Mysterious Dupont Lounge Eyes February Opening - Eater DC

"Abigail is a new lounge by nightlife impresario David Chung, located in the subterranean space previously occupied by Buckeye + Bear. Booked a VIP Table a couple weeks ago at Abigail for my birthday, and it was such a good time! Everyone was super friendly, the bottle service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was very inviting. Very spacious layout so it didn't feel like we were packed in our section. We will definitely be back!

I had the best time at this DC nightclub last weekend! The music was great, the energy was insane, and the crowd was so much fun. We booked a VIP table for my friend’s birthday and everything was taken care of—bottle service was super smooth, and our server made sure we were good the entire night. 10/10 night in DC nightlife.

Abigail never misses! From the moment I walked in, the energy was everything! The DJs kept the dance floor alive all night with a perfect mix of house, hip-hop, and Bangers! Drinks were 10/10 , bartenders were fast and friendly. The whole place has this intimate, upscale vibe without being too much! Whether you're there to dance or just vibe with friends, Abigail hits the sweet spot. Definitely my favorite in dc!

Google
Abigail is hands down one of the best Washington DC nightclubs I’ve been to! The vibe was upscale but still so fun, the DJ kept the energy up all night, and the crowd was a good mix. My friends and I reserved a VIP table and the bottle service was top-tier—super attentive and quick. If you’re looking for a real DC nightlife experience with a touch of class, Abigail is it. Definitely recommend it for both a weekend out or even a private event venue in DC!

This place knows how to do it! It’s hands down one of the best nightclubs in Washington DC. My friends and I came in and we ended up dancing for hours. We didn’t have a table but honestly, the vibe on the floor was just as good. Definitely coming back soon.

I came here with my friends while visiting from out of town and had a great time! The atmosphere was nice with people dancing and mingling! 10/10 will be coming back!

When I go out I think about what makes a great night is the music and the crowd. If the music and the crowd is great then I have a great night. Both last weekend hit the spot. This is one of the best DC nightclub experiences I've had in awhile. Looking forward to coming back

BEST NIGHT CLUB IN THE CITY 🔥🔥🔥 I’ve been to a lot of clubs in DC and I have to say, Abigail doesn’t miss! I love bringing my out of town friends to this spot to get a feel for DC nightlife. The service is great, I love the music, and the crowd is always so lit! 10/10

Yelp
Came here on a weekday with a group of people from a nearby conference as an after dinner activity. It was pretty empty outside of the folks we came with. I imagine weekends are more fun here when there are a few more people inside. The drinks were not impressive, I would have expected them to be perfection given the low number of occupants. They were also priced as if they would be good, which wasn't the case so that was a huge let down. I don't know what the parking situation is - we took an Uber.

Yelp
Review of Abigail Nightclub, Washington D.C., Date: February 10th, 2024 10:50 pm - 11:20 pm During a recent visit to Abigail Nightclub in Washington D.C., my group and I encountered an issue that significantly detracted from our experience. We approached the bar area managed by a bartender named Darlette, as informed by the manager, A.G. Despite our polite attempts to gain her attention, including raising our hands and calling out to her, Darlette seemingly dismissed us multiple times. Surrounding patrons received prompt service; however, our efforts were met with indifference. At a louder attempt for communication--considering the club's noisy environment--Darlette responded unfavorably, accusing us of disrespect. This interaction led to a refusal of service, with Darlette stepping away and remaining idle, further escalating our discomfort. Feeling marginalized, we patiently waited and eventually received service from another bartender, to whom we expressed our gratitude through generous tipping. I later voiced our concerns to the manager, A.G., who engaged with Darlette. The resolution offered seemed unsatisfactory as Darlette continued to express disdain openly, undermining the professionalism expected in such establishments. This experience has left us feeling unfairly treated, potentially due to racial biases, casting a shadow over our visit. The lack of effective resolution and the apparent disregard for respectful customer service have led us to decide against returning to Abigail Nightclub. We hope this feedback prompts a reevaluation of customer service training and sensitivity, ensuring a welcoming environment for all patrons.

Yelp
Just don't bother going here! They will rob you! I wish I could give zero stars but I hope to save people time and money with this review!

Yelp
Walked up 1014 pm Saturday, no line... eventbrite tickets were free before 10pm. Me and my friend got there a little after but it's cool. l can't honor our ticket but $20 for women, $30 for men. Mind you nobody in there. Ridiculous smh

Yelp
3 minutes agoNEW Everything was good until the DJ. Honestly, pregame before you get here for brunch. They don't pay attention to the customers or what they want to here. Managers and staff take your request and throw them away. The music is so bad it throws you off and makes you want to go to the bar and drink your sorrows away. So! Pre game before you get here so you can ignore how bad the music is.

Yelp
This was my second time at Abigail. During Capitale Sunday a belligerant guy continued to forcefully grab my arm and shoulder even when I walked away and bump into women in my friend group. At the bar he would push women out of the way and one of the bartenders yelled at him to get away. When I was walking toward the entrance, he slapped my butt. I immediately told security in front of me and said it was unacceptable and he needs to leave. One of the managers (or owners) who saw it all told me, "I've known him for years, he's a good guy. Just really drunk right now." The security did nothing but escorted several other people out. I felt unprotected and voiceless as I saw him stumble back into the club. The space is basically one big room with tables and seats in the VIP area. The bathroom is kinda cool and you can change the lights on the mirror for makeup or selfies. The bartenders are beautiful, nice and quick. The music is also good but despite it being packed, most people weren't really dancing but more vibing. Other guys were super forceful and bold with me and my friends too, more than at any other DC club I've been to. One big guy wouldn't let go of my friend until she texted him. Be sure to register on Eventbrite for your free ticket to avoid the cover charge. Abigail kind of has an anything goes atmosphere. People smoke weed, vape, etc etc and there's not really dress code (on Sundays at least).

Yelp
I was on the bar crawl tour. And they did not let me go in with my bag. I don't know who they think their customers are but they are not people who are bad. If that is the case, they should just not open to anyone. They suck!

Yelp
Abigail Fridays and Sundays is best for hip hop! Saturdays they have an EDM crowd! Best in the city

Yelp
Popped into this location recently on a Friday night and this is probably one of the more lowkey club spots in DC. It's located on a side street in the DuPont circle area. Entry was free with a ticket for guys at 11pm (which is when they officially open although the eventbrite tickets indicate 10pm) and the overall venue is a decent size although it feels a bit smaller due to the fact the the dance floor, VIP tables, and DJ booth are all located on one side of the room with the bar being only a few feet away so essentially once it gets packed (like most spots) there's not much room for personal space. Drinks were pricey around $13 bucks or so for your basic cocktails but that's generally standard for the area. The bartenders were solid and service was good not too much waiting in line for a drink as they were sufficiently staffed with enough bartenders to accommodate the large crowd. It's a mixed crowd but the general playlist (at least on this night) was hip-hop and r&b based and while the DJ's playlist started out a little outdated in the beginning the music progressed throughout the night. All in all it's a cool little spot to visit and be amongst a more diverse crowd than some of the other more common local spots.

Yelp
I went here for La Boum brunch. It's a day party club where they lock up your phone and when everyone is comfortable they get the girls and gay guys naked. Then the staff whips out their phones and takes pictures even though everyone else has their phone locked. A bunch of old guys oogling over little girls. The food was not worth $50.

Yelp
I came here last week for a Meetup event and think the atmosphere is ok. I can't believe they charge over $17 for a Jack and Diet Coke. That's just ridiculous. The bartenders were nice and attentive but the prices are outrageous and I don't know how busy the place gets at night.

Yelp
This abhorrent establishment extorted my husband and his friend when the couldn't find their coat check number. After hours of waiting to get his coat - which he volunteered to identify in detail (his cell phone was in the pocket as well) only a cash bribe would do to get the coat back. BS trashy bar BEWARE.

Yelp
First and last time at this bar. Asked for a drink they don't have so the bartender gave me a random drink without asking for my permission and charged me twice the original price. Bad bad bad.

Yelp
Bouncers will put their hands on you and push you because they are unorganized so just be prepared for that!

Yelp
I came here once with a friend on a Saturday night which is their Latin night. Ladies get in for free before 11pm if you RSVP on Eventbrite. Otherwise, you'll pay anywhere from a $10-$30 cover. I think guys have to pay regardless. The inside is really nicely set up, a little smaller than most clubs I've been to. The music was on point the whole night but the DJ did a lot of talking/rapping over the music. Also, be prepared to pay a lot for drinks. A corona is $11 here!
google avatar

Yelp
If you don't let a group people with multiple tables in before 12:30 then all I have to say to you is... good luck Charlie.

Kenji A.

Yelp
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY They overcharge for drinks, $23 for 2 RAIL rum and cokes and $14 for EACH shot of Fireball $11 for a domestic beer. They do not give you a receipt once they swipe your card so it's impossible to tell what they're charging for. To top it off they will water down your drinks literally saw the bartender add water with the soda gun. Even the bartender thought the prices were ridiculous. I couldn't pay cash because they were having issues with their system. Honestly think this place will be out of business in months if they keep it up. STAY AWAY

Yelp
The jollof wars was amazing even though Nigeria cheated. They should have come in 3rd place. First place should have been Senegal and second should have been Ghana. Somebody is

Yelp
I paid $17 dollars for a Jack & Coke and $37 for two other whiskey drinks (Maker's Mark & ginger ale). This spot will never see my credit card swiped here again or my hard earned money spent here.

Yelp
Awful... just awful. Cover entrance 10 USD, cheap vodka and cranberry juice 17 USD. Service quality Poot, far the worst clubbing experience of my life

Austin D.

Yelp
Absolutely awesome venue. The owner and staff were courteous and efficient. Drinks are slightly above average price but that's what you get when you are ballin' out at club like this. Sound system and light system are incredible. Would definitely recommend Bottle Service at this venue! Excited to be back in a couple months!

Yelp
I'm not from here but the atmosphere was pretty nice , service could have been a little better but they played great music and my girlfriends and I enjoyed ourselves

Lauren R.

Yelp
Went here for a private party and while the event was fabulous, the bartender staff was the absolute worse. It felt like you were bothering them just to get a drink. Not friendly. Didn't smile. Barely acknowledged you. This place doesn't have to worry about getting my money in the future.

Duncan O.

Yelp
They charge a 20% service charge on all drinks and try to hide it on the receipt. They tipped themselves $7 for opening 3 beers and then asked for an additional tip. I won't be going here again

Yelp
I found this venue on Eventup.com and reserved it in April, 2018 for a private event in June, 2018 to celebrate my 50th birthday party. I signed a contract with the venue to use the club from 5 pm to 1 am. The private event coordinator was great to work with. He was very responsive to my questions and was very flexible with his time to meet me or coordinate with his staff for me to make site visits. However, the owners of the club are not honorable and contacted me 24 hours before my event to let me know that my party had to end at 11 pm instead of 1 am because the owners had booked a private event starting at midnight. The owners also tried to force me to move my party to another club that they owned, Chinese Disco, which is not comparable to Abigail. I refused this option and my attorney contacted them to attempt to reach an agreement so that I could, at the very least, have my party at Abigail as planned and use the venue until at least midnight. The owners were not interested in honoring their contract and offered to refund my rental fee and cancel my event. This was not a feasible option for me as it was 24 hours before my event and coordination with my party guests, catering company, and other vendors were finalized. They also offered to move my party to one half of the club and have me "share" the club with another private party. I refused this option too. The owners and I settled on ending my party at midnight with the club owners giving me credit for one hour rental of the venue and agreeing to not let party guests from the party scheduled at midnight in the venue before midnight. However, this was not honored either. The club manager, Chris Yacht, allowed guests from the midnight event to enter the venue early at 11:30 and disrupt the last 30 minutes of my party. It was a horrible ending to a special occasion. If you are planning a special event, DO NOT USE this venue. The owners will not honor your contract and you could be left without a venue for your event, or rental terms changed at the very last minute.

Kyle S.

Yelp
This place sucks. Wanted a beer but I wasn't part a part of some event? But I low key was... Wouldn't go back ever. I had an awful experience.

Jack M.

Yelp
The worst club I have been to in DC. They do not cap the amount of people they let into the club. As such, you literally cannot move around, and the bouncers & bottle girls keep pushing you off to the side as they go to and from the tables.. The DJ sucks as well, he switches the music way too much and interrupts every song, which makes the experience even worse.

Randi B.

Yelp
I spent my birthday at a brunch series (la boum) hosted in the space. I spent over $1000, and wanted to get a few pictures of myself and my guests after brunch was over because cell phones were not allowed during brunch. The security was ridiculously aggressive as they did not to wait for my guests and I to take a group picture. This persisted even after the building supervisor gave me the ok to take a group photo. The security guards got physical with more than one of my guests... All because I wanted to take a group photo on my birthday after spending over $1000. Would not recommend the establishment at all. Additionally, the individuals hosting the brunch did nothing to come to our aid.

La S.

Yelp
This place is on the smaller side so it gets crowded quick and you have to make space if you want to dance. The drinks here are absolutely trash and overly expensive. They don't carry procescco so we were stuck drinking some house champagne that taste terrible. We switched to a few different types of drinks and they all were just as bad. The dj took about 2 hours to actually get good. My advice? Go somewhere else.

John J.

Yelp
This is the worst place anyone can possibly go to . The service sucks. The promoters lie about whose going to be there djdjdjdjdjdjdjdjdjejekekkekekekkekekekekekekekekkekekekekekekekkek

Sammy L.

Yelp
Drinks were super expensive. Music was terrible. Actually the worst dj ever will Not be going back

Kiki H.

Yelp
Went to La Boum brunch (after having gone to the previous two locations that hosted it). FYI you have to lock up your phones in cases before you go in. We were then served at our table- biscuits, two salads, macaroni and cheese, pulled beef sliders, and fried chicken tenders on sticks. The bussers were good about bringing refills of the water carafes and clearing plates. After a while they also brought plates of brownies/sweets. The cheapest bottle of champagne is $50, beers were around $8-9, brunch cocktails around $13, vodka/liquor bottles for $300+ (which come with bottle service-like delivery) and they wouldn't split any checks for our table. The performances and MC were unique, and this can be fun for a special event!

Nisha H.

Yelp
I went here last night for the first time and very spontaneously. I spend 40 bucks on two drinks with Tito's vodka. Absurd. The DJ was awkwardly shouting out "light skin" repeatedly. It was very awkward and extremely colorist. It did not help when I noticed that all except one of the bottle girls and bar tenders were lighter skinned/non-black women. Its ironic when black culture is used to pander and make money, but not respected all the same. Definitely not a welcoming environment and would not recommend. Not the kind of people I want to give my money to. Sadly, even if that did not occur, I would not rate it any higher. The club was so stiff and dead up until the last 2 hours (even with people present). It was bizarre. Never seen a modestly full club or lounge like that before. Probably because people were not buying the overpriced drinks. The awkward "dancer" on top of the speakers did not help at all. I wonder if the owner hired a family relative, because it was downright cringey and embarrassing at some point. She could not dance. I was just waiting for her to hit her head on one of the speakers. Im glad it did not happen, but it would have been the best entertainment I saw all night.

Anthony D.

Yelp
Hey this place isn't for those who are looking for a deal. Expect to spend 100 bucks at least if you want to have a good time. Bartenders are phenomenal brought my debit card back to me on the dance floor. Music was awesome and the bouncers were super nice.

Amanda M.

Yelp
My friends and I went to Abigail while on a bar crawl expecting a fun time and we were severely let down. First, the staff was rude and discriminatory. I was turned away at the door due to the shoes that I was wearing yet other people were allowed in wearing the same type of shoes. There is no dress code online so how is one expected to know what is allowed and what is not. I spoke with the manger as was finally allowed entry. Secondly, the music and ambiance was terrible. We were there about 15 minutes before we had enough. I will never step back in this establishment after being insulted at the door and the horrible vibe of the club.

Emre O.

Yelp
A nightmare. Jersey-shore crowd; the rudest staff imaginable (met the owner, complete douchebag); the worst top 40 hits spun by a half-wit DJ; $20 for watered down rail drinks. The most terrible club experience I've had in 15 years of clubbing.

Britta G.

Yelp
Ridiculous pricing and horrible music. Went on a Saturday night with a large group of friends, 2 drinks of house rum and coke for $22, we asked about the pricing because other clubs in the area have vastly different pricing and bartenders explained it's the price given by management they have no say for pricing. Dj sounded like he left his 20sec clips of songs on shuffle. Couldn't keep the energy or mood consistent. Would go from Latin pop to trap then to top pop to rap. I would have been happy with any consistency but it killed all dancing moods. To top it off when we tried to pay for drinks they wouldn't accept cash. Not sure why ANY establishment would refuse cash. Bartenders explained it was the system management implements and reading other review it looks like management seems to be the absolute worst. Management needs to change immediately I can see that all mistakes are leading back to them. Save yourself the trip and go to ANY OTHER CLUB. I do not recommend this trip.

Jonathan C.

Yelp
I don't know where to begin. Friends and I bought tickets to an event here this past weekend. Get to the front door to gain entrance and the people at the front door don't know if they are *honoring* tickets anymore (this is at 11pm for an event with time billed 7pm to 4am..). Finally, they said its okay, "let them in". We enter the club, get into the bar area and I buy a round of Bud Lights - 3 light beers for $10 a piece - ridiculous. They then cut the music, and we see the artist we paid money to see packing his stuff up. Knowing the music they were playing (paid for house music and I heard a track by Pitbull and Shakira) wasn't something I wanted to listen to for the rest of the night, I followed the artist out of the club. I asked him if he already played and we just missed them. He informed our group that the manager of the club had asked him not to play as he (the manager) wanted to to change the mood of the club. Thankfully, we know another nightclub nearby (Flash, infinitely better than whatever I had experienced at Abigail) and we told the artist to go there. They let him play the main floor and the night was salvaged. However, I couldn't be more disgusted by the disorganization, absurd pricing, and lack of professionalism displayed by the Abigail employees and their management. People paid good money to see an artist perform and they were denied the opportunity to experience what we paid for. Shame on this club - easily the last time any of my friends or I step into this establishment.
