Ad Maiora - Review - Northern Quarter - Manchester - The Infatuation

"You can forgive the hanging fake parma ham legs in this Italian sandwich spot run by Manchester City fans (one of their specials is called Haaland’s), because Ad Maiora is serious about focaccia. We’re talking high-grade olive oil, slow fermentation, pleasing dimples, slightly crunchy on the outside, cushiony inside. This exceptional bread is generously stuffed, New York Italian deli-style, so you more than get your money’s worth. Whether you chomp it down on one of the few stools by the window, or take one with you to enjoy in a quieter, greener spot outside of the Northern Quarter, there isn’t a better lunch option when sauntering around the city. Customisation is an option, but the Colosseo is a winner. Parma ham, basil, mayo, tomatoes, rocket, and mozzarella, if you like, but you’d be mad not to upgrade to buffalo, which has a lactic sweetness that lifts everything. Even diehard Manchester United fans might find themselves crossing enemy lines. photo credit: Tajda Ferko" - Joel Hart

WOW! Absolutely delicious sandwiches! My only complaint is the sandwiches should be cut in half. My veggie Nonna was packed full, it was very messy to eat because it was so big. I will always grab a sandwich for our train journey home from Ad Maiora but I’ll make sure I pick up some napkins too 😋

A lovely, high-quality Italian deli with a small but expertly curated menu. The flavor combinations are spot-on, and every item feels thoughtfully put together. The sandwiches are generously filled—great value for money—and absolutely delicious. The staff are warm and welcoming, creating a relaxed atmosphere that's perfect for enjoying a great lunch indoors. I could easily eat here every day.

Travelled one hour from Yorkshire. Paid £4 to park for one hour Waited in total 35 minutes from ordering to waiting O M G I knew I should've ordered two sandwiches!!! Expensive? Very! Was it worth, oh yes! The sandwiches are big!!! They work out as two sandwiches, as i shared with my other half it worked out like £7 a sandwich which is very reasonable. Taking in to amount the ingredients are sourced from Italy. Super busy take away on a Saturday 2.300m afternoon. I have not stop thinking about this place and I have woken up today trying to work out when I have time to go back down for another one! Ps the make your own sandwich... Sauces are counted as a ingredient, so bear that in mind

I’ve been sleeping on this place! Stopped by on a whim just before they closed today and had honestly, the freshest most delicious sandwich of my life maybe?? It was SO GOOD the bread was actually insane and the service was super friendly - will definitely be back!

Their schiacciata is amazing. We tried the best sellers Colosseo and Regina and they were both really good. The portion is quite big too. And they had a great deal as it was a weekday with a drink included. Staff is nice as well. Definitely a place to visit again

Don’t let the somewhat nauseating portrait of Erling Haaland’s visage as he endorses the sarnies put you off!!! This place is otherwise a piece of perfection in Manchester: crunchy sandwiches with amazing bread, and almost over-generous fillings of salumi, cheeses, veg fillings and dressings - I had coppa with burrata, aubergine and truffle oil today, Gorgonzola yesterday: yes, so good I went back next day. And this sandwich is a full meal. Just do it!

It’s a busy place. You might have to queue, and while your order is being prepared you may have to wait. Is it worth it?…..oh yes. It certainly is. I had the Regina, with mortadella, pistachios, burrata, rocket, and pesto. The sandwich comes warm, and the bread is crispy, light and perfect. The most pleasurable and delicious sandwich you’ll find in Manchester. 100% recommended.

The sandwiches were super fresh and really good quality. The server was so nice and friendly. It’s a bit expensive, but the portions are big, so I guess it’s worth it.
