommend. 3.5/4 overall.

Yelp
Our family dinner experience was lovely, and lwith backdrop of the River and the brooklyn Bridge at the entrance makes for great photos Our server Quentin was extremely helpful with recommendations, explaining the various dishes and side sauces, The food EXCELLENT, we had the guacamole crabtoast articoke apps Kale Pizza, Black Sea Bass, arroz con pollo a must have is the broccoli soup. Jameel , one of the various managers was also extremely friendly and gracious. extremely refreshing to see genuine smiling faces. The ambience is beautiful, soft palette of rose and coral from the table service, flowers and depression glassware. It has an eclectic mix of modern with warm tones from the flower settings and glassware Note to thyself : the entrance is on the side by the theater, not directly inside the Dumbo Market, (55 Water Street) so do not be surprised if you circle once or twice. can wait to go back in warmer weather as well. It's a perfect spot, excellent food, service and ambiance. Congrats to all and thank you for a lovely memorable experience!

Yelp
We love ABC Kitchens--the atmosphere is great, the service is exceptional, and the food is delicious. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is comfortable. The tableware, from the plates and glasses to the beautifully placed flowers, is perfectly arranged, adding an elegant finishing touch to every visit. The music is consistently well-chosen, creating the ideal ambiance for a memorable dining experience.
