A Cheng Goose

This restaurant is recognized by the Michelin Guide with a Bib Gourmand award (for its signature smoked goose). As tourists, we don’t want to miss it! We ordered sausage with king trumpet mushrooms, dry noodles, bamboo shoots, rice, and, of course, the famous sliced smoked goose. All the food is flavorful. The atmosphere is simple — just dine and relax. If you're a tourist traveling with a kid, this restaurant might be challenging as it could be new to their palate. Overall, the experience was nice and one of the best!

Don't walk in if your group has more than 4pax as there's only 4 big tables. 2 on Level 2 and 2 on Level 3. The 2 big round tables on Level 3 were occupied by 3pax per table as they have reserved table online. The table allocation here is terrible. My group of six waited over an hour on a Tuesday evening from 5.30pm because they wouldn't combine tables. They need to rethink their system. Food was great and love the chilli but not coming back again if I have more than 4pax in my group.

First time here.. very nice food…Smoked goose — tender, aromatic, and richly flavorful. The perfect balance of smokiness and savor, best enjoyed with shredded ginger with their signature sauce

The goose meat is soft, not strong taste as I was concerned. We ordered 2 types of noodles, would recommend the XO sauce one.

Super delicious, smoky goose and delicious side dishes too. The wait is bearable thanks to the open kitchen you get to look into while waiting.

If you like goose, then you must book a meal at A Cheng. The goose is sliced very thinly and served with finely shredded ginger which paired well with the savoury goose meat. Do order the goose oil rice which complements the goose meat well. The clam soup was very tasty too. Also like the steamed prawns. We had a great meal at A Cheng Goose Restaurant!

Decent smoked goose. Flavour was good, but meat was not very tender. Probably not worth the wait. We waited around 40minutes for a table of 2, started waiting around 615pm on a Friday.

Best goose in Taiwan!! Brought my girlfriend to try her first goose experience and fulfilled my craving after years. Still the great taste as I remembered from childhood. We ordered way more they we can eat but wth, I can't have these food every year. Every dish tasted good and service is great.

If you like goose this the place for you. The smoked goose here is delicious. It's one of my favourites when I come to Taipei. I also really enjoy the goose oil rice as well. Don't miss out on their homemade sauces.

The Goose Of Your Dreams Taiwanese Style! This was my most expensive meal in Taiwan at less than $10 USD per person, and it was SO worth it (though $10 USD for lunch is rare these days in the U.S.). From the efficient queue system to the sauce bar, A Cheng Goose is absolutely iconic. The goose meat is tender, smoky, and juicy. You have your different sauces to dip the goose in. Wash down the meat with Taiwan Beer (I got their 18 days limited edition), and enjoy some greens with it, such as the pickled mustard greens and sweet potato vines - the latter is amazing. If you are a rice fan, you'll want their goose oil-infused rice as well. I get this place's hype now. 10 out of 10. Truly epic reconnecting with my excellent high school bud I've known for close to 30 years Felix Wu at Michelin recommended goose restaurant A Cheng Goose阿城鵝肉 吉林本店 and possibly a more epic and interesting story is running into renowned and talented Internet pr0n luminary Melody Marks who was at a table with a large group of other Japanese male pr0n actors and a few Japanese/Taiwanese female ones in town for I believe the TAE - 台灣成人博覽會 Taiwan Adult Expo, no doubt wanting to also sample the reputable Michelin recommended cuisine like the roast goose and stinky tofu. They also have nice beverages like a great iced tea and Taiwan beer. Service also great and prompt. Overall truly excellent and highly recommended (and Michelin approved)!

A Cheng Goose is really popular but I'm not sure why. If you've had roast goose in Hong Kong, there's no need to go out of your way try this. Their smoked goose was too salty and they only had savory dipping sauces. The skin wasn't crispy and there were a lot of bones.

I've never had goose meat before as it seems to be less common in the States, but I love duck so knew I had to come here to try goose! Google Maps had us a bit confused as it led us to the take-out only shop, but a staff member was able to point us towards the sit-down restaurant across the street. Grab an order sheet and mark down what you want while you wait to help speed things up. After being seated and confirming your order with the wait staff, you can grab your own plates, bowls, chopsticks, utensils, and sauces at the self-serve station. Beers and waters can be grabbed from the fridge too and they'll just charge it to your table! We went overboard and ordered way too much food since the dishes ended up being much larger than we expected. We really struggled to finish everything and were shocked when the final bill only came out to be around $350 NTD per person, especially considering some of the items we ordered, like goose and blood cake, generally tend to be on the pricier side. We got the smoked goose that they're famous for, and while it's pretty different from duck, I think anyone who enjoys duck will like their goose as well. But while the goose was tasty, what really stood out to me was how good their side dishes were. I'm usually indifferent about blood cake but will eat it if it's there, but my friend ordered it and I think it's some of the best blood I've ever had. Huge, firm chunks in a spicy soup with some bamboo shoots. We also ordered the bamboo shoots expecting them to be the thinly sliced pieces, but they ended up being larger chunks which were super tender and delicious! Lastly, we added on some gizzards and veggies for an entire, well-rounded meal at such an affordable price. Overall, a great place to visit if you love goose meat or even just want to try it for the first time. It's a lot less common and therefore probably way more expensive if you were to try to get it in the States. Don't overlook their side dishes because for me, these were what really made my meal!

Yeah, everyone loves this place for good reason. The goose is second to known. So well prepared. Either the smoked or the salt are going to great. The fat is so delicious and good for you. You order a couple different cuts of the goose and they have a lot of other dishes and soups. You're going to be so full and happy. There is a wait, there's a wait all the time. Just come prepared and happy to wait and then all will be good. It's priced reasonably. A value for quality and price for sure. Not much of an ambiance but don't care.

$40 USD that is what it cost for 4 of us ADULT to fill as much as we can!! You have to get a ticket then wait for your number because there is limited sitting. There is no elevator so if you are seated upper floor you have to walk the stair up! We order the HALF GOOSE and the owner thought that was too much for us since we order other small dished and soup. He doesn't know how much we eat!! The goose met was so good and fresh! WE WILL BE BACK NEXT TIME BACK IN TAIWAN!!!

Many Yelpers rated this place highly, but since I have eaten in more than a few goose restaurants in Taipei, I think this overly hyped place only deserved between three and four stars; food four stars, but service three, or less. Arrived right around 1900 and already not many choices were available on the menu. Therefore, we had to settle for second or third choices. The goose meat was too bony and services from the lethargic waitresses were much less than desirable; get your own chopstick...your self with drinks and cups, etc. I no problem of serving myself, particularly in the Asian countries, but my initial reaction was flabbergasted. Hope my candidate review here doesn't engender resentment from diehard fans of this popular eatery. Will definitely review another competitor for reference/comparison.

阿城鵝肉 (Acheng Goose) in my opinion is one of the best places in Taipei to eat at. They serve smoked or non-smoked goose with tons of delicious side dishes. Always a long line especially when you go during dinner time so highly recommend arriving early! They open at 1130 for lunch but if you don't want to wait in line, I highly recommend getting there by 11! I totally pigged out and ordered the following: - 半隻鵝肉 (smoked goose, half portion) - 翅膀 (smoked wings) - 麻辣鴨血 (spicy duck blood) - 香辣臭豆腐 (spicy stinky tofu) - 蛤蠣湯 (clam soup with sliced ginger) - 黃金筍 (bamboo shoots) - 地瓜葉 (stir fry potato leaves) - 油麵 (noodle soup with bean sprouts and chives)

Found this place as bib gourmand on the Michelin website. Got half and goose, with noodles and a side of pea vines. All the dishes were good. Goose was tender and smokey. It's best if you make a reservation beforehand online since it is very crowded but there's 3 levels of seating. I shared the meal with a friend. Tables were clean and there's a sauce mixing area, which we didn't bother with. Would come back again.

this restaurant is recommended by a lot of Redditors on r/taipei and I'm so glad I tried it. we had the smoked duck, duck fat rice, and the golden bamboo shoot and Taiwan beer. the food tasted great. the smoked duck and duck fat rice goes well together. the golden bamboo is excellent as well, very Unami bamboo and broth. it reminds me of my favorite Shanghainese soup yanduxian. Service is quick. I do enjoy the sauce bar. I only wish the portion is bigger on the duck

Dirty table and never bother to tell us every thing is self serve - go get your own chopsticks, plates and bowl if you want to eat which is fine but I wish someone told us, then we don't need to stare at our food for 15 minutes before the waitress came back to the room.

We had heard about this goose meat restaurant and were prepared for a long wait since we could not secure reservations. Got there early around 5:30 pm and got lucky, the host said if would give up the table reserved for 7 pm we could be seated right away. We ordered 1/2 of a smoked goose only $800 NT. Huge portions, so good, thinly sliced pieces. The "best" goose I have ever had. Auxiliary dishes we had were all excellent, marinated clams, steamed pork blood cake, Taiwanese sausages, pickled mustard green goose chitterlings, and bamboo shoots. The restaurant itself is super busy and high energy. Besides the dishes being served to you, everything else is self serve. You get your own drinks, utensils, and sauces. When finished our meal, there were at least 40 people waiting outside for table.

Grabbed a quick lunch after enjoying some High Mountain Oolong Tea. This is the best blood cubes I've had in my life. The cubes had firm jello like texture dunked in a spicy soup sitting on a layer of bamboo shoots. The blood has no gaminess what so ever. The goose was tender and juicy, to my surprise was not overbearing oily. However it did have tiny sharp bones which made it a little harder to eat - option to dip the duck into thick sweet orange sauce , almost like a mild sweet and sour sauce. The sausages were sweet and crunchy and the veggies were steamed with goose bone stock (maybe) and garlic and red peppers. All for 580nt to feed 3 heads - delicious!

Yes, it's a little overwhelming. I was definitely the only Caucasian in the place when I stopped by on a weeknight for dinner. And sure, English is a bit of a challenge but the usual pointing and gestures got me by. One finger raised to indicate one in my party. Pointing at the menu items (which have English under the Mandarin, but the ordering sheet does not) and yep, everyone understands "Beer" as he brought me a glass and a bottle opener. The goose was served chilled with a zippy ginger garnish on the side. I also managed to figure out which one of the items got me a bowl of steamed rice. Thin-cut goose, in bite sized pieces. Absolutely delicious. Condiments section towards the back has chili pepper oil, flakes and soy sauce plus more. I filled a small dish with some and it was excellent for dipping. The chili pepper really brought out the flavor of the goose. The goose was cooked and served with skin on, so it was a little fatty/greasy. No worries, though. The fat carries the flavor! Five stars. It was terrific. My lack of Mandarin and their limited English was a small challenge, but we got past that and I had a tasty dinner.

This place is legit if you're looking for goose meat. It has a throw back vibe to it and it's a lot cleaner than most places that sell similar dishes. The closest MRT is Sonjiang Nanjing and it's just a 10 min walk. If you can't get a reservation, come early. We came before 5pm and after 5pm there was already a line out the door. They cook the goose meat in two ways, you can't go wrong with either one. As for side dishes, the dry and noodle soups aren't too special, but they are very cheap. The mushroom sausage was also a popular dish.

Was looking for an authentic goose meat noodles while in Taipei. This place didn't disappoint me. The meat was tasty, the noodles were great and the various other sides we got were what I expected from my childhood when I was in Taiwan. Service was good as well. If you are in Taipei and looking for authentic fare I'd suggest this place.

This place has legit goose. The goose meat is perfectly marinated and cooked. Get the 麻辣 goose blood and stinky tofu as well. Great place for dinner.

One of the better goose meat rice places in Taiwan. Their dishes are all really good, authentic Taiwan style fare. Definitely worth a try, just get there before peak times to avoid long wait times and to ensure that some dishes are not sold out.
