Pasadena’s Beloved French-Vietnamese Abricott Closes After Five Years - Eater LA

"Abricott, a beloved French-Vietnamese restaurant in Pasadena, closed on July 1 after a five year run. Jo and John Wee opened the restaurant in early 2012 on South Lake. Abricott prepared classic French cuisine with a Vietnamese influence, including omelets, croque-monsieur, waffles, and sizzling Vietnamese pretty eggs with toast in the early hours, then switched to a later menu with niçoise salads, yellow curries, pho, mussels, bánh mì, and a Vietnamese-inspired burger." - Mona Holmes

The location, ambiance and decorations make the place outstanding. The food was decent, but a little pricey for my wallet. The service was friendly and helpful. I'd return for another visit.

Good selection of Asian dishes with great taste. No alcohol here and it's closed at 9pm

We brought our own drinks, enjoyed an excellent meal and had a great time with 11 people. The staff tolerated our confusing orders and larger group, making us feel welcome and well served. I had their Thai Pad See Yew with beef and found it to be very good. Steamed pork dumplings were a delicious appetizer. The setting is very comfortable and the prices were fair for the large dishes. I definitely recommend Abricott, especially if you bring a bottle of something special for a celebratory date.

Decor and overall atmosphere was calm, homey, and at the same time, modern. I highly recommend the chicken pad thai, or the pork belly sandwich with kimchi. Their waffles are also fantastic if you have a bit of a sweet tooth like me. Prices vary depending on if you order for lunch or dinner, but it still isn't that pricey compared to other restaurants in the area. Will definitely stop to eat there again!

I came here with some friends visiting from Norcal last week and we were searching for a brunch place in Pasadena so I recommended Abricott after doing some research. Abricott is a Vietnamese-French fusion cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The library theme of the restaurant is pretty cute and they even have pretty artwork displayed all over the walls for purchase. Although they are known for their Spicy Pork belly sandwich, I really wanted to order it but they only serve it after 11am, so I ordered the Sizzling Eggs with Toast and a side of Country Style Potatoes instead ($7+$1 for potatoes). I also ordered a latte which came with a cute heart design in the foam. Not sure what kind of coffee they use for the latte but it was SUPER strong! I was pretty wired after only drinking half a cup! The majority of our food was decent and I especially loved the flavored cucumber lime water and citrus water. I'll definitely come back again for lunch to try the Spicy Pork Belly sandwich. Tip* Two hours free parking in the back!

I've been there twice at this point and it's in my top ten for Yellow Curry with Chicken. The dish comes with giant potatoes and carrots and your choice of brown or white rice. Unlike many other places, I was not given the choice to adjust the level of spiciness which lost it a star. That being said, it's only moderately spicy and I would have only increased it if given the choice. Definitely recommend this place for curry!

Menu items are creative and we haven't had a bad dish yet for either breakfast or lunch. Note that some dishes are spicy; if you don't want spicy, don't order spicy. Highly recommended if you are looking for something different. For lunch, the wife likes the steak salad, I like the curry. The waffle is good as are the croquets for breakfast. The book selection is fun as well, and have a fresh coconut, cold & refreshing break from the Pasadena heat. The service is friendly and the staff helpful. Oh, one last thing, the pistachio cheesecake is a great finish; not too sweet and good for sharing.

Came with a large group, (15 of us). We were given the private room which we had reserved, We had pre-ordered, service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive. Wine corkage was allowed and they did have a corkscrew. The cold dishes were served cold and the hot dishes hot. I especially like the seared tuna salad over soba noodles. For lunch it appeals to the working person as you walk up to the counter, order and pay. You get a number and they will find you with your food. Serve yourself water and utensils. No need to wait for a check at the end of the meal. Try the burger or the short ribs. They have a bit of everything and can do a one hour lunch. There is free parking (2 hours) behind the restaurant and a back entrance. good for a shoppers stroll on Lake Ave.
