Best Hot Cocktails in Boston | Eater Boston

"Drinkers in search of a warming libation will find three hot options on the menu at Abigail’s: a bourbon hot toddy, hot buttered bourbon, and the Baby, It’s Cold Outside, a decadent Rumplemintz-spiked hot chocolate. The whipped cream on top is particularly rich and sweet due to a secret ingredient: Bailey’s Irish Cream." - Katie Faust Stryjewski

Went here for valentine’s with my girls and it was a 10/10 experience. They had happy hour drinks which the wine was $7. For food we got oysters which was fresh, the duck confetti that blew my mind, the pork schnitzel and NY strip was also fantastic! we also got big apple crisp for dessert, super yummy.

Great vibes. Had brunch here on a Saturday, it wasn't very crowded. I had the avocado fries, Huevos rancheros, and chilaqules. There were a lot of vegetarian friendly options too!

Google
The menu here is really unique, there’s a bit of everything from various different cuisines. My favorite was the NY strip steak — the sauce was very savory and had a hint of citrus flavor. The staff was also very attentive to our needs and was quick to bring us our drinks, food, and water refills. I’ll definitely be back soon to try some more!

My husband and I came uptown after a show and we were very impressed with this restaurant. The decor is very fun and clean. I love that they play 80s music and movies at the bar. I liked the vibe right away. It's an upscale diner with lots of cool signs etc. I'm sure they're packed for brunch and if it was my hood I'd definitely be back for that! We got a few cocktails and they didn't disappoint. Again, all 80s song names! So cool. I especially liked the radio Gaga cucumber vodka drink. Really refreshing and balanced. The salad that came with the scallops was so good. I have to say all the food was well excecuted and on point. The avocado fries were delicious, I didn't want to share! And I got the buffalo cauliflower app as my entree with the Brussel sprout side. Both were good. At first I thought it wouldn't be enough bc it looked a little small but it was a great portion. I saw on another review that someone said the portion was small but it's just the presentation which looks great and I was definitely full. My husband had the steak which he enjoyed. Desert we never get but I'm a sucker for mint chip ice cream so we got baked Alaska and it was good. I honestly wish it was closer to me because it would be my new favorite place. Definitely check it out if you're on the UWS. We will come back to experience the food again.

I had an incredible brunch experience at Abigails in NYC! Sam, the manager, deserves special recognition for his outstanding service and attention to detail. Our server, Benjamin, was also fantastic, ensuring our meal was perfect from start to finish. The atmosphere was inviting, the food delicious, and the staff top-notch. I can't wait to return!

Google
The reason for my low score was the rancid smell at 11am by the bar which is where we wanted to sit. I described it as animal vomit. The bartender was very great and the food was lovely. I got the huevos rancheros and it was delicious. A bunch of stuff on the menu looked great. If it wasn’t for the rancid smell it would be a 5 star. I’m sure we were not the only ones to notice it.

Google
I come here pretty often. Every single thing I’ve tried from the menu is executed perfectly and completely enjoyable. The drinks are great, they have a nice repertoire of spirits, and have always been willing to make me classic drinks that are not on the menu. I even had a birthday get together here which went great. But my favorite thing of all is the staff - shoutout to Ben, William, Emma, Scott, Sam, Cara, and every single person working there who you can absolutely tell are giving it their all to make your experience the best it can be. They all really care about this place and it is palpable. Great addition to the neighborhood. 15/10

I enjoyed the service and atmosphere very much. And the food we ordered was good. The tortilla chips were a little thick for me. Next time I’ll order something different.

Yelp
I treated my sister to dinner because that's what I love doing for her on her birthday. She chose this place because she heard great things about it and I can see why. The restaurant was incredible. We were both craving a good bowl and that's exactly what we got. We both got bowls with steak, beans, rice, sour cream, and guacamole and we both ordered diet cokes. Our server was also really nice, answered all of our questions and was super attentive. The atmosphere of the Abigails was also really chill. I learned that Abigail was the owner's nickname. There was so much flavor in our burrito bowls and they brought us hot sauce to spice things up. For my sister's birthday, they brought her a complimentary dessert, which was super nice and really delicious. I wasn't planning on eating dessert that night but because it was so good I really couldn't help myself. I am beyond happy that the restaurant is close to my neighborhood because I would love to come here more often.

Yelp
The ambiance of this palace was soooooo cute!! We definitely felt the friendliness of the server and we loved the cute little touches on the wall. They even had a cute bus inside the restaurant where they served food. I'm stuck between a three and four star review because the experience was amazing but the food wasn't so good. The loaded fries we got were genuinely way too salty, i felt like i needed to drink 20 sips of water after every bite. and then the chicken had zero salt . we were so shocked lol. the drink i got (maneater) was alright but i feel like i only drank it because of the salty fries . I am giving them the benefit of the doubt here because the experience really was great. I hope we just got a bad serving for whatever reason. Our server was the sweetest and gave us salt and pepper for the chicken which definitely helped. Maybe we will go back again some day, but I am curious to see what everyone else has to say about the food.

Yelp
Perfect little birthday brunch at Abigail's today! It's the cutest and cozy little spot on the UWS with great food. I've always had fantastic service, especially today. I love their Chez Ma Tuna salad but honestly, I think the French Toast might be the best I've ever had!

Yelp
A delicious place for brunch! The food can't be beat yet the drinks need attention. Did the Bloody Mary have any cucumber infused vodka? Couldn't taste it or feel it. The brioche cinnamon roll was a great starter but be ready for a heavy hand of lemon glaze. Also the brioche may be too soft a bread for the weight of the cinnamon mixture. Through a variety of dishes, the eye and belly found satisfaction. Service was friendly and prompt, and despite the increasing crowdedness as the morning progressed, the space next felt full, and we could enjoy our conversation.

Yelp
Everything I've eaten at Abigail's has been extremely good. I highly recommend this place. So yum.

Yelp
DON'T BOTHER. Really wanted to like this place. Waited 40 minutes and our waitress disappeared after telling us they ran out of the thing we ordered to start. No one wanted to deal with us and just avoided stopping by our table. When we finally had to speak up and complain- which no one likes doing- they told us it was standard in this neighborhood to wait 20-30 minutes so the food could be "fresh"? Then they finally delivered this charred mess, missing half the garnishes. They comped the meal - which was a burrito and iced tea- which was nice, but too little too late.

S G.

Yelp
The restaurant has a fun atmosphere. The waiter was quick to suggest new items on the menu when we asked if there were specials. We ordered the striped bass after the waiter recommended it. Not expecting much, the fish was fresh and delicious with a crisp skin outside. The white beans and broccolini was delicious. We started with the crispy cauliflower which was excellent. As a foodie, ours was excellent. Thanks to our waiter Charlie for the help and good service.

Yelp
Tony was an amazing server. Very kind, spontaneous, and a pleasure to be served by. He was funny and even gave my brother a complimentary drink. The ambiance is very nice too.

Francisco M.

Yelp
The food is consistently very good. I particularly loved the pork schnitzel, which is new in the menu. The service is always friendly and professional.

Yelp
Was excited to try Abigail's last night. Pros: -Servers couldn't have been nicer -Atmosphere very warm and welcoming -Food was good. Portions were pretty big, and prices were incredibly reasonable. We got the avocado fries, a salad, the brick chicken, and mex bowl. Everything was fresh and I'd really like to try some of their other items eventually -Didn't drink, but their cocktails looked great Cons: -Maybe they were short-staffed, but we waited a long time for our food -The table next to us sat 15-20 minutes after us, ordered the exact same entrees as us (after we'd put our orders in), and got their food first. The restaurant was maybe half full -My bowl was luke warm. I'm sure there was a miscommunication where my food was ready and my wife's wasn't, because hers was piping hot, but due to the delays, I didn't want to say anything We definitely want to try Abigail's again. Hoping they'll be a bit more organized the next time around.

Yelp
Always the best delivery and in restaurant experience. One time when the restaurant forgot an item -- they Ubered it asap! Delicious cocktails! Excellent service. LOVE the queso and chips. Like insanely delicious. Brick over chicken is chef's kiss. This is the coziest neighborhood spot. Can't recommend it enough.

Yelp
Tony was a great server. If you are a kid, I recommend the chicken tenders. The feeling and decor is amazing.

Yelp
Go-to neighborhood spot. Favorites are Steak Tar Tar and Strip but everything we've had is great Tony was wonderful!

Yelp
We came in right before the shift change so we got to experience excellent service from both Sophie and Tony! Thanks for making the right call on the apps when we were so hungry we couldn't decide for ourselves. Everyone's meal was delicious.

Yelp
I have been a few times- great place however ordered a 'Smash' burger this time and they have to lay off the salt. Unnecessary over salted the burger and their special sauce!

Yelp
Abigail's is something special. First, the space is the perfect blend of classy, casual, and welcoming. Next, the service is extremely friendly. Last but not least, the food is tasty! It was hard to choose just one thing. We started with the cal-mix pork dumplings - yum, yum, yum! It really did taste like a taco in dumpling form! As my entrée, I ordered the soba noodle bowl. It was refreshing and filling. Looking forward to coming back to try more of their menu (as well as their brunch).

Yelp
The same owners as Taco Street, which you can still order takeout from around the corner. Their menu is simple, healthy, and tasty. They have great salad options which you can add grilled chicken, tuna, or salmon to for some additional protein.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place!! Love everything here. The food is so, so delicious. The service is super friendly and on point. The place itself is cute, playful and fun. The prices are great. I never go anywhere twice, but I'm going back to Abigail's.

Yelp
This restaurant is very warm and homey. The food was really good, but the staff were amazing. Really appreciated them recognizing my daughters birthday with a dessert on the house. will definitely return the next time we are in NYC.

Yelp
Came into Abigail's for the first time in a LONG while on a rainy Wed evening.. I was greeted at the door by a rather chipper host immediately and although it was busy for a rainy weekday night, they were still accommodating and got me a booth (needed a comfy seat to set my laptop). Within the first minute multiple servers greeted me, and a man named Lucas was assigned to my table. Due to a foggy memory, I felt unfamiliar with the menu- which was no issue because Lucas made AMAZING drink and food recommendations, try the Sweet Dreams (the bartender did a fantastic job with this one). My food was promptly delivered to me by Andy, who was more than helpful in describing the dishes to me. Everything was cooked to perfection (asides for the TarTar of course, which was still perfect) ; I don't think a faster kitchen exists and if they do there is no way they're half as skilled. My drinks were ran over by different servers every time- I love a good team effort. I was so impressed with Lucas's recommendations, I decided to ask the other servers their preferences (Charlie and Sophie), and tried a few others as well. All were perfect - nothing like a knowledgeable staff. All in all, I loved my experience at Abigail's and will be back as soon as possible. If I could give a 6th star, I would!!

Candy A.

Yelp
Not only do they have great wine specials Sunday and Monday, but the food is spectacular at Abigails. The space is really comforting and sets up a great date night or hangout with the girls! I would definitely recommend their avocado fries, the best. Check out our video on Instagram @JadaExploresAll and their page too!!

Quinn M.

Yelp
I LOVE this place! Jordan was the best server and made our night so much fun :)) Get the brussels sprouts, they are the best in the city!

Colleen M.

Yelp
The food is awful. Supposed to be California style but everything is just fried or glopped up with queso. The fish tacos were great....until they were not anymore. Ate here many times but it got progressively bad. No more!

Danny H.

Yelp
I've been here three times. The first time we sat at the bar and had great drinks made with care by the excellent Irish bartender as well as good food. So we went back with two other people and had a second good meal. The third time, much more recently, it was a bit disappointing. The drinks were, again, good, but we were both in a burger mood and so we got burgers. The food was good but just too salty. When the server checked in I said, "Honestly, the burgers are good but too salty." She said, "Yeah, we get that a lot." That was kind of damning, frankly. If there's a pattern in the feedback a restaurant is getting from diners and the restaurant isn't acting on that feedback it doesn't exactly reflect well on the place.

Yelp
First time will be back just a lazy afternoon and was walking back from the church visit. Can't wait to return and try some of the other items . So many things sounded great. Our waiter Ben was great as well. And , the atmosphere was really fun as well.

Yelp
This place just opened in March of 2024 -- it used to be Street Taco which is still there, just around the side on West 102nd St available for pickup and delivery only. Abigale's the main dine-in option now, although they still have really good tacos. So it must be just a re-brand. They are the only place that I have ever had lightly fried avocado slices, and they are delish! I am so very happy they kept the same kitchen, which is a 70s-era VW Hippie Bus!

Yelp
Nice cocktail great staff at nice neighborhood the decor is clean and slick. Food is delicious

Yelp
Visited on a Monday, late afternoon. Had smash burger with fries (included, and it did not disappoint (delicious!). Jordan was my server AND bartender, and her upbeat energy and detailed service made for a very positive experience. The happy hour drinks (4pm-7pm) are excellent. Enjoyed Just like Heaven rye-based cocktail with house-made "pancakes" cordial (had 2, they were that good). Good music choice, great laid-back afternoon ambiance. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Eh so not impressed and still hungry, so I went across the strett to get a pizza. Oh how I wish they would bring back Streeet Taco.

Yelp
Food and drinks are acceptable. I do not see the California vibe as they try to shine in their food dishes, but have enjoyed a few. The cocktails are ok but there are better places to go in the neighborhood - like Cafe Du Soleil for the price and customer service during happy hour.

Jie Wu ..

Yelp
Food is great and the baked Alaska is a must have!! Good for all occasions. It has a full bar and roomy enough for parties.

Anne K.

Yelp
Great service! Cocktails lovely, excellent avo fries, had the pork chop w spaetzel-tasty but a little salty. On an earlier brunch found overall amazing. Definite neighborhood gem.

Yelp
Have come here a couple times this summer for the muscles happy hour deal (12 muscles and a drink for 12$!). Normally just sit alone at a bar or a high top and am always made to feel very comfortable. Nice atmosphere and staff. Lucas is so funny and helpful and really made my experience this last time around. :)

Yelp
How hard is it to mess up a salad? I went here in the first couple of weeks it reopened after converting from Street Taco. I wanted to support a local place. I ordered three Cobb salads two orders of fried avocado to go. The salads were the worst I have ever eaten and we actually left one over. Street taco is s still operating in the same space as a take out restaurant and it's clear most of the ingredients in the salad were leftovers taken from there. The food (eggs, bacon , tomatoes) was soggy, not fresh and clearly not made with the care and love they like to claim is their hallmark in the windows. There was no blue cheese other than a one inch square cube cut and stuck on top of each salad nor was there any Gorgonzola cheese. The bill was over $90 and all of us were still looking for something else to eat afterwards since it was so bad. The avocados were good. Will not be going back.

Tori A.

Yelp
The host Palmer was amazing!!! So kind and welcoming. We were sat immediately and the service was very quick. Will be going again

Nicole K.

Yelp
Excellent Smash burger at Abigail's. We had attentive service and a lovely bar. Great addition to the hood

K

Yelp
A great addition to the neighborhood. Super friendly staff and enjoyable food for varying diets. If you want vegan they have you covered if you want something healthy on the lighter side they have it (my favorite bowl is a personal favorite) if you want to indulge a little more they have a fantastic smash burger and very solid brick chicken dish. Did I mention a great pork chop? My wife loves the salmon dish. If you're feeling nostalgic they offer a tuna tartar taco app. In terms of brunch you can't go wrong with blueberry pancakes or classic Juevos depending upon your groove. Yes I have eaten at this establishment more than a few times. They are still learning the neighborhood and offering specials. You should give them try. I'll probably see you there.

Charmagne K.

Yelp
Seder was GREAT! Charoset: refreshing and simple and delicious. A great neighborhood spot with all comforts with class. Service: front of house guy was very welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend.

Andrew K.

Yelp
Fantastic neighborhood spot. If I lived close by I'd be here monthly. Eclectic menu, solid cocktail program. Ask them about their "off-menu" churro donuts, one of the best dessert bites I've ever had.

Stephanie R.

Yelp
We had a great dinner for our anniversary tonight. We had the scallops and pork dumplings, the burger, and "my favorite bowl". For dessert we had the apple crisp. The service and the food was terrific. Scott was the manager- he was so friendly and courteous along with the rest of the staff. Hoping this restaurant is here to stay! Great night, great food, great place!

Katherine K.

Yelp
Been here twice so far and really like it! The cocktails are super tasty (sweet dreams especially) and so far we've tried the burger (great), salmon (also great), green sweep salad (pretty solid, dressing probably had a bit too much mustard in it) and fish tacos (incredibly mediocre). The service isn't awesome but we have come at busy times. Can't bring myself to give it 5 stars but it's a good addition to the neighborhood
