Ace Hardware of West LA

Good and well-stocked hardware store. It had everything I needed. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I was looking for a certain size of the bolt and store worker quickly helped me find exact bolts I needed. I would probably spend lots of time trying to find it. Prices here are pretty reasonable. The store has many parking spots.

I recently purchased a Craftsman drill and used it for just a couple of hours. When I tried to return it, I was told that returns are not accepted if the item has been used. But how can a customer know if a tool works properly or meets their needs without trying it? I believe this policy is unfair and should be communicated more clearly at the time of purchase. Additionally, I had a very disappointing experience with Michael at the return counter. He was extremely rude—not just to me but also to other customers waiting to pick up online orders. He wouldn’t even make eye contact or acknowledge people properly. His behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable. Someone with that attitude should not be working in customer service.

I was repairing a door and needed a few door stops +cabinet hinges. The store is well stocked and has a variety of cabinetry options. The staff is friendly n courteous. Seasonal decorations are available too

Gino is the absolute best! I was shopping for someone else and needed a bunch of items, I was totally clueless about most of the things on my list. He came to my rescue, finding each and every item with an awesome attitude and a great smile. If I ever need anything again this is my go to hardware store.

This place is amazing. It has all the tools and fertilizer I need, although if you do want to find plants, I would recommend the nursery nearby. While the plants are fine, I find the nearby nurseries to be much better for the same price if not cheaper. When you enter, you are greeted by a very large warehouse, more decorated and shaped than a Costco, mind you, but it has anything a hardware store needs. Over to the left, there is a cargo door to the outside but gated nursery. In the back there are stairs to yet more tools

This is specifically for Richard’s excellent customer service. He helped my 72 year old mother find the correct battery and charger for a craftsman tool she has bought. He was kind and funny and never spoke patronizingly. We will come back!

needed a few screws and some wall paint for a small project at home, but I had no idea what kind to get so I just brought one of the old screws with me in my bag like a total newbie, one of the guys at the store didn’t even blink, just looked at it and helped me find exactly what I needed. I also brought a small paint chip from my wall and they matched it super close. The place isn’t huge, but they’ve got all the basics, I was in and out in under 20 minutes

Very convenient to where I was at. Very friendly and helpful employees. Definitely will stop again if I need something and am in the area.

Clean, had everything I needed, and what I most appreciated was that it felt a little elevated as a shopping experience from the warehouse sadness of Home Depot.

This review is specifically about the paint department. There are two young guys who work there and one deserves five stars while the one deserves one star, hence the average of three stars. The young Asian guy with short hair is fantastic. Very knowledgeable and helpful. The other skinny Asian guy with a ponytail is absolutely terrible. He takes fake phone calls to avoid helping customers and then once you get his attention, he pretends he doesn't know about the paints so he doesn't have to answer your questions. Why do you work in the paint department then?? Super rude and absolutely useless. Fire the second guy and give the first guy a raise!

Fantastic customer service. David (paint department) was very helpful when it came to finding the perfect semi glass for my kitchen. Definitely my go to hardware store !

Not only are they overpriced which shouldn't be a shocker mostly come here for the convenience since Home Depot is farther out. You would expect the customer service to be top notch but the employees seem more concerned over their own conversation between one another than doing their job and helping customers. Specifically talking about the girls over in the electrical department this has happened multiple times!

I like the Ace hardware chain and this store is impressive in West LA just north of Olympic on Bundy. There is a huge selection of items and they had everything I wanted including the exact type of folding knife for only $15. I also bought a nice Master lock for only $18. Service was also above average and on point. There is ample parking and also bike stands which I appreciated. This is the best and largest Ace hardware I've ever patronized. Highly recommended.

Very friendly service and people were able to point me in the right direction on where to find items. It's important to support local business. Please note that this is not part of a national chain, the owners of this franchise own two or three other stores in Ventura and deserve tge local support.

Look, with all the issues surrounding the Palisades wildfire, you know how difficult it must be to be an employee of Ace Hardware. It's a thankless job with hundreds of people coming in every day, stock is running low, tempers are on edge, etc., etc. But they do an amazing job. I purchased an item and the delivery was scheduled for today. I forgot to tell them to assemble it, so I called today and spoke to Jose and Rosa to ask if they could assemble it before shipping it to me . Yes they said. Not only did they assemble it, they still delivered it today! It's employees like Rosa and José who make a good business a GREAT business!

Went to pick up some garden soil with my 92 yr old Mom. No prices posted. Needed help. Politely came up to the guy and let him know. He questioned me and acted annoyed. Never showed up. Had to go to the front desk for a manager. Noone came. Walked out. The garden guy was on the phone hiding "giving advice on how to water and care for a plant" for 20 minutes blatantly ignoring us. Wow.

My apartment flooded and I just needed a wet vac. Major emergency. The place might have been closed for 5 minutes. I begged these people to sell me a wet vac. They couldn't care less. They told me "I don't know why you're still standing here, we can't help you ". Such a disappointing sight to see. This was supposed to be our neighborhood hardware store. Osh would have never treated me like that. Never coming to this store again.

Great service here. Fantastic BBQ selection and salespeople. (Eleanor thanks for your help). Bought my Treager Timberline 1300 here, my Weber Smokey Mountain, a ton of different pellets for the Traeger and several tons of natural wood chunks and full size splits for all wood BBQing. They have EVERYTHING you could need here. Huge spice n sauce selection too. Prices are competitive

This store is the most convenient for me and is good for the most part. Sometimes it can be hard to find assistance, but usually someone is available. My only complaint are the quality of the the LED two pin light bulbs. I had this problem before (a while ago) and thought it was a one off thing, but it doesn't appear to be. I noticed that some of the light bulbs on the rack had been taped up because they presumably were returns, so I skip those and go for the new packaging. So yesterday I purchased some new bulbs and once again the three pack is another dud. They will probably tape these up and put them back onto the rack...which explains why some of them look taped up. It's annoying to have to go back and forth to the store like this when I can order exactly what I want from Amazon. As much as I like supporting local businesses, this has happened twice over a span of 2-3 years. Not sure what the problem is, but its a shame to have to use Amazon and not be able to buy the light bulbs locally.

Nico went above and beyond in helping me get my battery replaced in my key chain!! He took the time to walk out to my car to check it to make sure it worked.

I've been coming here for years as my local go-to hardware spot and never had any complaints, solid store with great selection. But my recent trip to pick up some paint made me way to leave a quick review as Arnold, the team member who helped me, was an absolute star! He offered amazing customer care and despite my crappy paint sample, went above and beyond to try to make a match. What a A+ employee, he truly made my whole day with his exceptional service and kind demeanor.

The service is awful. I was looking for a plumbing hex wrench. One employee called another to help me. The second employee responded he would be right over. 5 minutes later I was still waiting. The first guy walked me over to the second guy, who knew I was waiting. As he saw me standing there waiting, he proceeded to help two new customers who walked up to him, even after we made eye contact. Both customers were looking at light bulbs, which is apparently a complicated topic that requires a life history. After 15 minutes I left. This was incredibly rude. Next time I'm going to Orchard or ordering from Amazon.

I came in with extremely old paint (19 years) and rust issues with the can. Employee Arnold De Leon was able to salvage a most of it and find a proper can to store it in. Arnold went above and beyond, and his attitude was incredible. His colleague Brittany also went out of her way to find some necessary items for the job. I've never experienced such a wonderful experience at any home repair related establishment in my life.

They have limited hardware stuff. Most of it overpriced compared to Lowe's and HD. The staff here are borderline useless, nobody is ever around when you need one. When you do find one they don't know much of anything. This place also stocks some harbor freight quality products you really have to watch out for. Just seriously low quality. I feel absolutely scammed by some of the junk this place sold me here. A bolt cutter that can barely cut a chain linked fence, and an overpriced plastic plunger that doesn't plunge. Either case they refused to do anything, says once you use anything they can't do a return. Well.. yeah you had to use it in order to know it doesn't work as advertised.

This store truly has everything for everyone's needs for their home repairs, maintenance and minor construction. Lots of knowledgeable helpers roaming the isles to assist those of us bewildered and confused by the myriad of choices. Thank God!

There is a disorganization in that store, but the most sad part is the Rudeness of Michael, he got mad because the order was made from STHIL website and he could not find it, he has lack of empathy and he has notorious attitude problem, that is not my problem, but i want to thanks to Miguel who really helped me to find the right person who release the STHIL orders, and Ardy was nice as well, I just want to share with you guys what is the best definition of customer service: is the support, assistance, and advice provided by a company to its customers both before and after they buy or use its products or services, is the last time i visit that store. And their products are not really cheap.

I came in to see if they had roof shingle as a few of mine needs replacing. The cashier in front told me they dont have them but to try Anawalts and then Lows/Home Depot if needed but they are farther. I appreciate her help and will continue my shopping at Ace. However the male behind her was not happy she shared names of where I might locate some. He gave me the eye roll and shrug. So, today's experience was a 3 due to the male. Would have been a 5 for her dedication to help customer even if it means I had to go elsewhere (for an item they didn't carry anyways.

My review might not affect anyone because this is a special circumstance. I use the electronic cart because I have rheumatoid arthritis and I use a crutch. I needed to go upstairs. I left the cart outside the elevator. When I came back down the cart was gone. I had left my crutch at the front. So when I finally made it to the front, the cart was there and there's two or three young men just laughing. Thinking it's funny. You want to know what's funny is when I went upstairs the first time, I was told it's okay to take that electric card into the elevator. I almost got stuck because there's a pole attached to it. So having nothing to do with me actually purchasing anything, I was told one thing and it was to complete opposite, again taking the card into the elevator. And then the cart disappearing and the kids laughing at me. I'm not ever going to come back to the store I don't care if they have exactly what I need I'm over it

This was going to be a seething one star review, but manager Lee stepped up and completely and totally fixed the issue. I wanted to shop local and avoid the behemoth Amazon and the like and chose Westlake (West LA) Ace Hardware. Long story short, things initially did not work out as I had hoped. However, after a nice telephone call, Manager Lee took care of everything. His attention to detail was amazing, and his taking responsibility and rectifying the problem was something that all businesses should do. I can't say enough good things about Westlake (West LA) Ace Hardware

Employees are hard to find when you need help and usually very rude and condescending when you ask them a question, or don't bother to check if they have items in stock. If you need help finding an employee to assist you they're usually up in the front talking with each other.

I visit this Ace Hardware regularly as it's the closest to home. Went yesterday (June 11) at 10:45am and asked for help locating special screws for my license plate. Was told by the first older male employee, "It's not my department." Spent the next 15 minutes trying to locate what I needed before asking a second older male employee for help. Was told "Can't. We're understaffed." No apology, no offer to find someone else to help. Nothing. Another customer approached that same second employee a minute later and was told - not asked - "Be patient" like a parent scolding a child. Eventually, with the help of another customer (not an employee), I locate a bin full of what I need but I'm still unclear on the size so I have to buy several and try them on my car in the parking lot. Twice. After the second time, I go back into the store, grab three more of the screw that works and see signs asking customers to bag their own purchases and write the quantity and price on the bag. Presumably so Ace's grumpy and lazy employees don't have to and the company saves even more money by asking customers to do the work. It takes me almost 45 minutes to find and purchase four screws. I own a retail business and know how difficult it is to find good employees while also competing with online stores, but if any of my employees behaved the way Ace's did, they would be out of a job immediately. There is also an independently owned hardware store near my store so I will be buying from them from now on.

But a fan of hardware stores unless you know exactly what you are looking for but this place is pretty awesome because of thier service. After roaming around for about 10 minutes we were intercepted by a young guy named Fisher who walked us around for all the random things we needed. He even said at one time. This isn't what you want. Use this. Ended walking out for two Benjamin's which I was happy to pay for because of the great service.

I have had to come here about six times in three weeks. Which is not my norm. Each time, service has been great. Prices reasonable. Experience is always enjoyable.

Very friendly and helpful staff, huge selection of pretty much everything, one of the best selections of BBQ and grills from all the major players, prices are very reasonable. Not local to me but worth the 30 minute drive for the selection and service.

Great friendly place . I'm new to the area and have been here several times every single time I am greeted I am welcomed and the staff is eagerly ready to always help with any questions. We definitely recommend this place like I said new to the area and it really feels good to come to a place of business like this.

Service is garbage. The staff is rude and unhelpful. The prices are outrageous- as you're walking down the aisle just open your Amazon app and check the prices. This is why brick and mortar stores are going down the toilet. What good is a store if it's not even worth going into because the help is in not knowledgeable? At least if you're going to overpay you should do it for the service or help you get. This place has nothing going for it. Stay away and just buy from amazon. Save yourself from dealing with the store's worthless staff.

Short-staffed location, gentleman in front on a Sunday afternoon could not help me with an Ace hardware purchase, said to come back tomorrow. I said the only free time I had was today, I have a job I have to be physically at 9-5, Monday - Friday. Service was disappointing to say the least, might as well go to Home Depot and get the same level of service but cheaper prices. Too bad the local neighborhood hardware store sucks even more than HD. Another Ace Hardware nearby also said they could not help me with my purchase, when previously they said they could, that's called bait and switch.

I had the best Ace Hardware West LA experience today. James helped me choose my spray paint canisters and showed me different options for hooks and caster wheels. Jalen was at the register today but I'll be back tomorrow to chat about succulents. I love the new store design! Especially love how calming and serene the entire gardening section is. I get so excited to visit the store each time! Keep doing what your doing!!

Been here twice now. First time, was looking for a product that their website said was available and after unsuccessfully trying to find it in the store, I tried to find an employee to help me and there was no one. After a while I finally found someone and they said they don't carry it even though the website said they did without even looking at my phone. Finally found it upstairs probably after an hour of looking. Price was also twice as expensive as online. Second time, did a curbside pickup because my daughter was sleeping in her car seat and they refused to come out to bring me my order. I told them my situation and they said they wouldn't come in and I had to come inside to get my order then hung up the phone. Not friendly. Not helpful.

I just had an awesome experience at Ace and I needed to make sure everyone heard the good news. I've been a rewards member for years and own a gym in Santa Monica where I've got massive building projects almost every month. Ace sent a flier for an amazing deal on two impact drills for the price of one for the month of April. The rub-- When I went in to get the drills, mid-April, they were out of stock. I kept checking back, but the restock was longer than expected. Soon, the month would turn, negating the deal. Hoping to secure an answer, I talked with a great pair of managers who reassured me that, regardless, they'd honor the deal if I came back in when they restocked. I confess I was NOT optimistic about the almost-certain brush-off. Today, I went into the store, found the drills, and talked to Nick at the front counter. He was fantastic; despite the tricky situation, he and his coworkerTammy wrestled with the computers to fulfilled the deal. I've been absolutely impressed by the team over at Ace. It's my go-to, and I'm been able to set myself up for out current, epic project of retrofitting our entire backyard with a giant rigging system for our athletes. And, now I get to be even MORE thankful and excited to frequent Ace of West LA. Thanks, guys!!! I put some pictures in so you can see what you've helped build...

The sign on the pallet of concrete says to ask for assistance. After waiting for 15 minutes and being shuffled between workers, I just got the bag 50 pound myself.

People who work here really know what they're doing. Can you get supplies cheaper on Amazon or at Home Depot? Most likely. But on a couple of occasions, I had questions and the salespeople were very friendly and knowledgable here. It's as if you have to pass a test to work here... It runs like a mom-and-pop shop and that's a compliment. I'm not saying they're expensive because they're not, but because of the way I've been treated there I prefer them over Home Depot/Amazon.

Worst customer service. I asked for the manager, Arty, and after 15 minutes he still didn't come to help. Their apple pay and touch pay is not working as well and I had to leave all of my stuff at the register. Their tap and apple pay hasn't worked for over a month. They need new systems. Until then go to Anawalt. Calling is also a nightmare. Their systems can't check items and so they pass you around the phone until either you get disconnected or you hang up.

I have to say that I've been in several locations and all of them really good with a customer service. But I have to highlight this location because of one particular man who helped me with a bolt dead lock. His name Dave and if you have any problems with keys or locks, he's a man you want to see, talk and have him to help you. His magic hands helped me to match my existing handle lock to the brand new(which I've got from that store) to my existing handle lock that I have. He's very kind, knowledgable and super friendly. I marked that location as my store and definitely bringing and recommending to all my freinds got that location where Dave works. Thank you so much Dave.

I've been to this ace hardware location several times since it's opened up here. I do most of my shopping in the nursery and I have never seen this place look so good. The color and variety is amazing and the employee that works out there is very kind and helpful. I don't recall his name but the kid has helped me on multiple occasions and has made shopping here a great experience. Thanks to Ace for having the best flower selection in the area. It's nice to just to walk around the nursery some days

I order heavy bags of salt to be delivered to this store. They are always pleasant and helpful when I pick it up.

I may not look like it but, I'm one handy little momma. I can get my green thumb out when the time is right and I can also fix stuff all around the house. One of my fav things to do at Ace Hardware is go perusing the aisles and look at all the different homey nick-knacks. I get inspired walking down the paint aisle, checking out the power tool section (secretly my fav because building stuff rocks!), seeing different storage option in the bin section is great too. The garden section is decent and has several options to choose from for gorg flowers, leafy plants and cool garden/yard additions. They also make keys copies and quick tip... the main parking lot is a bit squished so best to park on the side lot or even the side street if you don't want door dings on your whip. The only big negative is that the pricing isn't competitive at all. I've price checked items that I needed and Ace is ALWAYS more expensive. Bummer but better than spending more gas/time driving out to Marina Dell Rey (to a larger brick & mortar, you know the one with orange lettering). As they say "Ace is the place". The place to get what you need also the place where to drop more dough per item. Because of this one important reason, I'm giving a solid 3.

Best customer service ever. I needed a copy of a sales receipt from 15 months back. I asked the general store manager, Brian for assistance. Within a few hours, their tech support located the receipt and emailed it to me. I am their forever, lifetime loyal customer. Thank you. Brian.

Called to see if they have pool sand. The guy was polite but a bit confused about what that was. However he still managed to find it by asking around to his coworkers, all while juggling another customer. That's a plus. The store itself is clean, organized and bustling with staff. Most of them are extremely friendly. When I struggled with a bag of sand a staff member came to my rescue! The guy who helped me transfer them to my car was a total sweetheart also. The only thing that didn't earn them a perfect score was the one employee whom I encountered when I arrived. I asked about the pool sand and he stated that they didn't carry any. Then he proceeded to ask who I spoke to when I said I confirmed it over the phone just minutes earlier. Finally he asked another employee who quickly gave me the aisle and row it was in.

This place is a godsend for random projects that require misc hardware. Since their website doesn't have this stuff searchable, I've taken pictures of their whole section so I won't need to physically go there anytime I want to check if they have what I need. The manager, Lee, was extremely helpful. I was looking for an 18" cast iron grill top to my circular Yellowstone fire pit I bought. I was able to find a half grill top but wanted to confirm the full circular top wasn't available because I wasn't able to find the full size. Lee walked over yo the bbq section with me after helping a customer at the register ,saw what I had and understood what I was looking for. He found what I needed by grabbing a ladder and looking in the above storage area!!!! Lee was so helpful and I am greatly appreciative of his efforts! This is an anniversary gift and it's been hard to find. Thanks to Lee, my husband and family will happy and able to grill at home and camping.
