London’s Best East African Restaurants: Ethiopian, Eritrean, and Somali | Eater London

"The name Abyssinia was that of the ancient Ethiopian empire that preceded today’s nation state. Fitting then that it should be the name of London’s self-proclaimed first and oldest Ethiopian restaurant in London. In addition to the regular regional fare of meats and vegetable combos beside injera, expect golden roasted red meat tibs and tilapia fish. As the night drifts on, a cup of tej — Abyssinian honey wine — to is highly recommended." - Riaz Phillips

A lovely atmosphere, fantastic food and very hospitable. Good value for a quality meal! I highly recommend it! Don't miss the opportunity to see how they roast and make coffee in the traditional way and the home made honey wine is amazing. Will definitely be returning. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Lovely restaurant with large portions and so much choice from vegan, to heavy meat, to sweet. I'm in love with their collard greens and the coffee ceremony was lovely. Staff were very patient with our nephew and were happy to help me pick out my second ever meal with Injera bread. Much love and appreciation for everyone.

Super clean, nice music and atmosphere. The cook/owner Reem and other staff were so kind and informative. First time having proper Ethiopian food and it was really good and fresh. Everything was also super affordable. Can't wait to go back and try ot in Swansea. The place was beautifullly decorated too. My fave was the Doro Wot (chicken and egg)

I'm not a resident of swansea but happened upon this wonderful restaurant. As a vegan I struggle to find tasty, healthy and delicious food but they certainly have it here. Great service and really friendly staff. Can't wait to come back. Thank you for a incredible meal and Ethiopian experience.

A wonderful, authentic Ethiopian restaurant. All dishes appear to be prepared to order, so expect a little wait for your food. But it is well worth it. We were a mixed Ethiopian/British family group, and consensus was that this was some of the best Ethiopian cuisine we have had in UK. Dishes ordered: Mahberawi and Yeberie Lega Tibs. Enough for a family of X4 to share with plenty of injera - the injera wasn't too "heavy" - I struggle to eat more than a small amount usually... We also enjoyed the Tej - home made Ethiopian Honey Wine, and Bhuna - traditional Ethiopian coffee. Great value and well worth a visit!!!

I can confidently say this restaurant serves truly authentic and delicious Ethiopian & Eritrean food. The injera was perfectly soft and tangy, and every dish was full of rich, traditional flavor just like home. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere felt very inviting. It’s a place I’ll keep coming back to and highly recommend to anyone wanting a real taste of Ethiopian culture and hospitality.

Delicious home style food, generous portions, and warm hospitality. Reem is a wonderful host and is passionate about sharing her cooking with guests. I had the vegan platter for one and loved every dish!

It's usually hard to find authentic food that tastes like homemade, but this place truly delivered. The food was amazing, and the aesthetic and design of the space were beautiful. We were welcomed with such warm hospitality—it felt like we were part of the family. The service was excellent. Most of our friends had never tried this type of food before, but they were blown away by the taste and loved the lively atmosphere. We also experienced the traditional coffee ceremony, which many of us really enjoyed. If you're looking for a delicious meal in a welcoming, vibrant setting, this is the place to go.
