Where to drink margaritas in Denver | Eater Denver

"The South Broadway spot mixes a wicked house margarita, available by glass and pitcher. The two-for-one margaritas on Monday are a steal. Visitors can stop by either in the afternoon or evening during happy hour and sample the house margarita for $5." - Camila Navarrette

We didn't have a reservation on Thursday night, but we got a table in 5 minutes. They have a very nice summer patio as well tables inside in a deemed lounge area. The food was great. We had flautitas with lamb and enchiladas meat combo with few margaritas.

I think I saw heaven when I started eating the tacos. We had just hiked in sweltering heat for hours at several Red Rocks parks, so it was a joy to enter and see such a magnetic atmosphere. Even double-wrapped, the tortillas did rip from being soggy. Food was great nonetheless.

Google
My server was great. She was informative and attentive. I got a margarita and asked for a reposada. It was difficult to drink as it was not smooth. Tasted like Cuervo gold tequila. The tacos overall were tasty. Carnitas had a little more salt than I’d like, the Pastor had ok flavor, sauce was a little gritty. The asada was tasty. Once I add the salsa that was provided, it made the tacos taste better. I believe that a taco should have enough flavor to hold its own.

Google
Went here for taco Tuesday and had a great time. The pastor and lengua tacos were my favorite, and I loved the margaritas. The aloe margarita was really good, and I liked the mezcalrita a lot, too.

Google
Prices are pretty steep, three soft tacos are $13.95 - are delicious however. Would recommend the chips and salsa flight!

Google
Some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in Denver which is both an insult to Denver’s food scene and a complement to the food here. Coming from Texas it’s been hard to find a place that can meet our standards for Mexican food and this place hits the mark after months of searching. Slightly pricey but worth it for edible food.

Google
My table was for five people, and after ordering, our food was ready in literally 10 minutes, even though the place was packed! And everything was delicious. Sorry for the photos 😅we couldn't wait to take them before we started eating.

Google
First time here, and certainly not the last, the location is small and intimate and definitely screams cantina... Food and drinks are top tier... especially the Michelada Verde and the Carne Asada plate

Yelp
Thank goodness for word of mouth because I would have never found this place. And instead I've been here twice in one week! Expect a wait and hard to find parking. There are tons of signs for 1 hour parking and that it is enforced. Send someone to check in at the host stand and add your name to the list. Both times we've waited about 30 minutes. Granted we were going at peak dinner time of 5:30pm. The wait is made up by the uber fast service. I had ordered the Chicken Mole and the Chimichanga. I swear, they came out within 10 minutes. It was piping hot and exactly what we wanted. The dishes were above both of our standards and very reasonable. Neither of us left hungry. We also tried out their Taco Tuesday special. And boy! Wow! We did five tacos each and added on beans and rice. Plus we couldn't go without dessert this time. Our server was very kind and gave us extra salsa for the table. Each time was even better than the next.

Yelp
For starters, regardless of anything else, the service was SO FAST. Borderline fast food level speed, except the food quality was far above fast food. That alone would bring me back here if I were looking for something quick and good. Not exaggerating whatsoever, had to be 5 minutes between ordering tacos and receiving them. As far as the food goes, the meat itself was delicious. The beef tongue was very tender and tasty. I think the tacos were really good, especially given the price (under $15 for 3 mix & match). The chips and salsa were pretty average, but at $2 I can't complain. I think their happy hour prices aren't something to seek out, I got a $6 Pacifico draft, which I could probably find somewhere else outside of happy hour, and the house marg is $8 at happy hour. So if you're looking for cheap drinks, there's probably a better option. However, if you're looking for a nice place to sit down, get a reasonable price for a meal and a drink or two, and be in and out in a relatively short amount of time, this place is a fantastic option. In a specific mood I would absolutely come back. Intestinal Impact Index Rating: 3.5/5 - you can never fully trust a taco. Not the least trustworthy, but any time tacos are in play you have to stay on the safe side.

Yelp
we stopped by here for dinner on a sunday. we got seated right away at the large communal table and the restaurant was pretty full. Our server was really attentive and stopped by a lot. I ordered the burrito and while it was tasty, I was a little confused that half the ingredients (pico, cheese, sour cream and lettuce) were on the outside of the burrito instead of inside. It made eating it a lot more difficult and less satisfying. The carne asada tacos were really delicious as well. The real star of the show however, was the pozole. SOOO delicious and authentic. We got the small size and it was very filling so keep that in mind. I would definitely be back and order that again and skip the burrito next time.

Yelp
We stopped by for happy hour on a Friday and enjoyed some decent Mexican food! There is parking along the side of the building, FYI, in addition to street parking. I love ceviche and was pleasantly surprised to find shrimp ceviche on the happy hour specials. It is even a very generous portion! I got the Fish tacos and my husband got the half steak half chicken fajitas. The fish tacos were quite good, a little spicy, and very loaded, almost to a fault. The first taco was great however, by the time I got to the second and third taco, they were so soggy that they ripped when I picked them up. The fajitas were fairly standard with a good amount of onions an bell peppers on the hot plate and tender, seasoned meat atop. Adelitas is a good option for happy hour with decent food!

Yelp
This place is consistent and that is the absolute best news for any restaurant. It is not only consistent; It's authentic! The food is amazing. It is THE BEST ! I love the vegetarian tamales and the steak enchiladas and on both of those, I choose them both to be smothered in Mole I'm hooked on the Mole! I know That Mole can be a hit or miss in restaurants, but I guarantee you're gonna have to ask for a side of it because it is a bomb. I I'm not sure, but you have to taste it. Oh, and you're welcome in advance ! See you there !

Yelp
Places that have Taco Tuesdays have my heart. In 2025 $2 Tacos are worth the try. Easy to find location through google maps. Not far off the highway. Parking was a little tricky. The spaces are tight. But you can park across the street on Broadway. Service was attentive and on point.. Delicious queso, chorizo was not too spicy The carne asada delicious, perfect seared taste. The carnitas had a nice flavor but an unexpected kick of spice. The chicken wasn't dry as most places. Had its own little sauce not bad, but not my fave. To top off had a tres leches, home made. Home made, overall it was delicious. Would recommend, to stop by for a visit. Tuesday would be the day.

Yelp
I've visited Adelitas a handful of times, and each visit has been a 10/10! Consistently amazing food and wonderful service--this place truly serves up some of the best tacos in Denver. Their Taco Tuesday special is incredible - flavor-packed tacos starting at $2. I usually order 4-8 tacos. They are so good! They offer their taco special all day, so it's perfect for lunch, dinner, or even both if you're really feeling it. They also have a "Taco of the Week" special available after 4 or 5 PM, so if you come in the evening ask what they are offering, it's always delicious! My top three tacos are the Al Pastor, Carnitas, and the Lengua. The beef tongue taco (Lengua) is incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked, while the Al Pastor and Carne Asada are packed with authentic flavors that really stand out. The Shrimp Avocado taco is also always spot-on, with fresh ingredients and a great balance of flavors. And don't skip dessert! The sopapillas are good, but the tres leches cake is amazing! It's so rich, moist, and just the right amount of sweetness to finish off your meal. I highly recommend it! If you are too full to enjoy it there, take it to go. That cake might be better than the tacos.... Parking can be a bit challenging. There's a small lot on Broadway just a couple of doors down, but I recommend parking on Lincoln or Sherman and walking over for easier in-and-out access. Adelitas is my top recommendation whenever friends come to town--great food, affordable prices, and a lively, welcoming atmosphere. If you're craving authentic tacos, this spot should be at the top of your list!

Yelp
Absolutely loved the tacos and drinks here. Perfect spot for taco Tuesday. Highly recommend the carne asada tacos and al pastor tacos (loved the carne asada so much that I got 3 of them). Also definitely recommend the Coco Morado cocktail (tequila ocho blanco, coconut, guava, lavender) and the aloe margarita (Cimarron blanco, fresh lime, aloe liqueur).

Yelp
Still a great spot for Mexican food--the molcajete has become my go-to. It's a fun dish to share with friends and family. Unfortunately, the vibe isn't exactly welcoming. It often feels like you're inconveniencing the staff just by being there. Service is impatient, sloppy, and at times downright rude. If you spill a drink on a customer, an apology goes a lot further than an excuse. And if you're taking orders at the bar, a smile wouldn't hurt--beauty fades fast with that kind of attitude. We'll be back, but only occasionally--and we'll be taking our friends and family to friendlier tables elsewhere.

Yelp
I've been searching for some good Mexican food in Denver and I found my favorite spot! I came on a Sunday night and was seated immediately. It was pretty full with guests so was happy there was no wait! Most of the staff speaks Spanish which makes it nice for Spanish speaking guests. It seemed pretty authentic but when the food came that's when I really knew! We got the queso fundido with soyrizo for an appetizer and I can say that it's the best I've tried. It was so delicious and the portion is plentiful. We also got the three salsas with chips and all were tasty. What really got me was that Adeltias had breakfast served all day. I got chilaquiles with salsa verde. As yummy as they were, they had a kick of spicyness to it. I like spicy food but this had me sniffling haha. Just a heads up. We also got some cocktails that were awesome! I will be back to try some other dishes and cocktails! I massive recommended place from me!

Yelp
Always Delicioso!!!! my boyfriend turned me onto this place and it's one of our regulars. Our favorites are Chilaquiles, smothered burrito with mole, all three of the Michelada's red, green, and al pastor and so many more dishes. Service is always amazing and they never leave you waiting or wondering where your food is. I personally love La Doña, another restaurant around the back, it's a little bit more intimate for date nights.

Ray L.

Yelp
We had Sopas for the first time and they were awesome!!! Food is authentic, fast and delicious. Great cocktails too.

Yelp
Great taco Tuesday. Great food. Great service. Very busy on Tuesdays, so be prepared to wait.

Yelp
Went here yesterday for there taco tuesday deal. They didn't disappoint food was great and it came out within three minutes of ordering will come here again! They had great prices for on the low. Only bad part is the parking but it's just where it's located so.
google avatar

Savanna B.

Yelp
The service was great- very friendly and efficient. We started with the queso, which was tasty if a bit greasy. I had the huevos rancheros. It was good for what it was, but made me realize that I prefer this dish not elevated- green chile and potatoes. My eggs were cooked perfectly though.

Yelp
"I came to Denver for my daughter's soccer game and turned to Yelp for restaurant recommendations. I found this Mexican spot and decided to give it a try. We ordered ceviche, chips and salsa, carne de puerco en chile colorado, mole, and a carne asada burrito. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the food--it felt more like simple Mexican food and didn't capture the authentic flavors I was hoping for. On the bright side, the atmosphere was great, and our server was excellent.

David N.

Yelp
Great food, far exceeded our expectations which were already pretty high after a recommendation. The Cielo Mar Y Tierra Molcajete was amazing! Service was excellent, and a nice vibe.

Adriana B.

Yelp
I really wanted to have a great experience with their catering service because I love the dine in experience, but unfortunately, things didn't go as expected. I was told we'd be getting a buffet-style/build-your-own burrito setup. Instead, all the meat, eggs, and potatoes were mixed together in a single tray, with tortillas and toppings provided separately. This made it impossible for my vegetarian guests to enjoy the meal, as there was no way to avoid the meat. The setup wasn't clearly communicated as I would've just opted for the wrapped burritos if I knew it was going to essentially come one step before being wrapped, and it didn't allow for the flexibility we needed for different dietary restrictions/needs. Communication leading up to the event had been fine, so I was surprised by how it was executed. I'm hoping this feedback helps them improve for future customers, but based on this experience, I'd be hesitant to use their services again.

Yelp
Fast service, delicious food and wide menu! Catered well to gluten free. Love the option to swap rice/beans for extra veggies on some dishes.
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
Good food. Good vibe. Usually busy. Moderate to pricey but the value is good because the portions are generous. The waitstaff are positive and seem to enjoy their jobs. Parking can be an issue but there's a good amount of street parking nearby.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Me and my GF's favorite Mexican spot in Denver. Use to only get the carne asada burrito smothered in mole (the mole is amazing) but then we found out about molcajete. Now we always get the surf and turf style molcajete and LOVE it. Huge portion that can feed two people. They also have an impressive option for vegetarians.
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
Recommended by a hiking buddy who raved about their tamales and mole sauce. Adelitas is a fun cozy place with a great bar vibe. Is the food amazing....nope. I mean who serves white rice with any Mexicana plate....I have never seen that before. My carna asada fajitas were mostly veggies and very little beef. Good Chile rellenos Excellent service...they work their butts off there. I think happy hour is the way to go and the house margs and guac. Would def come back. Parking lot located two doors down.

Kayla L.

Yelp
Prickly pear margarita was delicious Ordered mix and max street tacos. 1 carne asada, 1 carnitas, and 1 pollo. The steak was my favorite! Also ordered a flight of salsa. 10/10 recommend. The red salsa was tasty better than most traditional salsas. Tomatillo salsa was superb loved the citrus kick and the avacado salsa was really good too. The creaminess was a nice touch. My husband ordered the Narania Fresca cocktail. We did not realize it had a smoke mezcal as it was not listed in the ingredients. It was okay probably wouldn't have ordered it if we knew it was mezcal. He ordered CIELO MAR Y TIERRA MOLCAJETE based on a recommendation from the server. It's a bowl of marinated steak, chicken, and shrimp with spicy tomato sauce, cheddar cheese, green onions, nopales, and panela cheese with corn or flour tortillas. It was literally boiling hot when it came out but very tasty! We ended our day with sopapillas They were so tasty. Best way to end the day.
google avatar

Tod B.

Yelp
Ok viewers again this place does not disappoint Patrons. Service always on point with attentiveness and the quality of food and portions are always delicious. The Molcajete is so good makes you want to slap your grandma Chili Rellenos on point especially with multiple sauces Chips and salsa , warm chips with good salsa

Yelp
Upon arrival, there was a 20-minute wait, and the bustling ambiance inside signaled a popular spot. Just in time, I could still order a drink from the happy-hour list - the top-shelf gold margarita, expertly mixed by the bartender that evening. Kudos to their skills! The margarita was quite decent, and when I ordered a second one, it was just as fantastic. To start, we enjoyed chips and salsa along with a chorizo queso dip. Additionally, I tried a carne asada steak taco, which was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly paired with salsa, onions, and cilantro. my experience left me wanting to return to sample more items on the menu, perhaps on a less busy night and more room to sit.
google avatar

Lisa R.

Yelp
This place is a classic for the Mexican food you grew up with and loving the vibe of the whole space. I come here for their enchiladas plates and they've never disappointed me. The filling is done perfectly, no matter which you choose. I especially have a soft spot for their veggies filling along with the incredible mole sauce. My second go-to item is an order of their delicious Michelada - these are VERY flavorful! The service is friendly and there's usually street parking within a block of the restaurant. I have gone here with and without kids - all experiences have been consistently nice.
google avatar

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally made it. The place is small and parking is limited to one small Lot or street parking where you can find. Broadway is hard though not a lot of super accessible parking. It was full but not packed and we waited 5-10 min. We started with the salsa flight I loved the 2 green salsas and chips were fresh. Next for the Torta and I love a good torta I wish they said In description they put some type of super hot red paste that is sooo hot I wish I knew to ask not to. Otherwise good was good, service attentive and fast.
google avatar

Grace G.

Yelp
We've come here a few times now and have really enjoyed the food. The service can be a bit slow at times but overall very pleased with the experiences I've had. The molcajetes are very large and almost overflowing, worth the nearly $40 price tag for 1-2 people. The fajitas are very good and have a generous portion for $20. The tacos are a bit small and to me were not worth the cost at nearly $5 per taco. I wish there were more margarita options without mezcal, their coin marg is very good but I'd like more than one option or to have to pay to sub different tequila in.
google avatar

Deborah M.

Yelp
I've said it once and I have to say again, Meg is the best bartender!! She makes you feel so welcome and takes such good care of everyone! I've always loved coming to Adelitas- the food is delish, the service is amazing and the bar is the place to be!
google avatar

Vivian A.

Yelp
We were really excited to try this place but it just wasn't a good experience for us. The place was super crowded, LOUD and we had a hard time getting the waiter's attention for anything. What we swallowed: *CHIPS and SALSA FLIGHT: We wanted to try the three different salsas with our chips, which you have to pay for (the chips). I guess... * TUNA TARTAR: This was really good but why so SALTY?!?!? I don't get it. Someone back there has a heavy hand with the salt! * GUACAMOLE: Although very tasty, I used it more to drown the saltiness of my tuna tartar and also my tacos... * THREE TACOS: Shrimp, lengua, carnitas. I really liked my tacos except they were SO SALTY! What gives? I had to drown my tacos in guacamole to offset the salt. It was really disappointing. I really like my shrimp tacos the best but like I said.. it was like a plate of salt with a side of tacos. I really, really wanted to like this place but being so loud, not so great service and my plate was a heart attack of salt waiting to happen, it just wasn't a great experience.

Yelp
Adelita's was the first restaurant I ate at when I moved to Denver a few years ago. To this day, it is one of my all time favorites! Featuring traditional Mexican cuisine from the state of Michocan. I rarely ever get anything besides the mole or molcajete. The mole is a labor of love and the chicken is always succulent. The depth of flavor in the mole is hard to find and Adelita's consistently provides an excellent plate. The molcajete can feed up to 3 people. You will fight over the cheese that is simmering in the delicious sauce! Note that the happy hour is amazing with cheap margaritas and fresh salsas. Additionally, Adelita's is not great for large groups. They do not take reservations and it is almost always busy. Expect to wait just a few minutes but be prepared for a full restaurant.
google avatar

Sherrin M.

Yelp
A solid Mexican spot that delivers on food, service, and a great vibe. Adelitas is a go to spot for us. Be mindful of when you come. They get insanely busy! No call aheads or reservations. You come in put your name on the waitlist and they text you when ready - you can check the link to see how many parties are in front of you. They have a few tvs and a mix of bar seating, high tops and regular tables. They have a sister restaurant right behind (La Doña) which serves the same food and has a large patio seating option. The food here always delivers and comes out fast! Get the burrito and smother it with a mix of their mole and the mushroom cream sauce. Their house made sauces are SO good. The Al pastor and carne asada are both tasty protein options. Oh yeah and don't sleep on their margs!! Tasty and they do the job - the strawberry margarita is my go too - not insanely sweet but a nice twist to a regular margarita!
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
First time here and of course we'll be back! The street tacos were great! Def go with a veggie one (I promise) as they are bomb! My husband got the huevos rancheros and thought the portion was it big enough. Margs on margs on margs!
google avatar

Steven Y.

Yelp
We wanted to visit Adelitas for a while and we finally made it. We are glad that we came kind of mid-afternoon as it was still pretty full but we could get a seat without a wait. The waitstaff was very nice, efficient, and professional. We started with a couple of great house margaritas. The drink was fresh and well-balanced. Their chips and salsa trio went well with our drinks and allowed us to try some of their salsas before we ordered our food. For my main entree, I had the Adelitas Mole Michoacano which was two oven-roasted chicken thighs covered in their rich and dark mole sauce. The chicken is served with rice, refried beans, and your choice of tortillas. The chicken was cooked well and fell off the bone. The mole was pretty tasted authentic and provided a decent amount of flavor. I tried something new for me and was glad that I did. My guests both had the enchiladas which is one of my normal go-to dishes. They enjoyed their dishes and the sauces topping the enchiladas were good. One of our plates came out with three cheese enchiladas when we had ordered one carnitas and two cheese enchilads and when we mentioned it, there was no effort to fix it, in part because they had transferred our service to another waitress. Andelitas ranks high on my list of top Mexican food restaurants in the Denver Metropolitan area and I would go back to explore their menu further.
google avatar

Jan M.

Yelp
I enjoyed my visit to Adelitas. I ordered the first three tacos on the Taco Tuesday Menu. Their tacos are delicious! I plan to visit again!

Creighton B.

Yelp
Adelita's USED to be a great, quality, reasonably priced Mexican food spot that my wife and I loved to go weekly. Now, they're a production line offering average food that's very mid from a flavor perspective. You guys need to get back on your game or you're going to lose business and then go out of business. Seen it a million times in Denver. If you don't pay attention to detail and quality - that's what got you here - you'll be another has been. I hope you figure it out.

Yelp
Always delicious. Tacos, quesadilla, drinks, entrees, ceviche, Everything! Great service. Cool atmosphere. Never disappoints.

Siobhan M.

Yelp
Got the Puerco Con Chile Colorado and it was very bland. Music was too loud for the small space. Staff were very friendly.
google avatar

Jenelle E.

Yelp
Must try the michelada! I'd go back just for that, even though it was the price of a six pack!! The food was great, sorry I didn't get any photos. I highly recommend the carnitas and asada tacos. I ordered a side of rice and beans with my tacos, but was not a huge fan, I thought both were bland. My buddies got the asada burrito and the steak & chicken fajitas. We all really enjoyed our food and the service was good! Great ambiance, good spot for lunch!

Haley S.

Yelp
If you are from Colorado or a state that doesn't have a connection to authentic Mexican or Tex Mex, you will think this is really great. Some of it is pretty good. If you are from Texas, or Cali you'll most likely be disappointed. I would avoid the chicken fajitas if I were you. Chicken was dark meat and soooo fatty.
google avatar

Andy R.

Yelp
Had a terrible experience this past Tuesday tried emailing and contacting through social media to voice my concern. Got left on read, not even a response. Probably one of your longest standing customers will not be going back sadly. They just opened a new location so this one got all new staff and you can immediately tell.

Yelp
Adelitas Cocina y Cantina is located in a vibrant area of South Denver next to a bunch of restaurants, breweries, and shops. There is a shared parking lot, but it fills up quickly and street parking is probably your best bet. We were able to find a spot when we parked in the area around 6PM on a Friday. We got to Adelitas at around 7PM and were told there was a 40 minute wait. It was BUSY. We waited and were seated a little over an hour later near a corner. Even though we were not in the middle of the restaurant, it was still loud. Probably wouldn't recommend for a first date if you want to talk. Our server was kind and got our drinks and food to us quickly. I got carne asada enchiladas and my partner got a carne asada burrito. It was pretty standard Mexican American food. I expected a little more with just how packed it was and a recommendation we got from a local. Overall, it gets the job done!
google avatar

Sofia G.

Yelp
My friends and I had dinner in Denver at Adelitas and let me tell you this place estuvo tan rico! We hit the jack pot with this place since it was our first time ever in Denver and my friends trusted in me The service was great, and we got our food 15mins after ordering even with a full house! The kitchen slayed and delivered as well, thank you for blessing with authentic Mexican food from Michoacán Ordenamos los camarones con crema, enchiladas con salsa roja, sopes, cóctel de camarón, pozole, tacos de tinga, y chimichanga

Yelp
Delicious! We visited on one of the "Chimichanga Wednesdays." Lightly fried, well seasoned, and wonderful. The staff is helpful and the room is comfortable. The cocktails looked very good.

Yelp
Best tamales ever. Chips and salsa were amazing. Margarita was delicious. Texas girl approved

Yelp
Terrible food was cold. Very very expensive. The service wasn't even good. Drinks are very expensive. I dont recommend

Yelp
Went here a couple of days ago for dinner. The owner is from Michaocan just like my wife. Take it from her, this place is legit. "The kind of Mexican food and mole that my Mom made." So glad we found this spot, got the happy hour prices for drinks, mezcal marg was awesome, so was the Carne Asada plate and the chicken mole plate. It was really busy, we were seated right away, drinks and food came out very fast. What a great find!

Deb M.

Yelp
Our first visit and we enjoyed it immensely! My husband and I love Posole soup and Adelitas did not disappoint. Our server was very attentive and engaging. We definitely will become regulars. They have parking close by also.

Yelp
I have eaten here a couple of Times and I've never been disappointed! This time I was joined by my daughter and her husband and my husband as well. We had drinks, (the spicy margarita was SPICY, but yummy), and as far as the food goes we had enchiladas (chicken) with green sauce and mole, and the guys had the tamales with two different sauces, which they completely enjoyed. We also had chips, salsa and quac. - very good, but I actually prefer a simpler quac with no cilantro, and less add ons. This place is a little loud, but the food is really good And consistent, and the staff is friendly, professional and welcoming.
