The 16 Best Restaurants In Paddington

"Although Abu Afif is canteen in style, the Iraqi restaurant’s plastic trays and paper plates belie the flavour and tenderness of its shawarma. Pretty much everything about this big corner spot on the Edgware Road is straightforwardly solid. A plate with salad, hummus, taboon straight from the tandoor, and a pile of steaming meat is a tenner and it’s great. While the space—full of solo diners stuffing their faces with shawarma, friends scrolling on their phones mid-bite, and families taking a break—is exactly what everyone needs night and day." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

Restaurants Within A Five-Minute Walk Of The Underground For When It’s Raining, Again - London - The Infatuation

"Near Edgware Road Pretty much everything about Abu Afif, an Iraqi canteen-style spot on the corner of Edgware Road, is straightforwardly solid. A plate with salad, hummus, taboon straight from the tandoor, and a pile of steaming meat is generous and tasty. The space is usually full of solo diners stuffing their faces with shawarma, friends scrolling on their phones mid-bite, and families taking a break—exactly what a rainy day calls for. " - Team Infatuation

The Best Shawarma in London

"Another good option if on the hunt for shawarma on Edgware Road. Lamb is the one to go for here, which is piquant and enticingly singed. Better still, in addition to ordering it in a wrap, diners can order it in a rhombus-shaped, crusty samoun, or a doughier, thicker tanoor baked in a clay oven. It comes with warm tomatoes that sit underneath the spit, salad, and optional sauces. The key here is to avoid everything but the tahini sauce, as the heavy spicing of the meat calls for a simple contrast. A word of warning for chilli lovers: don’t be tempted by the chilli sauce, as it tastes generic, sweet and detracts from an otherwise great meat-in-bread experience." - Joel Hart

This Iraqi eatery serves and excellent Lamb and good Chicken Shawarma. The Lamb Shawarma has a more heightened and deeper flavour profile and is more flavoursome than the Chicken Shawarma in my opinion; whereas the Chicken tastes more plain in comparison. The accompanying Naan bread is very good but the pickles and sauces could be better. I was not a fan of the pastries. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Not Worth the Wait – Poor Service and Hygiene I tried the shawarma here and found the food to be quite average—not worth the hype. The staff were polite, but the service was painfully slow. You have to pay at the till, then take the receipt to the front desk and wait in another queue. It took over 25 minutes just to be served, which is unacceptable. On top of that, the toilet was extremely dirty. There was no water or toilet paper available, which shows a complete lack of basic hygiene standards. After this experience, I definitely won’t be returning. Not recommended.

Google
A popular Middle Eastern (specifically Iraqi) restaurant known for its authentic shawarma, homemade pastries, and vibrant casual dining vibe. Also praised for fresh fruit juices, smoothies, and a great tea selection Handsome value—with wraps starting around £9–10, plates from £7–£19, and desserts like kunafa for about £4.50

Google
Best Halal and authentic Lebanese Shawarma place in Central London!!!! My always go to place for delicious, juicy shawarma having that real and true lebanese flavour of meat, hummus and veges! Whether chicken or lamb, you can never go wrong with them. Cherry on top is their centre filled Kunafa which has the best cream cheese filling. Have also tried other items of theirs at other times like Bakhlava, Kunafa fingers and pastries which are good too but Shawarma is the best. My always go to place to satisfy those cravings.

Fresh bread made on site, could be more customer friendly. I personally found it a bit bland. There was 5 of us.

We tried the shawarma wraps—they were really good. Definitely better than the ones we’ve had at other Mediterranean spots on Edgware Road.
