Overall an enjoyable Cantonese restaurant for both locals and visitors - with an outstanding environment, a warm, welcoming atmosphere, of course delicious dishes. The dining area offers a beautiful view of the Hong Kong night skyline, which makes the experience even more special. Service by especially memorable Ms T Tse is attentive and genuinely hospitable. Food here is excellent—well-executed classic dishes with fresh ingredients and great flavor, roasted pork, chasiu, and the 煲仔飯in festive menu.

Above and Beyond sets a high bar for what a great restaurant should be. Our experience was superb across the board. The food quality is exceptional – creative, delicious, and made with obvious skill and fresh ingredients. The service was equally impressive: professional, genuinely friendly, and perfectly timed. The ambiance is lovely – stylish, comfortable, and inviting. It's rare to find a place that gets everything so right. Above and Beyond clearly prioritizes excellence in food, service, and environment. A memorable and highly recommended experience!

It isn't only my first time to come here and having Chinese lunch but also surprise to high quality cuisine. I really recommend that crispy chicken and shrimp dumpling. With the amazingly service, it also makes me feel very comfortable. I will try to visit again as soon as possible.

Her incredible attention to detail and warm hospitality made the evening truly special. Angel noticed it was my birthday and surprised us with a charming teddy bear, a thoughtful gesture that warmed my heart. Her professionalism and genuine care elevated our dining experience beyond expectations. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

The food was great and nicely prepared. The service was very professional. Assistant Manger Angel Wong was great and very attentive. All the staff in the restaurant were very nice. The window side was great for dining due to the harbour view. Decor was upscale. HOWEVER, the restaurant was extremely noisy because some patrons with young’s kids talked extremely loud and also allowed their kids to treat the restaurant like a playground. Terrible! I would suggest that “Children of 8 and above are allowed in the main dining area, ordering the same menu.” That should deter a few adults to come in with a whole bunch of young children. As long as this is stated upfront as a policy during reservation, I think patrons will accept it and observe the policy. We spent HK$910 per person for dinner and I felt like I had a meal in a cha chaan ting. The whole rating could have been much higher.

Scenic Views & Spring Delights This restaurant boasts stunning views—definitely worth making an early reservation if you want one of the coveted window seats. We booked months ahead and were glad we did! We went for the Spring Specials set menu, which ticked all our boxes: lobster, abalone, soup, roasted meats—it was all there, and it was absolutely worth the price. Every dish was delicious, portions were generous, and even as picky eaters, we were genuinely impressed. No need for menu upgrades—the standard offerings were already excellent. Special mention to the rice—it may sound simple, but it was executed so well, fragrant and flavourful, it deserves praise. The standout dessert was the chilled pomegranate cream with sago and pomelo—a unique twist we hadn’t tried before, and it was simply heavenly. Also, don’t miss the individual portions of sesame-coated fried walnuts—super addictive! Service was respectful and professional, though a little slower than ideal, likely due to the packed house and steady stream of customers. Still, a memorable meal all around.

Very popular restaurant so make reservations. The set menu was wonderful. Everything is beautifully prepared and presented. Service was impeccable but pace by at times was slow probably due to volume of guests. Would highly recommend. Also the view is spectacular- you can see the harbour and the building lights.

Jaw dropping view of the Hong Kong island skyline! We came here for a family dinner and were very delighted with the view & the ambiance here. Food was delicious and our servers were lovely. Would come back here for special occasions but would also note the place is a little pricey for what it offers.

amazing views and really good food. if you're staying at hotel icon or dining with anyone staying at hotel icon you get 15% off your bill. the peking duck and char siu are super delicious and i loved the osmanthus jelly dessert. service was great and very accommodating. note that there is a $300 hkd corkage fee if you bring your own wine.

Very good crispy chicken. The rest of the meal was equally good. The restaurant is located on top of a high level hotel so we had a good view and were able to see the light show. Great experience!!

One of the things I was most looking forward to in Hong Kong was the amazing selection of food. However, I had been too busy to pre-book or plan an agenda. So I booked Above and Beyond based on its great reviews and easily availability the day we arrived. The amazing view was a bonus. In the end this was my favourite of all our Hong Kong restaurants. Above and Beyond is sited at the top (28th floor) of the Hotel Icon in Kowloon. It was only a short cab ride from our hotel on the island. The space is beautifully decorated, with calm, understated fittings and layout designed to make the most of the amazing view of the city. From here we got our first view of the famous nightly Hong Kong light show. Service at the restaurant was really first rate. We've eaten at a few Michelin starred places, where service is always one of the key points. However, this was possibly the best service I have ever experienced. The whole team was attentive and effective, and our waiter was very engaged with us, offering us useful travel advice (without our asking), and being helpful in many other ways. Really memorable service. As often when we are trying new places we ordered more food than we could eat. The 2 course Peking duck was my favourite. We also ordered crispy soy sauce chicken (a recent obsession of mine), which was great. We ordered a beef and cashew nut dish that was very good, and Lobster crispy noodles. All great. At the end I realised we hadn't made the best choices of dish combination, but instead had just ordered what we really wanted. Nonetheless, everything tasted superb and the team did a great job of delivering them in a way that made sense. Price for the overall food was high, but commensurate with the food and service. Overall, I cannot speak highly enough of this experience. I would definitely come back here again given the chance. A truly great meal, environment and staff.

Had a really great dim sum lunch here with my boyfriend and his dad. We got the chef's tasting set as well as some a la carte items. Everything tasted very good and services was pretty good. If you don't have a specific idea of what you want I highly recommend the tasting menu ! I shared some of my dishes with my boyfriend and between the two of us it was the right amount of food. All very fresh tasting and made in house !

Came here after checking into the Hotel Icon. See my review of the hotel separately for my full rundown on the hotel. The bar and restaurant is on the upper floor with amazing views. Had something to eat and a couple of drinks here, and the bartender was friendly and efficient, and a master at crafting drinks. The food probably wasn't as good as the amazing drinks, but the Chinese food here was also good quality. Even near closing time on a weeknight, this location was very busy and almost packed. It's popular, and not just for the views of the harbor.

The dish I had was good but the service that came with it made me not want to have another bit. They were inattentive the entire meal. After take our order they where on to I guess more important people. We didn't just walk in off the street! We had reservations and were guest of the hotel! I was surprised. I wanted to brush it off as a cultural difference but seeing that they did check in at other tables I can't give that to them. His was a great let down on our last night in Hong Kong. I hope they do better for other visitors. On the plus side. We had drinks at the bar earlier and the bar staff was magnificent. Maybe they need to go talk to the wait staff in the restaurant. I wish I could put an angry face in here. The last line would be field with them. At least the dish I had was tasty. It was a lobster dish. I didn't even bother to remember the name because of the bad service. Such a great presentation and view. But it didn't ruin anything just disappointed me. I had higher expectations based on the rest of our stay. Oh and the women at the front desk.. please get off the phone next time and don't just wave guest by like you are to busy. Someone else (from the bar) had to go tell her we had reservations for dinner. Just a bad experience.

My family and I spent four nights at Hotel Icon, and during our stay, we visited Above & Beyond three times, once for breakfast and twice for pre-dinner drinks. It was a pleasant place to hang out, and I was glad our club level rooms gave us complimentary access. The space was nice, with a good view and a lot of comfortable seating. Service was excellent, as it was everywhere else in the hotel. There was a buffet at breakfast and a snack area during cocktail hour. There was also a full bar. I wouldn't choose Above & Beyond for breakfast over Market given the two options (if you get breakfast included with your stay, these are your exact two options), but mostly because Market is amazing. The breakfast here offered a more limited selection, but it was fine, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. I wasn't that into the pastries and things that were out in the buffet, but I did get some dim sum, which was included but served a la carte. I had a few different buns and dumplings and enjoyed them very much. As for liquor, I think at various points I had some wine, some Manhattan, and some mango and strawberry daiquiri. I'm probably forgetting a couple things, but everything was pretty solid. I liked drinking here. I guess I wouldn't push Above & Beyond for food, especially over Market, but you should definitely take advantage of it if you're staying in the Hotel Icon. Even if you're just swinging by the hotel, this place is worth checking out. It's a cool spot to grab a drink and a bite while looking out over Hong Kong.

AMBIANCE ========= Beautiful harbor views. Modern and upscale. Dress nice. AFTERNOON TEA TREATS ===================== SAVORY *Sweetened Almond Cream with Lotus Seeds and Lily Bulbs *7 dim sum specialties including - Crispy-fried Puff stuffed with Prawns - Pork Dumpling with Halibut and Black Mushroom - Mushroom Dumpling with Pumpkin - Crispy Taro Cake - Crab Meat Puff - Baked Goose Liver and Pineapple Puff - Smoke Duck Breast - Steamed Bun We liked maybe half of the dim sum items. RATING: 3/5 SWEETS - Chestnut Crème Brulee - Raspberry Lemon Cheese Ball - Chilled Jelly with Lychee and Osmanthus - Sesame Tuille The presentation was very pretty. Liked the chilled jelly the best. RATING: 4/5 BEVERAGE ========== ROSE AND JASMINE TEA Nicely fragrant and was brought out in a clear glass kettle. RATING: 3.5/5 OVERALL ======== Definitely enjoyed the views and the leisure-ness of afternoon tea with Cantonese savory treats instead of scones. Service was a bit slow and if you can't get a window seat, it's not worthy of an experience. RECOMMEND for small groups and dates.

Good place to take your out-of-town friends who are craving for good Chinese/Cantonese food. The view is going to impress! I came for dinner service and the signature dish here is the Crab Sticky Rice (紅尋米粒), which we didn't get to try since the crabs were huge and too many for two people. Instead, we ordered randomly off the menu, might have taken a recommendation or two from the waiter. All the dishes came out delicious. I loved the candied walnuts here. In fact, I loved it so much I tried making it at home the weekend after. Of coz it didn't taste the same (and I would like to believe that I am a rather good cook!) (Check out my blog for my attempt! The link is in my profile.) If you want a window seat, make your reservations early and request it.

Well it's very hard too give a Michelin rated restaurant one star but I am. I stayed at the Hotel Icon which in another post received 5 stars for its impeccable service and hospitality so please don't confuse my experience with the restaurant with the hotel. As an avid diner who knows what great service is this restaurant fell surprisingly short. After being escorted too the bar because the greeter just waved me in because she felt i was there for bar, the nice manager at the bar escorted me back to the greeting area too inform them I had a reservation. Once i was seated, we felt invisible. After our cocktails came out which i had already ordered from the bar, it took at least 10 minutes to place our order. The server never explained the menu, the specials or the recommendations from the chef. He just took the entire order and just left and he never revisited the table. I observed for the next hour as the wait staff took other patrons photos, and asked if they needed anything or refilled something as simple as water....really water. The food was probably good but the service was so terrible i couldn't even finish my meal. I don't think I'll be revisiting on my next trip too Hong Kong. My apologies about not referencing any of the dishes but the service was not what I expected

One of the best Cantonese restaurants in HK. I was alone, but they have me half size servings so that I could enjoy cocktail, soup, two main courses and two glasses of excellent wine. Great service, too. I am sure I will be coming back again.

Seeing the view I thought this place would be awesome, sadly that was the best thing about the place. The food is just ok and the service is horribly slow.

Outstanding restaurant. Beautiful views, fantastic service, and most of all delicious food. Classic Cantonese style food prepared with western sensibilities in mind. My mother (a Hong Kong native) complained the entire time that it wasn't "authentic" Chinese food (it is, just not what she is used to), which I took as confirmation that the food is indeed great (most truly "authentic" Chinese food would not be very palatable to westerners). Pricey but worth it. Great sommelier service as well.

Service is great but food is terrible. Ordered crab over glutinous rice - The glutinous rice was so soaky, as if the cook put too much water in there. Ordered pig lung almond fish maw soup - it is was so salty that it was close bitter. Ordered Fish soup vege - Didn't know it came with a lot of tofu skin. Ordered mushroom with tofu skin - which is a lot of the same tofu skin. The captain should advice that both of the vege dish contain tofu skin so that the customer would not have to eat the same food. 9 level prawn cake - this is probably the only food being cooked properly. Overall, the food are all extremely salty. For the kind of amount they charged, the food is not at par.
