Adelfa’s Comida Cubana

If you’re looking for Cuban food, be sure to check out Chef Noel Argote- Herrera’s Boise-based mobile kitchen. Born in Havana, Cuba, raised in Miami Beach, Florida, and Los Angeles, California, some of Chef Noel’s earliest and best memories are of spending time in the kitchen, watching his mother cook. When he started his mobile kitchen in 2018, he named it after his mother. Chef Noel is passionate about his Cuban heritage. The day I visited, he served me while dancing to Cuban music, and sharing stories from his childhood. These photos are from my visit in July 2020. Chef Noel was out of salad, but I ordered everything else on the menu. I tried the Cuban Paella served with Plantains and Rice (10), and the Guava Pastry ($3). This was my first time trying Cuban paella, which has a different flavor profile than Spanish paella. It was a bit bland for my taste. I liked the plantains and rice, but I would have liked it better if I hadn’t also been eating a rice-based entrée. I enjoyed the freshly baked guava pastry.  Chef Noel serves a number of traditional Cuban dishes. I’m looking forward to trying his Ropa Vieja, Pernil, Picadillo, Lechon, and Flan. Recommended! — at Adelfa's Comida Cubana.

Great tasting Cuban food in Boise ! Noel puts passion and whole lot of love into his food! A true Cuban chef! Give him a try. He can be found at the farmers market downtown on the weekends! The flan is to die for!

I used to work at the University of Miami Hospital and my co-workers would take me to Hialeah for Cuban food. Adelfa’s Comida Cubana is as good or better than any Cuban food I have tasted. If you have never had Cuban food you should. I was pleasantly surprised that I found authentic Cuban food here in Boise.

Really really good Cuban food and what a generous and happy spirit- he might teach you to dance the Cuban salsa while you’re waiting, and he is so generous if you don’t have enough cash, he’s offered us to pay him later and let us have the food. I’m not sure why the other lady gave him a one star review for his generosity, but we think he’s fantastic and so is his food!!

Authentic and delicious. The man knows how to cook! Take it from one Cuban born satisfied customer.

You may not find a more friendly owner of food stand than you will in Noel Argote-Herrera, Cuban born and Miami and LA raised, who owns the Cuban food stand named after his mother from whom he learned to cook and whose memory inspires his cooking. On most, or maybe all, Saturdays during the Boise Farmers Market (BFM) season you will find him in the parking lot there. He is also sometimes at a local cigar and wine bar (although I have this information second hand since I never think of food and cigars together). For a while, maybe in 2020 - 2021'ish time frame he sometimes set up in a neighborhood...maybe he still does and I no longer get the info. He is also sometimes set up at events like local brewfests. And if there is music in the mix, you may find Noel sharing his joy in dancing to the beat. My husband and I are big fans of Cuban food and have enjoyed Noel's dishes that we've had as take away from his BFM stand on occasional Saturdays starting in 2021. Typically he'll have a rice dish and Cuban beans (both vegan), maybe plantains, and an animal protein option like ropa vieja (beef) or lechon (pork). His flan and pastelitos (guava marmalade he makes himself filled pastries) are legendary. And his tasty food is made more delicious through his charming personality. This is the best Cuban food in Boise. He is at the Saturday Farmers Market and frequents other events. By far the best flan I have ever had and I've had a lot. He has extensive experience. The recipes are his mother Adelfa's. I do not eat red meat, but his serves arroz con pollo or pollo fricassee can't be beat. He gets his spices from Latin America or Spain. I recommend his food and service without reservation.
