"You can forgive the hanging fake parma ham legs in this Italian sandwich spot run by Manchester City fans (one of their specials is called Haaland’s), because Ad Maiora is serious about focaccia. We’re talking high-grade olive oil, slow fermentation, pleasing dimples, slightly crunchy on the outside, cushiony inside. This exceptional bread is generously stuffed, New York Italian deli-style, so you more than get your money’s worth. Whether you chomp it down on one of the few stools by the window, or take one with you to enjoy in a quieter, greener spot outside of the Northern Quarter, there isn’t a better lunch option when sauntering around the city. Customisation is an option, but the Colosseo is a winner. Parma ham, basil, mayo, tomatoes, rocket, and mozzarella, if you like, but you’d be mad not to upgrade to buffalo, which has a lactic sweetness that lifts everything. Even diehard Manchester United fans might find themselves crossing enemy lines. photo credit: Tajda Ferko" - Joel Hart
